He worked at the airport. No one there would have dared to make any attempt to ascertain his commitment to jihad. That would have been "Islamophobic." "Frankfurt airport gunman jailed for life," from the BBC, February 10 (thanks to Alan of England):

A young Kosovan man who admitted shooting dead two US airmen at Frankfurt airport last year has been sentenced to life in prison.

Arid Uka, now 22, is a Muslim ethnic Albanian who was born in Kosovo but grew up in Germany.

Uka was convicted on two counts of murder and three of attempted murder by the court in Frankfurt.

The American servicemen were travelling from the UK to the Ramstein airbase near Frankfurt.

US soldiers Nicholas Alden, 25, and Zachary Ryan Cuddeback, 21, were killed in the shooting.

Two other airmen were seriously injured in the attack on a bus at the airport.

A jammed gun prevented Uka from shooting a fifth airman in the head.

Uka said during his trial that he had been radicalised by jihadist propaganda videos he had watched online.

Prosecutors said he had wanted to kill the airmen because they were going to join the Nato-led force in Afghanistan. He had no known contact with Islamist groups, they said.

As the sentence was read out, Uka had his arms folded and did not move, German press agency DPA reports....

At the start of the trial, Uka admitted the killings and apologised for them, saying he did not know why he did it.

Arid Uka was born in the Kosovo town of Mitrovica but grew up in Germany. At the time of the attack, he was apparently working at the airport.

German politicians once again make room for totalitarian barbarism:

Jochen Hartloff, Sharia.jpg

Most politicians in Germany have gotten the message: The quickest way to spark a career-damaging controversy is to make a facile comment about Nazis or the Holocaust. Media critics and political opponents are quick to pounce.

But that isn't the only way to attract unwanted attention, as Jochen Hartloff, the interior minister of the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, found out this week. In an interview with the Berlin tabloid BZ, Hartloff said that Sharia law, in a "modern form," would be acceptable in Germany. In comments published on Friday in the center-left daily Süddeutsche Zeitung, he added that using the Islamic moral code "is certainly conceivable when it comes to questions pertaining to civil law."

Hartloff, a politician from the center-left Social Democrats, made clear that he was referring specifically to family law issues such as divorce settlements and alimony, but also certain instances of contract law in which devout Muslims seek to avoid paying interest. Applying Sharia rules, he said, could help avoid hostility in such cases. ....

He was seconded by Stephan Mayer, a parliamentarian for the Christian Social Union, the Bavarian sister party to Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democrats. Mayer, a legal expert, demanded Hartloff's resignation. "It is inconceivable that a justice minister fosters such ideas," he told Bild. "There is no room in Germany for Islamic law. The Sharia is barbarous and inhuman in all its forms." ...

Michael Frieser, expert on integration issues for conservatives in German parliament, said that Muslim justices of the peace could perhaps be used to prepare the groundwork for a civil law judgement. He told the Süddeutsche Zeitung that he has nothing against immigrants seeking judgements according to the legal systems they are used to. "That can ultimately serve the cause of integration," he said.

Still more converts to Islam misunderstand their new, peaceful religion. And yet, despite the frequency of such instances, no one, anywhere, is calling upon Muslims to institute instruction classes for converts to Islam to help safeguard them from this curious misunderstanding. "German converts plead guilty to smuggling bomb instructions into Britain," by Duncan Gardham for the Telegraph, February 2:

Two German Islamic converts have pleaded guilty attempting to smuggle the same bomb-making instructions used by the London Stock Exchange bombers into Britain.

Christian Emde, 28, and Robert Baum, 24, from Solingen in Western Germany were stopped as they entered the country on a ferry to Dover in July.

Sources told the Daily Telegraph the men were on a watch list because they were active in extremist circles in Germany.

They eventually told police they were traveling to London and Birmingham to meet unnamed individuals.

A search of their rucksacks revealed a large quantity of extremist literature stored on a hard drive and a laptop computer, including an article called “How to make a bomb in the kitchen of your Mom,” from the al-Qaeda magazine, Inspire.

The same recipe for a pipe bomb was used by the four men who pleaded guilty this week to plotting to blow up the London Stock Exchange.

The men were said to have a “passion for guns” and their backpacks contained numerous gun manuals written in English, Arabic and German.

Other articles included “39 ways to support jihad” by Anwar al-Awlaki, one of the former leaders of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsular who was killed in a drone attacks last year.

Another article was entitled “The Ultimate Mowing Machine” and described how blades could be fixed to a truck to cut down pedestrians.

Emde had “vast quantities of Jihad and terrorism booklets and pamphlets” an earlier hearing was told and Baum had “similar but fewer articles.”

Both men are Islamic converts. Emde converted in 2003 and Baum two to three years ago.

Emde was the moderator of a website in Germany which opposed the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He was said to have an “interest in terrorism” but claims he did not download the material to distribute it or for the purposes of terrorism.

Timothy Green, for Emde, said the material was "freely available" on the internet and was thought not to be illegal in Germany.

At their preliminary hearing, the men refused to stand up to face the charges.

Speaking through an interpreter Baum said: "To stand up would be an act of worship which is forbidden in Islam.”...

Sitting down in an Infidel court is an act of piety, as is murdering Infidels.

Here is some important background on Germany's attempt to stamp out truth-telling regarding Islam and jihad, an initiative which accords neatly with Sharia directives: "Germany Attempts to Silence Criticism of Islam," by Soeren Kern for Stonegate Institute, January 12 (thanks to Stefan):

German authorities have officially confirmed that they are monitoring German-language Internet websites that are critical of Muslim immigration and the Islamization of Europe.

According to Manfred Murck, director of the Hamburg branch of the German domestic intelligence agency, the Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz (BfV), his organization is studying whether German citizens who criticize Muslims and Islam on the Internet are fomenting hate and are thus criminally guilty of "breaching" the German constitution.

The BfV's move marks a significant setback for the exercise of free speech in Germany and comes amid a months-long smear campaign led by a triple alliance of leftwing German multicultural elites, sundry Muslim groups and members of the mainstream media, who have been relentless in their efforts to discredit the so-called counter-jihad movement (also known as the "Islamophobes") in Germany.

Opinion polls show that growing numbers of ordinary German citizens are worried about the consequences of decades of multicultural policies that have encouraged mass immigration from Muslim countries.

Germans are especially concerned about the refusal of millions of Muslim immigrants to integrate into German society, as well as the emergence of a parallel legal system in Germany based on Islamic Sharia law.

In an effort to reverse this tide of public opinion, the guardians of German multiculturalism have been working overtime to regain the initiative by accusing the critics of Islam of engaging in hate speech to try to intimidate the so-called "new right" into silence.

The media campaign has been led by two financially troubled newspapers, the Berliner Zeitung and its sister publication, the Frankfurter Rundschau, as well as Der Spiegel, a leftwing magazine based in Hamburg that has long served as the mouthpiece for German multiculturalism.

In a January 4, 2012 interview with the Berliner Zeitung andFrankfurter Rundschau, Murck said the owners of anti-Islam blogs "have a disturbed relationship to the democratic constitutional state" and often promote "infringements of human rights protected under our constitution."

Murck continued: "I also see evidence of criminal relevance, such as making threats and public invitations to crime." He said criticism of Muslims and Islam constitutes "an attack against the freedom of religion, which is protected by Article 4 of the Basic Law."

The Berliner Zeitung and Frankfurter Rundschau interview was conducted by Steven Geyer und Jörg Schindler, two journalists and propagandists who have been leading an ongoing effort to shut down a highly popular German-language Internet website called Politically Incorrect (PI), which over the years has grown into a major information resource for Germans concerned about the spread of Islam in their country.

PI's motto reads "Against the Mainstream, Pro-American, Pro-Israel, Against the Islamization of Europe" which encapsulates everything the German left abhors....

A "German man," AP tells us. Hans? Fritz? Karl? No, Halil. "German man arrested over alleged al-Qaida plot," from AP, December 8 (thanks to EH):

BERLIN (AP) — Federal prosecutors say they have arrested a 27-year-old German man on charges he was part of an al-Qaida bomb plot in Europe.

Prosecutors' spokesman Marcus Koehler said in a release Thursday that suspect Halil S. was arrested in Bochum on charges of membership in a terrorist organization.

Koehler says the suspect, whose last name was not released in accordance with German privacy laws, is accused of providing financial and logistical support for three other suspects arrested in April on suspicion they were making a bomb....

Is anyone going to stand up for the human rights of these women? Or does this not matter, because as everyone knows, Muslims are victims, never the victimizers? Eurabia Update: "Young women face forced marriage in Germany," from Agence France-Presse, November 12 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

More than 3,000 women and girls in Germany, most from Muslim families and many of them minors, faced forced marriage in the course of a year, official research released this week indicates.

The first federal study of its kind found 3,443 recorded cases in 2008 - the most recent year with sufficient data - in which people living in Germany were forced to wed or threatened with a forced marriage.

Most were between the ages of 18 and 21, although nearly a third of them were under the age of 17.

Almost all were female and the children of staunchly religious immigrant families, most frequently from countries including Turkey, Serbia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Iraq and Afghanistan....

More than half were beaten or otherwise physically abused to convince them to marry, while more than one in four were threatened with weapons or told they would be killed if they did not go through with the marriage.

Forty-four per cent of the people at threat or subjected to forced marriages held German passports....

Germany last year passed legislation against forced marriages, making it a criminal act punishable by up to five years in prison and providing means for victims taken abroad to return to Germany.

Under German privacy laws, he can only be identified by his first name and last initial. It makes for a sort of Jihadists Anonymous, in this case: Hi, Hussam!

But the question that authorities are undoubtedly interested in is: who is a Friend of Hussam S.? An update on this story. "Terrorism suspect on trial in Germany, accused of recruiting for extremist Muslim groups," from the Washington Post, November 7 (thanks to Kenneth):

BERLIN — A 25-year-old man of Palestinian background is on trial in Koblenz on charges he supported terrorism and recruited members for Islamic extremist groups.
The suspect, a Syrian-born stateless man identified only as Hussam S. in accordance with German privacy laws, went on trial Monday on accusations he posted videos, audio messages and texts online praising jihad, or holy war.
Prosecutors say he published 78 such messages between Sept. 2007 and Dec. 2009, and seven videos of attacks and beheadings intended to recruit members for al-Qaida and other terrorist groups.
He’s been in custody since his arrest on July 4, 2010 in southwestern Germany and faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
The man has lived in Germany since 1990.

Arid Uka claims he was "radicalized" by what he thought was a video of U.S. soliders raping a Muslim girl -- actually footage from an American antiwar movie -- and went on his rampage the next day. However, Uka was also railing against the "kuffar" on Facebook, and said he wanted to "do his bit for jihad."

