“I am in favour of his death”

Sharia Alert: “Afghanistan: Death penalty call for man who spread Koran translation,” by Syed Saleem Shahzad in AKI, June 23:

Islam of course carries the death penalty for any number of “transgressions,” but one wonders if Muslims ever ask themselves why it is that so many would-be reformers and organizations are bent on “reinterpreting” their Koran? Is it simply because they, as this article states, are trying to turn Muslims into “Christians and atheists”? If so, why isn’t there a Western campaign trying to reinterpret the scriptures of Hindus and Buddhists, to turn them into Christians or atheists as well? In fact, the vast majority of non-Muslims could care less whether Muslims perform their “five” pillars; it’s the animosity, hatred, and violence towards those who don’t want to perform them—i.e., non-Muslims—not to mention those misogynistic “tendencies” that are behind the international desire to reinterpret the Koran. Go figure.

Karachi, 23 June (AKI) -- An Afghan journalist accused of distributing an unacceptable translation of the Koran should be put to death, says former Prime Minister Ahmad Shah Ahmadzai. Former journalist Ghows Zalmay, who was also the spokesman for Afghanistan's Attorney-General, was arrested in November last year for distributing a translation of the Koran into Dari, one of Afghanistan's two official languages. Ahmadzai, who ran in the 2004 presidential election against current President Hamid Karzai, told Adnkronos International (AKI) he supported the death penalty for Zalmay. "Today Afghanistan is full of vices. Several Afghan restaurants serve liquor, despite it being illegal and on top of it, such material is distributed," Ahmadzai told AKI. "I am in favour of his death."

If this eager-to-slay-a-“blasphemer” Ahmadzai was a contender for the Afghan presidency—after the overthrow of the Taliban—and its current Prime Minister, one wonders what the “average” man on the Afghan street thinks. Incidentally, this same Ahmadzai fled Afghanistan when the Taliban came to power and is prime minister now thanks only to Americans (“infidels”).

Muslim scholars in Afghanistan reportedly said that the new version of the Koran misinterpreted verses about alcohol, begging, homosexuality and adultery […]

In other words, it did not portray them as capital offenses worthy of draconian punishments? Actually, there is room for interpretation in the Koran regarding these topics: there’s a verse which speaks well of wine (now “abrogated”); many Koranic interpreters have taken the beautiful “serving” boys in paradise as representative of homosexuality; polygamy or sex with conquered concubines can actually be deemed “adulterous.”

Ghows, 50, is reportedy in jail after being accused of blasphemy and his lawyers say he risks the death penalty. He is expected to face charges in an Afghan court within the next week. "This is all an American conspiracy to deviate Afghans from their faith," said Al-Hajj Farooq Hussaini, […]

“American” only? Why so modest? What about the Jews, Christians, the papacy, apostates, secularists, puppets, cartoonists, et al, who are also on the litany list of “conspirators” against Islam??

"They want us to be converted Christians or simply atheists […]

Not so: we merely want you to grant people the freedom—the right—to be “Christians or simply atheists.”

Hussaini also referred to the case of Abdul Rahman, an Afghan Christian convert who was granted asylum in Italy in 2006. Rahman escaped a possible death sentence in Afghanistan for becoming a Christian. "Earlier they protected Abdul Rahman who left Islam and converted to Christianity and now they are encouraging the distribution of the fake translations of Koran," said Hussaini who is also the leader of a group led by Ismail Khan, Afghanistan's Energy Minister.

In the mind of Afghan’s Energy Minister (technically, a “friend,” and no doubt benefactor of the US) converting to Christianity is as bad a crime as intentionally distorting and adulterating his god’s words—the greatest crime. Why again did we overthrow the Taliban?

"Ghows Zalmay should be given an exemplary punishment for his crime," he said.

Death.

"Many Muslim bloggers have labelled some new translations of the Koran, as the "American Koran", which they say is unauthentic and aimed at distracting Muslims from their faith."
As reported from the AKI article. I say- Distract Away--Re-Interpret it until this "holy book" is nothing more than a cartoon!!!!

