All right, you. Stop sniggering. After the last post I put up about the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), I know what the acronym means in some circles -- and in this headline I am practicing Take Back Our Acronyms.
Anyway, note that this Reuters story doesn't (not unexpectedly) say a single thing about jihad and Islamic supremacism, or the idea that all of this strife stems from the principle that non-Muslims have no right to rule over Muslims. Rather, Reuters acts as if the MILF's demands are perfectly justified, and that it is just the obstinacy of the Philippine government "hawks" that keeps peace from dawning over the land.
"Muslim rebels expel Christians," from Reuters (thanks to Twostellas):
Muslim rebels have forced hundreds of mainly Christian families off their farms in the southern Philippines, escalating tensions in the region ahead of the withdrawal of Malaysian peace monitors next week. Rolando Garcia, mayor of Kalamansig town on the troubled southern island of Mindanao, said that heavily-armed members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) claimed the farmers' land belonged to the Muslim minority. "We have about 1,200 people in our temporary shelter areas...afraid to return to their farms," Garcia told reporters, adding rice was about to be harvested when the rebels came late on Wednesday. The 11,000-strong MILF is meant to be observing a ceasefire and a spokesman for the rebel group said he was unaware of any land seizures. "We have not received any report on that," Eid Kabalu told reporters, adding the MILF leadership has ordered units to abide by a 2003 truce even after the Malaysian peace monitors withdraw. Some MILF members are frustrated that long-running peace talks with Manila for the creation of a homeland for Muslims in the south of the largely Catholic country have been stalled since December 2007....Garcia said many Christian communities in the south feared of similar MILF attacks on their farms and villages as frustration boils over.
But analysts have said they do not expect the ceasefire to break down because most MILF members are war weary after a near 40-year conflict that has killed 120,000 people and displaced two million.
The MILF has questioned the sincerity of the government in wanting to create a Muslim homeland in the south.
Although President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has repeatedly said she wants peace, hawks in her cabinet are opposed to giving large swathes of land to Muslims and politically powerful Christian clans in the south would oppose a deal.
Those pesky hawks, getting in the way of dhimmis who want to make concessions!

HIstory repeats itself.
Didn't Mohammed himself (BBOH) order Jewish farmers off their land back in the day?
Nothing new here. Same old same old. Islam is unable to break with the patterns of the past.

We'll be making progess when the headline reads
MILFs expel Jihadis from houses in Umma al-Islmamiyya

Arroyo is the Filipino Chamberlan - Peace in our Time - no matter how many lives it costs or now fleeting it is.
OF course the MILF hasn't had any reports - Since under Islam Christians have no legal standings and nobody would report it anyway for fear of being beheaded for questioning their muslim 'betters'.

I will stop sniggering in a while.....heh.
Seriously, where is the outrage about the treatment of Christians? If this were Israelis and the "displaced Arabs" the media would be going crazy.

escalating tensions in the region ahead of the withdrawal of Malaysian peace monitors next week.Malaysian peace monitors? Did nobody on the Filipino side see a conflict of interest with Mohammedans being asked to monitor those practicing Jihad? Particularly since the Mohammedans in question are from a nearby country, which could just as well have territorial aspirations on Mindanao?
Of course, if the Filipinos believe in the 'Islam is peace' BE, no reason why they should find anything odd about this story.

Abuse of acronyms is not different from abuse of language.
The term 'acronym' dates from the era of manuscript and manual typewriters when each character required marginal effort. In this era of word processors more literate than their operators, write a script to write-out all your favorite acronyms, initialisms and alphabetisms.
Similarly when it comes to Islamo-facist-Jihadi-ism, call a terrorist's tool a spade. Offense is an intrinsic attribute and passive-aggressive behavior.

"All right, you. Stop sniggering"
By the time I stopped sniggering and read that, I really thought it was directed at me.
An acronym is pronounced and used as a word, such as NASA, FEMA, SNAFU, and radar. FBI, MILF, NAACP, and others , if not pronounced as words, are not true acronyms; they are abbreviations. If one says N-A-A-C-P, it is not used as a word and therefore not an acronym.
So, there.

"The MILF has questioned the sincerity of the government in wanting to create a Muslim homeland in the south."
It's too bad if an agreement really has been reached with the Philippine government to create a "Muslim homeland." The Philippines can kiss that province goodbye if it is allowed to come to fruition, and instead will have to start preparing for the day when it is attacked by its former province.

