Egyptian soccer star's wife accused of insulting Islam for removing veil

Not that wearing it is compulsory or anything. She is free to insult Islam, and to face the consequences for doing so. "Egypt goalie slammed for move to Swiss club; Wife accused of insulting Islam for removing veil," from Al-Arabiya (thanks to Morgaan Sinclair):

...Adding to his troubles, a picture of Hadary's wife appearing in public in Switzerland without the veil has also drawn criticism back home.

Religious watchdog group Hamasna ("Our Enthusiasm"), which led the International Campaign for Defending Hijab a week ago, issued a statement urging Hadary's wife Sabrine to put the veil back on.

"We understand that the situation of Muslim women in the West is a special case, but she has to amend what she did before other players' wives follow her example," the statement read. "She must realize that her husband is a player in Egyptian national football, and they are a religious team."

The Grand Imam of al-Azhar has issued a fatwa – religious ruling – saying that Muslim women living in the West can take off the veil if required under local laws. The fatwa, issued in the context of the ban on the veil in educational institutions in France, sparked much controversy at the time.

Hamasna said it supports Hadary and wishes him luck in his new club. It added that he should continue to kneel in prayer when his team scores a goal and not feel awkward about performing the religious act on the field even with his new Swiss team.

"The God of Switzerland is the God of Cairo and the God of [Ghanaian city] Kumasi, the God of all the people," the group said....

"Islam elevates women"

A religious team?

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ Who said: If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

What utter poppycock listening to these who presume to "know" the mind of their god. Mohammedism is a mess, with multiple sides and multiple opinions. That makes it a lot like Christianity, except Christians don't intimidate, cut your hands off or stone you to death for disagreeing with their particular brand of Christianity.

Big difference.

We understand that the situation of Muslim women in the West is a special case......

Really? How is that theologically possible? It's required or it's not, right? Help me understand, too.

Hamasna ("Our Enthusiasm") foolishily states:
"The God of Switzerland is the God of Cairo and the God of [Ghanaian city] Kumasi, the God of all the people," the group said....

Only as far as the Mohammedan moon ‘god’ is really Satan in disguise to the “Swiss – to Cairo – and to all people” A lie is a lie is a lie – read John 14:6.

Seize Her!

"The God of Switzerland is the God of Cairo..."

That supremacist conceit and its concrete realization is the ulterior motive for most, if not all, of these Mohammedan agitations we see around the world, from the Islamic Medical Association insisting that Muslim nurses not bare their arms to scrub up to the thousands of Muslims calling for the death of the schoolteacher accused of blaspheming Mohammed.

Isn't life difficult enough with out having the thought police monitor your every move? By all means, let's throw out the U.S. Constitution in favor of Sharia so we all live under this crap.

Memo to Hadary and his wife: don't go home. Ever.

The Grand Imam of al-Azhar has issued a fatwa – religious ruling – saying that Muslim women living in the West can take off the veil if required under local laws.

Which carries the implication that they may NOT take off the veil UNLESS required by local law

Kneel in prayer when his team scores a goal. Do they think Allah really cares? What happens when an Egyptian team plays another Muslim counrty's team? Could Allah fix it so they both win?

Everytime Alabama plays Auburn, I pray that they both lose - ain't happened yet.

Isn't it funny how these folks have a habit of finding offense at anything at the drop of a hat...or a veil in this case?

Or a teddy bear named mo?

Or some cartoons printed in a Danish newspaper?

And yet...they find suicide bombers perfectly acceptable?

Acceptable for fathers teaching their children to hate, and to kill?

Acceptable for family members to kill sisters and daughters who date men outside the faith, or who were raped--to preserve their "honor?"

Acceptable their main "prophet" married a prepubscent girl?

And they still insist islam is a religion?

Join the club - I feel insulted too - Islam be gone!

A religious team?

None of these mahometan teams ever win anything.. so they are "religious" instead.

They are known, however, for particularly violent, despicable and unsportsman-like behavior toward their opponents. See Turkey-Switzerland when the intrepid Swiss knocked the Turks out of the qualifiers for the last World Cup.

See also the torture and beheadings of footballers who dared return home after a loss.. see Iran/Saddam [is it still legal to call *him*] Hussein Iraq.

I still think that Turkey should play in the Asian division and Israel should be a part of the European division in Football.

That way we can avoid ugly violence and other incidents at least until we get to intercontinental play.

And like I said.. they never win anything anyway.

Football requires a bit more than brawn and braggadocio.. it requires team play as well as a particular kind of individualism - something that simply isn't found where mahomedanism is widely praticed.

"Religious" teams always stand out for their violence and the problems they cause.. see also the Inter Milan - Istanbul game where they complained about Inter's uniforms.

Losers of course..

Our European and the Latin American sides, however, distinguish themselves by their actions on the field.

It's the results, baby!

Maybe they think if they act "religious" they'll be as good as the Brazilians..

However, the Brazilians consider FOOTBALL theit religion and not islam.

Maybe these goofs should start worshipping some balls instead of a cubed rock.

No wonder they can't score..
