Church of England giving $500,000 for multi-faith building in which largest space reserved for Muslims

Some might characterize this as a generous ecumenical gesture, but in any case it is one that will never in a million years be remotely reciprocated. "Church of England donates cash to aid Muslim prayer," by Ruth Gledhill for The Times (thanks to Jeffrey Imm):

A diocese of the Church of England is giving an unprecedented £250,000 towards a multi-faith building in which the largest amount of worship space will be reserved for Muslims.

The Guildford diocese is one of the wealthiest in the UK. The Bishop of Guildford, the Right Rev Christopher Hill, today handed over the £250,000 cheque to Surrey University for the first multi-faith building of its kind in Britain.

The £6.5 million building will contain separate worship spaces for the Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Sikh communities, along with a further shared space for Buddhists and Hindus.

All faiths will share the cafe in the basement, with a shared staircase down from the upper floors.

Converting each other will be strictly forbidden, an insider said, but it is hoped that the different faith members will form friendships, learn to respect each other and enhance each other’s understanding.

Muslim chaplain Dr Abdul Mateen Sansom, said: “As well as being a sorely needed practical solution to student needs, I believe the design and underpinning ethos of this project have potential for notable impact nationally and internationally.”

I expect it will at that.

Islam is the Religion That will dominate over all Other Religions

Allah said next,

(It is He Who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth.) `Guidance' refers to the true narrations, beneficial faith and true religion that the Messenger came with. `religion of truth' refers to the righteous, legal deeds that bring about benefit in this life and the Hereafter.

(to make it (Islam) superior over all religions) It is recorded in the Sahih that the Messenger of Allah said,

«إِنَّ اللهَ زَوَى لِي الْأَرْضَ مَشَارِقَهَا وَمَغَارِبَهَا، وَسَيَبْلُغُ مُلْكُ أُمَّتِي مَا زُوِيَ لِييِمنْهَا»

(Allah made the eastern and western parts of the earth draw near for me [to see], and the rule of my Ummah will extend as far as I saw.) Imam Ahmad recorded from Tamim Ad-Dari that he said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah saying,

(This matter (Islam) will keep spreading as far as the night and day reach, until Allah will not leave a house made of mud or hair, but will make this religion enter it, while bringing might to a mighty person (a Muslim) and humiliation to a disgraced person (who rejects Islam). Might with which Allah elevates Islam (and its people) and disgrace with which Allah humiliates disbelief (and its people).) Tamim Ad-Dari [who was a Christian before Islam] used to say, "I have come to know the meaning of this Hadith in my own people. Those who became Muslims among them acquired goodness, honor and might. Disgrace, humiliation and Jizyah befell those who remained disbelievers.''

(34. O you who believe! Verily, there are many of the Ahbar (rabbis) and the Ruhban (monks) who devour the wealth of mankind in falsehood, and hinder (them) from the way of Allah. And those who hoard up gold and silver and spend them not in the way of Allah, announce unto them a painful torment.) (35. On the Day when that will be heated in the fire of Hell and with it will be branded their foreheads, their flanks, and their backs, (and it will be said unto them:) "This is the treasure which you hoarded for yourselves. Now taste of what you used to hoard.'')

I wonder how long it will take before the Muslims start to whine and then take over the entire building, because of the belief that Islam must dominate all other religions, and not be dominated

All faiths will share the cafe in the basement, with a shared staircase down from the upper floors.
So will the food there be halal? If yes, that will be forbidden to Jews, Sikhs and many Hindus, while if it isn't, Mohammedans can't have it. Or will the cafe have separate cooking and dining areas?
Converting each other will be strictly forbidden, an insider said, but it is hoped that the different faith members will form friendships, learn to respect each other and enhance each other’s understanding.
Yeah, right! If one wants to prevent conversions, keep them segregated. Or bunch the Jews, Hindus and Sikhs together, since they don't proselytize, and have separate chambers for Mohammedans and Christians and others who do.

