I understand that they may be tortured if they return to China, but what assurance do we have that they will not engage in jihad activity in the U.S.?
"Judge: Let Chinese Muslims from Guantanamo into US," by Hope Yen for Associated Press, October 7 (thanks to Cumulus Nine):
...In a landmark decision, U.S. District Judge Ricardo M. Urbina (ur-BEE'-nuh) said it would be wrong for the Bush administration to continue holding the detainees, known as Uighurs (WEE'gurz), since they are no longer considered enemy combatants. They have been in custody for almost seven years and have been cleared for release since 2004. Although the Chinese government has demanded custody of the Uighurs, supporters and the Bush administration fear they would be tortured if turned over to Beijing....

There are 57 members of the O.I.C. There are 22 states in the Arab League. Among those who have found refuge in the Arab states are many Nazi war criminals (chiefly in Egypt and Syria). Other, later criminals, such as Idi Amin, were given life-time refuge in Saudi Arabia -- because they were Muslims.
And there are Uighurs already in Turkey, some of whom arrived just after the Communist takeover of China in 1949.
Is it impossible to find somewhere a little less close to the United States, a place where such people need not be monitored at our great expense, or if not monitored, then the source of great anxiety?
Why is this so hard to figure out? Why must abstractions take the place of thinking carefully about the needs of real people, the people whose well-being is something Judge Urbina, and the Bush Administration that apparently is unable, in its terminal idiocy, to think of any possibilities other than China or the U.S. in this case (what happened to Albania, which previously took some Uighurs off our hands?)

Ricardo seems to have misplaced loyalty and misguided idealism, which disqualify him from being a U.S. citizen, not to mention a U.S. District Judge. His conduct shames the entire Latino community and gives legitimacy to xenophobia against Latinos.

"His conduct shames the entire Latino community and gives legitimacy to xenophobia against Latinos."
-- from a posting above
No it doesn't, or at least shouldn't, not among sensible people. It merely makes one angry at the miscomprehension of one particular man, Judge Urbina himself.

If ever there was a case to be made against US immigration policies this decision by 'Judge' Urbina is surely IT.
First of all, this 'judge' is almost certainly blissfully unaware that Islam teaches first degree murder of non-Muslims (this judge Urbina is presumably non-Muslim and is therefore a potential target like the rest of us Americans). Then we can also see that Islam teaches a peculiar and lethal social supremacy of Islam and perpetuated by Muslims (through warfare--of which the Taliban government were a perfect example). Islam thus should NOT be in America for any reason and neither should there be any Muslims here. Those Chinese Muslims could and should have been deported to the Islamic land of their choosing--they did NOT need to end up here.
Our good Judge probably is under the illusion that being nice to Muslims will result in their reciprocating. If only (but, of course, it will never happen as the teachings in the Kuran see to that).
The United States' current immigration policies are a time bomb ticking away. By mid century we may well have reached the 1 billion mark, mostly third world immigrants. The implications of this are clear--and ominous.
We can see clearly that this judge is doing his part to ensure that the United States is completely destroyed.

By all means send them to the US. Death Valley could use a little increase in population.

So instead this retarded judge desires that these muslims be freed in OUR lands to kill OUR children. The Chinese want them because they are freakin' muslims warrior terrorists and deserve to be treated as such.
China has seen the fringes of its empire nibbled away at by the muslims for long enough. I don't like the commie bastards over there but I will give them the benefit of the doubt when it comes to fighting musims.

The Chinese man who last summer decapitated the sleepin' Canuck on that bus was most likely a Muslim.
Do the math.

It ain't gonna get better.

What is wrong with returning them to China? After all, they are no longer considered Enemy Combatants, they are Chinese citizens, and the Chinese want them back. It is none of our affair what the Chinese do with them when they get them back. After all, haven't we been told repeatedly by the 'far-left' and 'far-right' of the political spectrum in this country that it is not our place to meddle in the internal affairs of other nations?

We have no responsibility to keep foriegn nationals in this country. They are Chinese citizens, send them back to China.

I'm going to go against the flow again. Robert, in this country it's not considered right to imprison people on the basis that they can't prove they won't commit crimes if they are freed. These Uighurs have committed no crimes. It is unfortunate that other countries suck up to China by refusing to grant them refuge, but we are the United States of America. Freeing these individuals and granting them refuge is the only decent alternative we have. They should never have been imprisoned in the first place.

"First of all, this 'judge' is almost certainly blissfully unaware that Islam teaches first degree murder of non-Muslims "
So is Bush, and McCain, and Rice, and 99% of everybody in politics and the news media and academics. This judge is hardly all that special, I'd say.

I'm going to go against the flow again.
Your magnanimous decision will get us all killed.
Why would you confer citizenship upon those who do not recognize your right to exist as a free man?
Muslims are not here to participate in your culture or any culture. Muslims are here to replace your culture with Islamic culture through violent and non-violent Jihad. Ask the good folks of the Arabian Peninsula. Oh, wait, muslims wiped out all the free peoples in Arabia. Ask the kindly people of Persia. Oops, destroyed by islam again!
Deport them.
Muslims, by their own choice, are not citizens of any country and are not among us to participate in civil life but to replace it with Islam.