Uka has also said he no longer believes in violent jihad, but the father of one of the victims sees through the crocodile tears below: "he is unemotional, he has not looked up during the witness testimonies, and I think he does not have any regrets about what he’s done."

"US airman: Gunman had ‘hate in his eyes’ when he shot 2 servicemen at Frankfurt airport," from the Associated Press, October 24:

FRANKFURT, Germany — A U.S. airman who survived an attack by a radical Islamist that left two fellow servicemen dead told a German court Monday that he looked the gunman in the face and saw “hate in his eyes.”
Staff Sgt. Trevor Brewer, 23, was on a U.S. Air Force bus at Frankfurt airport when Arid Uka, a 21-year-old Kosovo Albanian, began shooting. Brewer was unhurt as Uka’s 9mm pistol jammed due to a defective cartridge.
He told the court that he had ducked behind his seat after he heard the shots, then came face to face with Uka.
“When I looked up, the pistol was in my face. I heard the words ‘Allahu Akbar’ and the pistol went ‘click,’” Brewer said. “Allahu Akbar” means “God is great” in Arabic.
Uka is charged with murder for the March 2 slayings of Senior Airman Nicholas J. Alden, 25, from South Carolina, and Airman 1st Class Zachary R. Cuddeback, 21, from Virginia. He also faces three counts of attempted murder.
German investigators say Uka was a lone attacker who had become radicalized by reading and watching Islamist propaganda on the Internet.
Brewer, who is from Gray, Tennessee, testified that he saw “hate in his eyes” as he stood face to face with Uka.
“I stood up to take him out ... or to seize the weapon,” Brewer said. “He said ‘Allahu Akbar’ again and the gun clicked again.”
Uka fled and Brewer gave chase but slipped and fell behind. He ran into the airport and watched police arrest Uka.
“With my job, we expect danger,” he said. “We expect to fight a war and possibly lose our lives. But we don’t expect that in Europe or America.”
Uka briefly made eye contact across the courtroom with Cuddeback’s father but otherwise looked down at the table in front of him during the testimony and showed no emotion.
He gave a teary confession at the trial’s opening in August, saying that the night before he had seen a video on Facebook that purported to show American soldiers raping a teenage Muslim girl. It turned out to be a scene from the 2007 Brian De Palma anti-war film “Redacted,” taken out of context.
Uka has told the court that the video prompted him to do anything possible to prevent American soldiers from going to Afghanistan. Before opening fire, he asked if the group of airmen were heading for Afghanistan, and was told they were.
Under German law, the court is still required to hear all evidence in the case even though Uka has confessed. [...]
Airman Cuddeback’s father, Robert Cuddeback of Millerton, New York, sat as co-plaintiff at the prosecution’s table, as allowed under German law. An Army veteran, the elder Cuddeback wore the Gold Star lapel pin given to family members of fallen military personnel.
Airman Cuddeback was awarded the Purple Heart, the U.S. military’s decoration for soldiers wounded or killed in action.
Robert Cuddeback said he came to Germany to support Brewer and other servicemen testifying in the case. He said it was “very difficult” to be in the same room with Uka.
“It’s surreal for me, being here, and actually looking Uka in the eyes,” he said. “I can tell you I think that he is unemotional, he has not looked up during the witness testimonies, and I think he does not have any regrets about what he’s done.”
He said he hopes the court sentences Uka to life in prison.
Uka faces a life sentence upon conviction but any cooperation with authorities could lower the amount of time he would have to serve before parole can be considered to as little as 15 years. The judge in the case has said Uka’s confession is not complete because he has not said where he obtained the weapon.

Uka and Roth.jpgUka and his attorney: Cover your head, Infidel temptress

He didn't say anything about rejecting non-violent attempts to impose Sharia and subjugate Infidels, and of course, the clueless authorities didn't think to ask him. "Germany Shooter No Longer Believes in Jihad," from VOA News, October 5:

The Kosovo Albanian man on trial for killing two U.S. airmen at Germany's Frankfurt Airport in March says he no longer believes in jihad, or holy war.

While Arid Uka still prays and considers himself a Muslim, he said Wednesday he was duped by extremist propaganda and no longer believes his religion permits violence, except in self-defense. He added that shooting the airmen was not permitted by his religion.

Uka is on trial in Frankfurt for two counts of murder. He is also facing three counts of attempted murder after wounding two other airmen and firing at a third, who survived when Uka's gun jammed.

Uka, 21, confessed to the attacks at the opening of his trial, saying he was motivated by Islamist websites calling for jihad against American military forces. The day before his attack Uka watched a website video he believed showed U.S. soldiers raiding a home in Afghanistan and raping an Afghan girl. The video was actually a scene from an American anti-war movie Redacted that was taken out of context.

U.S. federal prosecutors say Uka chanted "God is great" in Arabic while he was shooting....

There was a jihad murder in Frankfurt last March. The jihadist murderer was inspired by a jihadist rapper in Germany. They've seen Islamic honor killing. In response, German authorities are stepping up monitoring of mosques and of Islamic communities in Germany, right?

Of course not. Get real. They're planning surveillance of "Islamophobes" -- i.e., those who want to resist the jihad and the advance of Sharia oppression in Germany. Germany Suicide Watch Update: "Authorities Debate Surveillance of Islamophobes," from Spiegel, September 27 (thanks to all who sent this in):

Officials from the BfV, Germany's domestic intelligence agency, will discuss the country's increasingly vocal Islamophobe scene at a meeting on Thursday. There have been calls to put right-wing populist and anti-Muslim groups under increased surveillance.

Islamophobes in Germany could come under increased surveillance by the country's domestic intelligence agency. There are concerns that the anti-Muslim scene is becoming increasingly dangerous, and some intelligence officials want it to be subject to greater scrutiny, despite stringent German privacy laws.

The subject will be discussed at a meeting on Thursday between the president of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), Heinz Fromm, and the agency's leaders in the 16 German states. Officials in Bavaria are considering putting right-wing populists under observation as a new form of extremism, while Hamburg has declared it is watching an internet discussion forum similar to anti-Islamic website "Politically Incorrect" (PI).

A spokesman from the North Rhine-Westphalia interior ministry told the Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper that PI was not currently under observation by intelligence agents, but that the blog was being read closely and that the opinions and comments published on it were "undemocratic." The xenophobic comments were calculated to "incite young people", the spokesman added.

Most states are reluctant, however, and the federal interior ministry has also not yet committed itself on the matter. In essence, the question is whether the hatred of Muslims is enough to endanger freedom of religion and international understanding -- or whether it is a radical but legitimate expression of opinion by individual authors within the limits of the constitution.

Are Muslims in Germany being murdered? Brutalized? Or are the victims of jihad the only ones about whom that can be said?

And he obviously decided that they were. How did Arid Uka come to misunderstand the Religion of Peace™ so spectacularly? Would any of the vaunted moderates of the Islamic establishment in the West care to explain? Honest Ibe? Boy Reza? Brave Ahmed? "Man of Peace" Rauf? Anyone? Anyone? "Frankfurt shooter deep into jihad: prosecutors," from The Local, September 14 (thanks to all who sent this in):

German prosecutors on Wednesday said the Kosovar man accused of killing two US airmen at Frankfurt’s Airport in March had a long fascination with Islamist propaganda, contradicting his previous statements.

Arid Uka, 21, has admitted to shooting and killing Senior Airman Nicholas J. Alden, 25, and Airman 1st Class Zachary R. Cuddeback, 21, as they prepared to depart to Afghanistan. Two other military personnel were wounded in what has been called the first ever jihadist attack on German soil. As Uka tried to shoot a fifth person, his gun jammed, according to authorities.

In court last month he said that his motivation for the shooting was essentially spontaneous – inspired by a Islamist propaganda video on the internet falsely claiming to show an Afghan woman raped by US soldiers.

But prosecutors Wednesday showed evidence that Uka had been radicalized long before. Establishing that he had a long-term hatred of the US military could make it easier to prove motive and intent and get a longer sentence if Uka is convicted. He faces up to a life sentence in prison.

The prosecutors introduced internet chat logs from a year before the shooting, showing Uka had spoken with friends online about Islamist violence.

In the conversations he debated with acquaintances over whether violent attacks were justified in Islam. He also discussed martyrdom, prayer practices and alleged atrocities committed by US soldiers against the Iraqi population, the chats showed.

Prosecutors believe Uka, who was born in northern Kosovo but grew up in the Frankfurt area, acted alone.

I had been set to speak at this event also, but have been ill for awhile now and wasn't able to go. The speech that I had intended to give is here. I am very sorry to have missed the event. Here is the speech Geert Wilders gave there:

Thank you for inviting me to Berlin. It is an honour to be here in this beautiful city of Berlin. When I was here last year I emphasized how important Germany is for all of us. We all benefit from a healthy, democratic, self-confident Germany.

Much has happened since my last visit. In the Netherlands we were able to achieve many amazing things. We have successfully started to roll back the process of Islamization in the Netherlands.

We have done so in a peaceful way and through the democratic process. Recently, a deranged narcissistic psychopath from Norway committed a horrible crime. In cold blood he murdered nearly eighty innocent fellow citizens. The assassin pretended to be a concerned European. He said that he had committed his atrocity because “It is meaningless to participate in the democratic process.” But he is wrong! The mass murderer from Oslo murdered and maimed, and he justified his heinous crime by denying – I quote – “that it is remotely possible to change the system democratically.” – end of quote.

But he is wrong! The Oslo murderer falsely claims to be one of us. But he is not one of us. We abhor violence. We are democrats. We believe in peaceful solutions.

The reason why we reject Islam is exactly Islam’s violent nature. We believe in democracy. We fight with the force of our conviction, but we never use violence. Our commitment to truth, human dignity and a just and honourable defence of the West does not allow us to use violence nor to give in to cynicism and despair. We cherish the tradition of Aleksander Solzhenitsyn, Jelena Bonner, Lech Walesa and Ronald Reagan. These heroes defeated a totalitarian ideology by the power of their conviction and without firing a single shot. As the ex-Muslim and Islam-critic Ali Sina said in a reaction to the Oslo atrocity: “We don’t raise a sword against darkness; we lit a light.”

So it is. We lit the light of the truth. And the truth will set us free.

The truth is that Islam can be successfully fought with democratic means. We do so in the Netherlands. You can do so, too, in Germany! Let me tell you what we have achieved in the Netherlands since my last visit to Berlin, less than one year ago. It will encourage you. What can be done in the Netherlands can also be done in Germany.

