A couple gazillion people sent me the story yesterday about the Australian council's refusal to allow an Islamic school. I didn't put it up, since council officials insisted that the refusal had nothing to do with resisting Islamic supremacism or preserving Australian culture. "The proposed development was flawed on environmental and planning grounds" -- surmountable problems, no?
But now the Muslims behind the mosque are claiming, predictably enough, that the refusal was motivated by "racism." What race is Islam again?
Both sides are talking past each other. One is talking about planning problems and the other about racism, when the real issue is, What are the intentions of Muslims in Australia regarding the eventual imposition of Sharia? But no one dares talk about that.

SYDNEY (AFP) - An Australian Muslim group charged Wednesday that a Sydney council's refusal to allow an Islamic school to be set up in its area was a "victory for racism".Camden Council, on Sydney's south-western outskirts, unanimously rejected the application for a 1,200-pupil school on Tuesday night, prompting cheers from hundreds of residents who attended the meeting to oppose the plan.
While the council said the decision was based on planning issues, the proposal sparked ugly protests, including two pigs' heads impaled on spikes at the school site last November with an Australian flag draped between them.
Muslim community organisation Forum on Australia's Islamic Relations (FAIR) said it did not accept the council's explanation.
"Planning grounds is only a smokescreen for the real issues which were related to community tensions and potential social upheavals if the school was approved," executive director Kuranda Seyit said.
"I see this as a victory for racism."
Yeah, sure, Seyit. Maybe if you and your coreligionists addressed the question of "potential social upheavals" honestly, you wouldn't encounter so much "racism."

With respect, Robert, I'm not so sure. From the BBC article on the subject, plenty of people were against the Islamic school because it was Islamic and for no other reason. You take your wins where you can find them.

To be fair, 99,99% of Muslims are non-whites. So they're teorically entitled to use the "race card".
Australians should grow some balls and tell them frankly to go build their madrassas elsewhere.

I suggest it was a bit of both.
The town in question is a little country town where there are no Muslims.
The school was to accommodate 1200.
They were going to bus them in from Sydney daily.
This would have caused a lot of local traffic problems.
The local MSM press has painted the protesters as "red-neck racists". Maybe some were, maybe not.
Many wanted to keep the historic character of the town.
The Muslim response was to say words to the effect that now there will likely be more extremism taught in old sheds, behind closed doors etc etc, and that a school would be more accountable to the authorities.

There will be an appeal.
I am pretty sure other religious schools will have something to say, and I guess it will be in support of this school.
There are several muslim schools in Australia and they all receive govt funding as far as I know. So do other religion-based schools.

There were 2900 objections and 100 in favor of the madrassah.
That's a clear case against it.
Why is the the will of the people challenged? Are we no longer living in a democracy?
Will Muhammedanism be imposed on us regardless?

I am glad the Australians are fighting back. It is evident that these madrases are breeding grounds for implementation of sharia and propagation of Islamic hate and violence against infidels in their own land. It is the stealth Jihad.

Great! The Islamic Qur'an says to kill or subjugate everybody not Islamic until "fitna" has passed and the whole world is worshipping Allah. For that reason alone - PROTEST ALL MADRASSAHS IN THE WEST. Bravo Australia!

savsiv - I wrote an e-mail to send to Ms. Seyit at FAIR, concerning my view of an Islamic Madrassa in Sydney. I also asked, "So, what race is Islam?"
Anyway, don't bother to write an e-mail. You get a reply saying she's received "too much spam" and to call her (phone # listed) for a new e-mail address!
Gee, I wonder what type of "spam" she was receiving?!

The whole idea of planning regulations is to prevent citizens being inconvenienced by bizzarre and innappropriate developments in their midst. Schools should be built in the zones where the pupils actually live, not dumped onto some unrelated community. This planning application was a hostile strike against the community of Camden, who are entitled to enjoy their homes in peace and safety. Why the hell should they put up with social upheaval, or the devaluation of their properties?

Why do we even give these people the publicity. So what if it WAS refused because it's Islamic. It should be refused. They are using the race card to promote the ultimate intention of Islamification of the world. History shows us that we cannot live side by side with this religion.
It's about time people stopped pussy footing around them and just said "YES, it was refused because it was Islamic, if you want islam go live in the middle East and stop trying to to turn our countries' into medieval hell holes. Now FUCK OFF."
But of course the bleeding hearts are so quick to show their liberal credentials that we have to sit on our hands while the religion of peace murders its way through our children.

Oh, you are so right. Just because it's Islamic. That's reason enough. Now, get back to the Middle East or Pakistan with your barbarism and get out of our face. Good God, if Martel or Sobieski or Churchill were here we wouldn't be dealing with this Islamic crap.

I wrote to the Sydney Morning Herald outlining the doctrines that, preusmably, a 'Qur'anic Society' school would be teaching -- according to the Qur'an...listing such things as the denial of human rights, the rejection of the dignity and equality of all human beings, the inferior status of women, the threats of death for those wishing to exercise freedom of conscience and leave the 'religion' plus reminding Australians of the contents of Sharia law - the mutilations and stonings of human beings. But the Herald, although publishing several 'anti-Muslim bigots' style letters, hasn't published one sane response as to why Australians might not wish to have such an institution, promulgating such anti-democratic 'values' in this or indeed, any area of its enlightened democratic nation.

I had a peek at that 'FAIR' website, too.
Lots of soft soap.
If you're feeling sick, though, I have the perfect antidote.
A long time ago, someone at this site did a masterly deconstruction of the pretty posters in the 'Discovering Islam' series, which is a favourite at Mosque Open Days (I saw them when I visited such an event).

Camden also has a history of being anti-development in general, and in the past has knocked back proposals from MacDonalds as well as apartment blocks.
So they have a track record in this department, it's just that because muslims have been rejected that it's racism.
Who would have guessed it?

I've just had a very nasty thought.
The article mentioned "ugly protests, including two pigs' heads impaled on spikes at the school site last November with an Australian flag draped between them".
The writer of the article takes it for granted, and everyone else seems to take it for granted, that this was 'Australian "racists"' trying to warn off the Muslims.
But what if it weren't?
IF no-one actually *claimed* the 'pig-heads and flag' protest, if no-one owned up to it, what if the Muslims did it themselves, to make it APPEAR that Australians were behaving like ignorant 'racist' rednecks?
And there's more.
Pig's heads on spikes, with an Australian flag draped between them, can be read two ways.
After all: we kafir are 'sons of pigs and dogs'. Pigs' heads therefore = kafir heads. And since Muslims see the pig as unclean, what better way to desecrate the flag of a contemptible kafir nation?
This looks almost like it might be classic taqiyya. Two entirely different messages.
One, for the Muslims' discreet enjoyment: a subliminal, indeed a ghastly threat to those Aussie pigs, sign of total contempt and prediction of their future fate - two beheaded kafir pigs, with their despised national flag between them.
But the foolish, ignorant kafir journalists, and many others, think - 'oh, nasty Australian racists trying to warn Muslims away with pigs' heads', and overflow with sympathy for the poor, poor, insulted Muslims!
Just a thought.
