U.K.: Muslim bus driver halts bus to pray

UPDATE: This story is false. The Sun has retracted it and apologized. I apologize also, for linking to it in the first place.

--------

From our ever-expanding You Can't Make This Stuff Up file. "Get off my bus, please, I need to pray," from The Sun (thanks to Elric66):

A MUSLIM bus driver told stunned passengers to get off so he could PRAY.
The white Islamic convert rolled out his prayer mat in the aisle and knelt on the floor facing Mecca.
Passengers watched in amazement as he held out his palms towards the sky, bowed his head and began to chant.
One, who filmed the man on his mobile phone, said: “He was clearly praying and chanting in Arabic.

The video can be seen at the article link above.

“We thought it was a wind-up at first, like Jeremy Beadle.”
The 21-year-old plumber added: “He looked English and had a London accent. He looked like a Muslim convert, with a big, bushy beard.
“Eventually everyone started complaining. One woman said, ‘What the hell are you doing? I’m going to be late for work’.”
After a few minutes the driver calmly got up, opened the doors and asked everyone back on board.
But they saw a rucksack lying on the floor of the red single-decker and feared he might be a fanatic. So they all refused.
The passenger added: “One chap said, ‘I’m not getting on there now’.
“An elderly couple also looked really confused and worried.
“After seeing that no-one wanted to get on he drove off and we all waited until the next bus came about 20 minutes later. I was left totally stunned. It made me not want to get on a bus again.”
The bizarre event unfolded on the number 81 in Langley, Berkshire, at around 1.30pm on Thursday.
The passenger said he rang the bus firm to complain but claimed it did not believe him.
He said: “They asked me, ‘Are you sure?’. Then they said they would get back to me, but they weren’t taking me seriously at all.”
Yesterday the driver, who said his name was Hrun, told The Sun: “I asked everyone to get off because I needed to pray. I was running late and had not had time.
“I pray five times a day as a Muslim — but I don’t normally ask people to get off the bus to do it.”
Muslims pray at pre-dawn, noon, afternoon, sunset and evening.
A spokesperson for bus company London United said: “We are aware of a reported incident involving our route 81.
“We are currently undertaking a full investigation into the matter.”

My favorite line. He normally doesnt ask people to get off the bus to pray. That tells me he has done this a few times before. And thank you for the Hat tip.

Yes, it's ubelievable--unbelievable that zealous Muslims are so keen to prove that Islam is intolerant, uncharitable, regressive, and in-you-face supremacist. "Kuffar to the back of the tram! Don't you people know your place?"

Posted by: John C [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 29, 2008 1:05 PM

Next, he'd be saying, "Those of you on the bus who are Muslim, stay on and join me." I think I'm pretty safe making this up.

For once, it's the Mohammedan who's under investigation, rather than the usual 'Islamophobes'.

“I asked everyone to get off because I needed to pray. I was running late and had not had time."

Okay. So, this guy couldn't get his own act together in time to say his prayers. This means that all the passengers on his bus, several other individuals had to jettison their schedules for his benefit, while he stopped doing what he was paid to do--drive the bus.

What's wrong with this picture?

Posted by: Abscedere [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 29, 2008 2:04 PM

When this stuff gets here, I hope there's at least one rude American on the bus who will tell the Muslim driver to get off and pray on the sidewalk!

What should be wrong with this picture, Abscedere?
The passengers were all dhimmis and kuffirs, weren't they - so of course they had to step back while he did his duty according to Mo!
After all, Mo comes first, dhimmis and kuffirs should be honoured that he drove their bus at all, never mind their stupid schedules, and they should feel priviledged to be in the company of such a devout muslim.
(I wonder if he refused to transport female passengers with their hair uncovered?)

"Move out of my way - I have to practice my religion".

Maybe this and FITNA will wake the British up to how arrogant Islam is.

Posted by: PersonOfTheBook [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 29, 2008 2:25 PM

Good thing the pedophile 'prophet' talked the big guy allah out of the 50-times-a-day. The bloke would have to stop the bus a couple of times every run. Plays hell with those schedules. Guess they'll need two versions:

#81 to Hounslow Monday to Friday - Colnbrook Stop Time - Regular Schedule

#81 to Hounslow Monday to Friday - Colnbrook Stop Time - Sharia Schedule

When this gets to America, EVERYONE on that bus will be calling 911, the local police, the bus company, the local news, etc. etc.

This arrogant bus driver, who has no clue what it means to "serve the customer", will then be out of a job.

And by the way, Abscedere, I take exception to the term "rude". The bus driver was the rude one in this story.

Posted by: PersonOfTheBook [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 29, 2008 2:28 PM

I love the arrogance. "Yeah, I made the kuffar get off the bus so I could pray, so what?"

He will surely be accommodated.

Posted by: awake [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 29, 2008 2:33 PM

I suppose the British still haven't learned. Why trust your life to a bearded muslim? Hope he gets fired, starts something, then is imprisoned.

When he finished and let passengers back on, why didn't they break out in song...say "Hava Negila" or "Jesus is just alright with me" (doobie bros.)!

A couple of months ago a mother was reading the Bible to her two young children while riding on the public transportation bus 'The T' in Ft.Worth,TX. The driver stopped and asked her to stop reading aloud or she and her children would have to get off the bus. She refused and the driver called the police to escort her off. 'The T' later defended the driver saying that the woman's religion might offend other passengers.

Any bets that if that mother had been wearing the burqa and reading to her children from the Q'ran, nobody would have batted an eyelid? Because 'its her culture'?

This was something Oriana Falacci wrote extensively about. The indolence, the need to pray 5 times, constant work interruptions....welcome to the west. and the new 15 hour work week.