My party, the Party for Freedom, which has 24 seats of the 150 seats in parliament, supports a minority government of Liberals and Christian-Democrats. We do this in return for measures to restrict immigration, roll back crime, counter cultural relativism, and restore our traditional Western freedoms, such as freedom of speech.

The Party for Freedom has been in this position for less than a year, but we are achieving great things. We have achieved that the Netherlands will soon ban the face-covering Islamic burkas and the niqabs!

We will restrict immigration from non-Western countries by up to 50% in the next four years! We are going to strip criminals who have a double nationality and who repeatedly commit serious crimes, of their Dutch nationality!

The Party for Freedom is bringing a message of hope to the Netherlands. The new policies will place more demands on immigrants. Integration will not be tailored to different groups anymore. There will be a tougher approach to immigrants who disobey the law. Those who lower their chances of employment by the way they dress, will see their access to welfare payments diminished.

We have also achieved that anti-Israeli activities will no longer be funded with Dutch taxes. So-called humanitarian aid organizations that directly or indirectly support anti-Israel boycotts, divestments and sanctions and that deny Israel’s right to exist will no longer get government funding.

The Dutch government will boycott the United Nation’s Durban III meeting against racial discrimination because it has been transformed into a tribunal for accusations against Israel. The government will strengthen our political and economic relations with Israel. Investment rather than divestment will be our policies towards Israel.

We stand with Israel. We love Israel. Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East. Israel is part of our civilization.

My friends, what the Party for Freedom has achieved, shows that it can be done. To borrow a phrase from President Obama: Yes, we can! We can stop the islamization of our societies. The Dutch example shows that we can win. David can defeat Goliath!

Last July, the Dutch government even did something which not a single nation has dared to do before. It spoke out firmly against the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. The OIC is an international organization of 57 Islamic countries, most of them barbaric tyrannies. This OIC constitutes the largest voting bloc in the United Nation. It had criticised the fact that Dutch judges had acquitted me of all charges of group insult and incitement to hatred and discrimination. But the Dutch government made it clear to the OIC that freedom of speech will not be muzzled in the Netherlands. It told the OIC very bluntly: “The Dutch government dissociates itself fully from the request to silence a politician.” – end of quote. We will never submit to the Islamic OIC bullies!

As you probably know, for almost two years I went through the ordeal of being a suspect in a criminal case. I was dragged to court in Amsterdam on the accusation of hate speech crimes. Last June, this legal charade ended with a full acquittal.

The Dutch people learned through my acquittal that political debate has not been stifled in their country.

My acquittal was a victory for freedom of speech. The Dutch people also learned that they are allowed to speak critically about Islam. They learned that resistance against Islamization is not a crime. They learned that there is hope and that liberation is near.

My acquittal marks the turning of the tide. Not only in the Netherlands, but in the whole of Europe. It is the first breach of the dyke. We have started the roll-back operation. We have sent a message to the ideologues of Islam: Don’t tread on us!

My acquittal has a significance which far surpasses the Netherlands. It has a meaning for the whole of Europe and the free world. My acquittal marks the end of an evolution whereby our civil liberties in Europe are constantly being restricted in order not to offend Islam and anger Islamic fanatics.

My acquittal legitimizes criticism of Islam. It does so also in Germany and everywhere else.

Indeed, why should you Germans not enjoy the same rights as the Dutch! If peaceful and democratic resistance to Islamization is not a crime in the Netherlands, it should not be a crime in Germany either.

So, here is my message to you: Continue your fight for freedom and freedom of speech! Do not let your politicians and judges grant you fewer rights than the Dutch!

Do not let yourselves be intimidated by Islamic or leftist opponents who shriek and yell. Do not let yourselves be intimidated by media who claim that a murderer who has lost his belief in the democratic process has anyhow been influenced by us.

My friends, when I visited you last year, even in my wildest dreams I could not have imagined that we would have been able to influence government policies in the way we have done. That is why I tell you: Never give in to the bullies! Never give up hope. Never despair! You can still turn the tide! One can always turn the tide!

It is true: Germany has been less fortunate than the Netherlands.

When I was here last year, Tilo Sarrazin had just published his book “Deutschland schafft sich ab.” Sarrazin’s book was a bestseller. It hit a nerve. It sold over one-and-a-half million copies. This shows that German society is ripe for change. But politically Sarrazin’s book has changed nothing yet. On the contrary, the German political elite raised the speed of Islamization in Germany. Bundespresident Wulff said “Islam is a part of Germany.” Chancellor Merkel said that multiculturalism is an absolute failure, but she continues to defend Turkey’s entry into the EU. The spread of Islam continues unabated in the German class rooms, on Germany’s streets, through the construction of new mosques, etcetera, etcetera.

Your situation has worsened because you do not have a party – yet – with enough electoral support to influence German politics for the better. Germany needs a rightwing party that is not tainted by ties to neo-Nazis and by anti-Semitism, that is decent and respectable, but also firm. René Stadtkewitz is working very hard to make Die Freiheit as successful as the Party for Freedom in the Netherlands. René, we are here to help you! Because Germany deserves better than what it gets today!

My friends, your country is the political backbone of Europe.

Germany is the most populous country in Europe. Germany is the economic motor of Europe. If Germany is sick, we are all sick.

Last year, I urged you: Stop being ashamed of Germany. It is unfair to reduce German patriotism to national-socialism, just as it is unfair to reduce Russia to Stalinism. Be proud of your country. Only if the Germans have pride in Germany, they will be prepared to stand for Germany and to defend Germany. And you must stand for Germany, just as the Party for Freedom in the Netherlands stands for the Netherlands. We must all stand for the survival of our nation-states because our nation-states embody the democratic liberties which we enjoy.

Without the nation-state there can be no real national political freedom. That is why we must be good patriots. Patriotism is often branded as fascism. But patriotism is no fascism. On the contrary. Every democrat and defender of freedom must by definition be a patriot. A soul needs a body. The spirit of political liberty cannot flourish outside the body of the nation-state. The nation-state is the political body in which we live. That is why we must preserve and cherish the nation-state. So that we can pass on the liberty and the democracy which we enjoy to our children.

Without a nation-state, without self-governance, without self-determination there can be no security for a people nor preservation of its identity. This was the insight which led the Zionists to re-establish the state of Israel. Theodore Herzl said that there had to be a Jewish state because – I quote – “what we want is a new blossoming of the Jewish spirit.”

Dear friends, we urgently need a new blossoming of the German spirit. For decades, the Germans have been ashamed of themselves. They preferred to be Europeans rather than Germans. And they have paid a heavy price for it. We have all paid a heavy price for it.

Europe is not a nation; it is a cluster of nations. The strength of Europe is its diversity. We are one family but we live in different bodies. Our cultures are branches of a common Judeo-Christian and humanist culture, but we have different national cultural identities. That is how it should be.

Uniformity is a characteristic of Islam, but not of Europe. Islam eradicated the national identities of the peoples it conquered. The Coptic identity of Egypt, the Indian identity of Pakistan, the Assyrian identity of Iraq, the Persian identity of Iran, they were all wiped away, cracked down upon, or discriminated against until this very day. Islam wants all nations replaced by the so-called Ummah, the common identity of the Nation of Islam to which all have to be subservient and into which all national identities have to vanish.

Islam tried to conquer Europe, but never succeeded so far. That is why we Europeans were able to develop our different identities as nation-states. If we want to hold on to these we must stand together against the forces which threaten our identities. Today we are confronted by two dangerous forces: Islamization and Europeanization.

When I was here last year, I spoke at length about the threat of Islam. Today, I want to draw your attention to the threat of Europeanization. By Europeanization I mean the ideology which posits that our sovereign nation-states have to submerge in a pan-European superstate.

The European Union’s Founding Fathers held that in order to avoid a future war in Europe, Europe’s nations, and especially Germany, had to be encapsulated in what the Rome Treaty called “an ever closer union among the peoples of Europe.” Robert Schuman said that the EU’s aim was – I quote – “to make war not only unthinkable but materially impossible.” – end of quote.

The Eurocrats think that nation states in general – and especially Germany, Europe’s largest nation-state – are the problem. They are wrong. The real cause of the Second World War had not been the German nation state – it had been Nazi totalitarianism.

There is nothing wrong with Germany. The cause of the war was the Nazi ideology. The remedy against totalitarianism is not building a superstate. The remedy is introducing more direct forms of democracy at the lowest possible levels. Instead of depriving Germany and other nation-states of their sovereignty, the post-war leaders should have introduced a Swiss-like system in our countries. Small units should have a large degree of local sovereignty. The individual citizen should be given a direct democratic say over his own fate and that of his community.

Instead, the peoples of Europe were robbed of their sovereignty, which was transferred to far-away Brussels. Decisions are now being taken behind closed doors by unelected bureaucrats. This is not the kind of government we want!

We want less bureaucracy! We want more democracy!

We want less Europe! We want to hold on to our sovereignty. We want home rule! We want to remain independent and free! We want to be the masters in our own house!

In December 1991, the Maastricht Treaty called for a single European currency. The Dutch guilder and the D-mark were sacrificed on the altar of European unification. Helmut Kohl sold this project to the German people as – I quote – “a matter of war or peace.” – end of quote. The euro was presented as “an angel of peace” which the Germans had to sponsor by giving up the mark. During the past six decades German politicians have told the Germans that the nation state, and especially Germany, was so dangerous that it had to be emasculated. The Germans had to become Europeans instead of Germans. To achieve this political project, national and monetary sovereignty was relinquished. Economic and national interests were sacrificed on the political altar of so-called Europeanization.

All the countries which joined the euro lost the power to adjust their currency to their own economic needs. They have all suffered as a consequence. The currency of some countries is undervalued, the currency of others is overvalued; they all have to share in carrying the burden of other countries, even if the latter are suffering from self-inflicted policies, corruption or fraud. The European monetary system has allowed some countries to get a free ride at the expense of others, while those who cheat are in a position to blackmail those who have to foot the bill. This charade has to stop!

The European monetary system is deeply flawed. It is also immoral. As Theodore Herzl said “The character of a people may be ruined by charity.” This applies for those at the receiving end of charity, but also for those who donate it. The so-called pan-European solidarity is literally ruining us! Germany has paid enough for Europe already!

The same applies for the Netherlands. Our citizens do not have to pay the debts of others!

My friends, your party Die Freiheit embodies the best hope for Germany. Because your party is the only party in Germany which has the courage to state loud and clear that countries which cannot pay their debts should leave the euro. I fully agree.

