Why did Allah bother to create all the Spanish if he was just going to raise up this clown to kill them all? Islamic jihadists, oddly enough, never ponder such questions. "Terrorist hairdresser nabbed by Majorca police," from The Local, June 14 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

Police in Majorca arrested a "radical" hairdresser on Thursday after he claimed to have been sent by Allah to "kill all the Spanish".

The man, a German national of Tunisian descent, also said that he had "terrorist friends who could plant bombs" and added: "I don't mind dying; if I have to die, I'll die, but I'll take plenty of others with me."

The man was arrested in Alcúdia, Mallorca, and charged with a number of crimes, according to press agency EFE.

An official report from the Baleares Civil Guard stated that the accused was a student at a well-known hairdressing academy in Palma.

"He became radicalized in the last year after making a trip to his country of origin", said the report.

It pointed out that he had made "constant threats of death and references to being a Muslim" and that he had said, "Soon the Muslims will be the kings of the world."

In the past week the man is said to have threatened to "blow up the hairdressing academy and kill everyone" and to have threatened to kill one of the centre's administrators while holding scissors to her neck.

The man had been arrested before, on February 15th, for attempting to attack a local policeman by following his vehicle, attempting to crash into it and then threatening to kill him.

A police search of the man's apartment revealed a samurai sword, self-help books for low self-esteem, documents in Arabic about the forgiveness of sins, and material considered by the police to show "signs or evidence of family tensions or changes in behaviour, withdrawal and social polarization".

This confirms what thinking people have known for many months, but few state authorities admit: that Western Muslims travelling to Syria to learn jihad are returning to the West in order to carry out attacks. Berlingske - FE: Westerners are the primary threat

The greatest threat to the West from al-Qaeda's involvement in Syria is Westerners who have links to the militant network and return home with bad intentions, estimates The Danish Defence Intelligence Service.

The Defence Intelligence Service (FE) is closely monitoring the civil war in Syria and its influence on Denmark's security.

This is the conclusion in a new report from the FE that gives an insight into FE's assessments and general work in 2011 and 2012.

"The primary threat to the West from al-Qaeda's involvement in Syria is Westerners who get weapons training, combat experience and contact with the militant network and then travel back to the West to carry out attacks," says the report.

This makes sense. After all, they're conquering Europe now, due to insane immigration policies and Europe's own pusillanimity. Only "Islamophobes" stand in the way of the Islamization of Europe now, and everyone knows that "Islamophobes" are beyond the pale of social acceptability. Why rub it in about the long-gone days when Europeans put up some resistance to the jihad? "Vienna: Teachers Told Not to Cover the Topic of Turkish Sieges in Class In Case Immigrant Children Feel Offended," by Cheradenine Zakalwe for Islam Versus Europe, June 3 (thanks to David):

Out of consideration for immigrants of Turkish background teachers in a Vienna elementary school have been advised to no longer cover the topic in their teaching. Whoever does not comply is threatened with being transferred, reports the newspaper Krone. After all the Turks could feel insulted when they are reminded of their defeats. The Turkish wars are of major significance for Austrian history, however. Vienna alone twice faced major Turkish sieges - and beat back the attackers both times. Parents are angry about the initiative of the Vienna headmasters; even the Krone speaks of a "falsification of history".

Eurabia is increasingly unsafe for those whom the Qur'an dubs the worst enemies of Islam (5:82).

"Unprovoked Attack on Jews in Lyon," from Israel National News, June 2 (thanks to Choi):

Anti-Semitism continues to plague France. According to local media outlets in Lyon, two Jewish residents of the city were attacked Saturday as they walked to a local synagogue.

The two were attacked by three men of Arab origin in an unprovoked, sudden assault.

The two Jews shouted for help. Neighbors began to arrive at the scene, and the attackers fled.

Police arrived as well, and began to investigate. They discovered that the attack had been captured on film by security cameras at a nearby store. Investigators expressed hope that the film would lead to the attackers’ quick capture.

One year ago attackers brutalized three Jewish men in an unprovoked assault in Lyon. Two of the victims were hospitalized.

A short time later the Chief Rabbi of Lyon received a letter threatening attacks on Jews.

In "Europe’s Meltdown: A Cautionary Tale" at Breitbart, June 1, Pamela Geller sets out some grim facts about modern Europe, and warns the U.S. against going down the same path (which we are eagerly doing):

Muslims rioted in Sweden for a week, burning cars and attacking police. This is just the latest in an unremitting Islamic campaign, a continent-wide jihad initiative leaving death and destruction in its wake. It is a glimpse into the present and future of Europe, due to its disastrous and suicidal immigration policies, and a cautionary tale for America.

And it isn’t just in Sweden. It’s in France as well, where there have been periodic Muslim riots, featuring the same car-burnings, screams of “Allahu akbar,” and attacks on police. All over the continent, we see the effects of Muslim immigration in Europe. When a Muslim tried to assassinate free-speech activist Lars Hedegaard in Denmark, the New York Times smeared Hedegaard and praised Muslims.

Last year, Belgium was shaken by a Ramadan crime wave, with threats of jihad grenade attacks on public buildings. A devout Muslim called for the murder of members of a pro-freedom political party in Germany. Other Muslim thugs “patrolled” the streets of London, harassing those they believed do not conform to Islamic law. There are even Sharia zones enforced in the U.K. Gay man are targeted by Muslims who threaten them to “get out of here, you bloody fag.” In Italy recently, a jihadist was arrested in Rome and there were police raids in Milan, Palermo, Cagliari, Cuneo, and Salerno. But Muslims nonetheless are violently rioting and attacking non-Muslims in that country. In Spain, a jihadi plotted to poison the tourist water supply. A jihadi trio was arrested “in possession of explosives and poison.”

And because of this mass Muslim immigration, the Islamic antisemitism has increasingly rendered Europe hostile to Jews. Norway's Jewish population is almost nonexistent, French Jews are fleeing in droves, and a Jewish school in Belgium has been forced to shut down. In Sweden, Muslims shot rockets and hurled pipe bombs at Jews and attacked Jews at a peaceful pro-Israel rally. In Germany, Muslims rioted, chanting “Jews out, Germans out, allahu akbar, f**k off Jews, kick the Jews out, burn the Jew.” A Hezbollah courier was found guilty of playing a role in a Cyprus jihad terror plot. Hezbollah was also behind the bombing of a bus full of Jewish tourists in Bulgaria. In Italy, a Muslim was jailed for a Milan synagogue bomb plot. There are now sweeping "no-go areas" for Jews in Europe.

