"Muslim Councillor Tells Rotterdammer: 'Shut Up, Minority,'" from NISNews (thanks to WriterMom):
ROTTERDAM, 17/01/08 - Labour (PvdA) politician Bouchra Ismaili has reviled a citizen of Rotterdam in an e-mail. The man was told that as a member of the white minority in his district, he should not complain about the Islamic organisation Hizb ut-Tahrir.Ismaili, who has Moroccan nationality, is a council member for PvdA in the Rotterdam district council of Charlois. "You are the immigrants here!!!", she wrote to the white man who drew her attention by e-mail to statements by the controversial Muslim organisation Hizb ut-Tahrir. Ismali also wrote in her e-mail reply to the man: 'Drop dead,' and 'convert to Islam,' Algemeen Dagblad reported yesterday.
Ismaili has had her knuckles rapped by vice-party leader of the PvdA district council party in Charlois, Marco van Dijck. But he has not asked her to resign from the council.
Ismaili says she sent the e-mail in a burst of anger. "I do not want to justify it, but as a Muslim politician, I have for years been harassed by mail from extreme right figures. Normally speaking, I throw them away unread. When I saw the mail at home, something broke in me. All the more because I had heard someone that day say that all Moroccans should be dead. For me, this was the last straw."
Jos Parbleu, the man that received the e-mail from Ismaili, sent hundreds of local politicians an e-mail with statements by Okay Pala of Hizb ut-Tahrir. He is concerned about the rise of this movement, which is monitored by the AIVD secret service. The e-mail from Ismaili that he got back "shows the frightfully disastrous situation in which our country has landed!", he said in the newspaper.

Bad translation. What she really said in Dutch was "jullie zijn hier de allochtonen", the correct translation for this is far more worrying: "you are the people who not originate from this country in this matter".

Addition: An “allochtoon” is a not-Dutch person with a Dutch nationality, who is not necessarily an immigrant.

I don't believe this woman's excuse.
It's true that sometimes people say things in anger that they don't really mean, like when a furious wife tells her husband she doesn't love him anymore.
Far more often, the hot pressure of anger actually results in people no longer being able to censor their politically incorrect (or downright bigoted) feelings any longer and ... well ... the truth about how they really feel comes out.
This woman is a religious supremacist bigot and the Nederlanders need to throw her off the committee.
And the man who received this invective should sue for hate speech.
Hopefully this lapse in deceit will result in her being voted out of office, but given the majority status of her position (as she is so quick to point out), I doubt that.
The most disturbing point about this is the OBVIOUS, USUALLY HIDDEN, INTENT SHE HAS TO DEMAND, IF NOT FORCE, CONVERSION TO ISLAM.

As the law professors, when in class, or more likely on exams, compose little stories, with their fact-patterns, that are said to take place in the fabled State of Ames, in the storied City of Langdell, let's vary the hypothetical.
Or rather, since the excerpts above represent a real case, in the city of Rotterdam, in a country called the Netherlands, let's not "vary the hypothetical" but offer a hypothetical.
Here's that hypothetical.
A member of a municipal council, having her attention drawn in a series of emails from a consistuent to the increasing activities of a group known to promote hatred, violence, and terrorism, sends back a message that reads "You are the immigrants here" and "Drop dead" and -- here's that hypothetical -- "convert to Christianity."
What would happen to her? Would she retain her job?
And let's vary the hypothetical wildly. Let's do one more thing. Let's pretend that lady lives not in the suicidally-tolerant Netherlands, but in some Muslim-ruled country, and let's assume that she is a Christian, and not a citizen of the Muslim-ruled country (or let's assume she is such a citizen, say a Copt in Egypt, for the outcome would be the same) -- and she emailed a Muslim constituent "you are the immigrants here" and "drop dead" and "convert to Christianity."
So, in answer to this hypothetical in your expectant blue-books, tell me exactly how long it would take for that woman to be killed, and would it be done by a mob or a single individual, and would she be tortured for only a few minutes before being killed, or for a longer period?
You have one minute to answer. It shouldn't take any longer than that.

...48 hours by a mob (led by rageboy types). if tortured, she would be tortured up to moment of her last breath...

Yet, in the news item below this one, the British policeman was let go for an insensitive Santa gift to a fellow officer. Different countries, of course, but a common theme. Muslim feelings always count for more, whether they are feelings of anger or hurt.

Answers to Hugh Fitzgerald's hypotheticals:
If the woman were Christian:
1. She'd be fired immediately.
2. Someone would leak the email and her life would be threatened. She'd spend the rest of her life on the lam, not protected by the government, since she no longer belonged to a political party.
3. There would be riots beginning, oddly enough, after Friday prayers. Various flags and people would be burned in effigy. Someone might get shot or stabbed to death. Cars and buses would be torched. Local media reports would deny most of it.
4. Muslim leaders would demand that the Pope apologize, whether the woman was Catholic or not.
5. During the ensuing furor, the original recipient of the email would say, "I'm sorry about all the fuss; I don't know how the email was leaked. I accepted her apology and was willing to forgive, after all, that's what Jesus (peace be upon him) would do." (Proving that Muslims are better Christians than the Christians.)
6. More government money would be given to Muslim groups to foster community outreach and dialogue. More money would go to sensitivity training for non-Muslims and more lessons on the glories of Islam would be added to school curricula.

What is so enraging for me in this is not so much that stupid bigot Ismali's comments, but that the Dutch are continually on their knees before Moslems. Such cowardly people. Perhaps they deserve to disappear from world history. How can anyone respect a country which won't stand up against even the mildest threat to its own existence? We're not asking they oppose the Nazi war machine; just some low-life filth they could easily rid themselves of. And yet, they can't bend their knees fast enough. Odd. And pathetic.

The only exception being if the mob was lead by Rage Boy himself. If she accepted his proposal of marriage, she would be spared, since it's Rage Boy's deepest desire to marry a Christian woman and convert her.
