UK primary school cancels Nativity play: it interferes with Muslim festival of Eid

Eurabia Update from Insane Britannia: "Primary school cancels nativity play because it interferes with Muslim festival of Eid," by Chris Johnson for the Daily Mail, December 3 (thanks to Alexandre):

A primary school infuriated parents after cancelling the traditional Christmas nativity play to make way for the Muslim festival of Eid.

Parents at the Nottingham school were told that the planned performance had to be pulled because some of the pupils wanted to celebrate Eid at home with their families.

In a letter, sent by the staff at Greenwood Junior School, mothers and fathers were told: 'It is with much regret that we have had to cancel this year's Christmas performances.

'This is due to the Eid celebrations that take place next week and its effect on our performers.'

However, following a barrage of complaints, a second letter was issued saying the show had 'not been cancelled outright' but has been postponed until the New Year.

The follow-up letter, sent by headteacher Amber Latif and chair of governors Yvonne Wright, apologised for the 'misunderstanding' caused by the first correspondence.

It read: 'We are a very inclusive school and fully respect the cultures and religions of all the children.

'We are upset to know that some of our parents/carers have been offended by the letter.

'The Christmas performance has not been cancelled outright but has been postponed until the New Year.'...

Compromise is a wonderful thing. So let the Eid observations be postponed until January and let the traditional Nativity play proceed during the traditional season.

Is there an end to this stupidity?!

If we don't respect our own culture and traditions, why are we so surprised that people from other cultures coming to our countries, doesn't respect it either?

We must rewrite how we position ourselves when it comes to multiculturalism. The majority domestic culture MUST be the one to follow.

Are you prepared to give your country to fundamental, religious minorities, for them to control us?

I will bring the pork rinds, chatillon. You bring the barbecue, and the swede can bring us the beer.

"'We are a very inclusive school and fully respect the cultures and religions of all the children."

They place greater value on respecting other cultures than their own. Christmans celebrations are a centerpiece of European civilization. Putting those celebrations off until the New Year is simply wrong.

Look at the headteacher's surname. 'Latif' doesn't sound very English, does it?

Posted by: Sencit [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 3, 2008 11:35 AM

TRANSLATION: Parents pitched a bitch and this is their fallback position. My opinion: too few parents, too little bitching. Whose school is it anyway? Teachers and headmasters do not own schools.

If these parents had any sense they would organise the Christmas (Advent) programme now, and continue celebrating the 'holydays' until Epiphany. This is our European heritage and no one named Latif should deny it.

Latif
Muslim: from a personal name based on Arabic latif ‘kind’, ‘gentle’. Al-Latif ‘the Kind’ is an attribute of Allah. This name is found in combinations such as ?Abd-al-Latif ‘servant of the Kind’.

'We are a very inclusive school and fully respect the cultures and religions of all the children,"

The affected (non-Muslim) parents should do two things:

Refuse to allow their children to attend, or in any way to participate in, the "Eid celebration." For this is part of Islam which is not merely or mainly a "religion" but also a Total Belief-System, with a politics and a geopolitics, and one that clearly inculcates hatred of Infidels, and the need to remove all obstacles to the spread, and then the dominance, of Islam.

If Yvonne Wright does not know this, if the Board of Governors of the school has somehow been kept in the dark about what Islam is all about, if they have learned "all about Islam" from, say, the likes of teacher Amber Latif, then they have a duty to learn and to promptly disabuse themselves. A duty. A responsibility.

And then that phrase which I plucked out and put at the top of this post would never have been uttered by Yvonne Wright, had she been better informed.

If there is some way for all non-Muslims -- Christians and Hindus and Sikhs and Jews, to start with -- by the way, are the Hindus and Jews going to have school-wide observances of Diwali or of Hanukkah, in which Muslim students will be expected to participate as, apparently, it is expected that non-Musilm students will participate in this three-day(!) Eid event?

Finally, this matter should be made much of all over England, Great Britain, and elsewhere in Western Europe. It is a sign. It is a portent.

Oh, sorry. Just one more thing. Yvonne Wright should be fired and the Board of Governors replaced. Is there a Minister of Education? Is there someone who can fire her?

If they're so "inclusive" then why do they only postpone Christian events?

"...let the Eid observations be postponed until January and let the traditional Nativity play proceed during the traditional season."
Posted by: Chatillon

Exactly. Why aren't the Christian parents raising absolute, holy hell about this - as well as demanding the dismissal of "Latif" for insulting their religion?

Posted by: Eastview [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 3, 2008 2:49 PM

Don't Eid celebrations include the brutal slaughter of animals in the middle of the street, in front of everyone?

If we're to talk about respect for someone else's beliefs and inclusiveness, when have those camel-molesters ever been asked by any Brit not to do that so that the whole gruesome spectacle wouldn't offend those who don't have the stomach to witness it?

