And lastly, a uniform is a uniform. Making exceptions -- especially glaringly conspicuous ones -- defeats the purpose of having one.
"Court to hear arguments over Muslim cop's scarf," from the Associated Press, September 8:
PHILADELPHIA - Lawyers for a Philadelphia police officer who wants to wear a Muslim head scarf on the job are taking their case before a federal appeals court panel.
Forty-four-year-old Kimberlie Webb has been on the force more than 10 years. A federal judge ruled in June 2007 that the police department did not discriminate against Webb when it forbade her from wearing the head scarf at work.
Webb has appealed to the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Her lawyers are going before a three-judge panel on Tuesday.
The scarf would cover Webb's hair, forehead, neck, shoulders and chest. The city says it violates uniform regulations.

So religious that she MUST wear the headscarf, but not so religious that she stays home, as her religion demands. And that she may touch a man if she needs to arrest him which is against islam.
And if someone grabs her veil and uses it to strangle her?
Death by a thousand cuts. A little here and a little there, not enough to kill the victim, just enough to weaken them and weaken them some more until they will give in to anything to make you stop. That's islam.

given that cops are here to protect the innocent and muslims only consider those who have embraced islam to be innocent so who is this muslim cop aresting ? and how does she do her job when she cant touch any male but her relatives? so this veil stuff is just bs unless she is not doing her job properly

Its interesting how CAIR defends Ms. Webb's right to wear her hijab to work and yet makes no bones about spreading Islam throughout the U.S. and the entire globe so that we can all live under a Caliphate and Ms. Webb can then be slammed back into her house, never to appear again in public unless some male relative says she may.

So what has she been doing for the last 10 years? Is she a new convert? Or did she suddenly become more dedicated (read: extreme)?
If she has been a Moslem for the past 10 years and suddenly is needing to wear a veil, it would make me concerned about what other changes in her worldview and ideology might stand in the way of her performance as a police officer.
Imagine if she were a Christian and suddenly demanded she be allowed to wear a nun's habit or a huge, conspicuous cross around her neck. She would be laughed out of her job!
Only a Moslem could make such a demand and expect to be taken seriously.

One wonders what's the real game here. Does Ms. Webb wish a transfer from street work to office work, but could not get one through usual channels? Because a "reasonable accomodation" would allow Ms. Webb to bag her head in submission, but only in a job where her physical safety (and that of the people she is theoretically sworn to protect) is not compromised by the built-in pious-Muslimah choke collar.
A job like, oh, pushing papers. So pleasant with a halal cappucino during those cold Philly winters. And the photo opportunities, for the mosque outreach nights!

At first I thought what a waste of time and taxpayer $ to drag this stupid crap through court; but then, if she loses, which she probably will(the uniforms are designed for safety of the officer AND the public), her case would set a precedent for other ridiculous cases like hers, and maybe save us time, money, and country in the long run.

This woman's name sounds western, so my guess is that she is a convert. I seriously question the sanity of anyone--especially a woman--who would convert to islam anyway. Of course, if she were to move to a country ruled by sharia, she likely would be singing a different song. Oh, I forgot; moslems don't believe in music since it leads to total depravity. Disregard that thought!
If this wretch were wearing a veil and pulled me over for, say, speeding, my first inclintion would be to say to her, "You gotta be s---ing me! And then, of course, I would most likely go to jail for smarting off to a copy.

44 years she's been a police officer...well she has no excuse for not knowing the rules when she converted to islam...even if she didn't convert, she knew the rules....ONE RULE FOR ALL. Religion has no place in the work force...especially since police are part of the city and state...religion is seperate, right? Guaranteed by the constitution. Write letters.