My friends, time is running out. We have to act for the sake of democracy and the future prosperity of our children. The former Soviet dissident Vladimir Bukovsky warns that rather than preventing war, the European project makes conflicts more likely. He draws a parallel between the EU and the former Soviet Union which also suppressed feelings of national unity. When economy reality defeated the Soviets’ political project, the suppressed feelings of national identity bounced back with a vengeance and destroyed the Union. Bukovksy fears that if we do not stop the European moloch from expanding the same thing might happen in Europe.

The European leaders state that the only way to solve the current crisis is more European governance. They advocate more powers for Brussels. They are wrong. More Europe only makes matters worse. We have to oppose their attempt of further centralization.

We do not want more Europe! The EU lacks democracy, accountability and transparency. That is why we reject it. We want less Europe! Let us hope that next Wednesday the German Constitutional Court protects national sovereignty.

As a national legislator in the Netherlands I experience day by day how little we still have to say about our own fate. We are expected to rubberstamp laws which have been made by the EU Council of Ministers. The 27 EU commissioners convene behind closed doors with their colleagues. They negotiate in secret and then emerge to announce their agreement and present it. That is how the system works.

Recently, your Chancellor, Frau Merkel, went to Paris. Together with President Sarkozy she announced plans for an economic government of the eurozone.

We oppose this. We want the national parliaments to decide about our economic policies. We do not want to spend our taxpayers’ money on eurozone countries, such as Greece. Let those who have cheated us, who have mismanaged their economy or who have foolishly lived beyond their means, take care of themselves.

Moreover, the EU treaties forbid bailouts.

The Party for Freedom opposes every bail out. The Dutch minority government will never be able to count on our support in this regard. Today its wrongheaded euro policies are supported by the europhile leftist parties. I repeat: We will never support the Dutch government’s approval of the bailouts, not even if the government would lose the support of the left.

We have voted, and we will vote, against every plan to bail out other countries. Sovereign countries have to take care of their own needs. That is what sovereignty is about: freedom and the ability to take care of oneself.

Our peoples resent the fact that they have to pay for others. Our peoples resent the permanent alienation of power from their nation-states. They care about their nation because they care about democracy and freedom and the wellbeing of their children. They see their democratic rights and their age-old liberties symbolized in their national flag.

But there is more. National identity also ties an individual to an inheritance, a tradition, a loyalty, and a culture. National identity is also an inclusive identity: It considers everyone to be equal, whatever his religion or race, who is willing to assimilate into a nation by sharing the fate and future of a people.

My friends, we need to give political power back to the nation-state, in the name of democracy, in the name of freedom, in the name of human dignity. By defending the nation-states we defend our own identity. By defending our identity we defend our liberties. By defending our liberty we defend our dignity.

I urge you: Stand up for the nation-state. Be proud of your country!

In his Farewell Address as American President, Ronald Reagan said that the thing he was most proud of in his presidency was – I quote – “the resurgence of national pride that I called, ‘The New Patriotism.’” – end of quote.

Europe needs new patriotisms. Europe needs dozens of new patriotisms. We need True Finns, and True Danes, True Frenchmen, and True Irishmen, True Dutchmen, and, my friends, we need True Germans!

Reagan said that we had to teach our children what our country is, what it stands for and what it represents in the long history of the world. He said that Americans need – I quote – “a love of country and an appreciation of its institutions.”

Reagan’s words apply to us, Europeans, too. We need a resurgence of national pride, a love of country and institutions. Our national parliaments are our democratic institutions. We must defend them.

Ladies and gentlemen, dear friends, I have said enough. It is time to act. We must make haste. Time is running out for Germany, for the Netherlands, for all the other great nations of Europe. As Ronald Reagan said: “We need to act today, to preserve tomorrow”.

Here is a short summary of five things which we need to do in order to preserve our freedoms.

First, we must defend freedom of speech. It is the most important of our liberties. Second, we must end cultural relativism. Our Western culture is far superior to other cultures. Third, we must stop Islamization. More Islam means less freedom. There is enough Islam in Europe already. Immigrants must assimilate and adapt to our values. Fourth, we must restore the right to decide about our own money. We should not pay the debts of others. The survival of the euro should not be used as an excuse to reward countries which have shown that they were not worth to belong to the eurozone. Fifth, we must restore the supremacy and sovereignty of the nation-state. Our nations are the legacy which our fathers bestowed on us and which we want to bestow on our children. We are the free men and women of the West. We are the true men and women of the West. We do not stand for a superstate. We stand for our own country.

You stand for Germany. I stand for the Netherlands. Others stand for Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, France, Spain, and all these other beautiful freedom-loving nations of Europe. Together we represent the nations of Europe. Together we stand.

We will stand firm. We will survive. We will defend our freedoms. We will remain free.

Thank you very much.

Don't worry. They were probably greasy Islamophobes on a false-flag operation. Go back to sleep. "Two Terror Suspects Arrested in Berlin," from Spiegel, September 8 (thanks to Pamela Geller):

Police in Berlin arrested two terror suspects on Thursday, raiding their apartments and a Muslim cultural center. The two men allegedly amassed chemicals that could be used to make bombs.

Just ahead of the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States, security forces in Berlin may have prevented another possible attack. On Thursday morning, police in the German capital arrested two men suspected of gathering chemicals that could be used to build a bomb.

A 24-year-old German citizen of Lebanese descent and a 28-year-old from the Gaza Strip were apprehended following an investigation by police and state prosecutors that has been underway for some time, a police spokesman said.

They are believed to have amassed chemical substances that could have been used in the preparation of a bomb, he said. Authorities declined to reveal further details about the potential explosive.

While a police spokesman confirmed to SPIEGEL ONLINE that the two men had acquired chemicals, he said they had not begun building a bomb. They presented no immediate danger, he said. Investigators also believe the suspects are isolated individuals with no known links to militant groups or extremists abroad, he added....

What? Then how did they come to be "radicalized"? Surely not from...studying the Qur'an and Sunnah!

The announcement came as investigators were simultaneously conducting a search at a Muslim cultural center in the city's Wedding district, along with the suspects' apartments in the Neukölln and Kreuzberg districts.

"The Islamic culture center is not under suspicion in this investigation," police spokesman Thomas Neuendorf told broadcaster N24, explaining that the two suspects were simply known to have spent time there....

As has been the case in Britain, Sharia's proponents got their foot in the door with pleas for just a little Sharia, just for a few community matters. Then, the reality hits that Sharia is a package deal: as even Imam Rauf has noted, "it is not possible in principle to limit the Shari'ah to some aspects of human life and leave out others."

And so commences a process of "jurisdiction creeping." There is no such thing as "just a little" Sharia. "Islamic 'Arbitrators' Shadow German Law," by Maximillian Popp for Der Spiegel, September 1:

In mosques or tearooms, Muslim elders dispense verdicts that keep their communities in line. They mediate between aggrieved immigrants, sometimes at the expense of German justice. Some say the arbitrations ease caseloads in court, but others see the creeping advance of Sharia law.
The men ambushed Fuat S. on the street, then locked him in a basement and tortured him. Fuat was later admitted to the hospital in Berlin's Neukölln district with gaping wounds, contusions and broken bones.
Police took his statement concerning the attack the same night. Fuat S., a gambler and a recipient of "Hartz IV" -- Germany's social welfare benefits for the long-term unemployed -- gave a detailed statement. He'd conned an acquaintance, Mustafa O., out of €150,000 ($217,000) and the man was taking his revenge, Fuat said, together with his three brothers. They hit his hands, arms and knees with a hammer and threatened to shoot him.
The public prosecutor's office in Berlin initiated proceedings against Mustafa O., a Palestinian man who had come to their attention repeatedly for violent acts. Police had investigated him in a number of cases, and now prosecutors saw an opportunity to convict a dangerous repeat offender. But when the case began, Fuat S., the principle witness, unexpectedly withdrew his testimony. It was not Mustafa who had tortured him, he said, but an Albanian man he didn't know. Mustafa, he said, wasn't even in the basement at the time. This was clearly a lie, as police analysis of telephone data showed, but the judge was forced to acquit the defendant due to lack of evidence.
The decision, in fact, was reached by a different judge. According to police, the victim's and the perpetrator's families had met at a restaurant in the presence of an Islamic "justice of the peace," an arbitrator who mediates conflicts between Muslims. The two families had reached a compromise: Fuat would drop the charges, and in exchange be relieved of part of his debt.

Helping to create conditions for the collapse of civil society:

According to Bernhard Mix, the public prosecutor in charge of the case, Fuat's false testimony was part of a deal between the families. "It's difficult to establish the truth using legal means, when the perpetrator and the victim reach an agreement," he says.
Judges Without Laws
Politicians and social workers tend to focus on forced marriages and honor killings, but the baleful influence of these Islamic arbitrators has gone largely unnoticed by the public. Joachim Wagner, an author and television journalist of many years, has taken a closer look at the phenomenon in his book "Richter ohne Gesetz" ("Judges without Laws"). Reconstructing Mustafa O.'s case, he reaches the conclusion that "the Islamic parallel justice system is becoming a threat to the constitutional legal system."
These justices of the peace don't wear robes. Their courtrooms are mosques or teahouses. They draw their authority not from the law, but from their standing within the community. Most of them are senior members of their families, or imams, and some even fly in from Turkey or Lebanon to resolve disputes. Muslims seek them out when families argue, when daughters take up with nonbelievers or when clans clash. They often trust these arbitrators more than they trust the state.
The late juvenile court judge Kirsten Heisig drew attention to this problem a year ago: "The law is slipping out of our hands. It's moving to the streets, or into a parallel system where an imam or another representative of the Koran determines what must be done."...

There is more.

The trajectory of Cuspert's life is an interesting insight into the Leftist/Islamic supremacist alliance, showing how rootless Western Leftists can drift into jihad: he started out marching against the Persian Gulf War and ended up a full-blown jihadi. More on this story. "German Officials Alarmed by Ex-Rapper’s New Message: Jihad," by Souad Mekhennet for the New York Times, August 31 (thanks to Pamela Geller):

BERLIN — The man German security officials call a major security risk looks like a figure from a rap video, especially with the tattoos on his hands. The right one says “STR8,” and the left one “Thug.”

“This is from the days when I lived the life of an unbeliever,” said the man, Denis Mamadou Cuspert, as he clenched his fists and looked at the tattoos. “Allah will erase them from me one day.”

Mr. Cuspert, once a popular rapper in Germany, today is one of the best-known singers of nasheeds, or Islamic devotional music, in German. Security officials say, though, that he is an influential figure who incites violence and unrest through inflammatory videos and fiery speeches that praise terrorists and attack the West.