The next time a Muslim bus driver stops to pray, remember this: When he bumps his forehead on the ground or, in this case, floorboard, another part of his anatomy is presented and unprotected.

He will never know who did it unless a passenger rats.

Posted by: Pelayo [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 29, 2008 5:10 PM

Silly dhimmis! Prayers are for Muslims, not for infidels!

If the passengers had prevented him from praying, I'm sure that a lawsuit would have ensued. This is not a religious right, it is a religious privilege. Bow to your new masters, kuffars!

Posted by: tanstaafl [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 29, 2008 5:12 PM

At least this guy was a bus driver and not a doctor. What happens if an operation interferes with the prayer time of a Muslim surgeon? Should he kick patient and staff into the hallway mid-procedure while he prays?

I am intrigued why Turkey is denied access to the EU if Britain is in. Britain seems more Islamic than Turkey at times ... (sarcasm)

but we'll decide that two sets of rules apply. One for ethnics and one for white people. I predict that's how it will end up, although perhaps they won't use that wording.

The New Britain so Asylum does work. Gosh these people need to escape their repressive regimes and country so let us give them asylum and practice their so called religion of peace. Let them freely convert the masses. All those many years of colonizing it is time to let these freedom fighters into our land. Now they can fight for the freedom of religion in the land of the kuffars. Yes there already exists no go areas for kuffars in the UK. No non Muslims allowed...the new order is here! Allah rules the land of Britishstan and the city of Londonistan.

So sad... and I really liked visiting the UK.

Goodbye Great (subdued, capitulated, groveling, shackled) Britain...

Ian (8:31) said, "...we'll decide that two sets of rules apply. One for ethnics and one for white people".

Er...the perpetrator was white, not a so-called "ethnic", to use your term. The report of one of the witnesses is quite clear in stating that, “He looked English and had a London accent. He looked like a Muslim convert, with a big, bushy beard."

Ian, you seem to have entirely missed the point of this forum. It's been pointed out repeatedly that it's not about race but about a dangerous religious ideology. The truth of this is precisely borne out by this story. If you want to vent your racist spleen I suggest you go elsewhere.

British indolence? It's gonna cost you sooner than you think! This is not tolerance or accommodation, it's plain and stupid indolence! Too bad you don't have spines like Churchill anymore... I once admired your country. But that was before your status of Britainstan...

Posted by: eloivsdiablo [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 30, 2008 10:54 AM

I wish the passengers stood up to the punk, stayed on the bus then threw him off along with his crummy prayer rug. What a completely inconsiderate little swine, represents Islam perfectly.

The British are victims of social engineering. Blind obedience is now innate.

“I pray five times a day as a Muslim — but I don’t normally ask people to get off the bus to do it.”

Likely this means he normally to pray with an audience.

I know of a case in which a muslim student at a North American university insisted on praying during an exam -- in the exam room, at the front where all could see. (He was sent out and asked to return after any religious exercises.)

I have personally noticed a sudden tendency of muslims I encounter who wish very much to be seen praying. Where 10 years ago they would close the door and pray in private there is a sudden shift and they want their prayers to be very visible. I think, conscious or unconscious, they sense it is "time" to normalize Islamic prayer in the west by making it part of everyone's lives.

So, my guess is ... expect more of this, and even more of public islamic prayer in less spectacular ways. It will all be very "ordinary". We'll see, in any case.

Never, ever, get off the bus, unless it is your stop. Don't go along with their games, not for one second.

They all should have kneeled down and prayed the rosary. There are more of them than one moronic muslim. Drown him out with our infidel prayers. I wish people would wake up. And if there are Jews on board - then just do whatever they do out loud. It is about time we take back our lands from these goons. That guy should have been fired.

We pray pretty loudly in my church. And we shout out the Name of Jesus. I wonder what Mr. Hrun would have thought of that?

Come to think of it, I probably would have tried to cast a few demons out of Mr. Hrun -- he surely has a few.

I think all the passengers could have formed a circle around Mr. Hrun, held hands, and then started dancing and singing Hava Negila. That would have been particularly fun.

After all, Mr. Hrun is the one who stated, with his actions, "Time for everyone to practice their religion!"

This isn't an isolated incident - i know of at least one occasion it's happened on a W. London bus route - although the passengers were most mercifully allowed to wait on the bus on that occasion...

Here's my take on your comment, Calon Lan. First, I think MANY eyelids would be "batting," but people would be too afraid to do anything because 1. The Islamic woman might be wearing explosives, and 2. The psychological paralysis that has resulted from Political Correctness. Fear of appearing "racist" and also fear of being arrested by the PC Police. A very real possibility.

The Ft. Worth, Texas, incident should be kept in mind by everyone in case the same should occur involving a Qur'an.

"So, my guess is ... expect more of this, and even more of public islamic prayer in less spectacular ways. It will all be very "ordinary". We'll see, in any case."

I for one hope that day never comes. I think those passengers who obediently got off the bus were too stunned to object. Next time at least some of them will know better, and hold their ground. Refuse to get off the bus. In fact, tell the driver to get his ass back in the driver seat and get back to doing his damn job.

Posted by: angloirishslav [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 1, 2008 10:56 AM

Islam has a severe weakness when it comes to prayer. If a prayer (namaz) is interrupted, it must be started again from the beginning. So keep interrupting them until the sun sets. That way they cannot fulfil their duty as a Muslim to pray five times a day.

Soon they will get the message that they cannot be an observant Muslim in the West. If they want to complete their prayers, they'll have to move to Arabia or Pakistan.
