Islamic Tolerance Alert and Siti Fatimah Update: "M'sian muslims protest ruling on renunciation of Islam," from AFP, May 16 (thanks to Twostellas):
PENANG (Malaysia) - A GROUP of Muslims in Malaysia's northern Penang state staged a protest on Friday to denounce an Islamic sharia court's rare ruling allowing a Chinese convert to renounce her faith.Last week the Penang Sharia Court allowed 38-year-old Siti Fatimah Tan Abdullah, or Tan Ean Huang, to renounce Islam and return to Buddhism.
Siti, a cook, told the court she had never practised Islamic teachings since converting in 1998 to marry Iranian Ferdoun Ashanian.
The couple married in 1999 but her husband left her months later and she filed for renunciation two years ago.
Hizbut Tahrir Malaysia, an Islamic hardline group, gathered outside the court and submitted a memorandum urging a judicial review of the decision.
'We outrightly disagree with the court decision as it is against Islamic laws. In Islam, a person who insists on leaving the religion must be punished with death,' the group's president Abdul Hakim Othman told reporters....
I trust Ali Eteraz will soon be winging his way to Malaysia to explain the True, Tolerant Islam to Abdul Hakim Othman.

Why isn't Islam called a dangerous cult? Shunning and not allowing people to leave a religion is clearly cult behaviour.
If Islam is so wonderful why do they have to threaten to kill people for leaving?

I know your asking this rhetorically, but of course there is an answer also.
It's tolerance run amuck. Vacuous tolerance has replaced thoughtfulness and details. The m.o. is to immediately apply "tolerance" to an unknown quantity, sanctimoniously upbraid anyone who doesn't as well, then move on to more interesting things like the latest empty-headed TV show.

i mean when do we get to wake up is this goverment in denmark nuts can they be this stupid or are they trying to make denmark a calphite thousands of muslims there cheering van goughs death called for his and others dead is not hate speech but these cartoons are .
Arrest me if they like we the people in the west need to get rid of everyone in office now this is sick if we need revolt but we must put an end to this i mean there gonna lock this guy up for what exactly while there calling for the death of everyone.

It is cowardice. An unwillingness to confront uncomfortable truths. As long as we are happy with the air that we breathe, we will never remove our heads from our asses, wipe the shite off our faces, and see the truth for what it is.

Islam is like a lobster pot.
It's easy to get in but impossible to get out.
This fact above all else needs to be shouted from the rooftops across the entire Infidel world. Christian, Jewish and other non-Muslim chaplains and psychologists/ counsellors who work in prisons in the West particularly need to be informed of this fact, so that they can warn the vulnerable why it is NOT WISE to listen to Muslim da'wa. Even the most hardened ghetto gangsta might surely think twice if told - if you became a Muslim, and then decided you wanted to leave, THEY WOULD KILL YOU, OR AT LEAST TRY VERY HARD TO DO SO.
Islam is the only modern religion that explicitly prescribes and enforces death for the apostate - and for all critics and questioners, that is, 'blasphemers', as well, be they Muslim or non-Muslim.
IF our politicians and journalists and academics can be forced to wrap their minds around this one simple, amply demonstrable fact; if they can be made to realize it is general, common, standard Islamic practice; that even the most well-educated, 'moderate' Muslim families living IN THE WEST have been known to transform into murderous assassins upon discovering that a family member has converted out to another faith; then we might get people to realize that This Thing Called Islam Is Dangerous.
Let's start pointing out, loud and clear, the unpleasant parallels between mainstream, historic Islam and...the Mafia, or the Thuggees, or the Triads. Not all members of a mafioso crime 'family' do the actual hands-on stuff: the robberies, kidnappings and mutilations, application of threats/ extortion, concrete bootings, briberies and shootouts; one might compare such 'silent participants' to the 'peaceful' Muslims. But everybody in 'the family' is loyal to 'the family'; everybody lives off the payola; everybody admires il capo; and nobody rats, or they die.

I've often wondered what the full story is on Barack Obama's half-sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng. Her Indonesian father (Obama's step father) was Muslim, although there is some disagreement on how fervent he was. In any case, she is now a practicing Buddhist.
I don't know when she stopped practicing Islam--she said the whole family listened to Muslim morning prayers when she was a girl--or whether she would be considered an apostate by most Muslims. In any case, she now lives in Hawaii, where such a background might be considered a bit exotic, but not something that would put your life in danger.
If Ms. Soetoro-Ng had remained in Indonesia--despite frequent assertions that the Indonesian strain of Islam is "moderate"--this might be a very different case.

dumbledoresarmy...For a while I lived next door to a thuggee. An infidel domestic terrorist, who reached for his shot gun at the slightest pretense.
One day push came to shove and he tried to thug me,
nice try, but I out thugged him. He was going to go for his gun, but I told him I would take it away from him and make him eat it. Since he was already behind on points, he reconsidered, and I released my hold on his throat. Later that week he and his 'crack woman' girl friend left town, never to return.
Sometimes you just have to stand up to those thuggee's...
