Supremacism. By Luke Salkeld for the Daily Mail (thanks to all who sent this in):
It is just a few days until Easter, the most important date in the Christian calendar. But for 700 Muslims who have gathered in a rural caravan park, this week has a different religious significance. And to some of their neighbours, the thrice-daily calls to prayer are proving a strain on a harmonious relationship. The Iranian Muslims have converged on the Trevelgue Holiday Park in Porth, Cornwall, to celebrate yesterday's Persian New Year.
Every day at sunrise, noon and sunset they broadcast their prayers, known as Adhan, on a loudspeaker system. But some residents are complaining that the noise is shattering the idyll of the quiet village near Newquay.
Neighbour Emma Brewer, 35, said "the novelty soon wore off" after the group arrived at the camp last weekend.
She said: "It lasts about 20 to 30 minutes and it is rather loud. I'm a bit naffed off by it, to be honest."
Another resident added: "We are going to have to put up with this all week. It's going off in the morning, at 5am."
A neighbour from nearby St Columb Minor says he was offended because he could hear the chanting as he made his way back from church.
He said: "Why was this broadcast at such a high level of volume so as to be heard miles away? Do the Christian church bells ring out in amplified volumes on Fridays in areas where they are at prayer?
"This was totally unnecessary especially on such an important day in our Christian calendar."

There is absolutely no reason for electrically amplified speakers. From a strict Muslim point of view why should this innovation in worship be accepted?

When I was an undergraduate I was plagued with noisy neighbors whose antics easily carried through paper-thin apartment walls. On weekends no problem, but during the week, their shenanigans made study at home very difficult. I had a quiet word with them to no avail. The following Sunday, at about 0500, I put a looped tape of the pipes and drums of the Black Watch playing the Crimean Long Reveille on my tape deck, turned the speakers so they were touching the party wall, amped up the volume and went for a long walk followed by breakfast. Just the thing for curing a hangover. We never had a bit of trouble after that.

What are they doing at the mosque? Noruz is a Persian and Zoroastrian holiday. It is not Islamic.

I just realised that I misread the post. At any rate, Noruz still isn't an Islamic holiday, so why the Islamic prayers?

My parents are from an old quiet rundown coalmining PA town, mostly of Catholic faith, so naturally every day you'd hear church bells rining, every once in a while and only for a couple seconds at a time. Really not that bad at all But I feel bad for the people that have to listen to Islamic calls to prayer as "It lasts about 20 to 30 minutes and it is rather loud. I'm a bit naffed off by it, to be honest." now that's just rediculous to me. I'm sorry but if I were ever to hear this call to pray, I'd be gone, cause you know they're taking over.

I suggest a community speaker system that is slightly louder and have it going off at say 4:55 a.m.
I would also suggest some of the great Jewish musicians or just AC/DC(Highway to Hell comes to ming), or the sound of pigs in a pigyard/slaughter yard.

Aren't there any ordinances against noise there? If not, there needs to be one.

The comments section at the Daily Mail is quite illuminating. Ripe with sentiments such as "get over it", "maybe we should join them" and the best quoted from same worshipers themselves: "the seagulls and trackers make more noise."

How bout this comment from the article:
"Come on, live and let live. No intolerance please - remember Germany in the 1930s when a bearded Jewish man was deemed a public menace? This is not a call to anything but prayer, we could all do with more of it. Why not join them? Islam is a beautiful religion, intolerance is the disruption."
- Wendy, France
LOL!!! Oh, the folly of it all. Someone REALLY needs to school Wendy from Fwance about Islam sometime before it's too late and she's forced to wear a veil simply to leave the house. Oh yeah, and while we're at it, let's have Wendy from Fwance chastise the Saudis with that 'no intolerance please' line... I think it'd be a big hit *snort*

Park a truck outside of their mosque, and play the Israeli national anthem at full blast whenever they start with their noise Jihad.
at March 20, 2008 4:22 PM
Here are some of the dhimmi comments I gleaned from the article in the Daily Mail:
* We get thousands of youngsters here every year when GCSEs finish and they make more noise.
* It's only a call to prayer and better than the 'thump thump thump' we get from teenage parties.
* The event, organised by the Islamic Students Association, is a six-day celebration of Persian and Islamic culture. Yesterday Muslim participants said the seagulls were louder than the call to prayers.
* To be honest the seagulls and tractors around here are much noisier.
They must have some pretty loud seagulls!