I, nabi ZK, used to think this was such an unfortunate choice of acronyms for this rebel group. I mean, what can they think when they do a google search for their organization? However, this confused identity has resulted in enthusiastic support from many would be adversaries, and this is true even here jihadwatch! This could be possibly some new form of jihadi (oops irhabi) taqueriya. Or then again maybe not.
lonewolf...
It is probably likely that there are at least a few MILFs in MILF. It's just that they are kept in garbage bags so how exactly could we tell.
Believe it or don't.

Pelayo: "FBI, MILF, NAACP, and others , if not pronounced as words, are not true acronyms;"
MILF is pronounced as a word. Perhaps someone should send a note to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and tell them what their abbreviation means and it's trademark copying.

====================================
Well, how DARE they oppose the idea? This is in the glorious cause of PEACE. Wouldn't MOST governments the world over be thrilled, simply THRILLED, to turn over large areas of their national territory to violent insurgents, as long as we say it's to achieve PEACE?
== == ==
PS- Oh ... I just Googled the acronym... To my innocent mind we were talking about Mothers-In-Law, but I couldn't figure out that final letter...

I must admit, I did a little more then snigger when I found out there was a MILF terrorist group.

A Nonny Mouse:
Why would you be surprised? Israel's been doing it for years, and look how well it's worked for them.
That's regarding your first point, by the way.

Just wanted to point out that D.A.R.E. is an acronym, too. I think it stands for "Drug Awareness and Resistance Education".

The Religion of Thieves.
From the article:
"rice was about to be harvested when the rebels came".
So - those thrice-accursed Mohammedan PIRATES and THIEVES sat and watched and waited while the hardworking Christian farmers did all the work, and while the crops ripened, and THEN they swooped in to steal not only the land but the crop. It is soul-withering to imagine what goes on inside the minds of a bunch of arrogant, greedy sociopaths who would do something as cruel and disgusting as that.
I'd hazard the guess that because of this sheer wickedness, the children of those farmers are likely to be going hungry.
It reminds me of a story awhile ago, from Pakistan, where the local jihadis waited till a Christian farmer had a lovely crop of rice all ready to harvest - then they swooped in and stole the lot, ripping off all the results of his hard work, depriving him of his rightful income: and told him that since he was a Christian, he ought to be cleaning toilets. Such lovely people...*spit!*
The Filipino army should be taking careful note of which crops, on Christian-owned land, are likely to ripen next. Start making a big noise about what a great crop it's going to be, etc etc.
Bait. Trap. Ambush. Showers of blazing hot ammunition. No more jihad.
Who, here, lurking and reading, from the Philippines, will send Rolando Garcia, Mayor of Kalamansig, a letter of condolence (for the sufferings of his constituents), words of encouragement, and a copy of 'The Truth About Muhammad' bookmarked at the account of Mohammed [Ubul Kassim ha-Meshugga]'s out-of-the-blue driven-by-ruthless-greed attack on the peaceful, unarmed Jewish farmers of the Khaybar Oasis? Bookmarked, too, at the account of the Treaty of Hudaybiyya.
Who's in charge of the Filipino army in the South? If he knows English, surely he can be sent a copy of 'Onward Muslim Soldiers' and 'PIG to Islam and the Crusades', bookmarked at portions that may help him know what he is in fact about - defending the non-Muslim Philippines against the amoral and perpetually aggressive, always-hungry-for-more Empire of Islam.

The U.S. military is in the south of the Philippines. They have rewarded millions of dollars for people who could give information, an names were given and arrests were made. The same is going on now again. Since the closer of Clark A.F. Base and Subic Bay the US troops have a low profile.
The US troops have been involved with the terrible things what are happening on the island of Mindanao for a long time. More than 35 years.

INdeed there have been bad things happening in Mindanao, and it has been the Muslims causing it ..geee. Who couldn't figure that one out.
The US troops in Mindanao have been helping the Philippine government combat the Abu Sayyaf terrorist organization for many years. The American effort to fight these terrorist is appreciated and is popular with the Phillipine people. Only the Abu Sayyaf (Mostly Muslim) type terrorist groups have issues with the Americans.
So far, with the help of the Americans , the terrorists have failed in turning MIndanao into another Afghanistan.
THe Non Muslim Phillipine people prefer the Americans over the Muslims. THe Americans have always created jobs, entertainment and opportunity for the Phillipine People, The Muslims have always furnished the hate, violence, misery , and death (the same things Muslims always bring where ever they appear).

MILF, heh heh. I must admit I never thought of the Moro group. This is just too bizarre.
No wonder there is a rice shortage in the Philippines. Those terrorists are stealing it all!