Think it can’t happen here? At a Los Angeles rally, Muslims chanted “Long live Hitler” and “Put Jews in ovens.”

The mainstream media, true to form, seldom identifies the perpetrators. Instead, in a characteristic move they blamed the Swedish riots on the right and attribute it all to poverty, saying: “Some seven years of centre-right rule, however, have chipped away at benefits.”

Swedish journalist Ingrid Carlqvist said

The last 20 years or so, we have seen so many immigrants coming to Sweden that really don’t like Sweden. They do not want to integrate, they do not want to live in [Swedish] society: Working, paying taxes and so on. The people come here now because they know that Sweden will give them money for nothing. They don’t have to work, they don’t have to pay taxes – they can just stay here and get a lot of money. That is really a problem.

Nonetheless, some in the media say that the overburdened taxpayer should pay more jizya (the tax demanded of non-Muslims under Islamic law) to these “masked youths [who] vandalise schools, libraries and police stations, setting cars alight and hurling stones at police and firefighters.”

Media elites and leftist tools scrub and sanitize the grim truth while Europe burns. The media is crippled by its own self-censorship -- beheadings in the streets of London, bombings in Boston, thousands of burning cars, Sweden under siege, but still the media cannot say the M-word. For those who don’t speak media, “Asian,” “immigrant,” “youth,” “immigrant youth,” “North African,” and “Moroccan” all mean the same thing. The M-word is prohibited – to utter it in a negative manner would be to commit blasphemy under the Sharia. “Do not offend Islam.”

Social exclusion is to blame. Housing is to blame. Disrespect for the police (non-Sharia authority) is to blame. Everything and anything is to blame except what's actually to blame. And Sweden is getting swallowed whole.

AFP writes that the rioting was “set off earlier this month by the police shooting of a 69-year-old man” and neglects to mention that the man charged at police with a machete (think London beheading).

And Swedish politicians (as well as the media) are trying to make light of it. “The acute thing is to ensure that these neighborhoods get back to normal everyday life,” said Erik Ullenhag, Sweden’s integration minister. It will never be normal again, Mr. Ullenhag. Snap out of it. It will never be normal again in Sweden or anywhere in Europe.

Already Sweden is doing the bidding of Islamic supremacists. According to Christianity Today, “Sweden is denying religious refugee status to Iranian Christians, threatening to extradite them. Applicants complain that secular immigration judges don’t understand the risks they face back home in Iran as converts.” And a Stockholm municipality has allowed the Islamic call to prayer to go out across the city over loudspeakers.

And a Somali journalist in Sweden, Amun Abdullari, has decided to return to Somalia. She wrote about how young Muslims in Sweden become jihadists – and was promptly attacked by the Swedish left. She says that while “Somalia is a dangerous place, Sweden is more dangerous than Mogadishu. Here you cannot tell the truth. The truth is kept secret, the people are silenced.”

The violence, the rioting, the rapes, the attacks on police, and firefighters are not happening in a vacuum. There is a societal sanction, an appeasement, that clearly emboldens and gives rise to an escalation.

With all of these concessions to the Sharia and Islamic supremacism, is it any wonder that the invading army is more brazen and naked in achieving its goal?

And yet the media and governing elites focus not on the jihad force but on the so-called “right-wing extremists” who are trying to halt the Islamization of Europe.

Read it all.

Over at Fox News today (via RaymondIbrahim.com), I discuss how Islam's "number theory" works -- that is, the more Muslims, the more Islamic phenomena, in this case, brutal violence against non-Muslims:

Last week in London, two Muslim men shouting jihad’s ancient war-cry, “Allahu Akbar” beheaded a British soldier with a cleaver—in a busy intersection and in broad daylight. They boasted in front of passersby and asked to be videotaped.

As surreal as this event may seem, Islamic beheadings are not uncommon in the West, including the U.S. In 2011, a Pakistani-American who helped develop “Bridges TV”—a station “designed to counter negative stereotypes of Muslims”—beheaded his wife. In Germany in 2012, another Muslim man beheaded his wife in front of their six children—again while hollering “Allahu Akbar.”

Beheading non-Muslim “infidels” in the Islamic world is especially commonplace: in Yemen a “sorceress” was beheaded by the “Supporters of Sharia”; in Indonesia, three Christian girls on their way to school were beheaded; in Syria last Christmas, U.S.-supported rebels beheaded a Christian man and fed his body to the dogs; in Africa—Somalia, Tanzania, Mali—Christians are regularly decapitated. (For a comprehensive picture of Christian suffering under Islam, see my new book, Crucified Again: Exposing Islam’s New War on Christians.)

Most recently, a disturbing video surfaced from “liberated” Libya of a machete-wielding masked man hacking at the head of a captive—again, to cries of “Allahu Akbar!”

But the greater lesson of the London beheading concerns its audacity—done in broad daylight with the attackers boasting in front of cameras, as often happens in the Islamic world.

It reflects what I call “Islam’s Rule of Numbers,” a rule that expresses itself with remarkable consistency: The more Muslims grow in numbers, the more Islamic phenomena intrinsic to the Muslim world—in this case, brazen violence against “infidels”—appear.

In the U.S., where Muslims are less than 1% of the population, London-style attacks are uncommon. Islamic assertiveness is limited to political activism dedicated to portraying Islam as a “religion of peace,” and sporadic, but clandestine, acts of terror.

In Europe, where Muslims make for much larger minorities, open violence is common. But because they are still a vulnerable minority, Islamic violence is always placed in the context of “grievances,” a word that pacifies Westerners.

With an approximate 10% Muslim population, London’s butcherers acted brazenly, yes, but they still invoked grievances. Standing with bloodied hands, the murderer declared: “We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you until you leave us alone…. The only reason we have done this is because Muslims are dying by British soldiers every day.”

Days later in Stockholm, which also has a large Muslim minority, masked rioters destroyed 100 cars and property. The grievance for this particular outbreak was that police earlier shot a(nother) machete-wielding “immigrant” in self-defense.