So, if they don't like Nativity plays (I'm an agnostic by the way, but I don't have any problem with such plays), there's a place called Saudi Arabia to which they can move to never hear of such infidel stuff again. But when will the Brits ever show them the door?

I guess it's the Brits who will be shown the door first by the soon-to-be-anointed sultan Anjem Choudary.

Posted by: Proud_Kafir7908 [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 3, 2008 3:12 PM

What, they couldn't find the time between December 11th and Decmber 25th to run an approximately one-hour long Nativity play?

Sheer dhimmi lunacy!

i'd be suprised if any muslims would really be offended, more cultural marxism.

suprised that the children werent also reprimanded about Christmas and shown the beauty of Eid, what the hell is Eid anyway? who cares what it is? at school we used to sing carols nad have a nativity play, i wonder if post 9/11 lincoln celebrates happy christmas now that lincoln has a muslim mayor.

i bet robin hood is turning in his grave

Dorothy L Sayers wrote two brilliant nativity plays - a stand-alone, He That Should Come, and then, in her series of radio plays on the life of Jesus, 'The Man Born To Be King', broadcast in Britain during World War II, the first play, 'Kings in Judea'.

It would not be beyond the capacity of a group of sufficiently angry English parents to dig out either of these and read them in public, with expression. Or find an audio recording and play it in public, nice and loud.

Or find the 'Nativity' sequence of one of the classic medieval mystery/ miracle plays (though I *would* advise quietly editing out any - entirely superfluous and indeed quite un-scriptural - antisemitic references) and read that out in public, with some costumed performers miming tableaux. In the city square, or on the town common, or on the front step of one of the local churches.

Or just get in touch with the local vicar, priest or parson, explain that your kids were going to put on a nativity play in school and the Muslim headmaster has decreed that it can't be performed until New Year's...and can we please do it in the church, or in the church hall, with invitations circulated throughout the neighbourhood?

And all the non-Muslim children go right ahead and perform the play as originally rehearsed, and on an appropriate date, but in a church or church hall, rather than at the school.

If the Muslim kids miss out...well, we know sharia doesn't permit them to participate in the festivals of the dirty kafir, anyway.

Very good, little dhimmi. You are learning your proper place.

Posted by: Ernie Banks [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 3, 2008 5:50 PM

Hang on, hold the press!

Why doesn't the school offer the Muslim kids to stay at home and celebrate Eid, whatever the hell that is, and then let teh Normal kids celebrate chrimbo and do their own thing?

Posted by: michael calvert [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 3, 2008 5:53 PM

The key to Islam is this aphorism: "Islam is to dominate, and not be dominated".

It completely explains this Muslim headmaster who, having slithered into a position of power, promptly uses that power to demonstrate the power and priority of Islam - deliberately (and probably with much private glee) pushing a traditional Christian/ non-Muslim item out of its proper place in the season of Advent and forcing it to make way in time and space for, defer to, be rendered visibly less significant than, an exclusively Muslim 'celebration'.

If she could, she would probably have gotten rid of it altogether; and whatever the reason she ostensibly gave, the *real* reason would have been the elimination of yet one more little piece of jahiliyya, un-Islamic custom and belief.

This is merely one manifestation of the fundamental principle - 'humiliate (and ultimately destroy) the Other!' - encapsulated in that nasty little piece of advice for Muslims, in the Hadith (Sahih Muslim):

"Do not initiate the greeting of salaam to a Jew or Christian,

"and if you meet them in the street,

"push them to the narrowest part of the road.”
(Narrated by Muslim, 2167)."

Many Muslims, by the way, obey that Hadith EXACTLY (not just the general principle involved, but the precise command), on the streets of cities in the UK and USA - and Australia - today.

As I have read my way through three years of archives here, I have encountered multiple postings by people who - in the UK, in the USA, in Australia - were SHOVED OUT OF THE WAY by aggressive Muslims, or groups of Muslims, in the public thoroughfare: the Muslims would barge at them, walk through them, as if they did not exist (or, in the case of our late lamented Dominic, physically manhandle him out of the way in order to take his place at a railway ticket machine, and actually tell him, in LONDON, 'get out of our way, infidel slave').

My neighbour, at our local 'shoppingtown' mall, just this month, encountered a group of Muslims (male handler, females in hijab) who, strutting through the jam-packed pre-Christmas throng, marched straight at her as if she didn't exist; I don't know what might have happened had she stood her ground, refused to move for them, caught their eye and hissed, 'excuse ME'; quite possibly they would have physically assaulted her.

