Have you ever noticed how many of these things happen in Minneapolis? The Sharia cab controversy, the Target checkout personnel refusing to handle pork, the publicly-funded Islamic school, and now this. The Muslim Brotherhood -- the Muslim American Society -- was behind the cab controversy. Might it be behind these other things as well?
"Muslim workers file complaint with EEOC over firings for refusal to wear uniforms," by Chris Serres for the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, May 27 (thanks to Twostellas):
MINNEAPOLIS - A group of Muslim workers allege they were fired by a New Brighton, Minn., tortilla factory for refusing to wear uniforms that they say were immodest by Islamic standards.Six Somali women claim they were ordered by a manager to wear pants and shirts to work instead of their traditional Islamic clothing of loose-fitting skirts and scarves, according to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a civil liberties group that is representing the women.
The women have filed a religious discrimination complaint with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
''For these women, wearing tight-fitting pants is like being naked,'' said Valerie Shirley, a spokeswoman for the Minnesota chapter of CAIR. ''It's simply not an option.''
CAIR issued a press release calling on Mission Foods to reinstate the women in their jobs. However, the group declined to disclose the names of the women and would not make them available for interviews Tuesday.
Gruma Corporation, the Irving, Texas-based parent company of Mission Foods, released a written statement Tuesday denying that any employees were terminated or disciplined at the New Brighton plant. However, the company made clear the six women have been relieved of their responsibilities for the time being, and may ultimately lose their jobs if they don't wear uniforms.
''Should these employees choose to adhere to the current Mission Foods uniform policy, they may return to their positions with the company,'' the company statement said. ''However, these positions will need to be filled as soon as possible and cannot be held indefinitely.''...
Last year, some Muslim cashiers at Target Corp. were shifted to other positions inside stores after they refused to scan pork products because doing so would violate their religious beliefs. And in 2005, a group of 26 workers were either fired or suspended by an Arden Hills electronics manufacturer for violating the company's prayer rules, which set limits on the times they could break for prayers.
These women could just find jobs that don't require them to violate their standards of modesty. But instead, non-Muslims must adapt and accommodate Muslim demands. It is all part of the stealth jihad.

Right on, Mission Foods! These misdirected, pious zombies should not be allowed to wear their garbage sacks when the job calls for more appropriate apparel for health and safety reasons. Assimilate into civilized society or else!

Keep telling these WITTING UNDERCOVER OPERATIVES to shove their rules where the sun don't shine.

These numbnuts take jobs knowing what the rules are, and then violate the rules and claim religious discrimination. They are doing this to cost the company time and money defending itself against their stupid claims. Maybe it's time to put all rules in writing and make new employees sign the paper and if they violate the rules just fire them for rule violation.
I'm so sick and tired of hearing about some nutjob saying they can't wear a certain type of clothing (mainly for safety reasons) or they can't touch this or that. Those people need to get their heads out of where ever they are stuck and understand that we will not tolerate their cr*p!

"Why does it always have to be Somalis"
Because we stupidly let them in to begin with. BTW, has Algore or any other so-called environmentalist considered what the carbon footprint must be of re-settling thousands from a land with a warm climate, and one with no automobiles and energy intensive appliances, into cold Minnesota where they consume an enormous amount of energy for heating and driving?

These people are pathetic. Using anything they can to force through their own laws and rules, Sharia.
Someone should do what the Ozzies did and stick two pigs heads on spikes draped in the stars and stripes outside the factory!!

Nothing in the Qur'an about pants being immodest. Sorry. Nice try, but a company is a voluntary association on your part. The Supreme Court will rule in Mission Foods favor.
Tortillas, anyone?

Yep, these people picked the wrong venue to complain. They will quickly find out that business is private here. The business can often make up the rules.
I love it myself. The more Sharia shows up the more we find that it's incompatable with the west's notion of private enterprise. These folks don't understand the division between private enterprise and government. Since there is no division in their home countries.
As we continue towards socialism we see more our society will reflect theirs.

Who cares? We don't care! Go back to your own original Islamic countries, then, if you're uncomfortable here and all you have, as I've said before, are complaints.
Goodbye! Good Riddance! Enjoy yourselves back in your primitive Crapistans!

If they want to wear dangerous outfits on the job, make them sign a release form not to sue the employer in the event of any injuries that their "unregulation" clothes might entail, then place them on jobs that will inevitably drag their costumes into machinery, and, at the very least, scare them enough to quit.
They want to cause trouble, let them reap the results.
But the government safety controllers would never allow this, so they need to be kept out of the workforce if they cannot adapt to reasonable standards.

