"In line with sharia (Islamic law) men do not need to go to court to file for divorce. A unilateral declaration of divorce by a man, repeated three times, formally ends a marriage."
Sharia Alert. "Egyptian woman in legal test of SMS divorce," from Agence France-Presse:
CAIRO (AFP) - An Egyptian woman is seeking clarification from a court on whether her husband's declaration of divorce by text message is legally valid, a state-run newpsaper reported on Thursday.
After missing a call from her husband on her mobile phone, Iqbal Abul Nasr received a text message from him saying "I divorce you because you didn't answer your husband," Al-Akhbar said.
In line with sharia (Islamic law) men do not need to go to court to file for divorce. A unilateral declaration of divorce by a man, repeated three times, formally ends a marriage.
It was the third time Abul Nasr, an engineer from Cairo, received a divorce text message from her husband, prompting her to seek a legal decision from the a family court on the status of her marriage.
If the court declares the couple divorced, it would be the first reported case of divorce by SMS in Egypt.
The subject of divorce by SMS has been highly debated across the Muslim world and some Islamic countries like Malaysia have banned the practice.
What about three voice mail messages? Has that possibility been settled yet?
According to Egypt's state-run statistics bureau, a couple files for divorce every six minutes in Egypt.
So much for the stability of Islamic family life that we hear so much about.

...If the woman was smart, she would never marry a Muslim man to begin with....

After the triple-talaq, then what? No custody battles? Why? No discussion about spousal support. Why? Ex-husband takes all, the kids, the money, everything?
In Dar al-Islam, who cares. But in Dar al-Harb, where so many Muslims have settled, and are now attempting to have family law for Muslims be regulated by Muslims alone, in Shari'a courts, what would happen? If a wife (which wife?) is left without support, who then takes care of her? The infidel taxpayers, already burdened, through the exploitation, and more, of the benefits systems of the nation-states of Western Europe, especially by Muslim immigrants who, while they do not pass onto fellow Muslim immigrants any trade or craft, always somehow manage to pass on vast amounts of information as to how to finagle the system, not only for free education, health care, subsidized housing, but also for all kinds of other government subsidies, to a degree that would fill with envy those who scam the system of benefits that America provides.

There are just no words to adequately describe this megalomaniac's misogynist insanity.

Islam is not a religion and so not constrained by religious forms. Under Islamic culture, immature and mature females are half as valuable as a human male. It is normal in Islamic culture (our new culture here in America), it is normal under Islamic-American culture for fathers to slaughter the females he has produced when they disobey or embarrass him.
Please try to get used to this stuff, people. Islam is our new culture in America. Islam. It is not going away because we are weak and we are being conquered.
If we can some how muster enough strength to deport all Muslims and outlaw Islam, we can probably reclaim the USA. But we won't. Because Islam is a precious and glittering religion pure as the driven snow.

Why three times? Once should be enough.
This going both ways, of course.
As for kids and property, that should have been taken care of beforehand: a simple contract, updated annually.

Did anyone read Lionheart's link posted above.
He is a poster here at JW and his blog says he is going to be arrested under British hate crime law. It also says he is here in the U.S. That is a story of itself?? Does anyone know more?

"As for kids and property, that should have been taken care of beforehand: a simple contract, updated annually."
Pre-nups in an islamic nation? Wouldn't that be tantamount to no longer treating women as property and instead treating them as equals?

I also read Lionheart's blog, and sent a message to Robert and Hugh. I am sure that a lot of blogs will get around to covering this, since we know that the press, who so cherishes its freedom, will not. And no, she is not better off. She is in an even worse state, since she has been rejected by her husband, she has no rights to her children, and is forever an object of dishonor in her father's home. Untouchable. Unloved. Unperson.

Hi Elric66,
So sorry. My computer froze after my last post and as I pushed the send button I saw your link but couldn't get back until a few minutes ago. I pasted this thread to the one over at JW entitled "Culture? Or Religion?" to see if we can get some help for you. I'm also going to get a message to Brigitte Gabriel about this and see if she has some ideas.
Don't go home. If your police force has been infiltrated, which I believe I read about in the last month or so here, you may be put in a hole and never heard from again. It would be much better for you to stay here for now and get some publicity on this going and let it make the rounds via word of mouth and on the internet. In any case, you are right to ask for God's protection and I will pray for you, starting now.

Isabella,
I appreciate the concern but I am not Lionheart. I saw his blog piece and wanted to get the word out for him. I apologize for the misunderstanding but it is heartening that you felt such compassion.
Brigette is an excellent choice. Maybe Savage would be a good contact too since he seems to be the only big time talk radio host that understands the importance of this Stalinist tactic.

Hi Elric,
This ##$%*@&&!! computer keeps messing up today and my posts are delayed! AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!
I'm glad you are not Lionheart but, Dear Lord, please help that poor guy. I am going to get through this computer mess and contact Brigitte Gabriel now. See you later! (Ur, read you later. : )

"And will probably be married off as third or fourth wife to some old goat."
Sorry, but not even a chance at that. Unless she is widowed, and then his brother might marry her, possibly. But a divorced woman in Darulislam is persona non grata.

Lionheart:
In case you read this page,
I'm sure someone else must have suggested this, but have you considered requesting political asylum?
The US might consider legal proceedings for the crime of blogging to be grounds for political asylum. Free speech and so on.

---------------------------------
Yes, just like in Colorado City (Ariz) and other lonely outposts of Mormon fundamentalism and plural wives. There's usually one "state-legal" wife, and several other "religion-only" wives. My understanding is that the resulting huge families rely on food stamps and welfare...

While this is a TOTAL bummer for the woman involved, think of the applications in other areas: IF this is legal, then doesn't it stand to reason that Moslems could use text messaging and pagers to call the faithful to prayer? ergo no need for the general public to be subjected to that noise that comes from mosques 5 times a day -
If a mosque is using amplified sound (loudspeakers) invented by infidels, then there's NO reason they can't use other electronic means, and be able to comply with all noise restrictions. Keep this in mind the next time a mosque near you applies for a noise waiver.

I wouldn't get my panties in a wad about poor Lionheart. I'm of course not certain, but the whole story seems incredible to me. The British authorities have much higher profile critics of Islam to go after than Lionheart. Even the innocuous Pat Condell comes to mind.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm of course entirely sympathetic to Lionheart or other bloggers who might be caught in these circumstances due to their criticism of Islam or of Muslims themselves. But I guess until he is arrested I'm going to remain skeptical.
Methinks Lionheart is at least exaggerating the direness of his predicament, not to mention his own importance.
Regards,
HAID

Muslim songs of the British Isles. My favourite for the children is "Ramadan is coming", so soothing, yet so gentle. "good night my precious one".

Before my husband could get the third divorce decree out of his mouth I would've kicked his ass to the curb. No woman needs to put up with this kind of abuse over something like not answering ones husband. Lame!

Ok , this is a women trying to USE Islam to get out of a marriage....hello! Iqbal Abul Nasr is also a engineer and therefore has financial independance ( and a education). She also has the wheretheall to mount a legal challenge on her feckless husband. As she lives in Cairo , she probably doesnt cover her hair and walks alone to do her shopping , probably eats at Macca's and wears makeup...and probably hasent been beaten for months. The march of the Cultural West goes unabated....and unacknowleged in Jihadwatchland.