German authorities say people like him inspired the fatal shootings of two American airmen at the Frankfurt airport in March. The 21-year-old man accused of the killings, Arid Uka, whose trial began in Frankfurt on Wednesday, has said he opened fire on a busload of American service members after seeing a video that claimed to show Muslim women being raped by men in United States military uniforms. American officials have said the video — which Mr. Cuspert acknowledged posting on his Facebook page, and which Mr. Uka copied — was staged by militants.

The "video that claimed to show Muslim women being raped by men in United States military uniforms" was actually footage from the 2007 anti-Iraq war film Redacted, directed by Brian de Palma. So the mainstream media should be flooded with investigative reports about how Brian de Palma's work incites to violence, and should be censored -- right?

That won't happen, of course. The New York Times and NBC News and all the rest of those who were quick to accuse me of complicity in murder because a madman in Norway who wanted to partner with jihadis also mentioned me in his ideologically incoherent "manifesto"

Mr. Uka said he was listening on his iPod to nasheeds calling for opposition against occupation forces and the West as he traveled to the airport just before the shootings. “It made me really angry,” Mr. Uka told the judge on Wednesday, referring to the songs’ lyrics. During a tearful confession, he said that Islam had given him strength after a period of depression, but that he now realized that “I have damaged my faith.” [...]

In an interview at a mosque here, Mr. Cuspert denied any direct connection to Mr. Uka, though he said he supported his actions. “The brother hasn’t killed civilians,” he said. “He has killed soldiers who had been on their way to kill Muslims.”

That is similar to the message in videos posted on YouTube and jihadi Web sites that have made Mr. Cuspert popular among Al Qaeda supporters in Europe and elsewhere. As evidence of his reach, a man who goes by the name Abu Bilal in the tribal areas in the Afghanistan-Pakistan border region said of Mr. Cuspert: “The brother’s voice has reached the hearts of many people here, too.”

Mr. Cuspert gives speeches all over Germany, and young people are drawn to elements of his personal story, including his membership in Berlin street gangs — he said he used to be a “real bad boy” — and the notion that he finally found the “right way.”

Mr. Cuspert says that Shariah, the legal code of Islam based on the Koran, permits self-defense. “My duty is to use my voice for telling people the truth, and the truth is, jihad is a duty,” he said.

Security officials say that young people who are clicking on his videos do not realize that what they are listening to has been inspired by a radical jihadist theology based on the fundamentalist Salafi branch of Islam.

Security officials also cannot point to any comprehensive, Qur'an-based Islamic refutation of this "radical jihadist theology." That moderate form of Islam remains the ever-elusive unicorn that everyone believes in but no one has actually ever seen.

At the end of June, Mr. Cuspert recorded a nasheed that praised Al Qaeda’s late leader, Osama bin Laden. “Your name flows in our blood,” he sings.

“I have sworn allegiance to Mullah Muhammad Omar, emir of the Taliban,” he said in the interview, smiling. “He is one of the greatest men.”

In his speeches, Mr. Cuspert has expressed outrage over United States drone strikes in Pakistan’s tribal areas, Yemen and Somalia, and has said that his biggest wish right now is the death of President Obama, who he said was an enemy of Islam...

On Aug. 18, Mr. Cuspert was tried here on charges of possessing illegal weapons. Prosecutors said that he held a gun in a video and that the police found rounds of ammunition during a search of his apartment. German security officials said they sought to jail Mr. Cuspert and stop his “video propaganda for jihad.” The trial judge convicted Mr. Cuspert, but spared him a prison sentence, ordering him to pay a fine of 1,800 euros, about $2,600.

Before he took his new name, Abou Maleeq, Mr. Cuspert had another life. He was born and reared in Berlin by his German mother. His father, who was from Ghana, left the family when Mr. Cuspert was a baby.

When conflicts increased at home with his stepfather, a former American Army soldier and strict disciplinarian, Mr. Cuspert was sent to a home for difficult children. After five years, he returned home. “I grew up with racism,” Mr. Cuspert said. “Though my mother is German, some teachers back then would call me ‘Negro’ and treat all Muslim kids bad.”

His argument with American foreign policy grew in 1990 in the months leading up to the first Persian Gulf war, and he joined demonstrations in Berlin. “We marched, shouted and burned the American flag,” he said, smiling.

The 2003 invasion of Iraq became a source for new conflicts with his stepfather. He joined youth gangs, Mr. Cuspert said, because he was in search of an identity; he found it in the streets of Berlin with the children of Arab and Turkish immigrants.

He said that from an early age he trained himself in Thai boxing, tae kwon do and Brazilian jiujitsu. Social workers in Germany sent him to a special farm in Namibia that sought to rehabilitate juvenile delinquents.

In 1995, he found a new outlet for his anger: as the rapper Deso Dogg. He said, “My songs were about the time in prison, racism, war.”

His music career soared. He went on tour with rappers like DMX and worked on the soundtrack for a German film. But after surviving a car accident, he started questioning his lifestyle and turned to Islam for answers. In 2010, he ended his career as a rapper and turned his focus to fighting the United States and the West.

The message on his cellphone’s voice mail system makes no secret about his ultimate aim in life. “The martyrdom is the most beautiful,” he says in his recording. “Allah is the greatest.”

SpencerStadtkewitz3.jpg

Berlin, August 30, 2011 - René Stadtkewitz, top candidate of the civil rights party DIE FREIHEIT (FREEDOM), will be the first and only German politician to speak at Ground Zero in New York on the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Stadtkewitz, a longtime member of the Berlin House of Representatives, announced today that he gladly accepted the invitation from the organization “Stop Islamization of America” (SIOA) and the well-known political activist Pamela Geller.

“The three most important terrorists of the 9/11 attacks had studied in Hamburg and were also radicalized there. Germany must be made aware of this,” said Stadtkewitz. “But a year after the publication of Thilo Sarrazin's book, Deutschland Schafft sich ab, (Germany is Eliminating Itself) nothing has changed here. We must not only openly debate the political ideology of Islam; we must also consider the political consequences of such an ideology. As opposed to President Wulffs statement in his public address on the 20th anniversary of German reunification, Islam itself can never belong to Germany.”

Stadtkewitz also intends to use the trip to consult with New York's politicians and police officers concerning the zero-tolerance strategy in the fight against crime. “We also have to oppose the violent criminals in Berlin and the growing left-wing extremists in a fast and hard way. The current conditions are no longer tolerable.”

DIE FREIHEIT in Berlin will broadcast the memorial live from the U.S. The location will be announced shortly prior to the beginning of the event.

Smiling no more

Now, according to a BBC report, he says, "Today I can't understand myself how I could have acted this way."

If one believes his story, he's not only a murderer, but a gullible idiot. However, prior coverage found him in "radical" company on Facebook, and he said he wanted to "do [his] bit for Jihad," and that he "did it for Allah." During the crime, he shouted "Allahu Akbar."

But where he had been smiling mildly in the DPA photo above (reposted as-is, with his face partially pixellated), today he made an "emotional confession." "German Islamist terrorist confesses and blames fake jihad rape video for inspiring his crime," from the Telegraph, August 31 (thanks to Twostellas):

In an emotional confession to a Frankfurt court as his murder trial began on Wednesday, Arid Uka said he had become radicalised by online extremist propaganda before carrying out a lone gun attack US Air Force bus in March.
“What I did was wrong, but I cannot undo what I did,” he said.
Uka blamed a video purporting to show American servicemen raping a young Muslim girl for prompting him to try and stop other US soldiers from getting to Afghanistan.
“I thought what I saw in that video, these people would do in Afghanistan,” he told the court.
But the rape footage, billed as an authentic video entitled “what was done to our sisters,” turned out to be a fake using footage scene from the 2007 anti-Iraq war film “Redacted,” directed by Hollywood’s Brian de Palma.
“That is the irony of this case,” said Jens Joerg Hoffman, Uka’s defence lawyer. “It was an American film from a leading director that was so believable that it looked real.”
Uka is charged with two counts of murder and three of attempted murder in connection with the attack. He faces a possible life sentence....

Everyone knows that Islam is a Religion of Peace™ and that only greasy Islamophobes pause from raking in the bucks long enough to suggest otherwise, so Abdul Hakiim's conversion to Islam couldn't have anything to do with his sudden interest in setting off bombs. This one is, a Pamela Geller says, "a real headscratcher"! "The Path of a Young German Salafist," by Julia Jüttner in Spiegel, August 30 (thanks to Pamela Geller):

Robert B. wore long robes, dreamed of paradise and called himself Abdul Hakiim. He and his friend were arrested in July for trying to enter Britain with bomb-making guides and al-Qaida propaganda. They now sit in a London high-security prison. But Robert's motivations remain a mystery.

A mother can't be fooled, and a mother notices when her child goes astray, says Marlies B. That's why she called the state authorities in October 2010 and asked if she needed to be worried about her son.

Her son Robert had changed. He'd converted to Islam, forsaken pork and alcohol, and now he wore a knit wool cap and wandered the city of Solingen, northeast of Cologne, in floor-length garments. Marlies B. says she'd never seen him this way. People asked her about it, and it was embarrassing. It frightened her. [...]

He'd taken the ferry to Dover with Christian E., another convert from Solingen, who had a criminal record. At the border they told authorities they had planned to fly from Brussels to Egypt, but the tickets were too expensive. So they'd settled on Great Britain instead.

Officials searched their bags and found handbooks for jihadists, a bomb-making pamphlet called, "How to Make a Bomb in the Kitchen of Your Mom," and an essay on "39 Ways to Support Jihad," written by the radical imam Anwar al-Awlaki -- all propaganda material for al-Qaida. Both Germans were sent to Belmarsh, a high-security prison in south London, and isolated in solitary confinement. [...]

Even as a child, Robert was an outsider and was bullied and chased across the school yard. He dropped out of school in the 9th grade. When he was 17 he joined the military, with his mother's approval, and volunteered to go to Afghanistan. He dreamed of riding in a tank. But he wound up on desk duty. When this duty grew boring, he started spreading right-wing propaganda on the Internet. He hung a Hitler portrait over his bunk. He was forced to leave the army. [...]

In January 2009, Robert converted to Islam. He told his mother this in passing at lunch one day. She says she doesn't know who encouraged him to do it. Robert kept his curly hair cut short and didn't grow a beard. "He did not seem so extreme to me," she says.

She dismissed Robert's comments that she should re-orient her religion, and wear a headscarf or a burka at home, as idle chatter. She had no idea he already called himself Abdul Hakiim.

In October, he and other Muslims travelled to Egypt. "I want to learn Arabic, in order to practice my beliefs," he told his mother. She alerted German authorities, and some officials paid Robert a visit. To this day, he does not know that his mother was behind it, she says. Officials placated her by saying they had him under their radar.

