"Girl irritated boy, boy pushed girl and told her to go away." But girl is a Muslim -- an "Asian" in British PC-speak -- and so boy is charged with racial assault and hounded. He has been cleared, but the whole thing is a travesty from beginning to end. Who made sure these charges were brought? What is being done about them to ensure this kind of thing will not happen again? Nothing, of course.
"How can my son be racist, asks mother of Down's boy charged after playground spat with Asian girl," by Natasha Courtenay-Smith for the Daily Mail:
Until recently, Fiona Bauld thought her 18-year-old son Jamie had not fully grasped the gravity of the situation he found himself in.It brought her solace that her child, who has Down's syndrome and the mental age of a five-year-old, hadn't fully comprehended the charges of racism and assault against him, let alone begun to contemplate the consequences.
But one night shortly after Christmas, as the family watched TV, Fiona realised to her horror that Jamie was not as oblivious as she'd hoped.
A scene featuring a prison appeared on screen, at which point Jamie said quietly: "I don't want to go to jail, Mum. Please don't let them take me away." He then burst into tears.
"I rushed over, put my arms around him and told him everything was going to be fine," says Fiona.
"All through this nightmare I've done my best to put on a smile and act normally around Jamie, simply to protect him from everything that was happening. But that night, as he sobbed in my arms, I wasn't sure everything would be OK.
"My worst fear was that Jamie would be taken away somewhere that I wouldn't be able to protect him. I said: 'Jamie, you're not going to prison', but I found myself in tears, too."
When Fiona - who lives in Cumbernauld, Lanarkshire, with her husband James, 46, a telecommunications contractor, and their daughter Stephanie, 17 - uses the word "nightmare" she is making no understatement.
Hers is a situation so ridiculous it would be laughable, had the potential ramifications not been so serious.
Her story also serves as a disturbing example of how extreme political correctness can allow minor of incidents to be blown out of all proportion.
The events which have brought her such anguish in recent months begun with what was effectively a playground spat between two individuals with special needs.
It soon escalated into a seven-month criminal investigation that could have resulted in Fiona's son being hauled before a court and left with a criminal record.
Last September, Jamie - who is 18 but cannot even tie his own shoelaces, needs help on the lavatory, mustn't be left alone in the house and still relies on his mother to tuck him up in bed at night - had an altercation with an Asian girl of a similar age, also a pupil at the special needs department of Motherwell College in Lanarkshire, where Jamie is a student.
Put quite simply - girl irritated boy, boy pushed girl and told her to go away. Then, girl responded by telling her teacher.
The two were sent their separate ways and their parents informed about the falling out.
Given their mental ages, it was no more significant than a playground spat between two five-year-olds. That should have been the end of it.
Instead, a notice was placed in the local newspaper - it is not known by whom - asking for witnesses to a "racial assault" at the college on the day in question.
Whether this notice led to the police investigation, or whether the family of the girl contacted them directly is still not clear. Either way, just over a week later, Jamie was charged with racism and assault.
It was an insane example of overzealous political correctness; a local zero-tolerance policy on racism taken to its extremes without any common sense being applied, let alone consideration for the unusual circumstances of the individuals involved.
After months of stress and fear, the Baulds' ordeal came to an end yesterday when, in a remarkable climbdown, the Crown Office issued a formal apology to the family for any distress caused over the past seven months.
All charges have now been dropped, but this, says Fiona, is not enough.
Not only have they encountered confusion, red tape and a lack of compassion in their dealings with the Scottish legal system, they are left fearing that Jamie will forever have a blot on his reputation as a result of being charged at all.
"Our family has been put through a terrible ordeal over nothing," says Fiona. "It is utterly ridiculous that the authorities brought adult charges against our son, who was not only innocent, but clearly unable to comprehend why he was in trouble.
"For instance, when the police arrived to interview Jamie, he welcomed them with a big smile and a handshake. As they read him his rights, he said thank you for coming to see him, and agreed with everything they said."...

