India: Tensions high after pork found in mosque

Outrage.

This reminds me of a story from about 1990 or 1991. There was a big Gay Pride march in a major American city. Afterward, I was talking to a couple of Catholic seminarians whose seminary was along the road the marchers used, and they said that marchers had slipped condoms through the mail slot in the seminary's front door. The seminarians threw them away, and that was the end of the incident. The marchers had meant to taunt the seminarians, and the seminarians shrugged off the taunt. There were no marches. Security was not beefed up. The incident got no publicity whatsoever.

Compare and contrast.

"Pork in mosque creates tension ahead of MK visit," from Express News Service (thanks to Twostellas):

ERODE: Tension prevailed in Dharapuram after a slice of pork was found inside a mosque at Kannan Nagar near the by-pass road in Dharapuram on Friday.

Sources said that the slice of meat was thrown into the mosque through the iron gates. A mosque worker Ibrahim spotted it when he opened the door of the mosque this morning.

Later in the day, over 5000 Muslims assembled near the Big Mosque, Jinna Maidan and took out a march to the RDO Nagarajan’s office and sought action against the miscreants behind the incident.

Superintendent of Police Sonal V Mishra, Town Inspector of Police Sivakumar and SI Shunmugam went to the mosque and held an enquiries. The local Muslims numbering more than 500 visit the mosque, wherein a Madarassa too functions, on a daily basis.

Since the incident occured on the eve of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s visit to Erode on Saturday, security has been beefed up in the town.

Slice of pork inside the gates: Outrage time!

"...visit to Erode...."

...either that is an appropriate name for a Muslim controlled town or that was the mission for the Muslims....

"security has been beefed up in the town."

Please, don't offend the Hindus with a slice of beef!

"...Sources said that the slice of meat was thrown into the mosque through the iron gates..."

...how do they know it was thrown in.....it could have been dropped by a closed Muslim porkaholic on his way inside to attend the regular terrorist indoctrination classes inside the mosque....

"closed " should be closet

Video-taped beheadings and stonings= good entertainment which enriches family values.

Piece of pork= Outrage!

I should stop trying to understand this stuff. It makes my nose bleed.

The local police chief remarked: "It was only a a piece of pork, and I suspect this was just a matter of a few local lads horsing around; chickens**t stuff really. Still, it really got the Moslems' goat, so we'll beef up patrols for a while, and keep our eyes out for anything fishy."

Five Thousand march over a slice of pork. FIVE THOUSAND, imagine. Could have easily dispersed the crowd by putting slices of meat across the road. A thought, to protect the barracks of our troops, markets in areas of conflict subject to bombing, etc., etc, why not just ring all these areas with bacon slices??

Posted by: Coeurmaeghan [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 29, 2007 11:51 AM

OR, better yet, guard pigs. Pigfarmer, your thoughts please?? Willing to supply a few thousand pigs to help our troops stay safe??

Posted by: Coeurmaeghan [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 29, 2007 11:53 AM

The pork was most probably a "plant" - placed there by a Mohammadan in order to stir up trouble on the eve of a strategic visit. These people are so predictable!

Posted by: Sencit [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 29, 2007 12:46 PM

Most excellent!

We now know Islam's weak point - pork.

All we need to drive them out or enrage them is a few packs of JimmyDean Sausages and some pot bellied pigs strategically placed.

And to stop a Muslim protest just have some guys with pigs on leashes ready to walk into the crowd. And for backup have some pork throwers with pickled pigs feet and hog jowls(availible at any Mexican market)at the ready.

Posted by: waltc [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 29, 2007 12:52 PM

"Compare and contrast" (Robert).

A trick essay question ... there is no compare ... only contrast.

Posted by: LoneRanger [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 29, 2007 1:22 PM

This is hilarious. I think we should get midieval on their ass. Set up trebuchets (catapults) and start hurling entire carcasses of diseased hogs onto their mosques. Then when they riot, we could go high tech. and cover the crowd with some form of aerosol pig fat.

Oh it is fun to fantasize.

In the end we will win by an informed, motivated public. Keep learning and never give in. Keep reading this site and others like it and exchange ideas. That scares them even more than pork products.

I think it was Black Jack Pershing who dipped his bullets in pig's blood to fight jihadist's in Phillipines. This tactic apparently was successful because a martyr does not get his raisins if impure.