Because of the unrest in Egypt, Robert took a special flight home to Germany on February 1, 2011. He checked in with his mother by phone. She cooked spaghetti with ground beef that had been slaughtered according to Islamic ritual by a special butcher in Solingen. He spent two nights in her apartment. Then he moved out, and started to live on state assistance. [...]

She now knows that before his trip to Britain he visited mosques in Cologne and Bonn. She knows he flew to Hamburg to see a presentation by Pierre Vogel, also known as Abu Hamza -- a radical German Islamic preacher and former professional boxer who had become a hero for Robert....

The new European Islam-based antisemitism asserts itself in the home of the old European National Socialist antisemitism. "Islamists hold anti-Israel march in Berlin," by Assaf Uni for Ynet News, August 28 (thanks to Pamela Geller):

Muslim hatred in heart of Europe: More than 1,000 Muslims marched Saturday in Berlin and chanted anti-Israel slogans to mark al-Quds Day, set by Iran following the Islamist revolution in the country.

The protestors in the anti-Israel rally were faced by hundreds of Israel fans who also arrived at the site.

Police in the German capital deployed in force to separate the two camps and prevent violent clashes.

The Islamic march was led by Iranian clerics, accompanied by anti-Zionist Neturei Karta Jews living in Europe.

"What's taking place in Israel is a Shoah for the Palestinians," one of the radical ultra-Orthodox Jews, Rabbi Beck, told Ynet. "We are waiting for the day Zionism collapses, and then Jews and Muslims would be able to live side by side in peace."

Sure, as long as the Jews know their place (cf. Qur'an 9:29).

While the rabbi spoke, protestors behind him were chanting "Allahu Akbar" and "Israel is a terrorist."

The rabbi has covered himself with shame.

Berlin is the third largest Turkish city after Istanbul and Ankara, and a prime example of failed multiculturism. Citizens are starting to discuss vigilantism and whether or not they should establish armed patrols. Christians "have long called for a special auxiliary police made up of volunteers who would have uniforms, batons and handcuffs."

Berlin: Citizen patrols mooted to stop car arsons, The Local, August 22:

As night-time car arsons in Berlin continue unabated, some citizens are calling for neighbourhood groups to prowl the streets looking for culprits, an idea that appears to be gaining ground.

The idea for citizen patrols has gained support during the week-long spate of arson in the German capital, which have left dozens of cars, mostly expensive models, burned out.

More than 300 vehicles have now been set alight since the beginning of the year, including five overnight Sunday. ...

Many people told the newspaper they were ready to join citizens’ groups to combat the attacks, because the government isn’t doing enough.

Some have suggested that neighbours begin carrying weapons and go on the hunt for perpetrators. Others have suggested a less vigilante-style response with simple unarmed neighbourhood patrols.

One 72-year-old who lives with his wife in the Berlin’s Westend district told Die Welt that residents have been debating what to do over the last few days. His idea is for a citizens’ patrol to go out for about an hour per night per night. It would alert police if it sees anything suspicious.

“Some residents here want to arm themselves,” he said. “What we need here is a kind of militia.”

Some people appear to be looking to London as a model, where many community groups lost confidence in police and formed successful vigilante groups to combat recent riots.

In Berlin, Burkhard Dregger, a politician with the centre-right Christian Democratic Union has long called for a special auxiliary police made up of volunteers that would have uniforms, batons and handcuffs. ..."

Neither the raid nor the target were small operations: "The raids by around 60 police officers in Baden-Württemberg under the code name 'Iron' recovered propaganda material and close to €10,000 in cash." "Raid targets suspected Islamist fund-raisers," from The Local, July 19 (thanks to Twostellas):

German police raided eight apartments and an office in the Stuttgart area on Tuesday in an operation aimed at cracking down on fund-raising for Islamic extremists abroad, although no one was arrested, authorities said.
The raids by around 60 police officers in Baden-Württemberg under the code name “Iron” recovered propaganda material and close to €10,000 in cash, public prosecutors in Stuttgart said.
The properties were used by six people including four said to be German citizens of Turkish origin, and two Turks aged between 42 and 51. One of them was an imam.

Not "youths." Will we hear next that mid-life crises cause jihad?

Police suspect them of collecting money to send abroad for terrorist purposes and to commit “seditious violence and the formation of a criminal organization.”
The Südwestrundfunk broadcaster said the main suspect was a 51-year-old who has previously been involved with a banned Islamic organization.
One of the suspects is also said to have boasted in the past that he would defend himself with weapons if police approached, which may have prompted the response by so many officers.

Don't let your mouth write checks your, uh, jihad can't cash.

Muslim leaders, for their part, have blamed "Islamophobia". "Germany says Islamic terrorism still a threat," by David Rising for the Associated Press, July 1 (thanks to JCB):

BERLIN (AP) — Germany's top security official said Friday that the terrorist threat to the country hasn't decreased and the number of radicals continues to grow, even with the death of Osama bin Laden.
Security officials saw no reason to lower Germany's threat level following the death of the al-Qaida leader, said Interior Minister Hans-Peter Friedrich, presenting the annual report by Germany's domestic intelligence agency.
"The Islamist terrorist threat is widely varied and has not concentrated on a single leader of al-Qaida for a long time," he said.
"We have had a general threat situation in Germany and Europe that has not changed for two years, but there are no concrete dangers."
Though there have been several unsuccessful or foiled attacks by Islamic radicals in Germany, the first fatalities attributed to a Muslim extremist came this year in March when a 21-year-old Kosovo-born ethnic Albanian allegedly gunned down two U.S. airmen outside Frankfurt's airport.
Overall, the number of people in Germany linked to radical Islamic groups rose to 37,470 in Germany in 2010, up from 36,270 the year before, according to the report from the Office for the Protection of the Constitution.
Most of those — 31,370 — were connected to Turkish groups, nearly all of them in Milli Gorus, a group whose founder advocates creating an Islamic state in Turkey.
Most worrying was the increase in numbers in "Salafi" groups that espouse an ultraconservative interpretation of Islam and have been especially successful at recruiting young people, said Heinz Fromm, who heads the domestic intelligence agency.
He noted that the suspect in the March killing of the two U.S. airmen outside Frankfurt's airport had allegedly been inspired by watching Salafi videos online. "Not every Salafi is a terrorist but almost every terrorist that we are aware of has had contact with a Salafi," Fromm said....

And where are Salafis getting their material from? They are not making it up, but seeking to imitate Muhammad and his first generation of followers to the letter, as even this prior media report on Salafism in Germany acknowledges: "Salafism is a strict adherence to the Koran and the earliest principles of Islam." They must have gotten a bad batch of decoder rings.

German Interior Minister Hans-Peter Friedrich says Muslims must fight against "radicalization" in their own communities. In response, Muslim leaders in Germany pledged full, open, and honest cooperation with law enforcement -- naaah, just kidding! In reality, they whined about "Islamophobia," complained that the whole community was being victimized by the fight against jihadists, and demanded that the government work to make Muslims "feel at home" in Germany. Do they need to do anything to demonstrate their loyalty to the state and rejection of all areas of Sharia that contradict German law? Why, of course they don't, you greasy Islamophobe.

"German interior minister urges Muslims to combat militancy," from Deutsche Welle, June 25:

Germany's interior minister met with Muslim community leaders to discuss how they can prevent youth radicalization. Muslim leaders countered that the responsibility lies with the government.

German Interior Minister Hans-Peter Friedrich urged the country's Muslim community on Friday to do more to prevent the spread of radicalization among its youth. He told Muslim leaders at a meeting in Berlin that families must act early to prevent young boys from turning into jihadists.

"Neither the security authorities nor ordinary Muslim citizens can do much to help," when youths radicalize, he said. "It is up to the parents and the rest of the family to be observant about what their children are up to and how they are changing." [...]

"We want to stand up to the radicalization and misuse of religion together," he said. "All citizens of this country, no matter what our political tendency or religion, must take on the fight against radicalism and terror."

During the three-hour meeting, Friedrich referred to 21-year-old Arid Uka, a Kosovar man brought up in Germany, who killed two US airmen on March 2 when he attacked a bus of American military personnel at Frankfurt Airport.

Friedrich said Uka was radicalized "not in the classical environment of a mosque or Muslim society but on the Internet."

'Stigmatizing' Muslims

Germany's political opposition denounced the meeting, saying the government ran the risk of stigmatizing all Muslims.

"If we want to isolate extremists who are prone to violence, we must support moderate Muslims and make them feel welcome in Germany," said the center-left Social Democrats parliamentary leader Thomas Oppermann.

The head of the Central Council of Muslims in Germany, Aiman Mazyek, attended the meeting, but said he thought it had the wrong focus.

"We have over 2,500 mosques and there aren't even a dozen fringe groups," he said. "We have to make it clear they are a small and dwindling group and that by talking about them and hyping them, we just strengthen them.

"That should not be the aim of a conference like this," he added.

Mazyek said the government needed to work harder on making Muslims feel at home in Germany and to campaign against Islamophobia. He said lack of integration into society was the main cause for radicalization of Muslim youths.

Mazyek added that Muslim groups had already been cooperative in the government's bid to prevent terrorism. He said that the effort should not be a "one-way street."...

Arid Uka is a Kosovar Albanian Muslim. For some odd and unexplained reason he was neither moderate nor brimming with gratitude towards Americans, as every learned analyst knows that every single Kosovar Albanian is. "Charges filed in slayings of U.S. airmen in Germany," from CNN, June 22 (thanks to Harry):

(CNN) -- A man accused of killing two United States Air Force servicemen outside an airport in Germany was charged on Tuesday in a formal complaint filed by the U.S. Department of Justice.

The suspect, Arid Uka, also known as "Abu Reyyan," was arrested in March after he allegedly opened fire on an Air Force bus outside Frankfurt International Airport on March 2.

Uka, 21, is accused of shooting and killing Nicholas Alden and Zachary Ryan Cuddeback of the U.S. Air Force and injuring two other servicemen. He is in German custody and will be brought to New York for trial, according to U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara.

According to the complaint filed Tuesday, Uka shot Alden in the head before boarding the bus and shooting Cuddeback. He then continued to fire, injuring two other servicemen while shouting "God is great," the complaint said.

When his weapon jammed, Uka ran from the bus and was later arrested by German police, the complaint said.

According to German officials, Uka later confessed to the shooting and said he was motivated to carry out the attack after watching an Internet video he said showed U.S. soldiers raping Muslim women.

