More anti-dhimmitude from Ezra Levant. "Defiant Levant republishes cartoons," by Keith Bonnell for Canwest News Service (thanks to Mark):
A controversial conservative commentator was unrepentant going into a Human Rights and Citizenship Commission hearing yesterday, using his Web site to republish the same cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad that got him into trouble in the first place."Contriteness implies that you've done something wrong for which you need to apologize or atone," Ezra Levant said moments before his 90-minute meeting with the Alberta Human Rights and Citizenship Commission in Calgary.
"I have not done anything wrong."
And here comes the predictable and absurd claim of victimization:
Mr. Levant's dispute with some members of Alberta's Muslim community became even more personal, as the head of a Calgary Muslim group said he now fears for the safety of his family due to "lies" Mr. Levant has been spreading about him.The commission is investigating Mr. Levant's decision two years ago, as publisher of the Western Standard, to print a series of cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad.
Not "the Islamic Prophet." Just "the Prophet." Apparently the mainstream media has already converted.
The same cartoons had already ignited violent protests and death threats from Muslims around the world after the images appeared in a Danish newspaper.Syed Soharwardy, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada, filed a complaint after the Western Standard published the cartoons, which included a Muslim man with a bomb-shaped turban, and the commission is now investigating.
Mr. Levant, his lawyer and his wife attended a 90-minute meeting yesterday with a human rights officer.
Mr. Levant, who occasionally writes for the National Post, said he was asked about his rationale for publishing the cartoons.
"I don't need to be reasons-able. I have maximum rights of free speech," he said later.
"I have the right to publish this for the most offensive reason, for the most unreasonable reasons."...
For Mr. Soharwardy, the issue has become intensely personal.
He fired off a letter to Calgary police yesterday, complaining about statements made by Mr. Levant on his blog that refer to the Muslim leader as a "radical, Saudi-trained imam who has publicly called for shariah law to be imposed in Canada."
"I have asked him what kind of training did I get in Saudi Arabia?" an angry Mr. Soharwardy said from Calgary.
He said Mr. Levant has also called him anti-Semitic, despite the fact Mr. Soharwardy's mosque celebrates Hannukah with the local Jewish community.
"These people have the intent to incite hate against Muslims," Mr. Soharwardy said.
"God forbid if somebody reads from his Web site -- [if ] any fanatic reads it -- and he attacks me, who's responsible?
"If any crime [is] committed against me or my family, I will hold Mr. Ezra Levant responsible."
Calgary police said they were actively investigating the complaint, as well as another complaint Mr. Soharwardy made in December.
That complaint centred on comments made on a blog connected to the Western Standard Web site.
The comments, from an unknown user, included "There is no such thing as innocent Muslims," and "They must all be killed. All of them."
Obnoxious. Immoral. Not worth destroying free speech over. The greater threat comes from jihadists who really are killing people, instead of just bloviating on a website.
"The file is still open and we are still actively pursuing it," Insp. Bob Couture said.Mr. Levant called his appearance before the human rights commission "an interrogation.""To me, this is offensive," he said.
"A secular government bureaucracy has essentially been hijacked by a radical Muslim imam," he said. "It's being used to further his fatwa against these cartoons."
"We have a great tradition of free speech in Canada," he said.
"My freedom to publish a cartoon that some radical Muslim imam doesn't like, well that's the free West for ya."

There's the Austrian case, posted here previously, http://www.jihadwatch.org/dhimmiwatch/archives/019553.php and now this case from Finnland: http://tundratabloid.blogspot.com/2008/01/finnish-blogger-gets-fined-and-shut.html
In EVERY case it's all about Muslims being 'persecuted' by everyone else (but mostly we Jews).
As I asked yesterday, "Did someone declare war?!"...I mean other than Osama

A crackpot, no doubt. But more likely a Muslim who is trying to discredit Levant. That's what we have to watch out for...

How about Levant filing a complaint against Syed Soharwardy. Syed will be forced to pay out of his own pocket to be investigated by this fake human rights council.

Spreading lies about Islam? Wow,that's original.
What lies? What is it we hear and see from this blood cult that isn't true?

The Human Rights Commission folks actually let Ezra Levant bring a camera in. See the seven videos on YouTube. We should all support this man.

Levant is brilliant. He came fully loaded to the CHRC inquest. Freedom of expression is the most effective weapon on earth. I am certain Ezra can provide ample sources to utterly defeat Mr. Soharwardys claims. For a start, the investigating officers should sit down and watch the Ezra files.

Our Canadian readers need to contact their representatives in Parliament and raise holy hell. Please do not let this gentleman fight the battle for your freedom alone. Perhaps American readers might contact the Canadian Embassy to protest.

I didn't see any links to Ezra Levant's website in that disgraceful CanWest article. Can't have the readers could making their own minds up, eh? What a dinosaur is the mainstream media.