Also, what if forming friendships, learning to respect one another (across faiths) and enhancing each other's understanding violates the dictates of any religion - like, say, the one we discuss here all the time?

Christian doctrine teaches that Jesus is the only path to salvation. So why would a Christian church want to encourage people of another faith down a different path which their own doctrine teaches leads to destruction? This makes no sense to me.

It's bad enough having Sudis funding mosque building etc without our own established church doing it.

Skaught says:
“Christian doctrine teaches that Jesus is the only path to salvation. So why would a Christian church want to encourage people of another faith down a different path which their own doctrine teaches leads to destruction? This makes no sense to me.”

My thoughts exactly. I wonder if the Church of England is really looking for new converts through a novel ‘back-door’ approach such as this or worse: if they have forsaken the idea of new coverts altogether. A really a scary thought but, with Arch Bishop Roland William’s insanity over allowing sharia law in England, I wonder if they’ve given up on the ‘Great Commission’ to go and spread the Gospel – “The Good News” – completely.

Skaught, that is a wonderful question that no church leader dare answer.

The Church of England would not operate a brothel, a pub, or a casino, but they are encouraging others to spiritual debauchery and damnation just the same. That is, if you believe in damnation and salvation.

The Muslim distortion and caricature of Jesus is the most offensive anti-Christian text around. Nowhere else is the ignorance and cluelessness of Mohammed more evident than in his treatment of the life of Christ and the crucifixion and resurrection.
The whole 'switched bodies' on the cross etc. is just so condescending, off-the-cuff fabricated and DEEPLY OFFENSIVE. The whole message of Jesus went by this murderous kiddie-banger and the Quran doesn't even bother to comment.

Christians and Christianity must recoil with loathing from this so-called religion and not in anyway 'fellowship' with it. No Christian who has any understanding of Islam can in good conscience have anything to do with it.

The only reason I condemn this action by the Church of England is that it enables Muslims to continue their conquest without challenge. Of all people who atheists and agnostics would expect to resist Islamization of the West, it would be Christians. Who would have guessed that a Christian church would aid and abet their own destruction? If the West sinks, atheists and agnostics will also go down with the ship.

I don't care what one worships as long as no one dictates what I and others like me believe or don't believe.

It could be said that this is money well spent. Consider the Happy Slappy Bible thumping types full to the brim with fellowship and goodwill brought face to face with the intolerance of Islam in their new environment of ‘sharing’……this will be educational for more than a few methinks, which can only be a good thing in the long run. For most of those participating in this experiment it may be their first close connection to the Muslim way of doing things and might just prove to be a turning point for some. It brings to mind that old saying “Be careful what you wish for”.

Doglover, I don't know how long it wil take either, but in an undetermined period of time this "arena" will be 100% Muslim.

I see conflict; familiarity breeds contempt. The hymn singing and organ music should be especially irritating to the Muslem side. Muslim's seeing men and women walking through the same door and sitting side by side will be the second source of conflict.

This will not work, except it will give the Christian parishioners an up close and personal view of Islamic intolerance. Sunday mornings should be very interesting.

One article of faith for left wingers is a belief in multiculturalism. Anyone who dares to question this is welcomed like a turd in the punchbowl. At best, questioners are viewed as quaint primitives. If they are able to back up their multi-culti scepticism with argument, they are classified as evil. In the C of E and the American Episcopal Church you can doubt the existence of God or advocate gay marriage, but do not dare challenge the civic religion of multiculturalism.

Posted by: LondonBorn&Bred [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 22, 2008 4:10 PM

Is anyone still even slightly convinced that this sort of thing on the part of a Christian church represents faith in the Christian religion?

