Iranian police bust birthday party as "non-authorized promiscuous gathering"

That begs the question: Are there ever authorized promiscuous gatherings? Sharia Alert. "Iran: Police arrest 75 young people for 'immoral acts'," from Adnkronos International:

Tehran, 22 April (AKI) - Seventy-five young people accused of 'immoral acts' have been arrested by police at a birthday party in the city of Shiraz in southwestern Iran.
The young men and women were accused of "immoral acts" and of holding a "non-authorised promiscuous gathering" said the chief commander of the police forces, Ali Moayyedi.
"These young people were dancing, drinking alcohol and listening to forbidden western music," said Moayyedi.
It is not the first time police have raided private parties and arrested people.
While they may not approve of such behaviour at parties, some Muslim clerics consider these kinds of police raids unjustified and an intrusion into people's private lives.

Are there ever authorized promiscuous gatherings?

Yes they are several authorised promiscuous gatherings that follow the example set by the wise man (oops sorry prophet) mohammed:

1) Slave markets after jihad
2) Temporary wives whilst on the holy haj
3) Saudis at brothels in India (they like their boys young)
4) Punishing women who bring shame (often without evidence) by gang rape in Pakistan and other civilised Islamic nations.

5) Practising for heaven's rewards by raping civilian women and children whilst waging Jihad (pretty much all islamic conquests in all times. Current top ranking place is Sudan and closer to Europe was common in Nagorno Karabakh (Armenia) recently)

6) Moslem immigrants in non-moslem countries getting young girls (as young as 10 in Oldham UK) drunk or drugged up and raped. It's the girls' faults for not dressing property, etc not the moslems for ignoring their alleged prophet Jesus whom they allegedly respect who said "if your eye causes you to sin better to gauge it out"

Number 6 is also authorised by Western governments, social workers, police, and feminist groups who keep it quiet.

I'm sure I've missed a few -- perhaps others could add to the list?

We need a remake of the movie 'Footloose' starring Kevin Bacon in a turbin with a beard and all of the women in burka's.

Well, I guess some muslim clerics should have a sit down with the head Ayatollah and explain it to him.
He is just misunderstanding something from the Quran. ...

alaskan1000, I'd rather see Kevin Bacon in a burka than the girls. He is too annoying!

Hitler used to ban big band music as well as abstract art as degenerate. And yet they were the biggest degenerates around.

Same thing with the Iranians.

The first words of this post include the phrase "begs the question."

Please, please find out what this phrase really means. It does not mean what you think it means.

Even the sainted and revered HF mis-used this phrase a while back.

I want to dismiss this as a quibble, but I cannot bring myself to do so.

In the fight against jihad and mohammed-worship, we must be the ones who use words and phrases carefully and accurately.

Please do not debase this phrase more than it has been debased.

I don't comment enough on JW and DW to know much about the commentator above me. I hope he isn't a liberal :-) because I'm about to agree with him. I literally came down into the comments thread to comment for the very same reason. Respectfully and gently, I request that the phrase "begs the question" not be used incorrectly. It does not mean "raises the question" or "makes one think of the question" or "raises a question that begs for an answer" or anything like that. To beg the question is to argue in a circle; it is to assume that which was to be proved. This incorrect usage of it is spreading and should be nipped in the bud.

there seems to be a problem with Muslim men like the idiots in the Iranian version of the religious police obviously have not found their own lives or wives and have nothing better to do than stick their noses where they don't belong could it be because they have never gotten laid themselves or is been two or three years since the last time they had a bowel movement and are full of feces

I want to thank the commentator above me, Lydia, for Lydia's post.

And I want to assure Lydia that I am not a liberal. Actually, I cannot think of a term to describe or characterize my political pov, but "not a liberal" might be the best, if not very descriptive otherwise.

I truly revere HF, and consider him one of the unknown gems of Western Civilization. His prose is subtle, amusing, informative, erudite, moving, and pedagogical in precisely the way we (the rest of Western Civilization) need, right now.

But even HF mis-used the phrase, and I fell 20 stories to the ground when I saw it.

Robert Spencer in his heroic efforts (I mean that, and that is what they are) is daily battling with semantics. Words, words, words ....

This is a war of ideas. Ideas are expressed by words.

The 20th century in general, and modern America in particular, have made war on words and meaning.

It is so discouraging. We do not lack the intellect. We lack the focus on the very basics.

We are a buffoon, colored-ribbon society in America, and an aggressive anti-intellectual civilization in the West.

Logic should be taught from grade one on.

And "begging the question," please, please, please, should be used as it should be used. It is such a wonderful phrase. But our egos, apparently, are more wonderful.

Posted by: pulsar182 at April 22, 2008 9:12 PM

Your rhetorical question resonates constantly in my mind and we both know the answer, although it is hardly logical. The elites of the West want muslim immigration to add to the glorious tapestry of diversity and multiculturalism. They are quite positive that identity politics, affirmative action, special interest minority groups, and every divisive factor generated by dozens of disparite, third-world ethnicities, cultures, and religions clamoring for special favors will bring people together to live in perfect harmony and peace.

The intellectual elites have determined that nation states are obsolete and the solution to xenophobia, racism, and bigotry is to mix every conceivable religion, culture, race, and ethnicity only in Western societies, where each group remains intact and eventually demands autonomy. What a brilliant and palliative solution to the world's problems. But don't worry, only the indigenous people of Western nations will suffer the consequences of this insanity.

History illustrates the idiocy and suicidal effects of multiculturalism which resulted in the downfall of empires and civilizations, so the utopians rewrote history and created the U.N. They persist in their dream of one-world government and an idyllic, harmonious, peaceful world with no more war. The social engineers are creating the ideal circumstances for protracted civil wars around the globe. Human nature cannot be manipulated or changed by politics, utopian social engineers, or wishful thinking.

Because the only authorized promiscuous gatherings are those of the mullahs and their harems, the raping of non-Muslim "kufrs", the orgies in heaven with 72 white-skinned whouris, the molesting of boys in madrassas, etc. In other words, normal behaviour out, mullah-controlled perversion in.
Forgot to write in on April 20th: Happy Birthday Hitler and Mohammad. Moe's birthday was Monday the 20th day of April, 571 A.C, but roams around the calendar due to the Islamic "year," which is 11 days short of a true year.

Marisol,

Grammar Alert!

"To beg the question" does NOT mean "to invite the question".

"These young people were dancing, drinking alcohol and listening to forbidden western music," said Moayyedi.

Sounds a lot like "drugs, sex, and rock'n'roll" to me.
A lot depends on just how young "these young people" are. If they're in their 20's, then probably most Americans would disapprove of the government's actions. But what if they were of high-school age? I often read articles in the paper where the police raid a party where teens are drinking alcohol (oh, the horror!), and the public approves.

The internet and MTV are very difficult aspects of life to stop.

The children have media on formats that their parents cannot even begin to track.

I wonder how happy and content the people of Iran actually are.

Here's hoping for a further Iranian Revolution.

The alternative is total destruction of their country when they go a few more steps in the direction of Nukes.

And since I am in New York: 'newspaper's' and 'soda's' and 'cigarette's'..

My God, it sounds like they were having fun! Maybe they could actually converse with a member of the opposite sex and fall in love! The horror. What an absolute joke of a religion.

Yes, it's called the "30 minute marriage license"; but it's generally only for a "gathering" of two people.

This reminds me of the movie SWING KIDS about pre-
WW2 adolescents in Germany trying to grow up and have fun in a strict, backwards society. I feel sorry for these Iranian kids who refuse to follow the Quran, or their cultural norm. They are most likely a lot braver than all of us sitting behind our computer screens!!!