Uka is a Muslim from Kosovo who was influenced by radical Islamist websites, German authorities said....

This report mentions that "Salafism is a strict adherence to the Koran and the earliest principles of Islam," perhaps inadvertently hitting the nail on the head in describing Salafism's appeal to former "moderates" and contradicting the claim that "extremism" must be rooted in a "misunderstanding" or later innovation. "Salafist threat growing, interior ministers say," from The Local, June 21 (thanks to Twostellas):

German state interior ministers are warning of a rise in radical Salafist Islam that poses a risk of home-grown terrorism, with one politician calling for changes to residency laws so “hate preachers” can be more easily deported.
Hesse Interior Minister Boris Rhein of the conservative Christian Democratic Union told daily Die Welt that Salafism was a “centre and pivot for those who want to participate in so-called holy war.”
“Salafism can in this way lay the path to Islamist terrorism,” he said, adding that the law needed to be changed so that “hate preachers” can be more easily thrown out of the country.
“In future, this should be possible when someone spreads material that goes against the liberal democratic basic order or that fosters radicalisation or, as the case may be, terrorism recruitment.
“We should also change the corresponding laws covering the right to assembly and paragraphs of the sedition law.”
Interior ministers from Germany's 16 federal states plan to discuss the issue when they hold a regular meeting on Tuesday. The Financial Times Deutschland reported Tuesday that the Verfassungsschutz domestic intelligence agencies would be intensifying their monitoring of the Salafist scene.
“Salafism is seen both in Germany and on the international level as the dynamic Islamist movement at the moment,” a Verfassungsschutz expert, who was not named, told the FTD.
Salafism is a strict adherence to the Koran and the earliest principles of Islam from between the 8th and 10th centuries. They aim to reorder society, the state and the law according to Salafist values regarded as God-given.
Rhein said that Salafists wanted “a return to a stone-age Islam and want to turn Germany into a theocracy.”
“They demonise anything western. The preach hate, intolerance and exclusion. They call for the stoning of adulterers and death sentences for homosexuals. They reject the equality of men and women. This ideology is at odds with our fundamental values. It is in every way unconstitutional and dangerous.”
Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann of the conservative Christian Social Union also warned of the growing danger.
“I am warning against underestimating the danger arising from Salafism,” he told the FTD. “Almost all terrorism issues in the past have been somehow or other traced back to a tendency to radicalisation from Salafism. We have to be especially watchful here.”
One of the most prominent representatives of Salafism in Germany is the former boxer Pierre Vogel, who now goes by the name Abu Hamza, whose sermons and internet videos are popular with young followers.
The young Kosovar Arid Uka who underwent a rapid radicalisation and killed two US military servicemen at Frankfurt Airport at the start of March, followed Vogel as a Facebook friend....

An update on this story. "Yusuf O." was with the German Taliban Mujahedin; strange as that may sound, Yusuf has a lot of company in German jihadists, frequently affiliated with the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan and other "misunderstanders" of Islam. There is even reportedly an entire village of German jihadists and converts to Islam in Pakistan, reflecting a strong network of German-speaking jihad connections for new recruits.

"Terror suspect extradited from Austria," from The Local, June 20 (thanks to Twostellas):

A German man arrested on suspicion of recruiting for a terror group mounting attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistan was extradited from Austria Monday, federal prosecutors said.
The German federal prosecutor's office said in a statement that the suspect identified only as Yusuf O. was arrested in Austria on May 31 on a German warrant.
Prosecutors say the 26-year-old travelled to the border region between Afghanistan and Pakistan from Germany in May 2009 and joined the "foreign terrorist organisation" German Taliban Mujahideen (DTM) in September of that year.
He allegedly trained in using explosives and firearms "and took part in jihad for the DTM," which plots attacks against government troops in the region as well as the NATO-led force in Afghanistan, the statement said.
"In addition he is accused of appearing in propaganda videos for the terrorist organisation," it said.
From early 2011, Yusuf O. is believed to have begun seeking new recruits for the DTM in Europe.
Austrian police arrested four terror suspects last week including a 25-year-old Austrian convert to Islam suspected of recruiting for terror training camps in Afghanistan and Pakistan and financing the DTM.
He is believed to have been in contact with Yusuf O., according to Austrian authorities.
The three other suspects, who were arrested at Vienna airport apparently on their way to a terrorist training camp in Pakistan, were released but the alleged Austrian recruiter remains in custody.
The daily Kronen Zeitung reported Saturday that the Austrian suspect, identified as Thomas al-J., was plotting to crash a plane into the Bundestag parliament building in Berlin and had been training on a flight simulator.
Neither Austrian nor German authorities have confirmed the report.

Priorities: women's soccer must die, to make the world safe for Sharia. "Report: Islamists may attack womens' world cup, German police warn," from Deutsche Presse-Agentur, June 17 (thanks to Weasel Zippers):

Wiesbaden, Germany - The Womens World Cup of Football being held over June and July in Germany may provoke violence by Islamic fundamentalists, German police have warned according to a report in Der Spiegel.
Germany is hosting the June 26 to July 17 women's world cup.
The report said Islamist extremists regarded women playing football as epitomizing western decadence, and said there was an 'especial risk' that 'lone-wolf' militants might disrupt games.

When I spoke at a Pax Europa rally in Stuttgart, Germany last Thursday, Leftist thugs stood for the jihad by trying to drown us out, and by throwing bottles, ice, eggs and manure at the stage. Now informed sources have identified the Leftist organizations that were carrying water for the jihad at that rally. An informed source has sent me this account of that rally in Stuttgart, about which I wrote here:

The first major action of the invading forces was to occupy the stage where the event was to take place, at 15:40, 20 minutes before the announced starting time. Unfortunately, this took place with no resistance from the police. The police was following events closely and created an extensive video record of it all. Accusations of 'police violence' has become a major problem for the German police, and they were clearly well prepared to document in detail how the day was proceeding.

Stage occupied, the whole area became filled with victorious Antifa activists and sympathisers. Horns, drumbeats and slogans made it clear who controlled the area, and photographers where repeatedly intimidated and threatened to abstain from filming the events unfolding. Police officers joined the activists on stage, and at 15:54 made the first attempt to clear the stage for the event to commence at 16:00 as planned. Next attempt at 15:59.

Things in a stalemate, it was interesting to study who were supporting the disturbances. Flags and banners were observed from at least the following organization, who one must assume would be held responsible for any violence and damage done:

I think the Greens (Die Grüne) deserve praise for not supporting street violence. They are heading the local government in that area.

All the while, the police was negotiating with the roughly one dozen black-clad activists who were holding the stage. The negotiations went on for quite a while, but did not lead to the desired goal of liberating the stage to pave way for the event to proceed. The activists were visibly aggressive towards the police, and several were arrested and taken away. Eventually the police abandoned the dialogue approach and – much to the fury of the crowd – cleared the stage by force. The police line advanced to clear the place in front of the stage to make room for the audience, but the black-clad activists did not yield until pepper spray and batons were taken into use. Light injuries and further arrests took place.

The Palestinian flag was carried very prominently during the entire event. This is another curious twist, for Palestinian organisations like Fatah and Hamas are known for anti-semitic sentiment, and Hamas even quotes the same sources as the National Socialists did, as concerns Jews.

As can be expected given the composition of the crowd, slogans against capitalism are also on display. It seems that these people are not aware that the most prominent anti-capitalist movement in German history was .. the National Socialists.

Antifa supporters frequently tried to stop people from filming and taking pictures. The crowd seems to be unaware that intimidation and control of the press has been a cornerstone of each and every fascist movement in history, and that by doing what they do, they are acting like fascists themselves.

Anyway, we held our event, albeit with the police not preventing the Antifa goons from hurling projectiles at us. But we stood and faced them, indicating our determination never to surrender.

spencer_stgt1.jpgIn Stuttgart last week

While in Germany on Sunday, I was interviewed for PI News. Here is part of the interview:

[...] Of course all our readers have already noticed what happened last Thursday. But could you perhaps describe how your impression was?

Certainly. I think there were around a thousand “Antifa” demonstrators with Muslims joined in with them, and a small group of people in our crowd. Many people didn’t come because they heard that there would be danger. And then there were about 500 police. But they didn’t really do much to protect us from the fascists. The fascists were throwing bottles, and ice, and excrement, and eggs. They were crashing onto the stage as we were speaking. But I think it was a great victory because we showed that we were not going to be frightened, we were not going to be intimidated, and we were not going to curtail our activities because of them. And so they are on notice now: We are never going to give up, we are never going to give in, and we are never going to surrender! [...]

I have heard that you are now writing a book entitled “Did Mohammed exist?” So, do you have doubts about that?

Yes, actually I do. This is a question that came to my attention several years ago. I remember having a very detailed discussion with the great Islamic scholar Ibn Warraq in which he was arguing that Mohammed did not exist. And I was arguing that he did, on the basis of his having been a very coherent character, somebody that it would be hard to imagine he could have been fictional. And also there were embarrassing elements of his life that Muslims seemed to be embarrassed about and that they tried to explain away. It seemed hard to believe that they would invent these things, for any reason. But the more I looked into the question, the more I have seen, while researching for this book, that actually all the stories about Mohammed seem to have been invented for various political or religious reasons – even the embarrassing ones. The entire religion was constructed in order to justify the political conquests that the Arabs were making and to unify their new empire. One of the most telling evidences of this is that although their conquests started in the 630s, it’s not until the 690s that there is any mention in any of the artefacts that they left behind: coins, inscriptions, anything. No mention of Mohammed, Quran or Islam. And so, one would think that if they had come storming out of the desert holding the Quran and energized by the teachings of Mohammed, surely they might have mentioned this in all that time. This is a very important exploration. I hope to make it clear in this book, because it emphasizes that Islam is fundamentally a political ideology, and only secondarily a religion. It was in the first place a political ideology and system, and the religion was then developed to accompany that and to give it a foundation.[...]

If we look to Germany again, there is a party called “DIE FREIHEIT”, founded from Mr. René Stadtkewitz. In The Netherlands, there is the PVV from Mr. Geert Wilders. In several other European countries, similar Liberty Parties have yet been established. Did you observe this development? And what is your opinion about the possibilities and chances for the future?

These parties give me great hope that Europe is not dead, that Eurabia is not a reality and never will be, and that European people will reassert their freedoms and the human rights that are threatened by Islamic law. I have great respect for Mr. Stadtkewitz. I had the great honour of meeting him several years ago when I spoke in Berlin. I am very happy that he is founding this party. It’s urgently needed, and I wish it all success.

