Iranian authorities destroy seven ancient synagogues in Tehran

Jahiliyya Update: The artifacts of the pre-Islamic period or non-Islamic cultures are, to traditional Islam, worthless trash -- the society of unbelievers. "Iran: Seven historic synagogues in Tehran destroyed," from AKI (thanks to Sr. Soph):

Tehran, 15 April (AKI) - Seven ancient synagogues in the Iranian capital, Tehran, have been destroyed by local authorities.

The synagogues were in the Oudlajan suburb of Tehran, where many Iranian Jews used to live.

"These buildings, which were part of our cultural, artistic and architectural heritage were burnt to the ground," said Ahmad Mohit Tabatabaii, the director of the International Council of Museums’ (ICOM) office in Tehran.

"With the excuse of renovating this ancient quarter, they are erasing a part of our history," said Tabatabaii....

That's funny considering that "allah" is a pre-Islamic moon deity. Yep, "he" is worthless trash, no doubt about it!

But didn't Achmedinejad tell us that the Jewish community was well respected, safe, and well treated in Iran? I guess Haman's making a comeback.

As the Muslim warlord said of the library in a conquered city:

"If what is contained here agrees with the Koran, we don't need it;
if it disagrees with the Koran we don't want it. Destroy it all!~
"

Islamic 'logic'.

The culture of cultural erasure. To be or not to be, isn't that the question?

Well, thank God at least one decent Muslim is speaking out against it. Not that it's likely to do any good in that theocratic hellhole. I'd bolt the doors tightly from now on, if I were him.

Get used to it.

The mayor of Munchkin Land will soon be able to say about synagogues what he says about homosexuals:

"We don't have those in our country."

"oTehran, 15 April (AKI) - Seven ancient synagogues in the Iranian capital, Tehran, have been destroyed by local authorities"

other countries with ancient artifacts try to save them for future generations of those seeking knowledge, The Greeks have their coliseum with its known history of blood and gore, those ancient Incan and Mayan temples with their history of blood and gore, the ancient Chinese temples, the ancient Korean temples, England with its Stone Henge, The ancient adobe cliff dwellings of the American Southwest...

There were some ancient Bhudda statues carved in the sides of mountains and cliffs, but the Muslims have been systematically blowing them up.

Across Europe there are the ancient castles and cave drawings being protected and preserved for future generations.

Across Africa there are many important historical places..only when Muslims appear do the historical places disappear...

Indian has many places of historical interest like the Taj Mahal (which sometime back was receiving threats from Muslims who vowed to destroy it)

In the Phillipines and throughout Indo CHina, when Muslims appear, churches disappear.

of course not so old things disappear too, like schools, libraries, churches, hospitals, orphanages, and people.

all things destroyed or conquered are replaced with all things Islamic, including the people.

good people..

- How ironic, when it was a Muslim who built it! It's one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. Maybe Islam really was different back then, or maybe the man who built it was just an exception to the rule. The Muslim fanatics of today hate beauty, period. The purpose of architecture is merely to oppress and intimidate, not fill with awe and wonder. Witness all the butt-ugly mega-mosques, complete with minarets, sprouting up like noxious toadstools all over Europe. Complete with their eardrum-piercing "call to prayer" loudspeakers, as if the assault on infidel eyes weren't enough.

One more thing to add to the poster's list: Islamists have also threatened to destroy the Sphinx, the Pyramids, and other historical sites and monuments in Egypt.

There's a new library of Alexandria, supposedly on or near the site of the original one. They've probably got their sights on that, too.

The useless f***ers couldn't even be bothered to build themselves a new mosque when they took over Constantinople. They just invaded a Christian cathedral, then known as the Hagia Sophia, butchered every Christian they found inside it, tore down, destroyed, or painted over all the artwork, and turned it into a mosque, which it is still to this day. Go see it yourself, if you're ever in Istanbul. It's now called the Blue Mosque, I believe.

angloirishslav

slight correction to your post.

