UK: Stop pandering to Muslims, say Muslims

Advice for lovelorn dhimmis. "Stop pandering to Muslims says 'silent majority,'" by Riazat Butt in The Guardian (thanks to Twostellas):

The government's attempts to placate Muslims will cause long-term damage to communities, a charity said yesterday.

The warning came from Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, chair and co-founder of the British Muslims for Secular Democracy, a new organisation claiming to represent the "silent majority who feel no conflict between their faith and democracy".

Speaking before the launch, attended by Baroness Kishwer Faulkner and former Islamist Ed Husain, the journalist said the government was pandering to Muslims by granting too many concessions, fuelling their separation from the rest of society.

Husain? Bad sign.

"The government has found a way of placating Muslims in a way that will only damage us in the long term, Muslims wanting separate schools or different measures. There must be one law for all.

"This differential accommodation leads to us being pushed to the edges. How is it that the Sikhs and Hindus can live in democracy but not Muslims?"

Excellent question! Will it lead to an honest discussion of Sharia? I doubt it, but it is good to see it even asked.

She added: "The perception is that Muslims receive a disproportionate amount of attention and funding and that perception is justified. This ridiculous, distorted, exaggerated single identity has made us no friends."...

Indeed.

Presumably, it has been 'pulled' owing to pressure from person or persons unknown.

And Alibhai-Brown is right, there's been too much accommodation for the few that infringes on the rights of the many.

Husain's involvement is probably for publicity, but who cares. It's an issue that needs to be publicized and addressed.

Isn't "British Muslims for Secular Democracy" an oxymoron?

Balderdash!

This chap Husain is ubiquitous. Too ubiquitous. He's like someone who transfers from the SS to the Wehrmacht and then says he's no threat to freedom anymore.

Baby steps. But they are still steps and a crack in the hegemony.

"British Muslims for Secular Democracy".

Why isn't the British gov't emphasizing dialog with this group...instead of pandering to radical groups like the British Muslim Council?

"This differential accommodation leads to us being pushed to the edges. How is it that the Sikhs and Hindus can live in democracy but not Muslims?"

Yes, just like Robert and I would like to know why is that? Firstly, I believe it boils down to the fact that the Islam and Sharia are antithetical to democracy. The above two peoples Sikhs and Hindus, Hindus I can say have pluralistic traditions. Hindus from the ancient times have lived side by side with Buddhists, Jains, and the various diversity of India, from language, food etc. The Vedic traditions of India have celebrated the diversity of the natural world and the significance human potential. These may be one of the reasons why Hindus can live in democratic societies. As far as Sikhs I would need some more info. But, they were the defenders of Hinduism. They fought the Mughals in Punjab as they entered into India.

Has everyone seen the election results in London (and beyond)? Red Ken was defeated! Labour has lost badly in many areas. Good News!

"Secular Muslims" is an impossibility according to the Koran.

Just declare apostasy and leave the deathcult and stop the cowardly b.s.-ing.

Yes, at last Ken Livingstone has been defeated despite his blatantly cynical efforts to purchase the support of the 'Muslim vote' by offering concessions to those who seek the enforcement of Sharia Law on Londoners. Sadly, most of our politicians have failed to realise this. The only people who speak with a clear voice on these issues is the British National Party - hence their presence in the London Assembly.

However, the defeat of Livingstone shows that British Democracy is alive and well (despite appearances to the contrary) and that Londoners will never accept Sharia Law!

In our rush to applaud these people we must not forget that although it is commendable that they at last have opened their eyes to the fact that in order to live in peace in non-Muslim countries they must work with democracy - underneath it all they still have the same hatreds and willingness to undermine.

Take Yasmin Alibhai Brown for example. In her newspaper column she takes any opportunity to demonise Israel. By all means welcome this development but be aware that it may not be all it seems.
