Saudi professor faces lashes for having coffee with female 'student'

He wuz framed, I tell ya. Framed!

By Michael Theodoulou for the Times (thanks to all who sent this in):

A university professor allegedly caught in a Saudi-style honey trap has been sentenced to 180 lashes and eight months in jail – for having coffee with a girl.

The man, a prominent and well-respected Saudi teacher of psychology at Umm al-Qra University in the holy city of Mecca, was framed by the religious police after he angered some of their members at a training course, his lawyer said.

The academic has not been named by the local media, which have given his case wide coverage, but one senior Saudi journalist told The Times he was Dr Abu Ruzaiz, a married man in his late 50s with children.

“He is highly respected and above-board. Nobody believes the religious police’s version of what happened. The whole of Jeddah (the main city near Mecca) is in uproar about this. Everyone believes he is innocent and was set up,” the journalist said.

Good. Maybe this will herald the beginning of a mass public rejection of such "crimes."

Yea, good.

But beware if you're an American woman meeting male co-workers in a KSA Starbuck's.

A "professor of Psychology" in Saudi Arabia is like a dance instructor in a coma ward.

An unnamed journalist, speaking about an unnamed professor, said

Nobody believes the religious police’s version of what happened. The whole of Jeddah (the main city near Mecca) is in uproar about this. Everyone believes he is innocent and was set up.

I'm so glad that "everyone" is so moderate in the land that beheads kufirs caught within the city of Mecca, rapes women caught unaccompanied with unrelated males, chops the hands off thieves, does not allow women to drive cars, allows polygamy but stones female adulterers (and rape victims) to death. "Everyone" is so moderate, that journalists must hide their identity when speaking about current events.

Somehow, I bet "everyone" who knows the first thing about Islam and Saudi Arabia believes this unnamed journalist is full of ****.

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Who is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them.

It is only natural that there is growing ostracism of Mohametans. Obviously a sane person wouldn't want to be anywhere near a Mohametan of the opposite sex, for fear that this kind of accusation could be made.

It would be nice if it was recognized by the muslim world that the outrageous behavior of their fellow believers is what makes freedom-loving people suspicious of Mohmetans.

180 lashes for a man in his fifties, depending on his health and physiology, just might be fatal.

Feel the love.

Everyone believes he is innocent and was set up,” the journalist said.

Good. Maybe this will herald the beginning of a mass public rejection of such "crimes."

From the report, it doesn't sound like the public "uproar" reflects any objection to the Puritanical criminology involved, but only to the misapplication of the arrest and punishment. I.e., had the man been properly found "guilty", the Muslim rabble would not have had any problems with the punishment.

I suggest that all those who have a fetish for masochism, sign up with this girl.

Feel the pain !

And its free (but you might have to pay for the coffee and hospital bills afterwards).

Feel the love.

The mutaween must be bored if they feel the need to go out of their way to set up this professor. The lesson here- don't criticize the mutaween on their manners.

The solution to this - single sex coffee shops.

They got away with murder last year - twice. No one should be surprised.