I have heard that Mr. Stadtkewitz also invited you to join his party’s big conference about Islam and Integration on September 3rd 2011, together with Mr. Geert Wilders and Mr. Oskar Freysinger from SVP, Switzerland. So may I ask: can you already confirm that we will see you there again?

Yes! I am very honoured to come to Berlin on September 3rd! I have to re-arrange a few things with my schedule, but I will do so! I would be greatly honoured to be on the stage with Mr. Wilders, Mr. Freysinger and Mr. Stadtkewitz. I look forward to this meeting as the initiation of a new international solidarity movement that will truly fight for freedom and the dignity of all human beings!...

There is more.

GermanyOnBrink.jpg

In Human Events today I recap the serious threats to freedom I witnessed in Germany over the last few days:

In Stuttgart, Germany, last week, violent Leftist and Islamic supremacist demonstrators violently menaced anti-jihad activists – giving a sobering picture of where Germany, Europe, and the U.S. as well are headed if we don’t stand up and resolutely defend our freedom now.

Thursday afternoon I spoke in Stuttgart at the invitation of the human rights group Pax Europa. The event was well advertised, and so the thuggish Leftist/Islamic supremacist alliance mobilized and was out in full force.

About a thousand protesters from the frequently violent hard-Left Antifa group showed up, along with around 500 German riot police. “Antifa” stands for “Anti-fascism,” but if any fascism was on display, it was from the “anti-fascists,” who did their best to destroy the Pax Europa event. They were menacing people, starting fights, banging drums, blowing whistles, and chanting Leftist and Communist agitprop slogans. One young man from Antifa came up to me as I was standing right in front of a line of German police and said, "You're lucky there are so many police here today." He was not expressing solidarity.

Pax Europa had planned a full program featuring Middle Eastern Christian musicians, a Coptic Christian activist, and others, so as to highlight the hollowness of the Islamic supremacist narrative of Muslim victimhood and anti-jihadist racism. But the police ordered the Pax Europa organizers to drastically reduce the scope of their event. Everyone was restricted to ten minutes only. Several participants opted not to appear, in light of the manifest danger. Antifa people were attacking supporters of Pax Europa. I saw several individuals being chased by rabid Leftist gangs. At least one man went to the hospital.

The police used loudspeakers to call on Antifa twice to disperse, as Pax Europa had lawfully reserved the space for their event. The Antifa people responded only by moving forward, chanting slogans, banging their drums, and holding aloft the usual Leftist kitsch -- Che Guevara, the hammer and sickle, the Palestinian flag, signs denouncing Islamophobia, etc. The police moved them back a bit but did not ask them again to disperse, and allowed the Pax Europa event to begin.

It was an incredible din. We had loudspeakers that appeared to be able to reach the considerable crowd behind the protesters, but the Antifa thugs did all they could to drown us out: the drums got louder, the vuvuzelas came out, they were blowing whistles, and of course they were screaming and yelling. They also started throwing things: bottles, ice, eggs, excrement and more. One bottle narrowly missed the Coptic activist's head and crashed onto the stage -- other bottles crashed at our feet. Several speakers were hit with eggs. The manure they threw was all over the stage floor....

There is more.

Friday night the fascist thugs of Antifa found out which hotel the courageous anti-jihad politician René Stadtkewitz was planning to stay in when he came to Stuttgart to announce the founding of the local branch of his new Freedom Party; they reportedly broke the hotel's windows and painted threatening messages on its walls.

But that did not stop Stadtkewitz. He held the inaugural event of the local branch of his Freedom Party today in Stuttgart; I had the honor of speaking there. A desultory crowd of Antifa goons showed up; they had beaten a Pax Europa activist on the train on the way to the event, but that effort seems to have exhausted them. They passed up a golden opportunity to attack the cars that Stadtkewitz and and I were riding in, chanted a few Palestinian and Communist slogans, held the Hamas jihad terror flag aloft, smoked some cigarettes, and left. Apparently the resoluteness and determination that the anti-jihadists displayed over the last few days wore them out and took the wind out of their sails.

And indeed: the people at the Freedom Party event were all the more resolute and determined as a result of the violent intimidation to which they had been subjected. They realize that freedom hangs in the balance today in Germany, and in Europe and the U.S. as well, and they were prepared to take a stand.

I am proud and honored to stand with them, and will do so again at a Freedom Party event in Berlin on September 3, where René Stadtkewitz will be joined by two other European freedom fighters, Geert Wilders and Switzerland's Oskar Freysinger.

I hope that many more will join us. And I am confident that they will.

Here is video of my talk before violent Antifa pro-jihad demonstrators in Stuttgart, Germany yesterday. (Video courtesy Mission Europa Netzwerk Karl Martell and Europe News; thanks to ESW.) It gives you a hint of the atmosphere. I will post my photos as soon as I can, which will be next week at the earliest. Here again is the account I posted a few hours ago about the event:

Thursday afternoon I spoke in Stuttgart, Germany at the invitation of the human rights group Pax Europa. The event was well advertised, and so the thuggish Leftist/Islamic supremacist alliance mobilized and was out in full force.

About 1000 Antifa protesters showed up, banging drums, holding signs with the usual accusations of racism and "Islamophobia," blowing whistles, and menacing people who came out for the Pax Europa event. There were also about 500 German police on hand in riot gear. The Pax Europa organizers told me, "This is all for you" -- because they had publicized that I would be there. One young man came up to me as I was standing right in front of a line of German police and said, "You're lucky there are so many police here today."

They started throwing things: bottles, eggs, excrement and more. One bottle narrowly missed the Coptic activist's head and crashed onto the stage -- other bottles crashed at our feet. Several speakers were hit with eggs. The manure they threw was all over the stage floor.

I stood right in front (they missed me; I dodged a few projectiles) and watched them as they screamed and gestured and threw things -- it was like looking into the pit of hell. Here were young people passionately committed to their cause and believing it to be that of justice and freedom, and they are eager and willing useful idiots for the most radically intolerant ideology on the planet. So when my turn came to speak, I addressed them, and told them just that. I told them they wouldn't like what happened to them when their friends took power, but by then it would be too late.

And it may be already, for Europe. But I was glad to be there yesterday, and to stand against what was so obviously a force for oppression, hatred, and evil.

UPDATE: You can see photos here. I also have many, but will not be able to post them until next week, so watch this space.

Hamburg judge Heinz Uthmann wants Angela Merkel to shut up and play the dhimmi, as he does. "Judge Files Complaint against Merkel over Bin Laden Comments," from Spiegel, May 6 (thanks to Awake):

A Hamburg judge has filed a criminal complaint against Chancellor Angela Merkel for "endorsing a crime" after she stated she was "glad" that Osama bin Laden was killed by US forces. Meanwhile a new poll reveals that a majority of Germans do not see the terrorist's death as a reason to celebrate.

Schadenfreude, the enjoyment of others' suffering, may be a famously German concept, but it is apparently not a feeling that many Germans aspire to. The political and public fallout following Chancellor Angela Merkel's statement on Monday that she was "glad" Osama bin Laden had been killed was among the most hotly debated topics in the German media this week.

Politicians, including those within her own center-right coalition, said that no death was cause for celebration, and reproved the remark as un-Christian and vengeful.

But Hamburg judge Heinz Uthmann went even further. He alleges that the chancellor's statement was nothing short of illegal, and filed a criminal complaint against Merkel midweek, the daily Hamburger Morgenpost reported Friday.

"I am a law-abiding citizen and as a judge, sworn to justice and law," the 54-year-old told the paper, adding that Merkel's words were "tacky and undignified."

In his two-page document, Uthmann, a judge for 21 years, cites section 140 of the German Criminal Code, which forbids the "rewarding and approving" of crimes. In this case, Merkel endorsed a "homicide," Uthmann claimed. The violation is punishable by up to three years' imprisonment or a fine....

If any German court takes this seriously, Germany can be pronounced dead.

Profiling! Hate! Islamophobia! "Germany Arrests 3 Al Qaeda Suspects," from the Associated Press, April 29 (thanks to PRCS):

BERLIN – German police on Friday arrested three suspected members of the Al Qaeda terrorist organization who officials say posed a "concrete and imminent danger" to the nation.

Authorities did not say whether the three had planned specific targets and offered few details, but security officials said that all three suspects were of Moroccan origin. They also said that two were arrested were in the western German city of Duesseldorf and one in nearby Bochum. The arrests were based on suspicion they were planning a terror attack, they said.

The arrests "succeeded in averting a concrete and imminent danger, presented by international terrorism," German Interior Minister Hans-Peter Friedrich said in a statement. They showed "Germany remains a target of international terrorists."...

[A U.S. official said:] "There have been five disrupted plots in Europe during the past four years -- including a credible plot in Germany in 2007 -- all of which demonstrate Pakistan-based Al Qaeda's steadfast intent to attack the US and our allies."...

Germany raised its security posture in November after receiving information from its own and foreign intelligence services that led authorities to believe a sleeper cell of some 20 to 25 people may have been planning an attack inside the country or in another European nation.

Around the same time Germany also received information from U.S. sources that an attack similar to that in Mumbai in Nov. 2008 that killed 166 may be planned for Germany, the official said. Later, Germany received information on possible attacks at Christmas or New Year's....

It's enough to Instill confidence in intelligence services everywhere: the BND, the German intelligence agency, is apparently monitoring Jihad Watch as an "Islamic internet site." Or perhaps it is the UK tabloid The Sun that is getting this all wrong; one of the purported Jihad Watch comments The Sun quotes, "She needs to be very careful...," is indeed in this thread about Sila Sahin, but the other, "She must pay," is not. In any case, either The Sun or the BND or both missed the obvious thrust of this site, and the fact that the commenters were sympathetic to Sila Sahin.

"Fanatics' fury at Muslim Playgirl," by Allan Hall in The Sun, April 27 (thanks to Robert):

A MUSLIM actress has caused a storm by posing naked for Playboy.

Sila Sahin has been branded a "whore" and a "western slut" after appearing topless on the cover of the German edition of the men's magazine.

And Islamic fanatics have posted threatening internet messages.

Sila, raised in Germany by conservative Turkish parents, says she fears being "spat at" and "shamed".

Her parents are said to have reacted with "horror" at the 12-page coverage, and her mother has apparently cut off all contact. [...]

But Islamic internet sites are being monitored by the BND - the German intelligence agency - after threats were posted about her "shaming Muslim womanhood" and "prostituting herself for money".

One poster on the Jihad Watch website wrote: "She needs to be very careful..." Another simply said: "She must pay."

A kebab shop owner, asked on German TV what he would do if Sila were his daughter, replied: "I would kill her. I really mean that. That doesn't fit with my culture."...