After what had been endured by Codie Stott, I didn't think it could possibly get any worse.
My God.
Is this the world we're living in now?

The parents of the down syndrome boy needs to stop acting like a victim and pull the same thing the muslims do. Start saying they are the racists and prejudiced ones.
This is inane! This article just blazed 'nazi Germany' to me. Remember the disabled were some of the first to be brought to the ovens. This is not as drastic, but if they allow a disabled, mentally handicapped boy be charged just because the girl was a muslim - then the UK is lost already.
They should scold the muslim family out for even bringing the thing to the level that it is now. In fact, they should charge the muslim family for the costs incurred to even take it this far.
I cannot believe the utter arrogance of muslims.

But those imams who advocated killing gays and preached hatred against Jews while being filmed in Channel 4's Undercover Mosque had no action taken against them.
Indeed, the police condemned Channel 4 for stirring up community tensions!
Why didn't the same apply here?
Clearly a Down's syndrome boy is a bigger threat than an adult preacher of hate.

Well with a mental age of five he wouldn't be prosecutable anyway. Didn't the police officers notice?
This simply can't be true, tell me someone it isn't. It's some sort of made up story, a joke, a prank, please someone tell me it isn't true.

-Ian
Right you are and this point needs to be hammered home. Where are the advocates on behalf of the handicapped? There should be a counter suit, perhaps some individual or entity could come to MS Bauld's assistance in such an endeavor? Discrimination and unreasonable prosecution against the handicap must trump any "racist" charges in what has devolved into an insane game of rock, paper, scissors.

Brits are truly pathetic. Every day brings another embarassing story. Charging the boy was just insane. I used to think just the British government that was worthless, but the general population has some responsibility to stand up and defend itself. Simpering pansies. I no longer tell anyone I'm of British stock. What happened? Maybe the French will come to their rescue.

Now that they're here in their millions, they've become confused. Now that they're here, they'd like us to leave. Now that they're here, they imagine that if we'd just die, or leave, or become slaves like them, that everything would be perfect, as if anything would remain of what we and our ancestors created without any contribution from them.
Now that they're here, it's increasingly, painfully clear that they don't belong here, that they never should have come, that we never should have allowed it.
They contribute far far too little, and cost far far too much in every conceivable way and on every conceivable level.

Not all Brits are push-overs, or PC, or apologists for Islam, but you never hear about them, because they aren't worth reporting about. Instead, you get flooded with a multitude of negative crap about Brits, distorting us into a weak-minded people who want to be taken over by Islam, or other such negative images.
Next time you turn on the news, just count how many are negative / showing the depravity, evil and immorality of humanity.
Realise that the media thrives on negativity.

The phrase "extreme political correctness" is well used here. However, as more of these cases come to light, it is clear how they reflect the supremacist elements of Sharia law. This is not a coincidence. One can speculate how this might develop, but each step is a small step from which there is no return without a fight, and UK politicians have no stomach for anything other than total appeasement.

Yet the other recent playground "spat", the brutal hammer attack on white schoolboy Harry Webster in Swindon (UK) by 16 Asian youths goes virtually unreported. And even though the attackers were a gang called the "Asian Invaders" who had been causing trouble for some time, and the victim was a red haired white boy who was selected because he stood out, not once have I seen the attack referred to as racist. Can you imagine the outcry if it had been 16 whites that had attacked and nearly killed one Asian?

I remember as a kid in school, long before there were things like PC or mulit-culti or tolerance, we could, without fear, play games like cowboys and indians, cops and robbers.....you know, those rough and tumble days when boys were boys, and that was OK. I probably pushed a girl or two when I was young, and the most I got was maybe a spank on the butt from Mom, or even, if teachers saw it a paddle from the Principal (no permission slip needed). This episode, unfortunately shows all too clear that we are no longer in Kansas (sorry Dorothy).
What a shame....utterly, totally soul searing.
We may be doomed.