Ezra will make a good sacrificial lamb for free speech, except for the dhimmis and imams, the lamb is in fact a lion and they may well wish they never ruffled his mane.

Ezra did something that was a stroke of genius , he used his free-speech to make slanderous allegations against the Islamofascists in Alberta while the AHRC Worker sat their and allowed it.
Don't you get it folks, the AHRC can now be sued because they let Ezra speak his mind and make claims about the Imams or Muslims thugs wanting Sharia law in canada , the Commission is on video failing to stop more "Perceived" hate speech or Islamophobic tirades in public.
It's now on video as evidence that the AHRC chose to do nothing about a verbal assault on islam or some Muslims and that shows an Intent to condone it by their silence to stop it or denounce hate-speech .
I love it , now these paper-pushing yahoos risk a lawsuit by Muslims for letting Ezra video his rants and post them on YouTube , so who is the worse of the 2 , Ezra for reprinting existing cartoons or the AHRC for failing to act during a vebal attck on islam and Muhammad for all to see Globally.
BTW
The charges were by the B.C. HRC and Alberta HRC , so it appears that in Ontario the different Time-zone allows for offending islam and Muslims because the cartoons could be seen in Ontario store within the Western Standard magazine.
Maybe that's why i can get away with using Allah Sucks as my handle , I'm in Ontario and the OHRC has the time-zone change .

These so called human rights commissions are there not to support human rights, but to define them, and there by limit them. When you do that, you are doing nothing more than censoring people. These courts are nothing more than modern Blasphemy tribunals, who pass judgment on how people should conform to the religious orthodoxy of the time. In his case they are passing judgment on the secular orthodoxy of our times and his lack of respect for them. They are nothing more than a modern version of the inquisition and the witch finder generals. Unfortunately they cannot execute him, that would contravene his civil rights, so they will try and bankruptcy him.
Fortunately he live in Canada I live in Europe, and here things are much worse and if the new law proposed by the E.U. commission to combat religious hatred and xenophobia becomes law, then I will have no right of free speech. Here by the way are the punishments they propose read and weep.
Article 6
Sanctions for legal persons
1. Each Member State shall take the necessary measures to ensure that a legal person held liable
pursuant to Article 5(1) is punishable by effective, proportionate and dissuasive sanctions, which
shall include criminal or non-criminal fines and may include other sanctions, such as:
(a) exclusion from entitlement to public benefits or aid;
(b) temporary or permanent disqualification from the practice of commercial activities;
(c) placing under judicial supervision;
(d) a judicial winding-up order.
2. Member States shall take the necessary measures to ensure that a legal person held liable
pursuant to Article 5(2) is punishable by effective, proportionate and dissuasive sanctions or
measures.
This of course will not come into effect until the politicians sign the Lisbon document next year and in so doing subsume my British Citizenship into the E.U. citizenship and Britain becomes a province of the greater Borg. Britain will become 7 of 25.
I would like to add that I agree with every word he has spoken at the commission. He has certainly emphatically: and with eloquence reflected the views of hundreds of thousand of human being who feel that there views are not listened too or taken into account, and that this sort of Legal action will only lead to disaster. The frustration is palpable. Lord gray in 1914 at the outbreak of the first world war put it more eloquently than I can, when he said,”The lamps are going out in Europe and we will not see them lit in our lifetime”. I hope he makes sure the lamps do not go out in Canada or America.

""I have not done anything wrong."
...in a sane, rational world this is true....
...in the bizarro world of Islam, this is a lie and a threat to be dealt with severely....

Holger Dansker, the segment of article 6 you provided in your comment - all too closely resembles several examples of historic dhimmitude portrayed in Bat Ye'or's writings about dhimmitude and jizya. WTF are the Euro elites thinking?

Please notice: When Mr. Levant called Mr. Soharwardy a "radical, Saudi-trained imam who has publicly called for shariah law to be imposed in Canada," Soharwardy responded by asking what training he had received. He did not deny wanting imposition of shariah law in Canada. Which is exactly what the "human rights" council is aiding and abetting.

When Adam Wieshaupt conceived his religion of Socialist Secular Humanism in post-Reformation Europe, he was faced with a new challenge. Information was ubiquitous. So to control mankind and establish his master-slave new world order, Wieshaupt conceived a new moral code which we call Political Correctness. Its purpose was to render being judgmental a crime against humanity.
All opinions, cultures, religions, political systems and behaviors are to be accepted, even respected - now matter how contradictory, errant, or immoral. There is no right or wrong, no heaven or hell. So even with all of the world's knowledge at one's fingertips, it no longer does them any good, because they can't discriminate between good and evil, between truth and fiction.
This is the reason America (OR THE WEST) will be destroyed and why there is no longer any hope for the fallen nation. No matter how many religious and political lies are exposed and condemned, most people's suneidesis/nesamah/conscience has been too scarred for it to do any good. Hope is now only personal and individual.
Couldnt of said it any better myself.
