"The incident occurred last August but was not reported until after Maliki criticized the social networking site."
"Muslim cleric decries Facebook," from UPI:
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, March 31 (UPI) -- A Saudi woman's alleged death at her father's hands has been cited by a Muslim cleric in his criticism of the Internet social networking site Facebook.
The al-Arabiya Web site said the case was reported by a Saudi Arabian news site as an example of the "strife" Facebook has caused Saudi Arabia, The Daily Telegraph reported Monday.
The Web site became the subject of controversy in Saudi Arabia after preacher Ali al-Maliki labeled it a destructive force against Islam.
"Facebook is a door to lust and young women and men are spending more on their mobile phones and the Internet than they are spending on food," he said.
The Saudi news site said the Riyadh woman was beaten and shot by her father after he discovered her engaging in an online conversation with a man on Facebook. The incident occurred last August but was not reported until after Maliki criticized the social networking site.

Would that be 'strife' as in 'fitna'?

OMG, engaging in an online conversation!
Irreparable shame and dishonor.

The first time I have heard of a murder over a high cell phone bill!

Should this really be at DhimmiWatch? It should be front page.

Is food that expensive in KSA?

Wouldn't it be nice if all those clerics and governments (like the Indonesian one, banning FITNA) would insist on their countries being taken off the internet?
We could then have an electronic border all round them and let them stew in their own 8th Century juices, until they come to their senses.
What they of course also need to understand is that without electronics all their 20st C weaponry, nuclear armament programmes etc and propaganda videos wouldn't work either ... nor their modern cars and TVs ... nor aeorplanes, desalination plants, air conditioning plants ... cell phones ... no tourists ...
Difficult, innit: have a bit of a grip on western technologies, especially arms, or have pure women ...

If it weren't sympathy for the children, and for any of the adult free thinkers, I would say that the rest of the world should wall off the lands of the ummah and let drop of the body of the world like a gangrenous blackened stump.

Facebook may be an offense, but it is not an offense for the reasons Ali al-Maliki miching mallecho-ly gives.

Living proof that maybe, just maybe, Muslim women aren't satisfied with their lot in life and are willing to risk their lives for freedom of expression.
To the Riyadh woman beaten to death by her father, I admire your courage, little girlfriend. May you rest in peace, especially since you weren't allowed to live it.

You know, that 7th century morality is just not translating that well in the 21st century. Time to re-boot.

Ali al-Maliki labeled it a destructive force against Islam.most of the technology of the 20th century could be labeled a destructive force against Islam
the new Internet phenomenon of universal communication is something that the seventh century mentality a Muslim preachers in the middle east they are not intellectually ready to deal with it even though they use it. By the same token the traditional weapons of the Bedouin are the sword and spear their belovedAK-47 is a very destructive weapons of 20th-century design and build by infidels get the the Muslims have accepted this wholeheartedly even if most of them to pray and pray and don't really aim their shots so I think these preachers and the middle east will continue to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century from a time when camel caravans were one of the fastest means to communicate

Well, geez; when you're the scion of an oil sheik rather that a destitute, dirty-loincloth-wearing ascetic, that's not hard to do.
They probably spend more on their clothes, houses and cars than they do on food as well.

Day in and day out one can't help notice that islam is NOT a religion of peace, comments by the President, and whoever notwithstanding.

OK how about giving the good women of islam one more restriction. No internet or cell phones.
Maybe the other lower half of islam will wake up and be willing to die to be part of the 21st century. Just thinking.

Slavery: 1. the state of one bound in servitude as the property of a slaveholder or household, 2. a mode of production in which slaves constitute the principal work force, 3. a condition of hard work and subjection.
That neatly fits the description of a Muslim woman's life.
Perhaps the saddest thing of all for a Muslim woman is her hope that her dream of marriage will be fulfilled. To find out after the fact that it is just another form of imprisonment must be the ultimate heartbreak in a lifetime full of it.

A report posted on Islam Watch, a site run by Muslims who oppose intolerant teachings and hatred for unbelievers, exposes a prominent Islamic cleric and lawyer who support extreme punishment for non-Muslims — including killing and rape.
A question-and-answer session with Imam Abdul Makin in an East London mosque asks why Allah would tell Muslims to kill and rape innocent non-Muslims, including their wives and daughters, according to Islam Watch.
"Because non-Muslims are never innocent, they are guilty of denying Allah and his prophet," the Imam says, according to the report. "If you don't believe me, here is the legal authority, the top Muslim lawyer of Britain."
The lawyer, Anjem Choudary, backs up the Imam's position, saying that all Muslims are innocent.
"You are innocent if you are a Muslim," Choudary tells the BBC. "Then you are innocent in the eyes of God. If you are not a Muslim, then you are guilty of not believing in God."
Choudary said he would not condemn a Muslim for any action.
"As a Muslim, I must support my Muslim brothers and sisters," Choudary said. "I must have hatred to everything that is not Muslim."

The total acceptance of a young woman's death at the hands of her own father in that society shows how little they value human life.
What a great "religion."

So, her dad killed her because of Facebook. In other words, he doesn't want her associating with bad men.
I wrote a song about a really bad man. Let me know what you think about it. It's called "The Ballad of Ole Mo, and it's sung to the tune of the Beverly Hillbillies (my apologies to the Beverly Hillbillies)
Come and listen to my story 'bout a man named Mo'
A poor camel trader, he was soon to roll in dough
He invented a religion, with a racket of protection
and promised his hitmen, a ticket straight to heaven.
He began to travel, around Arabia
Raping and stealing, from almost everyone
He married a girl, when she was only six
and he beat all his wives, for disobeying him.
He made a treaty, with a group of Jews
But after they surrendered, he killed them all for kicks
The Jews used to be, "The People of the Book"
but, Miracle of Miracles!, now they're Apes and Pigs!
Well the first thing you know, ole Mo's a millionaire
Great big haram, and stolen goods to spare
He returned to Mecca, with a sword in his hand
and terrorized the people of that formerly free land.
"Kill them all"; "forced conversions"; "slavery".

Rewrite of the 3rd verse:
He made a treaty, with a group of Jews
But after they surrendered, he killed all of the "fools".
"The People of the Book", the Jews used to be
but, Miracle of Miracles!, now they're Apes and Pigs!

Even more so, imo, it shows the savage nature of these "humans" who embrace islam. They are so blood-thirsty, they'll even kill their own for the most asinine reasons, and such behavior is condoned and accepted.
This is what's coming to Europe, and soon to America. And it continues to baffle me as to why so many non-muslims refuse to see this.

How 'bout let's start a competition, to see who can write the funniest songs about Ole Mo'!
I know that there are more out there than me who can at least throw a few words together in a humorous way.
We'll get the internet really humming!

On the other hand - Perhaps enough freedom (cell phone and internet usage) is seeping into these cultures that someday their majorities will turn away from the hatred that is Islam. The terrorists' have always thought they would destroy us from within. Perhaps it will be the other way around. It's just a shame a girl had to die over this, but there will be others. We know how freedom works, and it begins with sacrifice.
May we never forget women who fall victim to the hatred that is Islam. May we never forget Amina and Sarah!