IT IS NOT MODESTY!!!! Let's take a look at the definition of the word MODEST. With apologies to those from across the pond, I am taking this from the American Heritage College Dictionary: "Modest, adj., 1. Having or showing a moderate estimation of one's talents, abilities, and value. 2. Having or proceeding from a disinclination to call attention to oneself; retiring or diffident. 3. Observing conventional proprieties in speech, behavior or dress."
Now folks it seems these women have more than a moderate estimation of their value at Mission Foods. So much so that they should be exempt from a uniform all other line workers wear!
They don't mind calling attention to themselves among the infidels. Seems like they could hardly be called "diffident" toward the norms in their adopted country or the norms among their co-workers and employers.
They do not want to observe OUR CONVENTIONS merely those of the 7th century conquerers of Somalia i.e., Arab Muslim supremicists. Hardly moderate, shy, modest guys!
In truth I find many of my fellow Christians confuse Islamic womens dress as a form of "modesty" and, as I have commented before on this site, some of my fellow traditional Catholics find it refreshing contrasted with the Hollyweird Slut Look so fashionable today. These Christians are in ignorance of the ideology underlying Islamic dress, abayas, hijabs, burquas, etc. It is a FUNDAMENTAL difference in how women are viewed, their worth, their supposed alluring danger to men's souls. It goes to the very notion of woman being created as ontologically - well if not INFERIOR -- then certainly more likely to drive one to sin and perdition. IT IS NOT MODESTY that covers them from head to toe. It is an irrational fear, loathing, disdain, confusion about the very existence of God's creation: WOMAN.

Anybody know the demographics in Minneapolis?
There's plenty of evidence out there for what is likely to happen as a rising percentage of the population is mohammedan.
Of course, the results may be different for regional and local rather than national populations.
But it is worth looking at anyway.
Someone's got to start tracking the relation between the incidents of friction between the mohammedan population and their neighbors, and their percentage of the total population by city and state.
Shouldnt be too hard if you have the numbers and a reasonably objective set of criteria for identifying friction, and presumably a lexis account or the like.

joeblough,
FYI, I have seen written, in more than one place, that the "tipping point" for when a free society has absorbed too many muslims is 10%. That is, when muslims constitute roughly 10% of the host population, then you will observe a marked rise in, as you put it, "friction between the mohammedan population and their neighbors".
Shame on our government for ignoring the 1400 year history of Islamic hostility towards all things non muslim.
Double shame on our governments for not at least taking heed from current events (Londonistan).
I am guessing that Dearbornistan is probably getting dangerously close to this 10% point of no return, as well as, perhaps, parts of Minnesotastan

I remember many times (when I lived in Minneapolis) waiting for the red light to change near I394. At that particular intersection was a bus stop that always had six or seven Somali women all bundled up (summer or winter) waiting for the next bus.
Of course, I observed these women, their mannerisms, their clothing, etc.
One thing that always struck me as I looked was their gaze back at me. I could never tell if it was defiance or hatred, but I knew instinctively that it was completely negative.
Now I know (have known for years) that it was a combination of both.
I'm happy to say that I moved away years ago, but I'll never forget those Somali women waiting at that bus stop.

Minnesota has by far the largest population of Somalis in the US, thanks to the tireless efforts of the Lutheran Church. Of all of the immigrant groups in the area they are by FAR the worst - in almost every respect. I've come across immigrants from all over Africa, and the vast majority are wonderful people who are good neighbors, hard workers, appreciative, tolerant, intelligent. The Somali immigrants couldn't be more different.
Somalis, as a group, are militantly anti-American and radically Islamist. They set themselves apart and above the rest of society. They have a boundless sense of entitlement. They are eager foot soldiers in the global Islamist conspiracy to undermine the West and it's institutions.

There is a silver lining to these lawsuits and news reports that follow. People are getting fed up with the special demands these muslims make while hiding behind claims of religious freedom.

I stop listening to claims of Muslim "modesty" when I saw veiled and hijab wearing women celebrating suicide bomb attacks.Islam is all about showy displays and no substance,as if the wearing of a hijab makes up for a lack of real morals and common decency. There are transvestites and prostitutes who carry themselves with more "modesty" them some of those wearing hijabs.
Contrast Muslims with the Amish, a group that also dresses in a manner different from mainstream society.I've never heard of a group of Amish women suing to wear clothing from the 1800s on a job.Or demanding to make pizza deliveries in a horse and buggy. In fact the Amish provide for the themselves in their communities and have a reputation as skilled carpenters and home builders. They are in fact in demand for their construction skills. What skills are Muslims known for and how many employers really want to hire them?

''For these women, wearing tight-fitting pants is like being naked,'' said Valerie Shirley, a spokeswoman for the Minnesota chapter of CAIR. ''It's simply not an option.''
Who says the pants have to be tight-fitting? Perhaps these women are all on the chunky side and are in denial, thinking that they SHOULD be able to fit into an 8 when they're actually 16s. Yeah, pants that are too small for you do tend to be tight-fitting. Wear clothes in your size, problem solved.
This is so obviously another stunt. All these women knew when they were hired what the dress code was. When you accept a job, you agree to abide by the terms. If you don't like the terms, you don't take the job. I didn't apply for a job at a particular restaurant when I was a student because the waitresses all had to dress like Bavarian bar wenches with short, poufy little dirdl skirts and low-cut blouses. I thought this would be too undignified for me, so I applied, and got a job, elsewhere. I did not get myself hired then try to make a federal case of the dress code. I had better things to do with my time, like get an education and make a living.
Frankly I am sick unto death of hearing about cases like these. I have the very politically-incorrect desire to make these women, and all such whiners, male or female, work naked for a day. Then they would appreciate the difference between that and wearing the kaffir costume of a sensible shirt and slacks, and it wouldn't seem quite so bad anymore.