This tactic would work today in Afghanistan, Iraq, and elsewhere. Thes brain-washed, superstitious egg-heads would be less willing to die for allah.

How would a Muslim, who so abhors pigs that any close approach to them would be unthinkable, even be able to identify a piece of meat as pork in the first place? Did one of them taste it, perhaps? Something's not kosher in Dharapuram,I'd say.

Posted by: commonsense [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 29, 2007 2:24 PM

But did the crowd of 5000 say anything about the room full of weapons in the holy, holy mosque? Or the torture room in the basement?

Posted by: special_guest [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 29, 2007 3:07 PM

This is just another excuse for TMB. Typical Muslim Behavior

Posted by: Dumbo [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 29, 2007 3:24 PM

Dumbo, you are correct but I would include MBB......
Muslims Behaving Badly.

Gosh, when I hear of a piece of pork I think of mashed potatoes with some good gravy and some Peter Brady apple shaush.

What I'd really like to know is how they are able to assemble 5000 Muslims so quickly. Is there some sort of emergency pork-piece call roster?

Just what I was wondering. Maybe it was in a pre-wrapped package, marked "boneless pork loin chops, $2.69 per lb." like at my supermarket. But then this Indian state is about 94% Hindu and Moslem, so I imagine that pork is not a big item at the local Safeway.

Posted by: ebonystone [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 29, 2007 3:48 PM

I find this whole issue of pork hilarious. I worked in Saudi Arabia for awhile and pork was readily available in the Eastern Province. In fact expatriates would drive back from Bahrain with freshly wrapped packages and the border guards turned their heads.

After the various recent mosque bombings, there must have been pieces of "long pig" lying all about the mosque. Did thousands protest in the streets about this desecration?

When will there be a Porkistan?

Islam... weak minds joined in hysteria.

Perhaps the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq should be supplied with trained attack pigs and sniffer pigs! (I have seen wild boars and they are dangerous, scary animals - I wouldn't like to have a large pig sic'ed onto me).

By the way: there's a guy in Israel who is busy breeding and training sniffer pigs - he reckons they are much better at it than dogs, they have keener senses and can concentrate for longer periods. (He got the idea from seeing how French farmers use pigs to hunt truffles). His primary aim is to use trained pigs for detecting landmines, but he also has an eye to security uses - sniffing suspicious luggage and persons.

Despite the Jewish ban on pork, and an old tradition that is dubious about the raising of pigs on the holy ground of the Land of Israel, the rabbis have given him their blessing, because the principle of preserving human life takes precedence, and it is clear that these clever sniffer pigs could be better than dogs at spotting would-be suicide murderers, landmines and other explosive booby traps.

(The IDF's dog squad already has a long and heroic history - looks as though they might be joined by the 'pig squad' pretty soon).

Interesting difference there: Islam inculcates in many of its adherents an exaggerated, even phobic public aversion to pork and pigs, giving rise to ridiculous events such as the one described today (although, in private, as has been pointed out by another poster, some Muslims secretly eat pork anyway, just as they secretly indulge in alcohol and sexual perversions).

On the other hand the Jews, who have an apparently similar religious ban on eating pork, are nevertheless not obsessive about it and have just found a different, positive and life-saving use for the natural talents of the animal concerned.

Posted by: dumbledoresarmy [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 29, 2007 6:36 PM

I wonder who removed the pork. Gee, maybe that is why the 5000
Muslims assembled, to see who was going to have clean it up.

How does he know it was "thrown into" the mosque.

Maybe Farfur dragged it in.

If only the hideous crimes and atrocities committed by muslims generated the appropriate outrage! Atrocities are ignored but innocuous pranks are met with mass hysteria. Muslims are insane.

Posted by: Susanp [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 29, 2007 9:26 PM

So the guy that found it had to make a big deal out of it. seems like a set up to me. After 9/11, when America was kicked in the balls there were no mass backlash in this nation, no mass riots against islam, no burning down of hundreds of mosques. we dealt with this via the polls, the elections and through democracy. yet still the islamists claimed of mass "racism" mass bigotry and hatred. So now move on 5-6 years and still no American backlash. So islamists have to make stuff up, make out that they are victimised on a daily basis.
Instead of simply throwing hte pork away, this guy told everyone, held mass rallies and claim victimisation. This is a tactic used by many prominnent high level British Muslim leaders, Mr Malik uses this method, he was investigated for fraud so he pulls out the victimisation card. Red Ken Livingstone recently pulled this one claiming that the investigations into his accounts was racism.

