A 17-year-old Iraqi girl was murdered by her father in an honour killing after falling in love with a British soldier she met while working on an aid programme in Basra, it has been claimed.Rand Abdel-Qader was stamped upon, suffocated and stabbed by her father, then given an unceremonious burial to emphasise her disgrace. Police released her father without charge two hours after his arrest.
"Not much can be done when we have an honour killing case," said Sergeant Ali Jabbar of Basra police. "You are in a Muslim society and women should live under religious laws. The father has very good contacts inside the Basra government and it wasn't hard for him to be released and what he did to be forgotten."
A total of 47 young women died in honour killings in the city last year, Basra Security Committee told an investigation into Ms Abdel-Qader's case by The Observer. This is believed to be the only case of an honour killing involving a British soldier.
The MoD had no official advice for troops on how to behave with Iraqi women. The serviceman involved would not have been told that any relationship with her could put her life at risk, the paper said.
Ms Abdel-Qader, a student of English at Basra University, had struck up a friendship with a 22-year-old British infantryman known only as Paul five months before her murder in March.
She was believed to have last seen him in January, and the pair, whose relationship was innocent, only ever met while working at the aid station. The soldier was helping deliver relief to displaced families as part of his regimental duties. Ms Abdel-Qader was a volunteer worker....

true words spoken by another Muslim without a clue about honor...this is another Muslim would probably shoot a GI or British soldier in the back at the first availiable opportunity..
and yet our cowardly governments keep letting these people in..sheeeeesh...

Muslim women do prefer blonds...and the young British soldier no doubt treated her with a tender heart and showed her respect...something strangely foreign in her own home..and she liked it...

These people don't understand the meaning of honor. When you are dishonored you are NOT suppose to kill your daughter, you are suppose to kill yourself.
Someone should send to each Muslim man instructions on Seppuku. It does wonders for restoring one's honor.

Muslim women soon discover that Christian and Jewish men treat them with dignity and respect. Muslim men must kill in order to keep women coming to them. Islam creates and inferior culture and inferior men. This is why they need such strict rules with their women.
Think about it. Why would women leave if not for greener pastures. Islam is an embarrassment to humanity.

This will be the legacy of our stupid Iraq venture. We've set up a government that is so inimical to the democratic model that the authorities don't even prosecute cold-blooded killers of teenage girls when they catch them red-handed. This is what our fortune and our blood have purchased.
We've brought true freedom to ordinary moms and dads, who are free to kill their own children with impunity.

I think I much prefer G K Chesterton's medieval Christian chivalric definition of 'honour', as expressed in, for example, the following poem:
"The Crusader Returns From Captivity" -
'I have come forth alive from the land of purple and poison and glamour
where the charm is strong as the torture, being chosen to change the mind;
torture of wordless dance and wineless feast without clamour,
palace hidden in palace, garden with garden behind;
'Women veiled in the sun, or bare as brass in the shadows,
and the endless eyeless patterns where each thing seems an eye...
And my stride is on Caesar's sand where it slides to the English meadows
To the last low woods of Sussex and the road that goes to Rye.

Poor young Ms Abdel-Qader, 17 years old, studying ENGLISH at the university, and probably shyly attempting to practise her English language skills with the nice young English soldier, only 22.
Poor Ms Abdel-Qader, having no holy freedom, victim of a thoroughly dishonourable murder.
We in the West need to re-learn our own definition of honour, for then we will be furiously INTOLERANT of a ghastly culture and belief-system that teaches a father to pitilessly (upon the mere suspicion of a 'crime' that in other, wiser societies, is no crime at all) stamp upon, suffocate and stab his defenceless 17 year old daughter and shuffle her into the ground without ceremony, as if she meant no more to him than a cat or a rat; a hideous, evil, psychopathic culture, rotten with false pride, that treats the murderer - the performer of human sacrifice - as a hero, to be praised rather than punished.
Instead of telling our young men - 'don't even LOOK at the girls or they'll get killed' - we need to gently, inexorably let it be known, that any young woman seeking refuge and freedom behind the strong right arms of our men, will NOT be sent back to the human sacrificers, but will be defended with extreme prejudice; and that this is OUR definition of HONOUR.

For this America's finest have fought, killed, suffered and died in combat.
It is, indeed, insanity to continue to sacrifice American lives to prop up a Sharia state, one that sanctions honor killings, the subjugation of women, and all the other attendant horrors of Islam.
It is beyond insanity. It is a huge crime against the People Of The United States Of America and the sons and daughters who have lost their lives to "liberate" that Hell hole.
My nephew has done two tours in Iraq, came home with a purple heart and saw scores of his brothers in arms killed there. I'm very proud of him for his service and his sacrifices.
I'm completely disgusted with the Bush Administration for its stupefyingly miserable failure to take the time to educate itself and understand what drives the enemy - the Koran, Islamic doctrine and Sharia.

Except that the British probably pay him good Jizya not to... which would be the ONLY reason for being "on their side".

Usually one hears about women from more traditional, male-oriented cultures (Eastern European, Japanese, Chinese etc) going for Western guys... however very rarely does this happen in just about THE most anti-woman culture around...... strange, no?
