Italy: dhimmi cardinal condemns any talk of defending Christianity against Islam

Might hurt Muslim feelings. "Cardinal criticises Euro MP over anti-Islam stand," from EUbusiness, August, 9:

(ROME) - Italy's top prelate Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco has denounced a Euro MP in the anti-immigration Northern League for his anti-Islamic views, press reports said Saturday.

The Bishop of Genoa and president of the Italian episcopal conference voiced his "total disapproval" of Euro MP Mario Borghezio's vow to "defend Christianity against profanation by Islam" made in a church in the northern port on Friday.

The Euro deputy made his call at a rally of League members to protest against a city council plans to hold interfaith prayers in the church, a former hospital of the Knights of Malta in the 13th century.

Accompanied by dozens of people waving the League's flag, Borghezio gained entry to the building by waving his Euro deputy's card. He then swore to "continue the fight of the Knights of the Order of Malta to defend Christianity."

Cardinal Bagnasco condemned Borghezio for making his statement in a church, which he said was "solely a place for prayer and worship," the Corriere della Sera said.

The Northern League scored an unexpected success in general elections in April, taking eight percent of the votes and securing four ministerial posts in the right-wing government of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

Islamic prayers, by their nature, do not belong in a Christian church, as they are supremacist and supercessionist; in Islam, as we have seen, assertion of political dominance arises from this sorry truth.

Kum ba yah, my lord, Kum ba yah! (x3)

Someone's beheading, Lord, Kum ba yah!
Someone's dismembering, Lord, Kum ba yah!
Someone's desecrating, Lord, Kum ba yah!
O Lord, Kum ba yah.

Someone's raiding, Lord, Kum ba yah!
Someone's defiling, Lord, Kum ba yah!
Someone's enslaving, Lord, Kum ba yah!
O Lord, Kum ba yah.

Someone's slaying, Lord, Kum ba yah!
Someone's stoning, Lord, Kum ba yah!
Someone's an inane lamebrain, Lord, Kum ba yah!
O Lord, Kum ba yah.

Then Mario Borghezio has a firmer grasp of Christian doctrine and theology that Italy's top prelate Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco. Good for Mario Borghezio and shame on the Cardinal.

Yes indeed. Drive the ishmaelites back into the desert, Kum ba yah, take Italy's top prelate Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, Kum ba yah.

I think the point is "in a church".

I think the Cardinal is concerned about the persecuted Christians who will be subjected to reprisals. I don't think he's saying Catholics cannot do this, just not in a Church as this give those savages the excuse to murder, kidnap, rape, and attack Christians living in persecution under Islamic control.

He wants the Church to seem separate from this, and allow the Vatican to proceed in the manner it seems best to both protect the persecuted Christians as much as possible, and speak on their behalf.

It's a fine line Rome has to tread. People died when Pope Benedict made his Regensberg address in a private University setting, remember.

The Catholic priesthood is infested with all sorts of radicals, degenerates and men who just want to destroy the church from the inside. This Cardinal Bagnasco is one the later IMO, the Anglican/Druid/Atheist Rowan another one. A lot of them came in during prior and during the Vatican II years.

The thing is, this sort of behavior cannot be attributed to "can't we all just get along" and general ignorance. It is my belief that this sort of kowtowing to Muslims to the point one debases Christianity by those in the Christian leadership and teaching positions is to purposely undermine Christianity.

But there is also the possibility that these so-called leaders and teachers are just morons who got lucky.

FINALLY! A sign of life.

And what goes on in mosques? Hmmmmmm?

There is no end to this. There is no end to the unbearable naivity of churchleaders and politicians who somehow, (how?) insist that we 'must live together', at any cost. It is revolting.

I had this discussion with a local politician the other night who sputtered and weaseled when I took her on over the Jews who tried to get along with the Nazis. Remember? It wasn't that long ago? As always, when it comes to these things, it was me who was quickly outed as the 'extremist' -radical- the 'far right' and before long the wife of the host censored me, rather rudely.

shiek, were you at a dinner party? What exactly did the wife say that rudely censored you? How did you respond?

Even though Mario Borghezio may be right I firmly believe that there should be NO political discussion within the church.

If they want to hold political discussion in the church hall that is fine, but inside the church you have a captive audience. No one will walk out during a service, they'd be embarrassed to.

The church is strictly for praying the GOD. Otherwise it'll just turn into a mosque.

I even believe they should not display the flag by the alter. GOD is supreme above all and therefore favors no one nation (Israel may find fault with that statement).

Deeply unsettling. This is the sickest part:

"Cardinal Bagnasco condemned Borghezio for making his statement in a church, which he said was "solely a place for prayer and worship," the Corriere della Sera said."

Posted by: Madame Vengier [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 10, 2008 12:53 PM

Madame Vengier don't you get it? Read what the cardinal said -> "Cardinal Bagnasco condemned Borghezio for making his statement in a church, which he said was "solely a place for prayer and worship," the Corriere della Sera said."

...for making his statement in a church...

That's the point. Once you let in one political discussion you'll open Pandoras box for all other ones. Then there will be ones you don't agree with. And then there will be shouting matches in church. People will quit going because they don't want to hear someone elses pablum puke.

Do go to the logic of ...well they do that in the mosques. Why follow stupid people.

My final statement... KEEP THE SANCTUARY SACRED!