"spitirual terror" is alive and well in the 21st century.

Or one of our saboteur-squirrels. But this is rather a long way from Iran.

Also, one wonders who has suffered the greater insult here: Moslems or pigs? I should think that the legal agents of the Empress of Blandings -- the generally-recognized head of world pork-dom -- would be considering filing for damages on behalf of her species. What depravity! To have one's remains thrown into a den of beasts; it's worse than desecrating a tomb.

Posted by: ebonystone [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 29, 2007 10:12 PM

"Or one of our saboteur-squirrels. "

Hey you could be right. It could've been a stray dog or other animal. I was in India 1990 and street animals are ten a penny there, cows, dogs, monkeys, rats, cats etc. Seriously you could be right. This is like the wackos seeing a light in the sky and instantly blaming little green men yet in reality it's an aircraft.

A stray dog or animal brought in the pork and ran when it heard a human but the mosque headman blamed anti-islamists.

Coeurmaeghan wrote: "A thought, to protect the barracks of our troops, markets in areas of conflict subject to bombing, etc., etc, why not just ring all these areas with bacon slices??"

That is a good thought, but why stop at bacon? Why not use ferocious, well-trained pigs to to man (sorry, to "pig") high-risk points in conflict areas? Pigs are at least as smart as dogs, can be trained equally well with the right methods, and if you've ever gotten between an angry mother sow and her piglets, you'll know that one of them can take down a grown man as soon as look at him. Perhaps the thought of having his entrails devoured by one of these unclean beasts will be enough to deter a would-be Paradise-seeker.

Doesn't this sort of thing happen often in Synagogues? Also do I remember some people doing disgusting things in a Belgian cathedral?

Over reaction and overstatement from the religion of perpetual offense.

"...The local Muslims numbering more than 500 visit the mosque, wherein a Madarassa too functions, on a daily basis."

So where'd they drag up the other 4,500?
I'd suggest closing the mosque indefinitely, for 'pork decontamination'. I'm sure the Muslims would agree to that as a precaution...

Posted by: DaninVan [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 30, 2007 12:05 PM

This "incident" has all the hallmarks of having been staged. How exactly does one identify a piece of meat laying on the ground as pork? Do muslims have some kind of super-hero type of ability to determine what type of animal a random piece of meat lying on the ground comes from? I am willing to bet you could not find a living pig or a piece of butchered pork within a hundred miles of this place.

I guess we non-Muslims can only shake our heads in disbelief and find comfort in our sense of humor, a state of mind which appears to be totally lacking in the sons and daughters of Islam. Thus, I would guess these same sons and daughters, astute pork-spotters that they are, might take offense at my asking, in my ignorance of such a "great" religion, what their beef is with pork anyway? Anyone know the genesis of this revulsion to pork, beside the fact that the intolerants consider pigs to be unclean (as if cattle and chickens were any cleaner)? In any event, if anyone can shed the light on this for me I would be greatful enough to send him or her some very tasty chittlins.

Posted by: rudyalso [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2007 7:44 AM

Anyone know the genesis of this revulsion to pork, . . ?

Posted by: rudyalso

Since Mohammad created his religion from a selection of elements from Judaism, various sorts of Christianity, Zoroastrianism, Arab paganism, and previous combinations of these; and since at least at first he hoped to be recognized by the Arab Jews as the new Moses, he likely just lifted the prohibition of pork wholesale from Judaism.
As for the Judaic prohibition of pork, note that the early Hebrews were nomadic herders of sheep, goats, and cattle. Pigs were raised in the settled river-valley civilizations nearby, with which the Hebrews came into contact. Thus when the Hebrews themselves settled down the injunction against pork would have been part of a general agreement to remain true to their own traditions, to remain Hebrews, to not take on the ways of their neighbors.

Posted by: ebonystone [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2007 10:09 AM

At one time, there were no Muslims in India. Eventually, all of India will be under Islamic influence. This is because they confer the state of religion upon Islam. Islam is not a religion.

"I find it amusing that many muslims who abhor all things swine find camels completely acceptable.

Posted by: HereticInfidel"

....Muslims found out long ago...camels are friendler and easier to catch....