An Australian poster here, a couple of years back, remarked that groups of Muslims holidaying at the Gold Coast (especially groups of males) habitually 'ran down' the locals on the pavements, by walking aggressively straight at and over them, forcing them to move aside, rather than engage in the normal give-and-take dance which Infidel pedestrians regularly perform.

In every aspect of its practice, Islam worships the Will to Power: 'allah' can have NO partners, and at bottom, the truly consistent Muslim male, or Muslim group, also admits no equal, no partner, no counterpart. Each seeks to be as Allah, to be One, to the exclusion of all rivals.

Understand that and you understand everything - including the persistent reduction, in the Ummah, of sex to rape and the downward progression in sexual matters from hetero to homo to pedophilia (and incest) to bestiality to the use of the inanimate ('for ecstasy, a melon') to the use of the dead (necrophilia).

And the reduction of politics to Despotism (with Civil War) and Slavery: Dominator and Dominated, but the internal logic of the ideology, or 'philosophy', to call it that, of Islam, cannot even place a limit on what the Dominated may suffer, for the Dominator will never feel satisfied that his power is real and complete, until he has murdered that which he is dominating.

'I' am not secure, not powerful, until I have annihilated what is 'not-I'.

Here, cited in Bat Yeor's 'the Dhimmi' (1985 edition), p. 137, is the Arab Muslim politician, one-time president of Algeria, articulating precisely this world-view. One may substitute 'Muslim' at each point where he uses the word 'Arab'.

"A negative attitude was expressed in 1982 by Algeria’s first president, in a lapidary formula:
‘Ce que nous voulons, nous autres Arabes, c’est etre. Or, nous ne pourrons etre que si l’autre n’est pas.
- ‘What we want, as Arabs, is to be. However, we can only be, if the other is not’.” {or, ‘if the other does not exist’}…[note: Ben Bella, ‘Tous Contre Israel’, PI [i.e. International Political Review] 16 (Paris, 1982).

- Ben Bella openly approved the assassination of leaders whose policies he disapproves of – a common practice under the Mamluks – and then went on to justify, after the acquisition of nuclear weapons by Arab states, a nuclear war to destroy Israel:
- ‘If there is no other solution, then let there be a nuclear war, and that will be the end of it, once and for all.” END QUOTE.

"We [Arabs, Muslims] can only *be*, if the Other IS NOT".

You will find exactly the same mindset delineated among the devils in Hell in C S Lewis's 'The Screwtape Letters'...

dumbledore, a fascinating account. I'll keep an eye (and an elbow) out for that sort of behaviour. It does, however, highlight the childish, primitive and indeed ridiculous nature of Islam: Designed for morons, by morons.

This is just sad. The UK is Christian, damnit!

I attended the same school from kindergarten all the way through 8th grade, a K-8 school. We had a Christmas pageant every year that was amazing. The best part was at the end. The kindergartners wore red robes and stood on bleachers in rows. They sang 'Peter Peter Penguin.' It's an adorable tune:

Peter Peter Penguin marching by
Toes turned up and his head held high
Long black coat and a clean white vest
Peter Peter Penguin, you're the best!

It had a little dance, too, which they did while standing in place, just tightening their air-bowties, straightening their air-vests and pushing their chins up as they sang "head held high." Precious.

Then they would pull back the final curtain. There were I believe 3 curtains in total. And the 8th-grade girls who had attended the school since kindergarten, who had been little penguins 8 years prior, and who were enjoying the last moments of their last of 9 Christmas pageants were revealed, standing on very high bleachers. They wore white robes and tinsel halos and sang 'Away in a Manger,' first by themselves, then with the kindergartners standing in front of them on the shorter bleachers, then with everyone in attendance. It was always very moving. There were so many of us (maybe 9, max) the year that I got to be a big angel that they didn't have enough white robes. I volunteered to make my own, not knowing that my house would get robbed and that we would have a housefire that left a huge hole in the roof the week before the pageant (it was an electrical fire, and it was caught very quickly by my neighbor, long before we would have been aware of it, thank God). I finished my gown and a got to be a big angel. It was pretty much the highlight of my life up to that point, at least on a par with winning a few spelling bees.

It breaks my heart to think that some 8th-grade girls just got told that they will never get to be big angels. I'm Jewish and it was not a Christian school. It's just a lovely pageant that everyone looks forward to every year. Only Muslims would want to do away with something like that. Tragic.

Posted by: jdamn [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 3, 2008 7:25 PM

The illogic of "Postponing" a Christmas pageant until after Christmas is over escapes me.

Perhaps it's flat-earch logic?

Posted by: Vee [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 3, 2008 8:27 PM

Fellow Travelers,

We all know very well that Muhammad was extremely jealous of the Jewish and Christian concepts of the "fast", so it can be proven that he invented (nay, co-opted) these Jewish/Christian practices to show his followers that "Islam" was as good or better than Judaism and Christianity.