It's hard to know what to make of this, but I would have to say at the least that the word "ironic" has to apply to the fact that our hard won religious tolerance in the West, the tolerance that Islam gives the impression it will never even respect, much less emulate, has had as its ultimate development a kind of sentimental indifference, according to which the actual beliefs of everyone from Saint Augustine to Adolf Harnack have been replaced with a mushy headed "generalism" which sees religion as "good will" and "niceness" expressed through doctrines which are in reality no more than "hypothetical verbal constructs", or some such thing, to be taken about as literally as Mother Goose.

I suppose that's better than burning people
at the stake, but the pretense that it represents "religion" is beginning to border on the comic. Stronger belief systems are poised to make themselves felt. I don't have any difficulty naming one of them.

Posted by: doglover [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 22, 2008 8:45 PM

Leftwingers, believers in multiculturalism, are atheists at heart? That question is asked after the Church of England announces a huge jizya payment, and the Archbishop of Canterbury said what he said. Remember, all those good Christians signed that butt kissing letter to the Muslim leaders. Seems to me too many leftwingers occupy leadership positions in the church.

Oh, I get it. The Church of England is led by people who ain't real Christians, the Ab of C ain't a real Christian either. Same goes for the letter signees.

The problem is leftwingers are atheists? Hardly.

Atheists are not handing our civilization over to the jihadists as much as your church leaders seem to be doing. The center of multicultralism lies in the hearts of those weepy-eyed Christian who believe that they have 2000 years of Christian atrocities to make up for.

No problems for the rest of the money. The Saudis, though not keen on giving aid to Tsunami victims in a Muslim country such as Indonesia, can always be relied on to back such a venture, that puts Islam in a dominant position, by virtue of space to Muslims.

Our leaders, both spiritual and temporal, continue to show a complete lack of understanding to the threat and its MO. The way the CofE is going, it is going to "tolerate" itself out of existence, and take Britain with it.

Stephen Gash SIOE England, said...

"What is the point of being a Christian in the Church of England?"

Considering the title Times story.....
....non at all.

"He that serves God for money will serve the devil for better wages."
Sir Roger L’Estrange (1616-1704)

The Church of England is clearly not serving, *worshipping*, the Holy One of Israel, er, *our* God.

Personally, i would suggest to any Christians who are challenged [who are depressed] by this story, to read your Bible [KJV] privately [and often], and *pray to God*.

God will help and bless, all who worship Him in such a way.

Our God requires that we each have a *personal* relationship with Him.

John 4:22
Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews [i.e. Jesus - the Jewish Messiah].
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

"Multi-faith"?

Isn't that the most moronic of oxymorons?

"Multi-faith" just means:

"We have lost our will to believe in our faith."

Islam is a late gnostic heresy. ("Ebionitism", with some "Pelagianism" icing.)

How can that be considered acceptible in a "Christian" setting, except as a tactical way to try to convert them back from their straying path?

"Multi-faith" is no faith.

.....on return to Earth removes Jizya 'tax' [paid by all non-muslims, in muslim jurisdictions] i.e. now non-muslims within any muslim jurisdiction will have a choice to convert to ISLAM, or be killed!, is an 'enforcer' of ISLAMIC faith, is a miraculous healer,
BUT is.....
*not* a Jewish messiah, is
*not* the 'first-born' Son of God, did
*not* die on a cross, was
*not* crucified, was
*not* resurrected by Allah,
....but was whisked away to heaven by Allah, to return to Earth at the 'end-time', on his return is subordinate to al-Mahdi, is a destroyer of the polytheistic Christian church at the 'end-time', at his return is 'sanctified' to kill all Christians who still reject Allah / ISLAM.

Thanks for that informative link. Yeah, the Jesus created by Muslims is so perverse that I can hardly believe what I read on that link. I knew that they didn't think that Christ died on the cross, but I had no idea that they taught that Christ would return at the end-time to kill all Christians. What an evil and twisted fable. It in no way reflects Jesus Christs true character.

champ,

"I knew that they didn't think that Christ died on the cross, but I had no idea that they taught that Christ would return at the end-time to kill all Christians. What an evil and twisted fable. It in no way reflects Jesus Christs true character."