Grievances disappear when Muslims become at least 35-40% of a nation and feel capable of waging an all-out jihad, as in Nigeria, where the Muslim-majority north has been terrorizing Christians—bombing hundreds of churches and beheading hundreds of infidels.

Sudan was an earlier paradigm, when the Khartoum government slaughtered millions to cleanse Sudan of Christians and polytheists. Historically Christian-majority Lebanon plunged into a deadly civil war as the Muslim population grew....

Continue reading to see what happens when Muslims become majorities and eventually 100% of societies.

And still the media persists in denying and obfuscating who is rioting and what the root cause of the riots really is. "Stockholm riots spread west on sixth night," from The Local, May 25 (thanks to C. Cantoni):

Stockholm experienced a sixth straight night of riots early Saturday, with cars torched in several immigrant-dominated suburbs, as Britain and the United States warned against travelling to the hotspots.

Nearly a week of unrest, which spread briefly Friday night to the medium-sized city of Örebro 160 kilometres west of Stockholm, have put Sweden's reputation as an oasis of peace and harmony at risk.

The unrest has also sparked a debate among Swedes over the integration of immigrants, many of whom arrived under the country's generous asylum policies,
and who now make up about 15 percent of the population.

An AFP photographer witnessed a car engulfed in flames before firefighters arrived in the Stockholm district of Tensta. Cars were incinerated in three other areas of the capital as well, according to the Swedish news agency TT.

"I've never before taken part in anything that lasted so long and was spread over such a wide area," police spokesman Lars Byström told TT.

Another police official said earlier that Stockholm police were about to receive reinforcements from Gothenburg and Malmö, the country's second- and third-largest cities, but declined to disclose how many would arrive.

In the city of Örebro, police reported a fire at a school as well as several cars ablaze, but quiet had returned around midnight. The unrest in Stockholm had "rubbed off", police told TT.

About 200 right-wing extremists were reported to cruise around Stockholm suburbs in their cars late Friday, but intense police surveillance apparently prevented any kind of serious violence.

The nightly riots have prompted Britain's Foreign Office and the US embassy in Stockholm to issue warnings to their nationals, urging them to avoid the affected suburbs.

Firefighters were dispatched to 70 fires the night between Thursday and Friday, extinguishing torched cars, dumpsters and buildings, including three schools and a police station, the fire department wrote on Twitter. This was down from 90 blazes the night before.

Parents and volunteer organisations who have patrolled the streets in recent nights have helped decrease the intensity of the unrest, police have said.

Police, who have so far concentrated on putting out fires, are beginning to round up people suspected of criminal acts, so far arresting at least 29.

"Even if we don't intervene, we regularly make video recordings and get information from the public. That way we can get people a couple of days later," police spokesman Byström told TT.

The troubles had begun in the suburb of Husby, where 80 percent of inhabitants are immigrants, triggered by the fatal police shooting of a 69-year-old Husby resident last week after the man wielded a machete in public.

Local activists said the shooting sparked anger among youths who claim to have suffered from police brutality and racism.

One of the rioters in Husby told Sveriges Radio that racism was rampant where he lived, and that violence was his only way of being noticed.

"We burned cars, threw rocks at police, at police cars. But it's good, because now people know what Husby is... This is the only way to be heard," said the rioter, identified only by the pseudonym Kim.

Stockholm county police chief Mats Löfving said Friday the rioters were local youths with and without criminal records.

In addition, "in the midst of all this there is a small group of professional criminals, who are taking advantage of the situation to commit crimes like this," he told Sveriges Radio.

A 25-year-old who grew up in Husby said he didn't think the riots had anything to do with the shooting.

"I'm not saying there are no problems... but people are glorifying this a little bit," said the man, who declined to be named, adding that the rioters were often aged 12 to 17.

"I can imagine they get a big kick out of seeing themselves on TV," he said.

Due to its liberal immigration policy, Sweden has in recent decades become one of Europe's top destinations for immigrants, both in absolute numbers and relative to its size.

But many of those who have arrived struggle to learn the language and find employment, despite numerous government programmes.

Official data show unemployment was 8.8 percent in Husby in 2012, compared to 3.3 percent in Stockholm as a whole.

Eric Zemmour, a right-wing French commentator known for his controversial views, meanwhile told RTL radio the riots showed that the Swedish "kingdom of social democracy and of political correctness" was little different from countries like Britain and France.

Yep.

The riots are Muslims, but the Islamic contempt for the kuffar and jahiliyya society is never considered as a root cause, any more than it is even when a Muslim beheads a soldier on a London street and invokes the Qur'an by way of explanation. "Riots in Sweden: Cars Burn in Fourth Night of Youth Violence," from Spiegel Online, May 23 (thanks to Pamela Geller):

Riots continued for the fourth straight night in Sweden Wednesday, as youth set fire to cars and threw stones at police in immigrant suburbs of Stockholm and the southern Swedish city of Malmo.

Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt has appealed for calm in the wake of the violence, which appears to have been instigated by the police shooting of a machete-wielding 69-year-old man in the Stockholm suburb of Husby this month. Police said the shooting was an act of self-defense, but it has triggered accusations of police brutality.

Riots began in Husby, which has a large immigrant population, on Sunday night and have spread to other locations, including the southern suburb of Fittja.

A police station in another southern suburb was set on fire, but no one was injured in the attack and the fire was quickly extinguished, according to media reports. Dozens of cars have been set ablaze during the riots, testing the resources of the local fire departments, according to the police.

At least one police officer was injured in the riots Wednesday night, and two schools, a restaurant and a cultural center have been damaged this week.

Growing Disparities

The violence has been attributed to the growing disparities between rich and poor in the country, where immigrant communities have been affected the most by cuts in state benefits over the past two decades. Official unemployment among the foreign-born is at 16 percent.

"The reason is very simple," Rouzbeh Djalaie, editor of a local newspaper in Husby told the news agency Reuters. "Unemployment, the housing situation, disrespect from police. It just takes something to start a riot, and that was the shooting."

Djalaie told Reuters that local youths are often the subject of unnecessary identity checks from police, who reportedly called them "apes" during the recent riots. The country ranks fourth among 44 industrialized nations in the absolute number of asylum seekers.

Swedish Justice Minister Beatrice Ask called attacks on police officers or rescue personnel "unacceptable," but said she understood why many people in these suburbs are angry. "Social exclusion is a very serious cause of many problems, and we understand that," she said.

