A UGANDAN pilgrim to Mecca is being detained in Saudi Arabia for alleged theft, the Uganda Hajj Mission has revealed. Under the Islamic law, or Sharia, he faces amputation of the left hand.Hajji Suudi Nsereko was arrested on December 19 during the climax of the Hajj rites, according to the mission's chairman, Sheikh Ibrahim Kirya.
The Uganda Hajj Mission is one of the organisations that facilitate Muslims to travel to Mecca for the pilgrimage.
Nsereko was among over 1,000 Ugandans who left for Mecca last month to perform the annual pilgrimage. Kirya said it took them two days to discover that Nsereko was missing.
"We managed to trace him after four days at Mecca police station and we helped him record a statement because he could neither speak English nor Arabic."

You know that there are Muslim apologists who will claim that these sorts of punishments were used by Christians in the Dark Ages..............of course, we don't use them anymore. But Islamic Republics do. Why?
It's in the Qur'an! Unless the basis of Islam is changed or subjected to true scholarship, the 7th century will continue to exist in Islam countries ruled by Sharia.

Being a non-arabic speaker, the man probably thought that he was robbing non-Muslims in a non-Muslim country - aka fair game.

I don't care what they do in arabia. I'm more concerned about what they do here - the U.S.A. What scares me is what will happen when/if they establish sharia law here.

With all the clamor among Muslims for "justice," readers should be reminded that cutting off the hand of a thief has nothing to do with justice at all. A close reading of sharia law will show that the punishment applies only to property removed in a clandestine or secretive way. Therefore, embezzlement (e.g., by government officials) is exempt, as is armed robbery, as is kidnapping, as is confiscation by superior force. So, this cruel punishment is applied only to theft (sarika) by a weak person, such as the poor Ugandan.
The Hajj is celebrated as a time when Muslims from all over the world can fulfill their religious duty in racial, economic, and social equality. Yes, that's going to play real well back in Uganda!
