But wait... Islamic law is supposed to elevate women, and bring law and order to the areas it is imposed on, right? Right?

KANO, Nigeria - The trafficking of teenage girls from poor villages to northern Nigerian cities to work as domestic help for meagre wages is on the rise, officials said at the weekend.
‘The business of recruiting teenagers as domestic help is booming despite our efforts to put a stop to it,’ said Bello Ahmed, head of the Kano office of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons (NAPTIP), in charge of 18 northern and central states.
The girls, usually between the ages of 12 and 17, are paid around 1,500 naira (13 dollars, eight euros) a month, money that they send to their parents, Ahmed told AFP.
However meagre the wage, for the parents it means a little more cash and one mouth fewer to feed.
Ahmed said NAPTIP has succeeded in putting a stop to the practice of ferrying the house girls into the cities in trucks ‘like chickens’.
But if transport methods have improved somewhat, the trafficking continues.
‘In fact it's on the rise. The more the law enforcement agencies perfect strategies to stop it, the more the traffickers find sophisticated ways of running their trade,’ said Mairo Bello, head of Adolescent Health Information Project, a Kano-based NGO.

Some of the teenage workers are raped or beaten by their employers and NAPTIP keeps a dormitory for such girls.
‘We now have two girls in our custody who were raped by their masters, one of them four-month pregnant and another one that had ground chilli pepper poured into her private parts by her mistress for not washing a plate well,’ Ahmed said.
Lack of state-level legislation to prosecute traffickers makes NAPTIP unable to take legal action against them, meaning the best it can do is monitor their activities to keep them in check, according to Ahmed.
The UN-sponsored Child Rights Act provides for five years in jail and a 424-dollar fine on perpetrators of child labour.
The act has been endorsed by the Nigerian federal government but not as yet by the predominantly Muslim northern state legislatures because it contains clauses which many northerners see as going against their religious and cultural values.
‘We are disturbed by this trend of using teenagers as domestic helps which is a form of child labour and we are aware there is a provision in the Child Rights Act that deals with that issue,’ Abdulaziz Garba Gafasa, speaker for the Kano legislature, told AFP.
But he said the legislature would only be able to endorse the act if some clauses are expunged. Failing that, he said Kano plans to introduce measures at the state level to deal with the trafficking issue.

would that be Islamic religious and cultural values? as in slavery, kidnapping, and forcing dhimmitude upon its victims...all are approved of in the Qur'an.
and would the majority of the young girls be Christian, and poor Christians?
an would the rape babies become Muslim because the father was Muslim?
and just how many young girls are never heard from again?.

Any resolutions that the UN passes are not applicable to Muslim or African nations. They are only applicable to Israel.

I see an ongoing competition between Moderate Islam and Santa Claus. The two have been battling to have the people of this world believe they both exist.
So we can take a quick look at what they have in common as well as what they differ on in basic ideology. I work under the assumption here that most of my readers have seen the movie "Miracle on 34th Street" where Santa is in a court room being scrutinized as to his claims of validity. In the end, he is believed and not only retains his status as the Jolly Old Soul, but in his kind spirit of giving, forks over a new house and a ready made family.
Santa NEEDS to be believed in or he cannot survive. Without the faith in his existence he will simply fail to exist and take with him all the goodness he brings with him.
Moderate Islam has a similar battle. They sit in courtrooms, buy media spots, and fight to make a case that they are peaceful and exist simply for the good of all mankind. They take out huge newspaper ads around the country and compare themselves with older indigenous religions. They spend countless millions suing those who disagree with their philosophy and spend more millions generating fairy tales of the goodness of their Koran.
In comparison with Santa however they are not as generous with their finances in helping the entire world. They tend to only help themselves. Santa has no such bias as he flies around the world and gives to every race and creed, except where prohibited by Sharia. And Santa needs only to prove who he is through his own goodness and acts of giving.
We see the group CAIR (is a spin-off of the IAF- Islamic Association For Palestine, said by two former FBI counter-terrorism chiefs to be a U.S. front group for the terrorist group Hamas.) is now pressuring Fox to take off a program they deem unfit. The program 24 is offensive they say as it portrays Muslims as terrorists. Not taking into account that the extreme vast majority of terrorists ARE Muslims.
When we see Dr. Laura getting sued by CAIR because she simply told a teacher to make sure any mosque she took a field trip to had no terror ties, one must decide whether this religion of "no compulsion" is really what it claims to be.
CAIR has also sued Congressman Rep. Cass Ballenger, R-N.C for claiming they were tied to terrorism. I guess it does not matter that 3 ex-CAIR employees have been convicted of terror ties and plots to date, and the fact they originated from the IAF.
It does not seem to matter that this organization has been under scrutiny for funding terror organizations as well as making anti-Semitic statements. Why do they not go to Saudi Arabia or The Sudan and file huge lawsuits against the Muslims committing atrocity? Why are they not in Tehran filing suit against that government who, according to CAIR and other Moderate Muslims have hijacked Islam?
Why are not the officers of CAIR publicly sitting in Jerusalem and giving some of their "charity" money to Israelis who just lost their families to Islamic suicide bombers? Why are they not in Iraq filing a lawsuit against Mus'ab Al-Zarkawi for carrying on what they say here in America is Un-Islamic activity? The same reason any so called Moderate Muslim does not. They all know what is contained in Koran and Hadiths. They all know what is expected of them and they know what is preached from mosques worldwide comes straight from those writings. To protest their own, they would eventually have to admit they serve a violent god and admit the Koran cannot uphold a philosophy of peace with the entire world.
But Santa smiles and rings his bells at shopping malls and desires to bring happiness to children all over the globe regardless of what they believe in as a religion. Just as America just supplied the lions share of aid to millions of Muslims in Indonesia, knowing full well the hatred many have towards us. He just wants to be believed.
And the self proclaiming Moderate Muslims ring bells in Michigan as they pain the ears of non-Muslims with prayer 5 times a day. And the noise they make is not a cry of "Ho Ho Ho," it has become "Sue Sue Sue" They just want to be believed that Islam is a peaceful entity.
But when the rubber meets the road, I personally will believe in Santa before I believe in Peaceful Islam. It makes more sense. Santa doesn't sue to be heard. Santa does not sue if he is not believed in. Santa does not sue if someone calls him Fat. Santa is just good because of his benevolence. I can buy into that.
Because most peaceful people I know would prefer the credo of "Peace on Earth, Good will toward men" before the Islamic credo that seems to cry
"Sharia Law on Earth, Blow to Pieces of Good those who refuse."