This Bloomberg story is the height of mainstream media politically correct ridiculousness. We are told that the rioters were born between 1991 and 1995, as if that is the salient point to make clear why they are rioting. Nowhere is it mentioned that they are Muslims, although in other stories this has been made clear in other stories that mention the rioters' "spokesman," Rami al-Khamisi. "Swedish Police Arrest Eight as Husby Riots Spread in Stockholm," by Niklas Magnusson and Johan Carlstrom for Bloomberg, May 22 (thanks to Pamela Geller):

Swedish police arrested eight people after riots in Husby spread to other Stockholm suburbs last night as young people set fire to cars and schools and vandalized property.

About 30 cars burned overnight in suburbs including Husby, Jakobsberg, Norsborg and Vaarberg, Kjell Lindgren, a spokesman for the Swedish Police, said by phone today. In Husby, a school and the Husby Gaard cultural center were set on fire while rubbish bins burned across Stockholm’s western and southern suburbs. A school was also set alight in the Skaerholmen suburb, and a police station and buildings in central Jakobsberg were vandalized.

The riots began in Husby on May 19, about a week after a 69-year-old man brandishing a knife was killed by police in an apartment. Sweden, which has Scandinavia’s highest youth unemployment rate, has suffered from riots before. In 2008, young people in Rosengaard in the southern city of Malmoe clashed with police after setting fire to cars and bins. Those riots also spread to the Stockholm suburbs of Tensta and Husby.

“There is a core, as there often is, of young men who believe in using violence and who believe that this use of violence is above our democratic values and above Swedish law,” Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt told reporters in Stockholm yesterday. “The people of Husby must get their suburb back because the majority want to live in calmness and safety.”

The people arrested for vandalism and setting cars on fire were born between 1991 and 1995, police spokesman Lindgren said. The police officers who patrolled the capital city’s suburbs last night “felt the atmosphere was less confrontational than on previous nights,” said Lindgren. Police remain prepared in case of further riots tonight and is probing claims that officers used racist slurs, he said.

Why just two years? Do the Germans really think that by two years down the line, these battle-hardened warriors of Allah will have forgotten all about jihad? If they went to Syria to wage jihad in order to impose Sharia, they want it in Europe as well. They should not be allowed back at all.

"Germany calls for two-year ban on Europeans returning to the EU from Syria over fears suspected Islamists will come back as 'homegrown terrorists,'" by Kerry Mcdermott in the Daily Mail, May 17 (thanks to Block Ness):

Germany has called for Europeans fighting the Assad regime in Syria to be temporarily barred from re-entering the EU - amid fears they could return as 'homegrown terrorists'. The German government has claimed as many as 700 Europeans have joined opposition forces fighting President Bashar al-Assad's soldiers, and warned militant Islamists could pose a threat upon returning to the EU from the battlefields of Syria.

Now the country, which has said it is aware of up to 40 people who have left Germany for Syria since the summer of 2012, wants to see suspected Islamists banned from re-entering the EU from Syria for two years.

Germany's interior minister, Hans-Peter Friedrich, is expected to address the controversial suggestion at a meeting of EU governments next month, according to a report in the Guardian.

Officials at the ministry said that of 6,000 foreign militants believed to be fighting the Assad regime, between 400 and 700 are European.

Fighters could not be prevented from leaving Germany in the first place because it was impossible to prove they were going to Syria, the ministry said, adding that while passports could be confiscated, it was possible to travel to the Syrian border with just an ID card.

It is not clear how the proposed ban would be enforced, as the individuals involved would likely have EU passports as well as jobs and families in the countries concerned.

Up to 60 militants have also left Germany for Egypt, the interior ministry said.

'Most have joined the Islamists. The dangers are growing for us,' a senior official was quoted as saying.

A survey by King's College London found last month that up to 600 individuals from countries including the UK, Spain, Sweden and Germany had taken part in the Syrian conflict since the war erupted in 2011. The largest contingent was from the UK.

priest.jpgCareful, monsignor! You might harm the wonderful dialogue!

"France: Priest Attacked by Muslim, Monsignor Denounces Muslims Taking Control of District," by Cheradenine Zakalwe for Islam Versus Europe, May 14 (thanks to Pamela Geller):

The day after the attack on Father Grégoire, Monsignor Cattenoz has spoken out strongly and denounces "people of the Muslim faith taking control of the district". The facts are taking on a political/religious dimension...

On Monday at around 8 pm, Father Grégoire from the parish of Saint-Jean was attacked by an individual. Struck on the face, the priest was unconscious on the ground until two other members of the parish arrived. This Tuesday morning at around 11 am, Monsignor Cattenoz, Archbishop of Avignon, denounced growing insecurity in the district of Saint-Ruf (while the local authority official in charge of public safety claims instead that there has been a decrease in crime in this sector), as well as the proliferation of thefts and threats towards members of the parish.

The leader of the Catholics in Vaucluse went even further: "People of the Muslim faith have progressively taken control of this district"... before proposing to create a committee bringing together representatives of the main religions, in order to calm the situation.

The local Muslim leader wasn't buying it:

The Avignonnese Mohammed Moussaoui, president of the French Council of the Muslim Religion, also wants to calm things down: "Before highlighting adherence to one or another religion, we need to see if the attack was accompanied by words or gestures associated with the religion. Giving it a religious dimension seems counter-productive to me."...

It might even be "Islamophobic."

Temporary marriage, or mut'a, is the practice of entering into a marriage with a time limit: the couple is married only for a night, or a week, or whatever time period their agreement specifies. So in other words, it is prostitution under the guise of morality. Temporary wives are found in large numbers in seminary towns where young clerics-in-training are away from home and lonely.

This is a Shi'ite concept that mainstream Sunnis ostensibly reject; the Shi'ites point out that Muhammad allowed it, while the Sunnis maintain that he later abolished the practice. Shi'ites also justify it by reference to Qur'an 4:24, which says: "And those of whom ye seek content (by marrying them), give unto them their portions as a duty. And there is no sin for you in what ye do by mutual agreement after the duty (hath been done)." They see in that reference to "what ye do by mutual agreement" the allowance of a time limit.