They took over Hagia Sophia, the church of the Holy Wisdom, then already 1000 years old, just as you describe.

Then they surrounded it with 'guards' - minarets. Marking their territory - like dogs do on trees.

THEN they built the Blue Mosque next to it (intending to build bigger and higher...usual dominance/ power game).

Unfortunately for the Muslims, they just couldn't cut it.

They weren't able to make the Blue Mosque bigger, OR higher.

But there it sits - opposite Hagia Sophia, glaring at it. A failed attempt at one-upmanship.

The huge, horrible mosque they plan to build in London [may it never be built! or, if built, may it one day be obliterated!] is intended to do to St Paul's Cathedral, what the Blue Mosque was supposed to do to Hagia Sophia.

In India thousands of Ancient Temples were destroyed and through out the expansion of Islam the destruction of the local cultures symbols were trashed in order to signify Islamic superiority and the dhimmi status of non Muslims. Such is the case in India where many of the Mosques and Minarets were built from destroyed Hindu Temples. As a matter of fact one the greatest destruction was done by Aurangzeb a Mugal ruler who was a very devout Musselman. He went about sending his hoards to plunder and destroy ancient Hindu Temples which are a real loss to humanity. He belived it was a pious act. http://www.fact-india.com/Aurangazeb.php

Cultural desertification.

Point to remember: this act of vandalism has been precisely timed for maximum psychological hurt to the Jewish community. That is: these are the days of preparation for the Passover.

But seven is small potatoes compared to what Jordan did in the Old City in Jerusalem, 1949-67.

It deliberately destroyed FIFTY-EIGHT (think about that! FIFTY EIGHT) historic synagogues - the Old City contained the Jewish Quarter that had been continuously inhabited by Jews from the 12th century onward, at least until ALL the Jews there were expelled by the Jordanian Arab Muslims in 1949.

Historic tombstones from the ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives were torn up by the Muslims and used to build...toilets.

Domineering, sadistic, supremacist Arab Muslim THUGS!

When the IDF took the Temple Mount in 1967, if the Israelis had had any sense, they should have accidentally-on-purpose blown up the Al Aqsa Mosque then and there, that very day (OOOPS!!), reduced it to dust, and tipped the lot into the Dead Sea. Fait accompli.

(The Dome of the Rock could have been taken carefully to pieces and set up somewhere else, rededicated for use by Byzantine [Greek and/ or Russian] Christians - I think Hugh has pointed out it was probably a Byzantine Christian martyrium).

dumbledoresarmy: thanks for the clarification.

To Turkey's credit, apparently non-Muslim tourists are allowed into the Hagia Sophia now, at least certain parts of it. Some of the original Christian paintings on the walls, which the conquerers had painted over then covered with Arabic script, can now be seen too. What an amazing and heartbreaking place it must be, knowing the history.

Turkey's embrace of secularism and tolerance, now slowly being chipped away, should have been a model for the rest of the Muslim world. If the Islamists ever get an real power in Turkey, all hope is lost.

Well said Dumbledoresarmy,
The horrific prospect of Red Ken and his Dhimmi pals helping the building of the Olympic Mega Mosque is truly appalling.
I hope it is never built. If it ever is, no decent Englishman should sleep easily until it is torn down block by block and eradicated from our Capital.
I personally would like to see the eventual closure of all mosques in the UK. They offend me and make me very uneasy.
I cannot you see, feel happy about sharing my homeland with a Medieval death cult who wishes to convert me or kill me.
I do not sleep easily knowing that people who, in the name of a religion, justify murder, paedophilia, rape, mutilation of women, slavery, and just about any other foul deed an Imam says is the "Will of Allah". I am appalled they are free to do as they please in the country I was born in. Islam is as dangerous as Hitler, probably more so, and has far more fanatical followers than he ever had in his jackbooted SS legions. That scares the hell out of me.
I want to see the leaders of this country doing something about it BEFORE it is too late. The clock is ticking and has been for some time. However, better late than never.
