"Terrorism" according to what definition? With what accountability?
"US offers Pakistan government $7bn in non-military aid to fight terrorism," by Julian Borger in The Guardian (thanks to all who sent this in):
The US has promised to curb air strikes by drones against suspected militants in Pakistan, as part of a joint counter-terrorism strategy agreed with the new civilian government in Islamabad, the Guardian has learned. That strategy will be supported by an aid package potentially worth more than $7bn (£3.55bn), which is due to go before Congress for approval in the next few months. The package would triple the amount of American non-military aid to Pakistan, and is aimed at "redefining" the bilateral relationship, US officials say.
Pakistan will also be given a "democracy dividend" of up to $1bn, a reward for holding peaceful elections and forming a coalition government. Of that, $200m could be approved in the next few days.
The aid package, being put together by the Democratic senator Joseph Biden, will mark a decisive break in US policy on Pakistan, which for much of the past nine years focused on President Pervez Musharraf and the Pakistani military as Washington's primary partners in the "war on terror". Officials in Washington said yesterday that the shift had already been made.
"Senator Biden wants to show the relationship is much broader than a military one, and that we are willing to sustain it over time," one of the senator's senior aides said yesterday.
A US administration official said: "Each day Musharraf's influence becomes less and less. Civilians are in control. People aren't meeting with Musharraf any more ... we are very pleased with the new civilian government."
Pakistani officials say much of the new counter-terrorism aid will be spent on civilian law enforcement institutions, such as the interior ministry, the intelligence bureau and the federal investigation agency, rather than being channelled almost exclusively through the army and the military-run Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) organisation....

AND what do we get in return?
It is passed through Washington D.C. as 'counter-terrorism'. The 'terrorism' term makes it move faster.
But it is for 'non-military' money.
And will be 're-defining' our bilateral relationship.
This is America spending more money on a third world nation that hates us. This money will be used on 'law-enforcement and setting up a federal agency'.
Is this action of buying the new goverment and weakening the Paki military?

This is sick. I mean here they are protesting against fitna and now we give them billions. The Pakistanis a majority of them hate the US. They support Osama Bin Laden and the jihad. They send and train terrorists with its borders.

and we give them visas, food and housing assistance, low student loans, and immunity from the police asking them questions.
and we have others who want to ban our government from monitoring their phones, internet use, and their whereabouts..
and then we have Dhimmi Carter who wants to kiss them..

You know I think the Pakistanis know how to play the boys on the Hill. They know how to get the Jizya from the infidels the kaffir nation of USA. Our leaders are being played by the Pakistanis very charmingly by giving false promises and just demanding more money. While the terrorists train there and Western Muslims go there and get trained to attack and continue the Jihad. This Islamic nation was created to continue the 1400 war against the rest of the civilized world. That is why it is along with a few others the most dangerous country to both India and the West. China maybe a danger too.

The U.S. needs to STOP borrowing money to give to other countries.
STOP IT!!!!!
The U.S. is not the richest country anymore and cannot afford to be throwing money around.
How can the US call itself rich when it owes trillions? Debt that will take generations to pay off?
Who is better off? Someone who makes 100,000 a year and has no debt OR someone who makes one million a year but has 3 million in debt to the mafia?
That goes for Britain and Europe, too.
STOP giving away your peoples money.
That money was gotten with life blood of people. Their time and life not spendt doing other things. Working, not praying for manna from others.
They are not working their lives away for you to throw it at others. It should be for the benefit of them and their country.
There goes the infrastructure.
There goes the health care system.
There goes the pension fund.
STOP IT
STOP IT
STOP IT

Not one more penney until our 'leaders' crack open a koran and also hadiths and read the darn things. Then they will take all that money they earmark for muslim countries and put it towards brainwashing muslims in our own country to dump the koran.
I mean, gee, the muslims have so easily brainwashed so many here - why can't the reverse be done?!

What a waste of money!
We are already paying for our destruction by buying oil.
There are better ways to spend this kind of money.Pakistan isn't a good investment whatever.

Finding Bin Laden? What a joke. It took them for ever to find Warren Jeff, from the Mormon religion.
The Bush family were buddies with the Bin Laden family too. George W Bush has received money from the Bin Ladens, I did read that article way back.
George W Bush may be now owes a favor to the Bin- Laden family. May be our government was asked not to kill him. It is still their son and has not given up on his religion, so what does it matter to the Bin Laden family if he kills more infidils. Bin Laden lost his citizenship from Saudi Arabia. Is he just living there, in the caves, from those tremdous mountain between Afghanistan and Pakistan. A man without a country and no citizenship.
There are so many questions, who has an answer for all of those question.

Every day on the news all we hear about the US economy is gloom and doom.
Why do they keep giving money to people who want to kill us all? Why don't islamic nations ever contribute anything to the care and upkeep of their muslim brothers and sisters? Why even ask these questions anymore? It's all so discouraging.

Interesting how these countries have to be bribed in order to do the right thing...and as Spencer asked, what about the accountability? Who's going to define fighting terror? Does that include reformation of their Madrassa schools, Mosques, tv stations? Or simply to go after the active physical jihadists ignoring tomorrows jihadists and the rest of the non qitaal jihad supporters?
Keeping the Jizya taps on i see.