"I do... for now. UK Muslims revive temporary marriages," by Shabnam Mahmood and Catrin Nye for the BBC, May 13:

The temporary marriage, or nikah mut'ah, is an ancient Islamic practice that unites man and woman as husband and wife for a limited time. Historically it was used so that a man could have a wife for a short while when travelling long distances. So why are young British Muslims adopting the practice now?

"It allowed us to meet without breaking the bounds of Sharia [Islamic law]. We both wanted to date, to go out for dinner or go shopping and just get to know each other better before getting married, which we wouldn't have been able to do otherwise," says Sara.

She is a 30-year-old pharmacist from Birmingham, a Shia Muslim of Pakistani heritage.

'It's basically a contract'

Sara was temporarily married for six months before committing to a full marriage to her partner.

"It's basically a contract. You sit down and stipulate your conditions - for a girl who hasn't been previously married, you do need the father's permission," she said.

"We stipulated the duration, my father's conditions, and I requested what you would call a dowry where the guy gives a gift to the girl. It's simple, straightforward and doesn't take long at all," Sara added.

She is one of a significant number of young British Muslims using a temporary marriage as a way of balancing their religious beliefs with their modern Western lifestyle.

Because of the informal nature of the union there are no official statistics to show how many temporary marriages there are in the UK. But a number of senior Shia Muslim scholars and Muslim student organisations told BBC Asian Network there is something of a revival.

'Taboo subject'

There is a sectarian divide among Muslims on temporary marriage. The mut'ah is practised by Shia Muslims while Sunni Muslims generally consider it haram - forbidden.

The mut'ah is particularly popular on university campuses and, according to Omar Farooq Khan, president of the Ahlul Bayt Islamic Society at Bradford University, the practice is on the increase among Shia students.

"Definitely nikah mut'ah is on the rise now due to students becoming more aware about it. Students are educated people so obviously they look around for a solution to their problems from an Islamic perspective," said Mr Khan.

"What else are they going to do? They can't just have a cold shower because it doesn't work and otherwise they just end up doing the haram thing and having a girlfriend or boyfriend. Many people won't talk about it though, because it is still a taboo subject," he added.

'Strictly not allowed'

Khola Hassan, a Sunni Muslim and spokesperson for the UK Islamic Sharia Council, says the practice is strictly not allowed. She says it is equal to prostitution because of the time limit applied to the union.

"I have never come across a Sunni scholar, throughout history, who declares mut'ah marriage to be halal," said Mrs Hassan.

"There is no difference between mut'ah marriage and prostitution. There is a time limit on the marriage, and the mahr given as a gift [from the man to the woman] is the equivalent as a payment to a prostitute," she added.

The nikah mut'ah consists of a verbal or written contract in which both parties agree the length of time and conditions for the marriage.

The union can last for a few hours, days, months or years and when the contract ends so does the marriage.

It can include stipulations such as "no physical contact" - or "no funny business", as one parent put it - and the procedure is completed with the mahr.

Sayyad Fadhil Milani, spiritual leader at the Al-Khoei Centre in Brent, north-west London, is widely regarded as the UK's most senior Shia Islamic scholar and has written about the mut'ah marriage in his book Islamic Family Law.

Sectarian divide

"At the time of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, it was practised widely, especially when men were travelling away from home on business or at war," he said.

Ayatollah Milani said: "Islam does not permit relationships like those between a boyfriend and a girlfriend. So a nikah mut'ah gives them an opportunity to get to know each other before committing themselves to a full marriage."

He admits there is a sectarian divide over the issue: "Umar [ibn al-Khattab, the second Caliph of Islam], himself said that the mut'ah was lawful at the time of the Prophet but he banned it and said he would punish everyone who does it.

"So some Muslims [in this case Sunni Muslims] are against it because they follow the interpretation and the suggestion made by the second Caliph. The Shias say that we stick to the Koran and the practices of the Prophet."

Although nikah mut'ah is a Shia concept, other types of informal marriages are practised by Sunni Muslims, such as misyar and urfi.

Misyar allows a couple to live separately through mutual agreement while urfi is done without the public approval of the bride's guardians. Neither of these, however, has time limits as with nikah mut'ah.

Critics of these informal marriages, both Sunni and Shia, argue they allow a person to have multiple sexual partners and are used as an "Islamic cover" for prostitution or the exploitation of women, with men taking on multiple "wives" for a number of hours....

Indeed.

This article never gets around to explaining what kind of extremists are preaching on UK campuses, and which group would want gender-segregated seating at events, except to note way down in the story that one of the offenders is the Islamic Education and Research Academy -- but in fact, Muslim groups are the only ones who would be involved in either of these things. "Preaching by extremists and discrimination through segregation has become widespread trend at UK universities equality group claims," by Dominic Harris for the Independent, May 13:

Preaching by extremists and discrimination through segregation at student events has become a widespread trend at many UK universities, a student equality group claims.

Radical preachers spoke at nearly 200 events at universities including Cardiff and University College London (UCL) over the last year.

Research found that segregated seating for men and women was promoted or implied at more than a quarter of the events, at 21 separate institutions, despite university rules forbidding it.

Student Rights, which was set up to tackle extremism on campuses and carried out the research, said universities were failing to provide students with work and study environments that are free from discrimination and harassment.

In its study of events promoted to students by union-affiliated societies between March 2012 and March 2013, Student Rights found 180 that featured "speakers with a history of extreme or intolerant views".

Of these, 46 (25.5%) explicitly promoted segregation by gender, or implied that it would be the case through promotional material or by providing separate contact details for men and women.

Six of the events were subsequently cancelled. Two institutions, UCL and the University of Leicester, have sine announced investigations into the segregated meetings.

Among the events highlighted was a gender-segregated at UCL on March 9, Student Rights said.

A lecture, Islam vs Atheism, was organised by the Islamic Education and Research Academy (IERA), and pitted writer Hamza Tzortzis against Prof Laurence Krauss in a debate.

A policy of segregation was suggested by the IERA in a statement before the event, which said: "As for seating, it is according to when the ticket was booked and gender."

Students raised the issue with UCL, which gave assurances that segregation would not be allowed.

But the sexual segregation policy was enforced at the event, with separate entrances for men and women - although couples were allowed to enter together - and segregated seating.

Organisers' security tried to physically remove members of the audience who would not comply, Student Rights said.