Sooner or later, this type of in-your-face belligerence and caterwauling will wear down the wrong people, make too attractive a target for someone or some group, and the temptation to remove hundreds at once will overwhelm common sense.
Then, the game will be afoot, and the "civil" authorities, targeted from both sides of a civil war, will be left wondering "what if" we had only enforced sensible noise regulations and secular law.
But we wouldn't want to be intolerant or inseeeeeensitive, would we? Good god, where are the adults?
I'm guessing that if the state fails to act in cases like this, we'll be seeing the emergence of non-state actors, frustrated that civil law is no longer "civil" and happy to correct the problem on their own.
Ah multiculturalism, ain't it grand. It will be like having a little middle east in our own back yard.
It's really true; a slow brain is like no brain.
at March 20, 2008 5:32 PM
Alaskan1000; damn your hide, man, you beat me to it!
If there's no anti-noise bylaw to prevent the 5:00AM wake up call than there's certainly nothing to prevent amplified outdoor all night raves right next to them, eh? I'm guessing one or two nights would be all that it would take to quench their ardour...
Hey! maybe they could find a really big outdoor screen and show allnight movies...I leave the titles to your imagination ('Last Tango in Paris' immediately comes to mind ;) )

I was in Jerusalem last week and was bombarded by the call to prayer while at the Western Wall. I am positive the amplification is just to let all of us know of their hateful presence.

The louder and earlier the call to prayer from Western mosques, the better.
A loud, early, and obnoxiously dominating call to prayer is a wake-up call for those who are still complacently sleeping through the Islamic invasion.

I posted at the Daily Mail, but they didn't print the comment. No, there were no swear words or "racism" or anything else. But only one side of the issue can be heard. Which is why I appreciate JW/DW all the more.

For years the government and its willing media hogs ahave trashed Christianity - the very root of our culture. It is not a surprise that this sort of liberty is taken by Muslims in Britain.

Without Christianity, our society is doomed
By Peter Mullen
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/main.jhtml?xml=/opinion/2008/03/21/do2102.xml
I have been writing of this in letters for years, and it is good to see that atlast, this fact that Christianity is the central feature of not just Britain but the Western world.
It is the Christian ethos and devout Christians, that gave rise to separation of church and state, the abolition of slavery, emancipation of women, compassion to prisoners of war, the Red Cross, and charities, to name just a few. It is the Christian ethos that gave rise to modern science and technology. It is not a coincidence that such developments took place only in Christendom and not elsewhere. Even the secular state is a Christian invention.
The last few decades have seen a huge shift of power towards the secular state, which has upset the balance that should be between the secular and the moral. The results of this unbalance are the social decay that is visible for all to see.

Once again, crimes and misdemeanors are allowed because they are religious in origin.
NEWSFLASH: A crime remains a crime, even if somebody's religion calls for it!
==============
Waking the neighbors up every morning at 5AM is at least a misdemeanor, if not criminal mischief.
Your subjective reason for doing so makes not the slightest difference.
==============
If they don't prosecute this, well, they have no one but themselves to blame for the resulting chaos.
This ridiculous deference to the mohammedans in all things will be the death of Britain.

Now for those who have not put the dots together this is no coincidence, this stinks of muzie pay.
Just a stone throw from St Columb Minor is another village called St Columb Major were stuck for inspiration about what to wear at their village carnival, one group made a last-minute decision to dress up in mock Muslim burkas.
Calling themselves the “Page Three Beauties from the Ramalama Ding-Dong Times”, the 17 men and women carried placards with made-up names such as “Miss Hairyarmpitsbad”, “Miss Slackistan”, “Miss Notbadinbedabad” and “Miss Reallyamanistan”.
I blogged about this incident a few months back so if you want to read about it
scroll down till you come to “Miss Slackistan and the Burka Beauties parade skit draws police ban and Muslim cries of racism in UK”

Time for Cornwall to wake up (but not at Muslim behest) and remember that Cornish boy from the 18th century - Thomas Pellew? - who was captured by Muslim pirate slavers raiding the fair coasts of Cornwall, and carted off to durance vile and forced conversion in the Barbary Coast.
Can't a SWAT team of Cornishmen arrange an unfortunate accident to the power supply for the loudspeakers?
Or: do Cornish churches go in for changeringing? Perhaps, if the local church has a full ring of bells, a good few thousand Grandsire Triples or Kent Treble Bob Majors, magnified by the kind of amplification used for rock concerts, might have a salutary effect, and convince the Muslim campers to go somewhere else next time.
