How about some Tofurky? Or the "vegetarian loaf" Lee Boyd Malvo requested (recipe included at the link), and then complained about?
Mm-mm punitive! "Muslim inmate files suit over lack of halal meat," from the Hartford Courant, December 31:
UNCASVILLE, Conn. - A Muslim inmate in a Connecticut prison has filed a federal lawsuit, alleging he has been denied meals that conform to his religious standards.
Ricardo Collins says officials are denying his right to freedom of religion by failing to provide meat that is "halal," slaughtered in accordance with Islamic law.
The 27-year-old inmate, who is being held at Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center, filed his lawsuit in U.S. District Court on Dec. 23.
Prison officials declined to comment, citing department policy on pending litigation.
A spokesman says meals served to Muslim prisoners comply with their religious standards, even if they do not contain halal meat.
The world is full of vegetarian sources of protein. But those don't bring the gratification of getting back at the prison system by convincing officials outside the system to force it to provide special accommodations.
Collins recently won an appellate court decision granting him a new trial on a murder charge. He had been convicted in Superior Court of killing a man in Bridgeport in 2002.

I knew that John Allen Mohammed was Mohammedan, but Malvo was too? I'm not surprised - just that since he didn't adapt a Mohammedan name, I'm assumed that he wasn't.
Put him on a vegan diet. In fact, that should be the norm for all prisoners.

If he wants meat, let him have PORK.
He could have camel milk and urine to drink as well, since the aforementioned drinks, unlike pork, are halal according to the seventh-century, child-molesting desert rat (may eternal torment be upon his louse-ridden rear end.)

How about suing the Muslims collectively for the increase of aggression, rape, murder, jail time, jail accommodation, increased police use and increased need for weapons, police/army training, the increase of water shortage for foot-washing before prayers (and i dont' think they're using water aerators) etc etc?
They owe us big time!

?? Maybe it's time for some "law-fu": People trying to use the system for special treatment? Why not a "friend of the court" assist the dept of corrections and prove (or at least raise the issue) that islam is not a religion (or at least a religion as others think of one) Instead, CT prison doesn't have to provide special food to those that are members of a dangerous cult.
Take advantage of the lawsuit to show that islam does not have the same attributes as other religions (and is therefore NOT protected under the 1st amendment) . If we loose, what's the big deal? But if we win, think of the discussion (which leads to awareness) that would be generated by the appeals, talking heads, etc. etc.
Seriously, except for the amount of members, what makes islam different than other cults we've seen over the years? Like most cult members, muslims need help, and it will take someone NOT in the cult to assist.

RE: the camel urine comments - give the inmate a choice, if they really want halal meat, then they sign an agreement to forgo any modern medical care in lieu of having some fresh camel urine.

They should instead just give him Kosher-Parve meals. I am sure that there are synagogues who will accommodate this absurd request. He could eat the lovingly Jewish made food and thank al-ilah the moon god every day for living in this great country.

My, I AM bitter today. Must be because I am thinking and praying for Amina and Sarah Said to be remembered. Today is the first anniversary of their "honor-murders" by their father. And the SOB IS NOT in jail. Where he needs to be for the rest of his cursed Godless life!

But since we don't live on the flat world imagined by the medieval arabs, but on the surface of a sphere, it doesn't matter which direction he faces while he sits on the toilet. Like everyone else in America he will be defecating in the general direction of Mecca.

Don't know about CT state prisons, but the Federal Bureau of Prisons has a program called "common fare". It is a meal program designed for those with religious dietary restrictions, and the menu was agreed upon by various religious parties as acceptable. The program essentially grew out of the "kosher kitchen" concept-- as kosher meals are also acceptable to the other religions that have restrictions (i.e. no pig products).
The meals are usually lousy, i.e. vegetarian baked beans as an entree (although occasionally offering either kosher piece of chicken or "Salisbury steak", but hey, don't do the crime if you can't do the time! NO, don't do it!
Of course many fed inmates abuse the program as they see it as a health diet program rather than a religious diet (since common fare program often provides fruits & vegetables not available on regular inmate meal service), and hence lie about their religious affiliation, with full assistance of prison chaplains... these folks don't last very long on the program though, after they get a couple of those bean dinners while the rest of the inmates are eating ribs...

What about just bread and water until the complaint is heard .......it can take months before they find a judge willing to hear the case

Transfer this jerk to Arizona and incarcerate him in Sheriff Joe Arpaio's jail in Maricopa county. Sheriff Joe has 10,000 prisoners, 2000 of which are in tents in the desert. They wear pink clothes, no TV, no smoking, no coffee or tea, no air conditioning, etc. Sheriff Joe believes no prisoner should have it better than our fighting men and women overseas. I agree!!
BTW, why doesn't someone do something about worthless attorneys that take cases like this one? Isn't there a law against filing frivolous lawsuits?

Feed the guy a couple of hot dogs (real dog) on wheat buns and slaw salad made with mayo - he just needs some 'good eat'ens' to adjust his law suit; better yet how about some BBQ ribs (pork) and Kosher bread sticks with oleo.
