"They can't turn us all into criminals for having a free opinion in a free country"

"Well, once again free speech is under attack from a small group of Muslim fanatics." Pat Condell (thanks to Hot Air) speaks here eloquently and passionately about the Steyn case in Canada and its larger implications.

Watch it all.

I love this guy...He has numerous videos on Youtube.
He speaks directly and pulls no punches. He's right, they can't arrest us all for hurting muslims feelings...The more free speech is tortured on behalf of muslims, the bigger the group of objectors becomes...

I watched it. Great. Love his description of Islam as a "repressive medieval ideology."

So true. So true.

Pat Condell is like waterfall of cold, clear water after a storm of flying b.s. from the p.c. Imbecilocracy.

Keep hoisting the fools with their own folly, Pat!

When it comes to Islam, Condell speaks truth to power on what we see so obviously here as their non assimilating intrusions into Western Culture.

Canada's Human rights groups have inadvertantly become the thought police for Muslim efforts to control and suppress freedom of speech. And oh what a confused, and multicultural irony that is as they blindly do the bidding of this highly controlling and mostly political machine that Islam.

One asks the question as to whether Canadian human rights commissioners have legal backgrounds and operate from the laws of Canada and their founding constitution?

I to have seen other Condell you tube videos.

Read about Pat Condell's background here from Wikepedia.

His initials are the ultimate oxymoron!;o)

Keep it up Pat!

Dinesh D'Souza describes Pat Condell as a "self-congratulatory buffoon." That's a phrase -- were I Dinesh D'Souza -- I'd be wary of using.

Here's is another example of Muslims attempting to control or suppress freedom of speech.

On the Website " ACT FOR AMERICA - They deal here with what is called the tourist libel suit.

A filed by wealthy Saudi businessman, Khaled bin Mahfouz against Dr. Rachel Ehrenfled, author of "Funding Evil" in the London law courts.

Comments on this article could quite easily apply to MP Geert Wilders 10 minute film on Islam in the Netherlands on "Jihadwatch".

Apparently the Iranian Mp thinks that the Hague should act on behalf of them to suppress free speech in the Netherlands

I think we could muster up pages of lawsuits filed by Muslims in the Western World IE-- at least two well known ones against airlines--the flying Imans in Minnesota, and the San Diego one at Lindberg field for starts. Probably "Muslim lawsuits" would work on the search engine--

Once again Pat Condell hits the nail squarely on its head. Many more such blows are needed but he's certainly doing his share. Bravo Pat!

Pat Condell tells it like it is. If it hurts your itsy bitsy feelings and you feel that justifies making a federal case out of it, don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way off the planet.

Mind bending truth.

I agree with most of what this man says, even though his anti-catholic stance sometimes seems rather unfair to my ears (I consider myself a gnostic with mostly Christian values)

I still believe that while there are many things wrong within the Roman-Catholic church, the overall result for the world is mostly a positive one (because so many of the values os Catholicism are positive - whether many so called Catholics actually follow what they preach, that is a whole diferent thing...)

Regardless, Pat is a no-bs orator with a mostly objective and humorous speach that hits the common man of the street right where it should. Humour and sarcasm used by someone of intelligence make a powerful combo.

Keep up the good work!

I may be making a big reach here, but I am wondering if journalists aren't beginning to react in the only way a free press can react to the constant censoring of speech.

Wow - and to think if Hillary gets in office and passes the so-called hate speech laws it will happen in the USA and most Americans are clueless about this. This is so true about the PC crowd in the USA. I hope Michael Savage wins in his case against CAIR. keep fighting for our rights Mr Savage!!!

I agree with this man that the only thing these Muslims will get out of their attack on free speech is resentment by non-Muslims. Sadly, this could even turn to violence towards the Muslim community which would be trajic.

Mackie: "One asks the question as to whether Canadian human rights commissioners have legal backgrounds and operate from the laws of Canada and their founding constitution?"

That's the crux of the issue. The various human rights commissions were originally set up as a kind of "small claims" court if you will, to deal with relatively minor issues of discrimination in employment or housing. They were designed so that an average citizen, who could not afford a lawyer while their employer could, could have a hearing.

Alan Borovoy, who is with the Canadian Civil Liberties Assoc., and helped establish the HRCs has now stated he is horrified at what is happening and that was never their purpose. Of course, many among us would say this end was inevitable. From what I've gathered, the various adjudicators are unqualified legally to hear cases such as Levant's or Macleans' which bring to bear the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Indeed, by accepting such a complaint, they have made a joke of the constitution which is what the Charter is.

I sincerely hope they have bitten off more than they bargained for and it will blow up in their faces big time. I am puzzled though why most of the MSM have refused to touch this issue, National Post excepted. As for me, I've just subscribed to Macleans, something I hadn't done in over twenty years. Screw you jihadis and HRCs.

Pat makes the excellent point that our freedoms are not taken seriously by many because we've had two generations that, in general, have not had to fight for those freedoms. We've been coasting on the cultural momentum our parents and grandparents produced, at great sacrifice, to ensure that we would have those freedoms.

But it seems that freedom, like money, goes unappreciated when given instead of earned. We've got the impression that "freedom grows on trees".

As we lose cultural momentum, history prepares a new lesson for us.