The bozo that has overseen this politically correct madness for over ten years is currently cozying up to U.S. politicians as we speak.
The man is scum.
Yet what have I seen in the last couple of days?
Not only George. W., - but all three Presidential nominees skipping around the mulberry bush with Chairman Brown!
As others on this link have already eluded too - the British press are a completely different animal to their U.S. counterparts. They chase all stories of absolute ridicule concerning the British left and their hatred of anything "English" like rabid dogs.
We the English are ignored. Not because we have submitted to this politically correct garbage, but because our press are now on an all out crusade to remove Gordon Brown and his Nu Labour junta from our very consciousness.
Long may these reports continue. Long may the politically correct left continue to gerrymander with their policies of "Social Cohesion".
On May the first - we will see the first results in a long line of an English "lurch" to the right.
Will this be reported on in the U.S.?
Who knows, but from what Ive seen from your political elite over the last few days, they certainly havent got the message yet!
Gordon Brown and his amoral, despotic government are now more despised than Neville Chamberlin was in the 1930s, after his outright appeasement to Hitler.
Do we have a Churchill at hand at this moment in time?
No!!!!
But we wont fall to Islam either.
Gordon Brown might though!!!

There are to many keyboard anti-jihadi warriors here and at LGF who like to slag Europe and the UK, yet they forget that in the UK there happens to be a growing political party that is confronting islam head on.
It is this party that has exposed that it was muslims who have been involved in some of the worst crimes committed recently.
It was this party that exposed that it was muslim gangs that where targeting school girls to be sex slave, also exposing muslim gangs to behind the Heroin trade
Yes it was the BNP who months before any-one else exposed, that it was muslims behind the murder of, Charlene Downes who was chooped up and served as kebabs, the rape and murder of Mary-Ann Leneghan, the cowardly killing of Christopher Yates, the gruesome torture and slaughter of Kriss Donald of Glascow, who had his eyes ripped out before being burnt alive, one month after Anthony Farrell also of Glasgow was stabbed to death. In all these cases the the biggest selling English tabloids and the local newspapers remained completely silent about for months, and in some cases for years. They where not even reported here at jihad watch until after the MSM started reporting them.
There are hundreds of BNP supporters who are on the streets at the weekends giving out leaflets and material exposing islam. And Robert Spencer and Charles Johnson claims they are Nazis.
Me thinks it is the Amerikii key board warriors who are who are pathetic, not the brits
How many here at jihad watch would have the balls the give out anti-islamic material in places like Bradford or Burnley
There are to many here who used this article to criticize the Brits, yet no one made the effort to point out the difference between the parents, where the non muslim parents showed understanding of the children, where as the muslim used their child as to win more points for islam.

I am afraid this is nothing new in Britain
Some years ago (8?) in Ipswich a 10 year-old “Asian” was harassing a fat schoolmate for weeks – for being fat. Eventually the boy pushed him and shouted something like “Leave me alone you Paki b******”.
The “Asians” Father complained to the headmaster who said “Its just a kids' playground thing” and did nothing. So the Asians father then went to the local police who said, “It's just a kids playground thing” and did nothing. I don't know where the Asians father went next, perhaps the Race Relations people but the fat kid ended up with the Crown Prosecution Service no less, charging him with “Aggravated racial assault” which these days is a pretty serious offence.
He was not treated as a juvenile but hit by the full power of the judicial system and it was only an outcry in the national press that stopped the proceedings. Nevertheless as a result of a plea bargain he ended up with a police record. I think the deal was he had to admit he was guilty and a record of the offence would be kept on file. This meant that if he ever again called an Asian who was giving him a hard time Paki b******” or anything like it, he would be punished as a repeat offender, in short a convicted racist. The Asians father naturally thought the outcry was unreasonable and they should have proceeded with the prosecution.
Actually the kid was probably lucky because so far as I know Ipswich is not a particularly Asian area. Since then, on more than one occasion when an Asian has come off worst in a playground scuffle their cousins arrive at the school mob-handed to beat up the islamophobe.
Finally do not be too hard on the Police because they are under considerable pressure in these cases. I think there is a government instruction that they must investigate and prosecute in every reported instance and heaven help them if they don’t.