Baha'i is at its core an attempt to reform Islam, and of course Muslims murdered the Baha'i prophet. To a lesser extent, Ahmadism is also a reform, but they continue to call themselves Muslims, and of course, Muslims try to ban or make it officially illegal, by calling them apostates. There will never be reform of Islam, only a total transformation, such as Baha'i, or total collapse.

Islam is so perverse.

"we merely want you to grant people the freedom—the right—to be 'Christians or simply atheists.'"

Indeed Robert. That is what all of this is about. If people want to leave Islam, they should be free to do so. If people want to leave Christianity (even though I think it true) they should be able to leave.

The fact that most Muslims support anti-apostasy laws and many Muslims support the murder of apostates, means that Islam is a toxic religion. Religions that must bully people to stay must not be very good or true religions. Some might even say, they are a cult.

The never-ending follies of Mohammadism reduce me to definition curses.

Zalmay must've "misunderstood" Islam! And then gotten other "misunderstanders" of Islam mad too (at him evidently).

Muslims are always happiest when they are picking up a weapon and sticking it into another human body thus killing it. Who needs a reason to justify killing when they've got the Kuran telling them to kill, kill, kill (which they do at the drop of a hat or whatever).

That's the REAL Islam. Killer-zombies on parade!

I'm channeling a moderate Muslim activist:
You are a dirty kaffir for linking Islam to death sentences for criticizing Islam or even re-interpreting Islam. That is tantamount to oppression on a Nazi level. Even though it's all true, you have no right to tell people about it. cause Islam is all about tolerance and peace and we'll cut your head off if you disagree with that too much, d'himmi!

Islam is the only "religion" that will kill you for making its texts readable to Non sect people.

Islam will kill its own members for not praying hard enough.

Islam will kill its own member for praying too hard.

Islam will kill its own members who decide it is not for them and want to try something better.

Islam will kill its own members who may want to practice Islam a little differently than his neighbor.

Islam will kill those member who "expose the secrets of Islam."

Islam will kill its own members dare dress like the other people in the world.

Islam will kill its own members for listening to music.

Islam will kill its own members who want to be barbers trimming beards and telling jokes with their customers.

Islam will kill its own members who cannot recite from memory the texts of its "holy books".

Islam will sell its own children to other members for property, cash, or for marriage.

Islam will kill its own members for critizing the policies of the madmen clerics.

Islam will kill its own members for refusing to kill others.

what does Islam have to offer besides death?

...hmmmmm. more death?

Ban Muslim Immigration.

" . . . polygamy or sex with conquered concubines can actually be deemed “adulterous.'"

I refuse to use Muslim terminology for this horror they call sacred. These women are not "concubines," as in some fevered Arabian Nights fantasy. They are slaves, held prisoner after their husbands, and fathers, and families were butchered.

Similarly, it is not "sex." It is not "adultery." It is violent rape.

Actually, I wonder if most Europeans even care. At dinner, with a young Irish woman, I broached the subject and she felt it should have been ratified, because the EU was such a good thing for Ireland. Maybe there are more who feel that way than don't. And Pulsar192: Brilliant description of the religion of piece. You ought to go and see what one Christian Arab did to the New Testament. He rendered it into very Classical Arabic and wrote it into Sirat, like the Koran. He called it Al Furqan al Haqq, which means the True Criterion, and it is literally all the "rage" in Dar ul Islam. It really angers the peaceful sons of Allah when they find out you have one!

One young woman doth not a very persuasive poll make. Fact is, Ireland rejected the Lisbon Treaty in a referendum in spite of enormous pressure put on them to vote the "right" way.

I bet this excitable young woman would also be glad to see HUSSEIN Obama voted into the White House.

The young are easily misled.

They are bursting with idealism which is easily misdirected.

There are too many historic precedents which prove that.

We might have to consider moving the voting age back up to 21. If we don"t let 'em drink at 18 who can say they're ready to vote?

A lot of these fools that are now 18 and for Obama will have the Big Awakening by the time they're 21.

"This is all an American conspiracy to deviate Afghans from their faith," said Al-Hajj Farooq Hussaini, […]

Conspiracy? It shouldn't be a conspiracy, but clearly delineated, widely promulgated, and rigidly enforced policy. And it should start with the removal of any reference of the Koran or Sharia from their constitution.

Oh, but I guess that would mean we'd have to really believe in our own system of governance.