Speaking of its findings, Student Rights said in a statement: "The fact that such a large percentage of the events logged by Student Rights during this time period either explicitly advertised events as segregated by gender or implied that this would be the case underlines claims that events highlighted are not 'isolated incidents', but rather form a part of a wider, discriminatory trend on UK university campuses."...

Sweden now joins several Muslim countries in giving lenient sentences for honor murders. Yes, he was a juvenile. But this was a savage murder.

Muslims commit 91 percent of honor killings worldwide. A manual of Islamic law certified as a reliable guide to Sunni orthodoxy by Al-Azhar University, the most respected authority in Sunni Islam, says that "retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right." However, "not subject to retaliation" is "a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring's offspring." ('Umdat al-Salik o1.1-2). In other words, someone who kills his child incurs no legal penalty under Islamic law.

The Palestinian Authority gives pardons or suspended sentences for honor murders. Iraqi women have asked for tougher sentences for Islamic honor murderers, who get off lightly now. Syria in 2009 scrapped a law limiting the length of sentences for honor killings, but "the new law says a man can still benefit from extenuating circumstances in crimes of passion or honour 'provided he serves a prison term of no less than two years in the case of killing.'" And in 2003 the Jordanian Parliament voted down on Islamic grounds a provision designed to stiffen penalties for honor killings. Al-Jazeera reported that "Islamists and conservatives said the laws violated religious traditions and would destroy families and values."

In light of all this, until authorities get the courage to tell the truth about honor killing, there will be many more such murders.

"Court slashes sentence in 'honour killing' case," from The Local, May 7 (thanks to Pamela Geller):

A Swedish appeals court has reduced a lower court's eight-year prison sentence for a 17-year-old boy found of guilty fatally stabbing his sister more than 100 times after she fled a forced marriage in Iraq, in what the court referred to as an "honour killing".

In a ruling issued on Tuesday, the Malmö Court of Appeals (Hövrätten), upheld the teen's guilty verdict, but discarded the lower court's eight-year prison sentence.

The court instead sentenced the boy to four years in juvenile detention because he was 16 when he killed his sister.

As the boy was only days away from his 17th birthday at the time of the attack, the lower court had decided to punish him as a 17-year-old rather than as a 16-year-old, allowing for a longer prison sentence.

The appeals court verdict stated that had the the crime been committed by an adult, it would have warranted a sentence of life in prison.

The appeals court's verdict also confirmed that there was enough evidence to tie the teen to the murder, restating that the apparent motive was the notion of protecting the family's honour.

The 17-year-old's sister had previously fled a forced marriage in Iraq and returned to Sweden. Her body was found with multiple stab wounds in her Landskrona apartment in April 2012.

Representatives of the Malmö-based organization Tänk om, which works to stop honour crimes, told local media at the time that the woman had been in touch with them for one year since returning to Sweden and that she slept with a knife under her pillow for fear of reprisals over her escape.

They claimed local authorities had ignored their warnings that the woman was under threat and needed protection....

I just received this message from Imran Firasat:

Hi friends. As you all know that a few months ago my refugee status was revoked by the Spanish government over producing a movie on Islam´s prophet Muhammad´s life.

After that I was also accused of hate crime (hurting religious sentiments of Muslims) and was being prosecuted. There was a huge pressure on me to leave Spain or to be prepared for deportation or detention. But I decided to stay here and fight for my right to freedom of expression.

The appeal I have lodged against the decision of the ministry to revoke my refugee status is still in the process in the Spanish high court. But today I have got great news which is a landmark victory for the freedom of expression in Spain and in Europe.

The public prosecutor and the acting judge have acquitted me of the hate crime. They have said that there are no indications of having committed a crime. They said that after having a look at my declaration and all the documentation, they have found that I always had informed the government about my actions on Islam and that I never had any wrong intention to hurt someone´s feelings or threat the national security of Spain.

Friends, do you know what does this mean? This means that our western politicians can be afraid of Islamism and ignore the rights of a western citizen in order to appease radical Islam but the justice never favors anyone and always goes with the truth. I am happy that my country´s judicial system has respected my right of freedom of expression. I am thankful to the Spanish judges for giving me justice and leaving a great message that the justice can never be oppressed by the politicians, radical Islamic organizations or by the Islamic violence.

I hope that I will also recover my refugee status soon as I have been acquitted by the Spanish court of the hate crime. If by expressing my opinion, I haven´t committed any crime according to the Spanish law, then why should my refugee status be revoked.

Thanks to those who have opposed me and a very special thanks to those who have helped and supported me during the hard moments of my life. I specially want to appreciate the help which I got from “The Legal Project”, “Discourse Institute UK”, “Mr. M.A.Khan” and many other individuals and organizations. A very special thanks to Dr. Daniel Pipes for his love, care and attention towards me.

But I think I still should not be too happy as I still have to fight to get back my refugee status. I still have to set an example in Spain and in Europe that in the western democracies anything can be criticized including Islam as Islam is not an exception and that we are not going to shut our mouths because of the fear of unnecessarily Islamic violence.

I request all of you to please sign the following petition to the Minister of interior of Spain, asking him to reinstate my refugee status.

Ministro del Interior del Gobierno de España, Jorge Fernández Díaz: Mantenga la condición de refugiado del ciudadano Imran Firasat

Thank you very much
Yours sincerely

Magdi Cristiano Allam being baptized by Pope Benedict XVI at the time of his conversion to Catholicism

Either Europe Will Become Christian Again or It Will Become Muslim
by Enza Ferreri

Only a few days ago one of the best known figures of the Italian counter-jihad, Egyptian-born journalist Magdi Cristiano Allam, a former Muslim who converted to Catholicism, announced that, although he remains Christian, he has left the Catholic Church.

In his column in the daily paper Il Giornale he gave several reasons, prominent among which is "Because this Church is weak vis-à-vis Islam":

What more than anything else drove me away from the Church is its religious relativism, in particular the legitimization of Islam as true religion, of Allah as true God, of Muhammad as true prophet, of the Koran as sacred text, of mosques as places of worship. It is genuine suicidal madness that John Paul II went so far as to kiss the Koran on May 14, 1999, Benedict XVI put his hand on the Koran praying toward Mecca in the Blue Mosque in Istanbul on November 30, 2006, while Francis I began by extolling the Muslims "who worship one, living and merciful God." On the contrary I am convinced that, while respecting Muslims who, like all people, possess the inalienable rights to life, dignity and freedom, Islam is an inherently violent ideology, as it has historically been conflictual inside and belligerent outside. Even more I am increasingly convinced that Europe will eventually be submitted to Islam, as has already happened from the seventh century to the other two sides of the Mediterranean, if it does not have the vision and the courage to denounce the incompatibility of Islam with our civilization and the fundamental rights of the person, if it does not ban the Koran for apology of hatred, violence and death against non-Muslims, if it does not condemn Sharia law as a crime against humanity in that it preaches and practices the violation of the sanctity of everyone's life, the equal dignity of men and women, and religious freedom, and finally if it does not block the spread of mosques.

