Pakistan blocks YouTube for 'blasphemous' content

How ironic that a site that has richly earned the moniker DhimmiTube still can't please the Pakistanis.

"Pakistan blocks YouTube for 'blasphemous' content: officials," from AFP (thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist):

ISLAMABAD (AFP) — Pakistan has ordered all Internet service providers to block the YouTube website for containing "blasphemous" content and material considered offensive to Islam, officials said Sunday.

An inter-ministerial committee has decided to block YouTube because it contained "blasphemous content, videos and documents," a government official told AFP.

"The site will remain blocked till further orders," he said.

Other officials said the site had been blocked because it contained controversial sketches of the Prophet Mohammed which were republished by Danish newspapers earlier this month.

One major service provider, Micronet, said in an email to subscribers that the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority had directed all ISPs to block access to YouTube "for containing blasphemous web content/movies."...

So the dhimmi-tube isn't dhimmi enough for Pakistan. Another proof that no amount of consessions is going to appease Islam.

I would like to know how they propose to carry out this action.

Unless they invoke a complete surveilance of the entire network.

They are full of shit.

The sad thing is these officials are probably thinking that this will keep the average thug on the street from getting riled up.
Misguided

Since there are a huge number of pro-Jihad videos on youtube, this is a somewhat self-defeating action.

The really bad part about this is in the next line of the article:

"Meanwhile Internet users can write to YouTube.com to remove the objectionable web content/movies because this removal would enable the authorities to order un-blocking of this website," the email said.

In other words, censor anti-Islamic videos by removing completely so no one can view them, muslim or non-muslim.

Pakistan's blockage isn't only about 'protecting' muslim sensibilities, but also an attempt to have ALL videos that oppse islam removed.

Lets hope YouTube doesn't cave.

this is stupid, Pakistani could claim that a roomful of Muslim men with their behind the air praying to their moon god allha is offensivepersonally I found the rage boy on one of Utube video calling for the murder of anyone opposing them, and the taking of our wives as war booty. I know in my wives case would be dangerous for the rage boy because she trained as a hard rock minerand most minors. My wife included know how to set dynamite charges

Muslims should turn off all electronic apparatuses.

Being in the presence of electricity gives a biological sensation similar to the effects of alcohol.

In effect, they are in contact with a polluting, haram infidel technology.

Pull the plug, Islam!

Awesome! Now if only one would get Youtube to purge all pro-Islamic clips from their archives…

As for the Pakis, I guess that they will have to go to some other portal to watch their beheading videos

PapaBear @ 9:44 AM:

"Fire and Water" - Pretty funny - don't think I'd want to mess with these guys.

"Open Season" - That video has been up on YouTube for a long time. And although I appreciate the sentiments, I find the rock and rap format to be a turn off.

"Rave Party in Iran" - Outstanding! TV evangelists could take lessons from this guy!!! Is there a MEMRI translation available? And is this the guy who a few days ago was reported to have had a seizure or stroke in the middle of his harangue?