Posted by: exsgtbrown [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2007 2:18 PM

Just to clarify the pork issue, if one considers the specifics of Jewish food prohibitions the wisdom of them becomes obvious. These arose at a point in time and place with no access to refrigeration, little chance of survival from food carried diseases such as trichinosis, botulism, E. coli and toxoplasmosis.
Pigs are omnivores, read carnivores if the opportunity arises, and notorious carriers of the trichina parasite.
Shellfish, definitely not kosher, are bottom feeders filtering decayed matter, as well as being highly toxic if eaten during a 'red tide', or if dead before being cooked.
(Someone brought up Camels; they're not kosher...see the details below)

Forget the religious aspects here, these are simply survival tactics based on observation and experience. A lot of these objections aren't always relevant today as animal husbandry in developed countries counter the risks, and regulations offer some protection. Same for fishing.
(Personally, I don't like shellfish so see no point in accepting the risk of eating them....except for prawns and shrimp which aren't bottom feeders)

"Animals that may not be eaten

Of the "beasts of the earth" (which basically refers to land mammals with the exception of swarming rodents), you may eat any animal that has cloven hooves and chews its cud. Lev. 11:3; Deut. 14:6. Any land mammal that does not have both of these qualities is forbidden. The Torah specifies that the camel, the rock badger, the hare and the pig are not kosher because each lacks one of these two qualifications. Sheep, cattle, goats and deer are kosher.

Of the things that are in the waters, you may eat anything that has fins and scales. Lev. 11:9; Deut. 14:9. Thus, shellfish such as lobsters, oysters, shrimp, clams and crabs are all forbidden. Fish like tuna, carp, salmon and herring are all permitted.

For birds, the criteria is less clear. The Torah lists forbidden birds (Lev. 11:13-19; Deut. 14:11-18), but does not specify why these particular birds are forbidden. All of the birds on the list are birds of prey or scavengers, thus the rabbis inferred that this was the basis for the distinction. Other birds are permitted, such as chicken, geese, ducks and turkeys.

Of the "winged swarming things" (winged insects), a few are specifically permitted (Lev. 11:22), but the Sages are no longer certain which ones they are, so all have been forbidden.

Rodents, reptiles, amphibians, and insects (except as mentioned above) are all forbidden. Lev. 11:29-30, 42-43.

As mentioned above, any product derived from these forbidden animals, such as their milk, eggs, fat, or organs, also cannot be eaten. Rennet, an enzyme used to harden cheese, is often obtained from non-kosher animals, thus kosher hard cheese can be difficult to find. "

Hopefully the above adds something to the conversation here.

-A HAPPY and PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR to everyone here!

Posted by: DaninVan [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2007 8:40 PM

DaninVan: Wow! Thanks for the enlightenment. While it may have made sense to prohibit the ingestion of the products of these animals in those days, one might assume that with the advent of refrigeration and preservation techniques, the list would have been revised. But, alas, this great "religion" and its Imam leaders are still living in the 7th century, so, no hope there. Where do I send the "chittlins"?

Posted by: rudyalso [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 1, 2008 8:26 AM

Camel meat may not be kosher, but I know for a fact that it is eaten by many muslims in countries where camels are commonplace. Camel milk is widely consumed as well. I always found this practice to be a little revolting and definitely "unclean".

Posted by: HereticInfidel [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 1, 2008 1:09 PM

Sorry for any confusion re the camel consumption.
I offered the kosher tradition of Judaism info as background only; frankly I know very little about Islam's 'halal' prohibitions.
Perhaps someone else can fill in the blanks?
Incidentally, Britain's tragic experience with BSE is proof of the wisdom of NOT eating the flesh of carnivores! How the hell did our ancestors figure THAT out?! (Same for cannibalism)

Posted by: DaninVan [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 1, 2008 1:47 PM

The Muslim religion, like Judaism, merely forbids the eating of pork; this does not account for the visceral loathing of pigs, images of pigs, stories of pigs, etc., that we are seeing everywhere in Muslim communities these days. Witness the recent insanity in Britain, with some employers forbidding workers from displaying any images of pigs - calendars, etc. - to avoid offending Muslim co-workers; a British bank abandoning the tradition of giving children free piggy banks when they open new accounts, schoolteachers doctoring fairy tales about pigs, Muslim grocery store workers being excused from handling pork products, the list goes on and on. Strangely, all this courtesy has never been extended to the Jewish community in Britain or anywhere else, as far as I know. Maybe because Jews don't organize mass riots, set off bombs, and kill people when their petty "religious" demands are not met? Just askin'...
