Muslim woman in full hijab participating in go-cart race “insults” Islam

"TV show contestant ‘shamed herself and insulted Muslims," from The Times, June 29:

A muslim woman has been accused of shaming herself and insulting her religion by taking part in a reality TV motor-racing show.

Durban beauty therapist Nadira Dasoo has come under fire from a Gauteng Muslim organisation, Know Islam, believed to be behind an e-mail lambasting her for being a contestant in the Ultimate Grand Prix Drive, screened on SABC3 on Sunday nights.

Show contestants race in go-karts and cars and must perform various tasks.

Dasoo, a 29-year-old mother of two who maintained her religious dress code throughout the contest, was eliminated from the show last week.

The e-mail said : “This Muslim sister of ours has made a mistake and we are here to remind her of the wrong she did.

Take heed, Nadira; the next “reminder” may well consist of hurled stones.

“In your headscarf you participated in a kaafir (non-Muslim) male-dominated show, bringing shame to yourself and insulting Muslims throughout the world.

“You allowed your body to be touched by a kaafir in a manner which will create excitement in any man ... you seemed to be enjoying this.

“It was called ‘exercise’ and ‘training’, while this kaafir carried you up and down the stairs. What a travesty indeed!”

It went on to say that the majority of Muslim scholars and jurists had determined the minimum requirements for Muslim women’s dress, including:
* That clothing must cover the entire body, with the exception of the face and hands; and
* That the clothing should not be form-fitting, sheer or eye-catching as to attract undue attention or reveal the shape of the body.

Dasoo agrees she has “done wrong as a Muslim girl”.

“But when I was approached with the competition, I saw it as an opportunity, because this is something that I actually enjoy, Formula 1 racing, and I had the support of my husband.

Guess who also just got in trouble?...

“I took this opportunity, but I do realise I have done wrong as a Muslim woman,” she said. […]

Women’s rights activist Shabnam Mohamed said: “I don’t think that certain aspects of the show can be justified according to Islamic principles. I think being carried by a man is deemed inappropriate. I do, however, think that there was a more sensitive way of managing the concerns expressed in this e-mail.

Mind you, this is coming from a “women’s right’s activist.” Oh wait, her name is “Mohamed.” Confusion solved.

You know, why do we get accuse of making fun of Islam? You just can't make this stuff up.

If Muslims are willing to be critical of this Muslima slave, why are we accused of "Islamophobia" or "racism" when we question the precepts of Islam?

Oh, I forgot - we're dirty kaffirs and should know our place.

Carrying a woman up and down stairs as an exercise task does not excite every man.

A Muslim man it may, as he has never touched a non-relative female in his life and is raised to view a woman as a sex object and a reproductive unit.

Why are muslims being approached to be on TV shows?
To fulfill a larger agenda?
Irresponsible and as unfair as the staged bigotry stings the do to show the unfair treatments muslims get.

the bottom line is ...hate for the infidel, you must not talk to them, you must not be their friends, you must not associate with them, you must not participate in activity with them. after all they are pigs and apes...

Islam is all about hate..

Ignoring that there is no fun in Islam, and therefore Ms. Dasoo should not be enjoying anything, much less jahiliyyan-style racing, next time the kafir "Ultimate Grand Prix Drive" show should not take the chance of insulting the Ummah.

The next Muslimah's partner should instead be allowed to carry a Hefty bag filled with 150 pounds of shit.

I've seen Muslim contestants on four reality TV shows: The Amazing Race, Top Chef (Chicago), Survivor and Big Brother. The Muslims in The Amazing Race, appeared in traditional garb refused to shake the hands of female contestants and were thankfully the first team eliminated. The female Muslim Chef did not wear the hijab but was also anti-social and was the first chef eliminated. In Survivor the Muslim contestant was part of the only tribe to be totally wiped out in the history of the show. He lasted a while on the show and other then praying did not wear his religion on his sleeve. The contestant on Big Brother was one of the series most popular because he mixed easily with alcohol drinking males, bikini clad females and gay contestants. When are Muslims going to learn that people really don't care for there phony claims of superior modesty and morality?

"Take heed, Nadira; the next 'reminder' may well consist of hurled stones."

More likely 123 grains of LEAD, caliber 7.62x39mm, at about 2,300 feet per second.

With Moslem feminists like Shabnam Mohamed, who needs feminists?

Ok , Muslim lady who is into F1 goes on a game show ..isnt that sort of good? Isnt that a sign that she is Westernised ( at least in the SA circumstance), that her clothes are just some relic of a culture hse is leaving behind? And silly reactionary emails are merely that a final gasp of a failing religious ideology? Same with the lollypop pictures from Egypt...that in a Islamic country you need reminders to be modest surely is a sign of the changing times. That in Cairo , headgear is a option not a necessity. And whats more the ad showing the flies on the lollypop , is hardly intimidity ..in fact it simply states to avoid unwanted attention ...cover up , surely commonsense in any society.

Yes there is FGM , it is barbaric , but it is hardly defended anymore except by sideliners and is criminal in all the West. Perhaps we should look at circumcision! Honour killings in the West are also rare and univerisally condemned ..even by the immigrant communities themselves. Polygamy is also relatively rare , and is shouted down when mentioned by Islamic side ( as is the case in Australia) especially by the women from the Islamic side! And think about it , slavery which is intrinsic in the Koran , no longer exists ( except in a handful of cases) in the Islamic world because of the acceptance of liberal enlightened standards from the West.

Face it , what we see in the pages of Jihad watch are the reactions of the stakeholders in Islam to the inevitable Westernisation of the Islamic world. And seen that light we understand that these 'reactions' are the vanguard of a resurgent Islam but its last gasp.

The only thing we have to on guard about is that our own cultural guardians ( like Arch Bishop of Canterbury ), media , Governments etc dont react supinely to the Islamic 'reaction' so's to speak. That Islamic communities in the West are shedding Islam in all but name and the shrill sounds from "Islamic" leadership and their reactionary strident demands show that much damage has been wrought. yes there will be the Islamic equivalent of 'Nazi boot boys' kicking in shop fronts and victimising innocent non muslims ..but rule of law will evenually deal with them as any hoodlums or gangs! As will corrective social reform that addresses economic depression of migrant communites which will also help overcome the sometimes violent reactions made by such communities when they percieve themselves as outsiders.

What we shouldnt do is forever 'live' the Islamic texts , ancient history and conspiracy manifestos ...all the while ignoring the reality of living and breathing in our own changing diverse cosmopolitian communities. Its is easy to cite a 'sura' , a bit more difficult to take a train journey to SEE , HEAR and gain some tactile experience what is going on in the suburbs of the West.

slight error from above , it should read:

"are NOT the vanguard of a resurgent Islam but its last gasp."

Crisp, and devoid of needless rhetorical questions. For those who have any sympathies for Mohammedan women, it's worth noting that 'Mohammedan' here is a noun, not an adjective, and 'women', or rather 'female' would be the adjective to describe such Mohammedans.

But I agree with your opening sentiments - no comments.

South Africa has a law against calling anyone a kaafir. The Gauteng Islamic organisation - KNOW ISLAM - should be charged and summoned to court for using racist insults.

As I pointed out over on the sheik's site, re: 'burkhinis',

"These hibikinis look colorful, fun, and really cool. Isn’t that going to upset the Fast Jihadis? Plus the girls are smiling, laughing and having fun. I’m sure there will be a fatwa, as we all know ‘there is no fun in Islam’."