This news has attracted national and worldwide media attention, just as the announcement of his conversion from Islam to Catholicism on 22 March, Easter Eve night, 2008 did, when he "received Baptism, Confirmation and Communion in St Peter's Basilica from Pope Benedict XVI".

Allam's position has several Italian (and international) counter-jihad blogs sympathetic to it, carrying articles with titles like Islamic Fundamentalism and the Impossible Dialogue.

Robert Spencer has also written a sympathetic piece, The Spiritual Journey of Magdi Allam.

But his new decision to leave the Church has also attracted many criticisms in Italy. Journalist Filippo Savarese: "I do not know what could be worse than repudiating one's conversion for (alleged) issues which are in fact mostly 'political'." Politician Maurizio Lupi who was Allam's godfather: "I am sorry, but Christianity taught me to love the freedom of every man and to respect it even when I do not agree with his choices. In this case not even with the reasons (we are Christian for love of truth not for aversion to Islam), but I notice that, unfortunately, this is the attitude of many who say they accept Christ but not the Church".

Gabriele Satolli, candidate to the 2013 Italian general election for the party founded by Allam, Io Amo l'Italia, left the party, calling Magdi's motivations "raving, and therefore impossible to agree with".

Still, although we may dispute whether they are a good enough reason to leave the Catholic Church, Allam's arguments are grounded in reality.

"Having a dialogue" is by definition a reciprocal verb, as "being a sibling". They mean something only if what is true of the subject of the verb is also true of the object, be it a quality, relationship or activity. When a call for dialogue is not met with a response, it is a monologue.

As Raymond Ibrahim points out, the Muslim countries with some of the worst records on their treatment of Christians are also the most interested in interfaith initiatives in the West:

Few things offer surreal experiences as when Islam and the West interact—when 7th century primordialism encounters 21st century relativism. Consider the issue of “interfaith dialogue.” In principle, it is a decent thing: Christians, Jews, Muslims, and others trying to reach a common ground and professing mutual respect. But what does one make of the gross contradictions that emerge when a human-rights violating nation calls for “dialogue,” even as it enforces religious intolerance on its own turf?

Enter Saudi Arabia. Birthplace of Islam, the Arabian kingdom is also the one Muslim nation that regularly sponsors interfaith initiatives in the West—even as its official policy back home is to demonize and persecute the very faiths it claims to want to have an interfaith dialogue with.

There are different positions within the Catholic Church with regard to Islam, with a minority of voices, some of which powerful, dissenting from the official stance.

The two positions at the extreme opposites are exemplified by the late Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini, who was Archbishop of Milan and died last summer, and Cardinal Giacomo Biffi, Archbishop of Bologna.

The former is credited with having anticipated many bishops of Italy and Europe in stretching out an acquiescent hand towards Islam. As early as 1990 he dedicated his Saint Ambrose homely to "We and Islam". In 2001, after 9/11, his Saint Ambrose homely had a title that substituted a clear stance with a list of concepts: “Terrorism, retaliation, self-defence, war and peace”.

On Islam, the most difficult issue of the decade, as well as on many other questions, Martini's position has always been the search for a grey area, a balancing act: “We have to prevent the dramatic scenario of a clash of civilizations”, qualified by “We must not delegitimize the right to self-defence from terrorism and the need to extinguish its hotbeds”.

It is interesting how, replicating the ideological and political alliance between Islam and the Left in the Western lay world, Cardinal Martini, considered a progressive and constantly praised by the mainstream liberal media, was after his death eulogized by the leftist newspaper La Repubblica for having approved of policies ranging “from dialogue with Islam to yes to condoms” and because “he had never condemned euthanasia”.

Writer and blogger Antonio Socci thus sums him up rather unfavorably:

"Everything imposed by ideological fashions found Martini open to dialogue and to all possibilities: 'there is nothing wrong in two people, even homosexuals, having a stable relationship and in the State favouring them', he had said."

At the other end of the spectrum is Cardinal Giacomo Biffi. As early as 30 September 2000, before 9/11, when not many people in the West worried about Islam at all, he delivered a speech at the Fondazione Migrantes seminar, "On Immigration". The following is what he said on Muslim immigration to Italy and Islam:

The case of Muslims

If we do not want to evade or censor realistic attention, it is apparent that the case of Muslims should be treated separately. And it is hoped that political leaders will not be afraid to face it with open eyes and without illusions.

Muslims - in their vast majority and with few exceptions - come here determined to remain alien to our "humanity", individual and social, in its most essential, valuable, "secularly" non-renounceable aspects: more or less openly, they come here determined to remain substantially "different", waiting for us all to become substantially like them.

They have different eating habits (not in itself a big problem), a different holiday in the week, a family law incompatible with our own, a concept of women very far removed from ours (going as far as practicing polygamy). Above all, they have a strictly fundamentalist view of public life, so much so that the perfect identification between religion and politics is part of their unquestionable and inalienable faith, although they prudently wait to become predominant before imposing it. It is therefore not the Church, but modern Western states that must think carefully about this.

I shall say more than that: if our state seriously believes in the importance of civil liberties (including religious) and democratic principles, it should work to make them more widespread, accepted and practiced at all latitudes. A small tool to achieve this goal is the request of being given a not purely verbal "reciprocity" by the immigrants' countries of origin.

In this respect the Italian Bishops Conference wrote in 1993: "In many Islamic countries it is almost impossible to adhere to and freely practice Christianity. There are no places of worship, non-Islamic religious events are not allowed, not even minimal ecclesiastical organizations exist. That raises the difficult problem of reciprocity. And this is a problem that affects not only the Church, but also civil society and politics, the world of culture and even international relations. For his part, the Pope is tireless in asking everyone to respect the fundamental right to religious freedom" (n. 34). But - we say - asking does not help very much, even if the pope cannot do any more.