Let's hope our society can crack the books and learn the lesson before it is beaten into us.

No I don't think it was, I think it was genuine concern. I am a Brit and very pro- American, not that that would help me trying to get into America now. I am white Anglo Saxon and protestant, which would certainly guarantee a full body search. There are many here in Europe worry just as much what is happening in America, as you do about what is happening Europe. When it comes to feeding at the bountiful trough supplied by the American taxpayer, Black water and Haliburton have got there trotters and snout well and truly in. My Granddad used to say that money was made round to go round one wonders how much of the money from the contracts these firms received finds it way back into the Republican coffers, or the Democrates for that matter. Haliburton have just received a contract for I think $375,000,000 to build internment camps in the USA. for 2,500,000 million people from FEMA. I wonder who they intend to put into them? Black Water is a private security firm, they have I think 20,000 contractors. I think that is what they call themselves, mercenaries would be a better word. They also have a fleet of planes, They are in fact a private army subsidized by the American people. They operate below the radar and there is no, congressional oversight. They operate in Iraq, where will they operate next? Hopefully not in the U.S.A. But that is certainly not beyond the realms of possibility, remember they are only guns for hire, and if you want to know what effect mercenary army can have on a country you have only to read the history of John Hawkwood with his mercenary army who sold themselves to the highest bidder in Italy during the 14th century. Sarcastic the comment might have been, but it certainly wasn't a sop to the left it was a warning.

Posted by: Cornelius [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 21, 2008 6:24 PM

My favorite quote in his "The Trouble with Islam" video is when he's talking about women in England who wear the veil:

"Muslim women in Britain who cover their faces are mentally ill. Now I realize that in some parts of the world women don't actually have any choice in this matter, governed as they are by primitive pigs whose only achievement in life is to be born with a penis in one hand and a koran in the other."

Yeah, that pretty well tells the story right there!

Hugh said: "Dinesh D'Souza describes Pat Condell as a "self-congratulatory buffoon." That's a phrase -- were I Dinesh D'Souza -- I'd be wary of using."

So true. Most speakers start with a joke. D'Souza starts by patting himself on the back.

A case of projection, no doubt.

Posted by: Brett_McS [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 21, 2008 8:27 PM

Funny, isn't it, that this man espouses anti-Catholic views too, yet no Catholic Canadians (of whom there are far more than Muslim Canadians, I'm sure) are clamoring for his rights to be violated.

Posted by: kaffirchick [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 21, 2008 8:28 PM

@Holger,

To clarify, America certainly has some very real fiscal problems - chronic trade and budget deficits and a 9 trillion dollar debt - that are on the cusp of becoming irremediable.

But if you actually believe that Haliburton and Black Water will someday become the instruments of which dark forces in America will take over the government, I can only suggest that your vision of the world is closer to that of the far Left, the far Right and the Islamists....than you are probably aware of.

Holger, do some real research and you might discover that those contracts from Fema have to do with the expected New Madrid event.
Katrina left the thought that the government was not prepared for the center of the US turning into a bowl of shaking jello.

Posted by: Aunt Bea [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 22, 2008 6:51 AM

Dear Cornelius,

I certainly hope so, but a country that does not control 100% organized violence in its land is a country at war with itself, it is as simple as that. I said in my last comment that Black Water are are nothing more than guns for hire and I stick by that remark. America would do well to make sure that these private armies are disbanded just to be certain that nothing can happen.

Deep Regards

Posted by: Holger Dansker [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 22, 2008 12:50 PM

Dear Aunt Bea,

You might be right, but why would the largest camps that Haliburton are building be in Alaska for 500.000, when the perceived problem is in the Mississippi valley? Perhaps the New Madrid event was the real reason or could it be the excuse? Why not California? Surely the San Andraus fault is a greater danger to a larger population.

Deep Regards

How can one who worships pedophilia, rape, and extortion be ordinary? The syllogism is Islam = radical = all Moslems are radical (i.e., not ordinary).

Thanks Robert, for standing up for the freedom of speech.

However, you should be aware that by cussing and going after "religious people" as if they were one bunch, you're actually commiting two fatal mistakes:

1. You put yourself right into the box where the islamists want you, i.e the ungodly, atheist westener box. Believe me, they love it! (You don't think a mainly atheist society has any power against Islam in the long run do you?)

2. You're making one of the classical westerner- dhimmitude mistakes by not daring to point out who is really threatening freedom of speech and wanting to supress christians, jews, buddhists, hindus, atheists and whatever, namely: islamists! (not just any religious people)
You're blaming innocent people in order to appear free of bias.

Also remember: atheist societies aren't famous for liberty (just think of the Gulag and Auschwitz or the Fields of Death in Cambodia.

Posted by: Linus [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 26, 2008 7:32 PM

Linus, I think you're reading too much into Robert putting up this video. It doesn't mean that Robert approves of everything Pat Condell has to say in all his videos (or even all he has to say in this one). I'm sure Robert would take issue with a lot of the anti-Christian stuff, as I would too (even though i don't believe in God(s).

As for a contest between whether a mostly Christian or mostly atheistic society is better suited to holding off the scourge of supremacist Islam... let's agree that the two working together --and with many others too -- would be strongest of all. Robert has consistently said that he wants a Big Tent.
