This appears to be part of an effort to force the store to stop carrying alcohol altogether -- which illustrates the supremacist element in Muslim demands for accommodation. Muhammad laid curses not only upon those who drank alcohol, but those who distributed it and transported it also; however, only recently have Muslims in the West begun insisting upon observance of these restrictions.
"Muslim sues Tesco for 'making him carry beer,'' by Joel Taylor for Metro.co.uk, September 28 (thanks to Twostellas):
A Muslim worker is suing Tesco for discrimination after being asked to transport beer on his forklift truck.Mohammed Ahmed claims he was in effect forced from his job because managers refused to accept that handling alcohol offended his beliefs.
The 32-year-old, raised in Saudi Arabia, told a tribunal he had never visited a Tesco store and had no idea it sold alcohol when he took on the role.
At that point you had two choices, Mr. Ahmed: you could have quit your job and found another that did not conflict with your religious beliefs -- or you could have filed suit so as to try to bend British society to the will of Islam. Your choice is interesting.
But he admitted shopping at Sainsbury's, Lidl and Asda and seeing alcohol on sale there. It was, 'reasonable to expect him to be aware of what Tesco did', said company lawyer Laura Canham, accusing him of giving out mixed messages by suggesting at one point he could handle Budweiser.
Yeah, I think it's watery, too.

Hello? If Ahmed is such a "hard liner" about the tenets of Islam, he should have investigated his duties before applying for the job.
Of course, the law suit is a frivolous one. Slam all costs upon the plaintiff, then triple the costs to further curb such blatant idiocy.

Always On Watch,
I agree with you of course, but I am certain that won't happen.
These "folks" have been nickle and dime(ing) the West for years now.
"Indigenous governments" would rather heavily tax the "indigenous majorities" to placate the alien few.
What the apathetic West doesn't understand is their resources are finite while the economic jihad is relentless, spanning generation after generation.
It is only a matter of time...

Sounds like another delivery of Bud and kosher products to this thoughtful muslim. He should have investigated a bit before taking this job, or declined it when he found out it would conflict
with his cultish beliefs, not "religous" beliefs.
maybe he should be demoted into the meat locker wit all that non-halal meat? Just another example of how "tolerant" muslims are not of us infidels.

Never thought I'd say this, but "Go, Tesco!"

The real news here is that a Saudi is actually working. He's probably not really from the Kingdom. I'd bet Palestinian.

from the bottom of the article:
"Sorry, but we cannot display user comments at the moment."
Hmmm., wonder why?

I'm a vegetarian and worked for Tesco. I made it clear in the interview for the job I didn't want to handle meat and they said that was ok; once in the job I never had to. This guy has obviously misrepresented himself to them.

It will be funny to see how this one turns out. Having dealt with trade unions and arbitration cases a few times over the years, I can tell you straight that employment law is weighted heavily in favour of the employer.
There is no way on Earth that he couldn't have known Tesco sold ale and Tesco's lawyers (and the tribunal panel) know it full well.

Felton,
Vegetarians don't handle meat? I thought they just refrained from eating meat.

I'm also surprised you were hired. Things are apparently different with labor laws in the UK as opposed to here in the good 'ol USA.
Here, it's unlikely any employer would be dumb enough to worry about being sued on the basis of discriminating against vegetarians.
Age, sex, creed, etc.? YES.
Diet? NO.

Hahaha! Yeah! Budweiser is to real beer what tofuburgers are to steak.
These companies need to have prospective employees sign a clear statement indicating they are aware of the duties expected of them, including handling alcohol, uniforms/clothing restrictions, break periods, etc.
They should have to agree to these terms in writing before accepting any position. So there would be no way of pretending they were not aware of such things.
And if they don't like it, too bad. Go works somewhere else.

Most strict vegetarians won't handle meat. The point is that I made my beliefs clear before they hired me and I was accommodated for. Had they said this was not possible I wouldn't have taken the job. This guy would have been told his full job description and had ample opportunity to enquire.

In Germany Budweiser is commonly referred to as "flamingo piss".
The original Budweiser Budvar is a whole different animal. yum!
As far as the MoFoe who refuses to forklift beer.. I know a few people who'd love to have that job!
Homer Simpson..
TheMoFoe needs to go HOME to SOWdi Barbaria where he won't be offended by the presence of beer.
Of the presence of 'infidels' and churches and all those many things to offend the self-righteous moooseleeemb of today.
They really ARE a frightful bore!

I'll tell y'all one thing : when the day comes (and it won't be long) when the Mozzas demand a total ban on alcohol in Britain is the day that things seriously kick off.
As an Englishman I know how much my fellow English, Irish, Welsh and (especially!!!) Scottish brother like a drink!
Imagine all the Scots with their blue warpaint on going after the Mosques!
A beautiful though!
:)
I wonder if I got a job at Tesco I could sue them for working with Muslims - which is against MY beliefs as I only want to work with people who believe in Democracy?