Although it may seem alien to our mentality and even paradoxical, the only effective and not unrealistic way to promote the "principle of reciprocity" by a really "secular" state, truly interested in propagating human freedoms, would be to allow for Muslims in Italy only the authorization of institutions which Muslim countries actually allow for others.

Conclusion

In an interview ten years ago, I was asked with great candor and with enviable optimism: "Are You among those who believe that Europe will either be Christian or cease to exist?". I think my answer then may well serve to conclude my speech today.

I think - I said - that either Europe will become Christian again or it will become Muslim. What I see without future is the "culture of nothing", of freedom without limits and without content, of skepticism boasted as intellectual achievement, which seems to be the attitude largely dominant among European peoples, all more or less rich of means and poor of truths. This "culture of nothingness" (sustained by hedonism and libertarian insatiability) will not be able to withstand the ideological onslaught of Islam, which will not be missing: only the rediscovery of the Christian event as the only salvation for man - and therefore only a strong resurrection of the ancient soul of Europe - will offer a different outcome to this inevitable confrontation.

Unfortunately, neither "secularists" nor "Catholics" seem to have so far realized the tragedy that is looming. "Secularists", opposing the Church in every way, do not realize that they are fighting against the strongest inspiration and the most effective defence of Western civilization and its values of rationality and freedom: they might realize it too late. "Catholics", letting the knowledge of the truth they possessed fade in themselves and replacing apostolic anxiety with pure and simple dialogue at all costs, unconsciously pave the way (humanly speaking) to their own extinction. The only hope is that the seriousness of the situation may at some point lead to an effective awakening both of reason and of the ancient faith.

It is our hope, our commitment, our prayer.

Written in 2000. All predictions confirmed. Truer, if possible, now than it was even then.

Eurabia's new export: jihad. "‘Up to 600 Europeans among ranks of Syrian rebels,’" from the Times of Israel, April 3 (thanks to Benedict):

Since the beginning of the Syrian conflict in March 2011, between 2,000 and 5,500 foreign fighters, including up to 600 Europeans, have joined rebel forces in the fight against the Assad regime, a new study has found.

The International Center for the Study of Radicalization (ICSR) at King’s College London in the UK published its findings on Tuesday, citing over 450 Western and Arab sources and martyrdom notices on jihadi Internet forums.

Between “140 and 600 Europeans have gone to Syria since early 2011,” said researcher Aaron Y. Zelin, noting that up to 400 remain on the battlefield.

As many as 134 fighters from Britain have fought in Syria, according to the study, with 107 from the Netherlands, 92 from France and 85 from Belgium. The countries with the least fighters in Syria (1 apiece) are Albania, Austria, Bulgaria and Kosovo.

Other countries with fighters include Finland, Ireland, Sweden and Spain.

Most of the Dutch citizens estimated to be fighters have reportedly remained on the battlefield.

“As with previous conflicts, the picture is far from complete and will probably remain so for years to come,” said Zelin. “There is no ‘true census’ of foreign fighters, and publicly available sources are inevitably incomplete.”

He dismissed consistent claims by the Syrian government that the majority of fighters involved in the Syrian conflict were foreigners, citing a “liberal estimate” of 5,500 foreign fighters out of a rebel force some 60,000-strong. Thus the foreigners would represent less than 10%. But “the actual figure is likely to be lower,” said Zelin.

The study found that the motivations for joining the fighting include the “horrific images of the conflict, stories about atrocities committed by government forces, and the perceived lack of support from Western and Arab countries.”

“In many cases, these individuals fully adopt the jihadist doctrine and ideology only when they are on the ground and in contact with hardened fighters,” the report said.

Zelin noted that “not everyone who has joined the Syrian rebels is al-Qaeda, and only a small number may ever become involved in terrorism after returning to Europe.”

However, he added a word of caution for European governments vis-a-vis these fighters: “Individuals with foreign training and/or fighting experience have featured prominently in European based terrorist plots,” and are far more dangerous and sophisticated than domestic cells....

Meanwhile, establishing such a center to train missionaries and spread Christianity in any Muslim country will get you killed. "Centre set up in Europe to train missionaries and spread Islam," from NitiCentral, March 22 (thanks to Lookmann):

Centre set up in Europe to train missionaries and spread IslamIn its December 30, 2012 issue, Urdu daily Dainik Munsif, reported that a special centre has been set up in France to propagate Islam in which around 300 youths are being given training. The youths will work as Imams in mosques and impart Islamic teachings.

According to the daily, out of 300 people, around 150 are Christian converts. They are being given religious teachings along with Arabic, and are also being trained to work as Imam. Women however, will not be allowed to work at this centre.

The daily also claimed that trained Islamic missionaries will be sent across Europe to propagate Islam. At present, there are 2,260 mosques in France where Islamic training is being given.

Once again we see young Muslims in the West getting the crazy idea that Islam sanctions mass murder. Yet Muslim spokesmen in the Europe and the U.S. routinely castigate as "Islamophobic" anyone who dares to explore what it is in the texts and teachings of Islam that makes some Muslims think this way. One would almost think that these spokesmen want to enable that violence by shutting down any attempt to analyze and resist it.

"Brothers found guilty of training for terror," from the Copenhagen Post, March 25 (thanks to Lookmann):

Both men sentenced to three and a half years after damning audio from phone conversations suggested that they intended to embark on a murderous rampage in Europe

The two Danish-Somali brothers who were accused of financing terror and training for terrorist acts last month were found guilty today in Aarhus.

The brothers, aged 19 and 24, were each handed prison sentences of three and a half years by presiding judge Poul Holm, who put emphasis on a number of phone conversations between the 24-year-old brother, who was in Somalia between November 2011 and March 2012, and the 19-year-old in Aarhus.

On sound recordings from the conversations, the older brother said that he would “assemble a whole group [to] go to Europe and murder everything”. The judge and all the jury members, aside from one, found that the brothers were training for terror purposes.

The Aarhus case was unusual as it was the first time individuals were convicted of receiving training and preparing for a terror attack while in a foreign-based terror training camp.

The two brothers were also charged with providing financial support to al-Shabaab - which is considered a terrorist organisation by several European countries, the US, Canada and Australia - but were found not guilty on that charge....