The contrast is an interesting one. The Amish are also a peaceful, law-abiding people. They have no interest in taking over or conquering anything or anyone, or of making non-Amish adapt to their ways. They have a completely different mindset from the typical Muslim culture, which, unlike the Amish and other peaceful separatist groups, wants it both ways. It is no contradiction to a Muslim to take blatant advantage of all the luxuries and benefits modern Western society has to offer. They see all this as the spoils of war, their due as the conquering army. They have no interest in being self-sufficient and self-sustaining; they overrun and take whatever they can use from other cultures, while building, inventing, and developing nothing useful of their own: kinda like the infamous Borg of Star Trek: The Next Generation. That is what they take pride in. So they get jobs in kaffir factories and demand the right to dress the way they want, stop working to pray five times a day, take a day off on Muslim holidays, not allow other non-Muslim workers to eat or drink on site during Ramadan because it's "insensitive", etc...but don't bother to build factories of their own. Why bother, when they can just take over ones that are already there? And when they're totally in control, they will always have slaves to do the hard work.

The Amish are peaceful law-abiding, hard working citizens who function in their own communities and don't demand that everyone else live like it was still 1880 just because they choose to live that way.I attended a college in Amish country and the only accommodation we had to make for them was sharing the rodes with their horse drawn carriages. Otherwise they kept to themselves. I'd be shocked if the Amish were even 1% of the prison population. As the worse thing I ever read about them was a concern that some Amish youth were getting involved with alcohol and subsequently getting in horse and buggy crashes. No involvement in crime, terrorism or complaints about "Amishphobia". They live quietly and contribute to society rather then being a burden.
In contrast some Muslim wants to live like its the 7th century and insist that the rest of us live that way as well. They also become a burden to their employers and the government and judicial system. In reality, if Muslim "modesty" was really so important they'd set up their own communities with their own businesses where "modest" Muslim women could be employed. Just as immigrants have before (eg Irish, Italian, Jewish, Chinese ect) rather then burdening the infidel businessman and taxpayers with their ridiculous demands. That's why people are fed up. BTW- People should check out the comments at the Trib, last time I looked there were over 550 comments running overwhelming against the Muslims. People are disgusted and tearing into CAIR and these ungrateful immigrants.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they win the case. Like in health care dress codes in the food industry to a major extent about hygiene and safety not only about uniform the staff. Should idiot religious dress codes set the hygiene and safety standard in a modern society? Shouldn’t be surprised if the multicultural religious respect idiots think so.
It's understandably if the company didn’t explicitly informed the people they wanted to employ about dress code, until the Muslims come around it have been naturally for everyone that one have to follow a employers dress code, hygiene and safety standards.
I’ll guess they have to where some standard outfits with ordinary lose white pants and a shirt of some sort, hardly even close to aerobic tights.
at May 29, 2008 3:59 AM
The muslims get the signal out loud and clear, any company should go to any length to avoid employing muslims if they want to stay out of these kind of troubles.
Anyhow I am pretty sure if letting these folks work in burkas, lose fitting robes or what ever would go against OSHA regulations for hygiene and not mention safety when working with different kind of machines where they can get caught by moving parts. Such an accident could cost the company plenty.

"But I think they secretly want to live in a trash heap country and they are doing their part to bring that about here."
You could be right. I often think (because I've seen it with my own eyes) that immigrants who come from extreme poverty tend to only know that way to live. America is such a beautiful country with so many creature comforts to offer. Even people who are low income can live in a decent manner if they want to. But out here where I live there are tons of illegal aliens--most Mexican--and they live here like they are still in the slums of Tijuana. Everything they touch turns to shit, it's a fact. They make NO effort at all. It's like they escaped the slum only to build a new one here. Immigrants/aliens who live this way--whether they are here legally or illegally--are bringing ruin to our country and alienating themselves from other Americans in the process, because Americans don't want to be around people who live that way. They are choosing to live here as marginalized people and yet they blame America!

Muslims really seem to have a pathological fear and loathing of the human body, particularly the female, probably the reason why they have contributed virtually nothing to the field of medicine. And yes, to call the need to cover the arms and legs "modesty" offends me. Does that make me "immodest" for wearing a knee-length skirt and a short-sleeved blouse? By extension, then, then must see most if not infidel women as immodest sluts. Think about what that says about their attitudes toward their co-workers. Why would they want to work side by side with people they have such contempt for? Has the dhimmi lawyer arguing that these women feel "naked" when they dress like infidels not thought about the ramifications of these words?