So now we are left with a conundrum, with respect to this article. Exactly which Eid are we talking about here?

Here's a list of the known zombie Eid festivals:

Eid Festivals

From the article:

A primary school infuriated parents after cancelling the traditional Christmas nativity play to make way for the Muslim festival of Eid.

Since the zombies believe in a lunar calendar, their Eid's are all over the place (in accordance with our western, solar calendar.)

From the Wiki reference, I would conclude that the Eid that the zombies are all hot and bothered about is the Eid ul Adha.

Eid al-Adha (Arabic: عيد الأضحى ‘Īd ul-’Aḍḥā, Urdu: بقرعید) or the Festival of Sacrifice is a religious festival celebrated by Muslims and Druze worldwide in commemoration of the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah. The devil tempted Ibrahim by saying he should disobey Allah and spare his son. As Ibrahim was about to kill his son, Allah intervened: instead Allah provided a lamb as the sacrifice. This is why today all over the world Muslims who have the means to, sacrifice an animal, as a reminder of Ibrahim's obedience to Allah. The meat is then shared out with family and friends, as well as the poorer members of the community (Islam names Ishmael as the son who was to be sacrificed, whereas the Judeo-Christian name Isaac).

So now the clarion call to all.

Sorry, This absolutely insane and stupid as can be. The school officials who allowed this to "happen" should be given the boot.
Just more dhimmitude actions in UKistan. No other days to celebrate eid and who is the majority of students there?? It has to be this way for muslims; you MUST accomadate us as we WILL NOT assimlate and mix with the cultures we invade, oops I mean immmigate to. Imagine that, a muslim headmistress using her authority to make sure that islam is the dominant force in the school, one way or another. islam's goal is to dominate, not to be dominated,as DDA has mentioned.

There are those of us who are Jewish and enjoyed the Christmas plays and parties when we were in elemntary school. All faiths got along quite well, thank you and we respected each other holidays, festivals and celebrations. This has been working for many, many years until the entrance of islam.Through its stealth jihad and war against us from within. This is a perfect example of what is wrong is with islam. Has TO BE THE DOMINATE FORCE OVER ALL OTHERS. Oh by the way
it is still a cult in my eyes where followers bow down to allah and pray towards mecca 5 fives times a day with their asses pointed towards the heavens. I hope the parents are in an uprorar and remain so. This is not the only place this will be happening, of this we can be 100% sure.

Posted by: PatriotUSA [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 3, 2008 11:49 PM

The offended parties, that is the Christians who will have to wait till after Christmas for their Christmas play ... well, they're only Christians, and British at that.

Really! Who cares what they think?

Besides, they are completely impotent anyway.

It doesn't cost much to piss them off.

Abraham should have gone ahead and done it.

Wouldn't October 31st be a more fitting time for Muslims to celebrate Eid, since they're already dressed for the occasion anyway.

Nice touch, champ! I have another day for eid, day of the dead, that is celebrated in Latin America and Mexico. No offense meant to those who are of hispanic, Latin American descent intended. Just seems to go along with islam since evry day under islam there are deaths and one cannot be "alive" under this sham of a religion and sharia law.

The school observance of Eid may be more sinister in its long-term effects if it involves the symbolic slitting of a lamb's throat. I write from personal experience. In third grade, I took part in a Christmas play. I was one of the Three Wise Men, bearing a gift. In slow and stately eight-year-old fashion, I walked from the back of the elementary school's Assembly Hall hall right up to the three stairs leading to the stage and then walked onto the stage, where along with the two other Wise Men I knelt and placed my gift near the baby Jesus (played by a swaddled and bediapered doll). Playing the role of a Wise Man made a deep impression on me. Not everyone in my family is delighted with the result.

Somewhat off-topic, but for those of you who are interested, Sirius XM radio has classical Christmas music from Thanksgiving until Christmas. I get it through my satellite television service, channel 6079 (may be different on other satellite systems). I believe it is also available on-line.

This music dates from the late middle ages and the renaissance through the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. They have traditional folk tunes like wassailing songs and Greensleeves, standards like Ave Maria and Adeste Fideles, classical compositions by Tchaikovsky and Handel, and songs like the Coventry Carol and the Carol of the Birds, and many quite obscure pieces.

Most of the music is in English, but they also play pieces in French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Latin. They have one or two selections in Russian and Greek. You can listen to both Lo, how a Rose e'er Blooming and Es Ist Ein Ros Entsprungen--English and German versions of the same carol.

The music is beautifully performed, by groups ranging the Boston Symphony, The Westminster Abbey choir, and Chanticleer to solo a capella artists.

This is some of the most glorious holiday music ever created. I often listen while I'm painting, during the Christmas season.
