Is it that the government can't or won't protect them? The schedule described above sounds like a comfortable arrangement (a gentlemen's agreement, minus the gentlemen): Pakistani forces look busy during the day, while the Taliban retain control. One can't help but wonder if the loss of the girls' schools is simply a sacrifice authorities are willing to make in order to keep the peace. Islamabad, Dec 24 (DPA) Islamic militants have imposed a ban on female education and warned teachers of severe consequences if any girl is seen heading for a school in the restive Swat district of Pakistan's North West Frontier Province, local residents said Wednesday.
The announcement was made Friday by a spokesman of radical cleric Maulana Fazlullah - who has waged armed struggle to impose Taliban rule in the district - on a pirated FM radio frequency regularly used by the militants.
'All the private and government schools have been given a 15-day deadline to close down the female education facilities. They have also banned women from visiting markets,' Mohammad Osman, a school teacher and social worker, told DPA.
'We have no choice but to follow the orders. The government cannot give us protection. Taliban have established a parallel government in 90 percent area of the district and they execute everyone who opposes them,' he added.
Pakistan deployed more than 30,000 troops to quell Fazlullah's rebellion in October, but the government has not been able to establish its writ in the district. Hundreds of troops, insurgents and civilians have died in the continuing clashes.
Rebels have blown up or torched hundreds of girls' schools over the last 14 months while female teachers regularly receive threats.

Since Mahomet was the perfect model for all humanity, and since mahomet was illiterate, perhaps the mahometans believe this is a great honor to keep girls illiterate.
Here is a thought if Mahomet was actually illiterate their is no way he could have participated in the writing down of the verses contained in the koran, therefore the trust that was placed in allah, then in mahomet is transferred to those who traffic in the koran, starting with those who supposedly first collected the recitiations and which means every sheik, ayatollah and other of the islamic priesthood also partake of that worship, so the idea that God has no companions is internally contradicted, since if God had no helpers or companions he would not need a "prophet" since god could actually reveal whatever he wanted to reveal to anyone he wanted to reveal it to.
So mahomet borrows the idea of prophet, then adds to it the traditional near eastern ideals of what constitutes rule, and ends up with a religion that must make its adherents a bit frustrated and prone to all the sort of things people are prone to when there is a deep realization that things do not make sense.

Can someone please enlighten me? Why are they so shit scared of an educated woman? Don't they know what they are missing? My Mother - was a woman, the Aunts who spoiled me when I was a child - were women. When I first went to school my teachers - were women. I grew up and I fell in love - with many women. The finest Boss I ever worked for - was a woman.
I married - a beautiful woman. Who gave me a daughter who grew into - a beautiful woman. who went on to be a Surgical High Dependancy Nurse.
( A wee bit of paternal pride there Eh? ) I love women! Big ones ,Small ones, fat ones ,thin ones, bright ones and some dim ones. Where the hell would we be without women? What a bunch of backward 7th century misogynists they are!

Rookie: I am sure that Muslims would agree that they love women too. Young, nubile women. Only those. They love what they can use them for. So they want to keep them uneducated and use them for breeding MORE young women. More and more, young virgins tumbling out of their mothers' wombs. As for the men-children, they are not really a problem, they are "brothers" - they can go and invade the West, or kill infidels; they are useful too.
THEY SHOULD HAVE TO FACE THE CONSEQUENCES OF THEIR OVER-BREEDING, NOT US!
How dare our governments, religious leaders and other assorted "elite" say we should take these people into our countries? We are not responsible for them! Even they know they have no right to inflict themselves on us - they can't believe their luck that we are being so stupid.

the Taliban and terrorists don't treat women well. It is part of that SHARIA LAW milabeled as "fairness doctrine" that they believe in female genital mutilation for women and they beat and abuse women. Does that sound like love to you?? No woman should have to suffer like that.
Go see how you can help--women against sharia law --work to protect our freedom and the women of this Nation and others.

Every time I read about the EVILS of the Taliban and their subjugation of women (and everyone else, for that matter), it just makes me sick! Why on earth is this tolerated? Of course, as long as the men who believe in this crap are in charge, it will always be around to make miserable the poor women who have the misfortune of being born there. Just look at how Afghanistan is trying to return to the Dark Ages! Those people - and the men, in particular - just sit on what passes for brains. I think a little "eunufication" is long overdue. So, what would they do, how would they operate and what & how would they think without their misused and over-valued genetalia?!? Snip, snip....

They want to close the school because the girls will learn. Learn that 6 is too young for sex. Learn that being whipped and beaten is not normal. Learn that their little brothers should not be used for sex. islam is filthy and teaches filth. Been there seen it.
