Australia: Muslim threatens to kill his daughter for renouncing Islam for Christianity

The girl, meanwhile, is being tried for killing her mother.

Memo to the Courier-Mail: renounced, not denounced, for pete's sake. "Daughter 'threatened if she denounced Islam,'" by Jeremy Pierce for The Courier-Mail (thanks to Abandonskip):

A GOLD Coast man threatened to kill his daughter and himself if she denounced Islam for Christianity, a court was told yesterday.

The Southport Magistrate's Court heard accused murderer Kaihana Tahsseen Hussain told police her father had once threatened to kill her if she abandoned the Muslim faith.

Hussain has been charged with murdering her mother, Shaheda.

A forensic officer told Hussain's committal hearing yesterday that police also told her the defendant had alleged that her mother had tried to strangle her during an argument three months before the October 2006 tragedy.

Anne-Louise Swain said the teenager's injuries were consistent with her claims that her father Muhammad killed his wife and tried to kill her before turning the knife on himself.

However, Dr Swain could not say categorically whether the teenager's injuries were sustained fending off an attack or from performing the attack.

Hussain is accused of her mother's murder and the attempted murder of her father, allegedly over their opposition to her desire to change religions, just days after the family had moved to the Gold Coast....

Is it possible that it wasn't over their opposition itself, but as a result of that opposition, in simple self-defense?

...Islam , the only religion in which you must fight to leave....

If she is innocent, I hope she is found not guilty.

I may be hasty, but I do not believe for a minute that this girl killed anyone, except possibly in self-defence. It would take Richard Dawkins to believe that a conversion to Christianity has that effect on a person. ON the other hand, we have heard the opposite once or twice. I am surprised that the case was brought at all: do the local prosecutors know nothing of honour killings?

I don't know how this is murder? Where is the premeditation? Looks like she may get off with a lesser charge or Scot-free. In any case the jury will be very sympathetic.

This stinks to high heaven. I doubt a Christian convert would want to kill anyone, but would defend her life against those who would try to kill her, for the sake of Islam or honor.

Muslims love to live in countries with Christian majorities but hate Christianity that much. Beats me!

doubtfull that they would recognise a case of honour killing that went wrong. The girl having screamed to her neighbours that "they want to kill me" would have realised that the presence of so few muslims on the gold coast would mean that no one would understand her plight.
Or the attidude, "honor killings? not here mate, this is queensland" like someone i know who when told there at been an act of terrorism in Sheperd's Bush replied "thenk goodness i live in Holland Park" the next door suburb.
There is only ONE MOSQUE on the Gold coast up near labrador, and i know it sounds unbelievable. The wahhabs have not yet taken a foothold in it, so i hear. We still have a few years left before the start of the onslaught. However Australia is now staring to import more and more Arab oil so they may not be too long coming.

Relax, honour killings are cultural!

It's that darn Australian "the shrimp is on the Barbie" culture.

By the way - the inept use of 'denounced' where 'renounced' would be more suitable is, I am afraid, par for the course with the "Courier Mail". Its standards of language use are not the greatest.

The report doesn't make clear who is the source of the information about the girl's potential apostasy - the father? the girl herself? somebody else?

I wonder whether anyone investigating the case has thought to interview the girl's schoolfriends and schoolteachers, in her former place of residence (in Adelaide) as well as at the Gold Coast, in order to find out whether she was, in fact, showing interest in the Christian faith. Are there any active, professing Christians amongst her former school-friends? Did anyone give her a Bible, or a copy of the Gospels, or a dvd of 'the Jesus film', or a tape of Christian gospel music, or some such?

If it is established that the girl was seriously considering apostasising - even if she had not yet, in fact, done so - that should be a clear indicator, for the judge, lawyers and jury, that her parents, and indeed all her Muslim relatives and Muslim co-religionists generally, would have had a very strong motive for murdering her. In which case I think the girl's account of what happened should be believed, rather than her father's.

Right now this Muslim man from Bangladesh is having to face the fact that for an Infidel jury, in an Infidel court, under Infidel law, the word and witness of a woman - yes, of a mere girl - counts for just as much as the word and witness of a man.

Here is a good post from another blog about this at the time.

I remember it being all over the news here and the islamic angle was mentioned at the time.

Western Resistance also covered this.

What blows my mind is the extent a Muslim parent will go to in seeking revenge against a daughter that disobeyed him. Now I understand that teenagers can drive you to drink, but when my kids were that age, even in my darkest moments, I never wanted to eradicate my offspring from the face of the earth. How do you stay mas for that long, for a couple of years? The Muslim ego is an very dangerous thing and the Muslim person's lack of compassion, mercy or regret is very disturbing. Oh, and their denial of what the Q'uran says about stoning, and beating women, etc., but their absolute insistence that we all follow the Q'uran is pretty irritating, too.

That's, how do you stay mad?

Can this be true that an honour killing victim has finally faught back?

...father atttempted to kill his daughter who is accused of killing her mother...sounds like the Soprano family on their worst day. What is it with these people? (Don't tell me, I know.)

"just days after the family had moved to the Gold Coast...."

Yes the beach culture is hard to resist, and staring out from the sands at the surf she would never ever enjoy , in which others were undoubtly enjoying ..perhaps caused her to contemplate her current religious arrangements.