Why is it that when a negative report of America is provided, the Brits say nothing or offer sympathetic comments. However, when the position is reversed the comments border on sheer hatred.
To call us 'antisemite' is the last straw. As an ardent supporter of Israel and the Jewish people, I am deeply offended by this remark.

The Americans who constantly post derogatory remarks about the UK and other European countries either do not know or have forgotten that the ideas that have led the west to this troubled state of affairs (mass immigration, political correctness, multiculturalism, the idea that history and culture are meaningless, granting citizenship to whomever is born within the nation, etc...) mostly originated in America. Also, America has an extremely short history. Europe has been through all sorts of ups and downs of various degrees, and we will get through this, as well.
And to the individual who said that the UK was anti-semitic, you may be unaware of this, but it was the UK who fought Nazi Germany alone, after the defeat of France, until the USSR and the USA joined WW II.
(And no, I'm not British.)

it took me awhile to get a answer this questionon how the disabled are treated under Islam and to myself I found it very important because I'm disabled [2 strokes] and a ex-Muslim told me that under Islam in Islamic countries the disabled are treated as though they are evil because they must've done something wrong for Allha to curse them with a disability. That said I would think that the Council on American Islamic relations will end up using this as an example of Islamic phobia but whoever filed the charges consider this boy is a down syndrome boy should be taken out and flogged!when I was in a school for disabled kids and the dyslexic kids about a quarter of our classmates were children with down syndrome and I say from experience that these children if nothing else are some of the most loving kids you'll ever meet and totally innocent of any racism or prejudice by but considering the attitude towards the disabled by Muslims is not too surprising that some Muslim rectum [I'm being polite] would of gone and filed a complaint like this with the authorities.

If we don't hang together, we will hang separately, friends.
I'm an American, and I dislike, with all my heart, to see fellow Americans say that our British and European cousins deserve Islam and more Islam.
Only Muslims deserve Islam, and even some of them don't deserve it.
When I hear (read) of troubles with Islam and Muslims in other countries, I don't feel scorn. I feel anxiety. It will begin here, in time. It already has, in some places.
As for America's crop of candidates for the highest office in the land, stick a fork in me--I'm done! There's no one to vote for, only people to vote against.
Crusader, I'm with you, when you say Down Syndrome kids are: "some of the most loving kids you'll ever meet and totally innocent of any racism or prejudice..." .

With all the anti-American sentiment in Europe, especially in Britain, I guess it's sort of a tit-for-tat kind of thing.
It is sad to see people gloating about the stupidity of the Brits, especially when we have a lot of it here in America with our idiotic zero-tolerance policies that suspend 6 year olds for sexual harrassment.
at April 19, 2008 11:40 PM
Anti-American sentiment amongst indigenous Britons, certainly amongst the "working class", is little more than a myth.It is generally polarized by ingenuous,"see no evil, hear no evil" leftist cohorts and their populist, venal, insincere mullahs`,a la Livingstone and Galloway.
The British street is not naive, despite the attempts to dumb down society through the emasculation of common sense. There is no doubting that our culture and values are under a sustained assault on 2 fronts by the leftist and Islamic enablers,a scenario that is being acted out globally. At this moment in history, our only recourse of action,as a decent, just people, is through the ballot box.Should the time ever come when the British people are forced to physically take back our country,we will not be found wanting.
This war was set on its inexorable path 1400 years ago by a pernicious charlatan,a fact that will have to be imposed on all freedom loving peoples.America,as the flag bearer for these peoples, has more friends than the duplicitous, iniquitous alliance would have the world believe. Freedom has to,and will prevail.

Whatever happened to the English Common Law principle of being able to face your accusers? Or is that another one of the freedoms that we're going to have to give up if we're to enjoy the full sharia experience? Apparently we've already given up the right to have playground spats.
