Netherlands: Muslims destroy cartoon exhibit

Irony Alert: the cartoons were trying to teach against discrimination. "School Exhibition Cancelled following Violence by Muslim Pupils," from NIS News (thanks to Daniel):

NIJMEGEN, 02/04/08 - A school in Nijmegen yesterday cancelled a cartoon exhibition about discrimination following threats by Muslim pupils. Before this decision was taken, the exhibition was already literally destroyed.

Muslim pupils of the ROC Nijmegen, a large school with largely immigrant pupils, pulled cartoons from the walls shortly before these were to be presented officially. They also threatened to set the school alight. The school management decided to call off the opening.

In the exhibition, artists expressed their vision on discrimination in a humorist manner. "My expectation was that the pupils would be able to laugh about it", Ralph Sluis stated. He heads a local anti discrimination organisation. Sluis was the exhibition's coordinator.

A total of fifteen cartoonists worked on the exhibition. According to Sluis, the trouble was sparked by a work by cartoonist Peter de Wit, which shows two women in niqabs, the all-covering Islamic garments.

In the cartoon, one niqabed woman tells the other: "You filthy Muslim". The other one replies: "Yes I know, I'll wash". This woman smells bad, the cartoon shows.

The cartoon's message is that someone is not filthy if they wear a niqab. "A small group of pupils interpreted the cartoons in an entirely different way than the artist intended", Sluis stated.

And threatened to burn down the school, in order to demonstrate the peacefulness and tolerance of Islam.

"My expectation was that the pupils would be able to laugh about it"

There is no humor in Islam.

... and there is no joy in Mo'd-ville.

Mighty PC has struck out.

Yes, the New Europe...Multiculturalism and Political Correctness, plus open door on asylum seekers--mostly from Muslim countries.

Those students should have been expelled for vandalism and investigated for threatening arson.

(Crickets chirping...)

Next time the teachers are going to explain first what humor is.

Oh no he's had a reality check. False Class Consciousness alert coming up.
It's always bad when you're so deluded you attempt to dovetail your delusions with reality. Reality tends to win.

I am sure the Muslim students would not object to messages of tolerance for gays and feminists.
\sarc off

So, will there be any consequences for the students who destroyed the exhibit or just more hand wringing and bending over to pick up the soap by the school authorities?

Posted by: Isabellathecrusader [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 2, 2008 5:21 PM

This is obviously the result of class sizes being too small. And art.

Personally, I welcome this sort of thing. Let them show their true nature. Wilders and all who favor the democracy of the Netherlands above the Sharia of the Islam will reap the benefits of the best political campaigning these Muslims can do against themselves.

The Dutch Government is too busy having a hissy fit about "FITNA" to deal with minor problems like this. At least Sluis got an education. Bet he is too PC to understand the lesson that his little islamic overlords taught. No doubt he believes that he did or said something wrong that caused them to act out their hatred of the Dutch.

Once again our antagonists demonstrate that brutality works!

Especially when dealing with cowards.

In 10 - 15 years, 25% of School Children in Netherlands will be muslims. Good Luck Dhimmis. Give more immigration to muslims.

-------------

Not if every one of them and their families' are no longer in the Netherlands within the next 0-9 years.

Then it will be 0%, which is a better number.

The ironic angle to the story is that the hyper PC academic attempted to use a cartoon to communicate the Islamic view on female chastity.
Faster please. The larger the critical mass of Muslims, the more likely that using free speech in furtherance of political correctness will backfire.

"My expectation was that the pupils would be able to laugh about it"

Silly Dhimmi, humor is for infidels.

"There is no humor in Islam", Ayatollah Khomeini

The students, and their parents, need an 'old school' ass whipping.

Oh, how inseeeeeeeeeeensitive!

Posted by: RalphInfidel [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 2, 2008 8:48 PM

Oh yea, and the teachers too. For letting it get this far.

Posted by: RalphInfidel [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 2, 2008 8:55 PM

It is simply not possible to understand the mindset of these people. When I was in high school, a Catholic high school, I help write a parady newspaper that reported the crucifixion. Nobody was angered and some even found it amusing.

Even when some works are seemingly designed to be offensive (such as the Christ in urine) rarely does anyone find a reason to act out and destroy these works.

It appears that Ralph Sluis, too, is a misunderstander of islam.

Just wondering how long it will take the EU to be called Europistan?

How about "Eurabia"?

Posted by: PersonOfTheBook [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 2, 2008 11:42 PM

How old were these "pupils"? Surely the teachers should have been able to control this. Were the police involved? Any charges laid? (As if.)So many unanswered questions, as the dhimmis cave again.

Expell 'em. Really. Threats to burn down a school must be taken seriously. This is a question of civil order, it has nothing to do with the so-called religion involved.

Posted by: tanstaafl [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 3, 2008 10:21 AM

And Wilders was wrong, precisely how?

Posted by: Kev [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 3, 2008 12:23 PM

Just a memory here... Nijmagen in the rain ca. 1972, the ancient university, the timeless grey stone buildings, the prim and scrubbed Dutchness of everything, all the people's curtains open in the evening so that passersby could see the husband and wife reading the paper and drinking their coffee in the sitting room - the point being 'we have nothing to hide, we are so beautifully normal'.

How my Dutch professor friend laughed at them and their middle-class proprieties, the remnants of Calvinism, the delicious pleasures of orderliness.
How kind and simple and precious it seems now. Gone. Their hard work, order and responsibility made possible the welfare state, the famous Dutch tolerance and in the end allowed those who loathe them to destroy them and their country.
It is gone gone gone.

................................

Seems like this is a growing probem. There was the case of schoolkids destroying a classroom (I believe this was also in the Netherlands) when their teacher tried to start a lesson about pigs.

Many schools have started to bowderdize their lessons to try to avoid "offending" Muslim students. Some teachers and schools are certainly just being overly PC, but some, surely, are hoping to avoid "provoking" Muslim children to violence.

Just look at the situation in some countries with large Muslim populations--a well-meaning British teacher arrested in Sudan, and threatened with flogging and prison, Christian teachers attacked--some murdered--in Nigeria for attempting to routinely discipline Muslim children.

This is the future in the West if this sort of violence on the part of schoolchildren is tolerated now.

Maybe many are 'getting it' but individuals are not. There is no humor in islam - we are talking about sheep - mindless robots here!