According to some Islamic traditions, the Muslim Jesus will also go to Jerusalem and announce to the whole world that Christians are wrong, then he will break a cross, then will become the last Islamic Caliph of the whole world, to lead the extermination of Jews and Christians.

I believe there's a word for that character: Anti-Christ...

Posted by: cantor [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 23, 2008 4:04 AM

I have to agree with the gentleman who said that Christians are a lot responsible for the situation that churches like the church of England is right now.

The moment the Christians reduce the importance of God's Word, the Holy Bible, things like that will happen.

The church of england is the result of decaes of giving to the secular world the oportunity to install it's morals on the general population.

Now, since the church of england has given its soul too the demons, there is very little for a Christian to do there, rather than "come out of her" lest he "share in her sins".

This is another reason why Christians should not become politicized, meaning, compromisingthe Truth of the Bible for "political" benifits.

But anyway, if even the archDhimmi says that shariah is coming, what can we expect from the followers, right?

Posted by: Crusader [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 23, 2008 9:11 AM

Right, cantor. Mohammedans believe that in the future Jesus the slave of allah will assist allah in destroying both Judaism and Christianity, with Islam becoming the world's sole religion.

And we're supposed to "understand" and "accept" that utterly evil twisted lie in the interests of multiculturalism. Sorry, nope, I ain't doin' it.

On another thread someone posted that Nostadamas predicted the next world war to be in 2010. That's only 2 years away. Concerning the alacrity with which Mohammedans are taking over - I believe it. Our next president will be a world war president - something that could have been averted if dhimmi Bush had only retaliated immediately after 9/11. I believe McCain would have immediately retaliated. Bush sold us out to the Barbarians after 9/11. I'm really po'd at him for his continuing "rop" crapola.

Posted by: darcy [TypeKey Profile Page] at February 23, 2008 9:38 AM

This decision by the Church makes perfectly good sense, if you realize it is 'appeasement', based on 'fear'. The muslims involved can smell that fear and advance accordingly...It won't be long till Islam owns the Church...

In the world today, among all people of faith, a line is being drawn in the sand by our LORD, and God.

Isaiah 52:10
The LORD hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
11 Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD.
12 For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rereward.

Revelation 18:4
And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Isaiah 25:6
¶And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.
7 And he will destroy in this mountain the face of *the covering cast over all people*, and *the vail that is spread over all nations*.

There is, however, one peculiar twist to the Islamic Jesus which must stare Muslims in the face, yet which they never deal with. The title Isa al-Masih is obviously "Jesus the Messiah." When the Anointed of the LORD shows up, what possible need is there for a further "prophet"?

More shame to the Church of England for selling out the Christian faith!

A Song of the English

Fair is our lot -- O goodly is our heritage!
(Humble ye, my people, and be fearful in your mirth!)
For the Lord our God Most High
He hath made the deep as dry,
He hath smote for us a pathway to the ends of all the Earth!

Yea, though we sinned -- and our rulers went from righteousness --
Deep in all dishonour though we stained our garments' hem.
Oh be ye not dismayed,
Though we stumbled and we strayed,
We were led by evil counsellors -- the Lord shall deal with them!

Hold ye the Faith -- the Faith our Fathers sealed us;
Whoring not with visions -- overwise and overstale.
Except ye pay the Lord
Single heart and single sword,
Of your children in their bondage shall He ask them treble-tale!

Keep ye the Law -- be swift in all obedience --
Clear the land of evil, drive the road and bridge the ford.
Make ye sure to each his own
That he reap where he hath sown;
By the peace among Our peoples let men know we serve the Lord!

. . . . .

Hear now a song -- a song of broken interludes --
A song of little cunning; of a singer nothing worth.
Through the naked words and mean
May ye see the truth between
