Prophethood: it's just not the growth industry it once was. Sharia Alert from modern, moderate Indonesia: "'Prophet' jailed for contempt of Islam," from Agence France-Presse (thanks to Twostellas):
THE leader of an Indonesian sect who had controversially claimed he was a prophet has been jailed for four years for contempt against Islam.Ahmad Mushaddeq alias Abu Salam, 63, leader of the Al Qiyadah Al Islamiyah sect, was "guilty of showing contempt in public against a religion recognised by the state," Judge Zahrul Rabaid told a packed courtroom today.
The verdict was greeted by religious chanting by hundreds of followers who had crammed South Jakarta district court since early in the morning.
A police officer said 2000 people were at the venue.
Mushaddeq's claim violated a central Islamic tenet that the Prophet Muhammad is the last prophet and will not be followed by any other messengers from God.
His group was proscribed as "deviant" by the country's top clerics last year, echoing the same charge levelled against the Ahmadiya sect this year.
Mushaddeq, who told the court he will appeal, was whisked into a police detention car that left immediately for the state prison....

"Mushaddeq's claim violated a central Islamic tenet that the Prophet Muhammad is the last prophet and will not be followed by any other messengers from God."
Whoa, hold on a minute! I'm confused. Isn't Jesus (Isa, to the ignorant), a prophet, according to the Qur'an? Does the Qur'an not say that Jesus will return? Will this not happen after Mohammed?
See my confusion, here? How can Mohammed be the final prophet, if Jesus is to return? Is this an example of Islamic logic?

Without being presumptuous I think I can: MADhomedans are unable to think. There is no logic in the KKKorag therefore nothing for them has to be fact. Everything is what they want it to be.

We believe that no new prophet will come.

Take note: Indonesia is the country Muslim apologists try to use to show that Islam is capable of liberal democracy. Well, this is only one of many examples of how Islamic culture in Indonesia as elsewhere, tends to outlaw non-Muslims culture.

The word prophet has two connotations, one is that man who through the revelation of God foresees the future and what is to come, Isaiah, Jesus, Rabbi Saul of Tarsus, this also connects with the pagan ideal of oracles, Delphi, Apollo. There is another usage that is not very prevalent today and that fits Mahomet better, and that is a prophet as one who preaches, who rebukes worldly powers and expounds moral truths.
In the connotation of preacher every Islamic that adds any ideas, that attempts to connect todays situations using reason or previously revealed knowledge is violating Mahomets stricture of no prophet (preacher) coming after him.
It is a typical fault of tyrants not to ever foresee their own demise and passage from the scene, Stalin had so decimated any possible rivals to power that the office devolved unto Kruschchev. With Mahomet the same sort of thing occured, purely speaking anyone such as Mullah Omar who tried on Mahomets cloak is in a way a usurper and is setting themselves up in the prophets office, which as the recitation (koran) pretty clearly stated, is not fillable.

What's really going on with this of course is Islamic bloodlust.
Logic has no place in Islamic teachings and never has. That is no secret. I mean is there ANYTHING in Islam that makes any empirical sense at all anyway????? (no). So we'll have to look elsewhere for an answer as to what this is about.
With these Indonesians, we see yet more Muslims who were formerly (we think) human beings and have been converted into yet more killer-Zombies for al-lah who smell blood. And they are rushing in for the kill.... "for al-lah."
It is the killing and punishment of humans for al-lah that really matters in the Muslim world. Everything else (including logic) is essentially disposible in Islam--and ultimately IS disposed of, like this "prophet".

Let's be fair, plenty of would be messiahs met their deaths in the hands of ancient Jews and Christians. But I thought this was the 21 century, not the 11th

Touch-tones sounds....
"Hello, Islamic information, what's the number for the Infidel Ask-An-Imam Hotline again?"
"What's that, 6-666-666-666-6? I thought it was toll free to Hell for infidels."
Click.
More touch-tones...
"I want to know if it's O.K. to make cartoons of this nutjob who pretends to be a prophet."
"Oh yeah, is ohkay, he's a fake."
"What about the nutjobs that put him on trial?"
"Careful, infidel."
"By the way, what are you in for?"
Click.

Would be Messiahs...well, yes. That's fair enough.
This Ahmad Mushaddeq alias Abu Salam, however is in trouble for claiming to be a prophet, not The prophet.
In fairness to the ancient Jews and Christians, the Old Testament book of Joel says: "Your sons and daughters will prophesy." (Joel 2:28) The implication is that this is good and to be expected.
Christians and Jews (making a really broad generalization here) tend to be wary of self-proclaimed prophets, but even I could walk up and down the main drag of my town with a sandwich board emblazoned with "I am a prophet", and I wouldn't be jailed for it.
