In the U.S. the Islamic supremacists are cannier: they denounce acts of jihad terror and then turn around and oppose every measure designed to prevent them. "Norway: Muslims praise Boston jihadis," by Nicolai Sennels in Islam Versus Europe, April 23:

"The Islamic group Prophet's Ummah has repeatedly and publicly praised terrorist acts carried out abroad. Also the terrorist attack in Boston on Monday is hailed by the leader of the extreme Norwegian group. On his facebook page Ubaydullah Hussain writes, 'To hell with Boston and the U.S., and may Allah destroy America.'
The leader of Prophet's Ummah has also posted pictures of the terrorists on their profile and calls the brothers a pair of 'real lions.'"

It was all a joke, doncha know. Hey, listen, I got one for ya -- this one'll really kill ya.

Genocidal Muslim pro-Hitler Facebook posts here.

"Norwegian youth leader seen encouraging anti-Semitic speech," from the Times of Israel, November 27 (thanks to Jerk Chicken):

(JTA) — Aspiring Norwegian politician Khalid Haji Ahmed said he was only joking when he wished “best of luck eight times over” to activists who wrote on Facebook that they wished Adolf Hitler could kill more Jews.

Screen shots made by Hamar Arbeiderblad, a local newspaper, show Ahmed responding on Facebook to a post that read “Damn Jew whores, wish Hitler could come back and shower you some more.”

The Facebook conversation took place last week between members of the Workers’ Youth League, Norway’s largest youth movement, which is affiliated with the country’s ruling Labor Party.

Ahmed, the youth movement’s regional secretary in southeast Norway, is quoted as telling the news site Nettavisen that his comment was “ironic.”...

Which side is making the greater, and potentially more dangerous, concession?

"To receive 100,000 kroner from the state, Islam Net must accept that women and men can sit together," from NRK, October 28:

The leader of Islam Net, Fahad Qureshi, will allow men and women to sit together to receive 100,000 NKR (17,000 USD) from Norwegian taxpayers.

"We are aware that the the organisation preaches a conservative version of Islam. We nevertheless think it is right to support this organization because they are known as opponents of forced marriage," says section leader Morten Tjessem to NRK.no.

But the money comes with requirements that men and women will be allowed to sit next to each other.

The reason is that Islam Net previously arranged meetings at Oslo University College, where men and women used separate entrances....

The Islam researcher and former head of the Norwegian Humanist Association Lars Gule disagrees. Also, Gule attended meetings with Islam Net, and he has a different opinion.

According to Gule, Islam Net has an undemocratic, misogynist organizational structure with extreme goals and values.

"Islam Net is a salafist organization. They are not jihadists who advocate violence, but they believe that equality, democracy, and equality of Muslims and non-Muslims is contrary to God's will," the researcher claims.

In "A New Attack on Islam’s Critics" at FrontPage, Bruce Bawer takes apart a Norwegian propaganda piece (on state television, naturally) featuring none other than the thug Nathan Lean, the tiny propagandist whom the Iranian mullahcracy shill Reza Aslan employs to send me veiled threats and publish claims about me that he knows to be false:

The partiality of the news media, heaven knows, is an international phenomenon.  But there are few places on this fragile blue planet of ours where consumers are forced to shell out so much money to be fed so much outright, shameless, and (not infrequently) downright vile propaganda as is the case in little Norway.  At present every Norwegian household that owns a TV must pay an annual “license fee” of $451.00 a year to subsidize NRK, the government-owned TV and radio network.  (Next year the fee will climb to $568.57.)  You have to pay,  even if you never, ever watch NRK, most of whose programming is not unlike a triple dose of Ambien.  Take the schedule for Wednesday, October 24, which consisted of a blizzard of national and local news programs (one of them in Sami); “Murder, She Wrote”; reality shows, one set on a remote Finnish island, another on a Danish chestnut farm whose proprietors run it “the good old-fashioned way”; an investigative program that asked why the number of moose in Norway has tripled in the last decade; and a musical tribute to United Nations Day by the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra.  (You may not know that October 24 is United Nations Day, but I can assure you that every kid in Norway does.)

But what’s worst about NRK is not the comical dullness of much of its daily menu but, well, two things: first, the day-to-day, knee-jerk, petty mendacities of its news reporting, which is almost invariably tilted against the U.S., Israel, capitalism, and so on; and, second, the larger, grander, more sweeping, and even, at times, utterly breathtaking duplicities of some of the few high-profile prime-time programs that NRK actually produces itself.  Case in point: Brennpunkt, or “burning point,” a series that pretends to be devoted to investigative journalism, and that, on the evening of October 23, served up an hour entitled “Intet kommer i en lukket hånd.” It was explained that this title, which literally translates as “Nothing comes in a closed hand,” was a quotation from Indira Gandhi; a quick Google search established that the original quotation was: “You cannot shake hands with a clenched fist.”

Whose “clenched fist” was the title referring to?  That became clear quickly enough.  Director/reporter Frode Nielsen told us that “more and more right-wing extremists are directing their intense hate against Islam.” Standing outside the Olso courthouse, and noting that in recent months both mass-murderer Anders Behring Breivik and terrorist Mullah Krekar have been brought to justice in that building, he declared that “the hate is equally dangerous on both sides.” Yet Nielsen’s topic wasn’t Islamic hate.  It was, rather, “those who have devoted their lives to running a hate campaign against a religion.”

Over the next hour, Nielsen introduced us to a series of people who fell, very clearly, into two categories: the Good Guys and the Bad.  What was curious was that several of the Bad Guys (some of whom genuinely were bad) were shown saying things that were inconvertibly true but that Nielsen obviously regarded as irrefutable evidence of their perfidy.  For example, a young, soft-spoken Jewish man whose name I didn’t catch said that “the Muslim world views kindness as weakness.” Anders Gravers, head of Stop Islamization of Europe, told a Danish audience that “Islam is the opposite of freedom, just as Communism is!” Pat Robertson, shown on The 700 Club, said that, owing to the advance of Islam in Norway, genital multilation and rape are also on the rise.  Chaim ben Pesach of the Jewish Task Force, who spent years in a U.S. prison for committing acts of terror, said: “You can’t negotiate with evil, you have to defeat evil….You can’t mix a violent, hateful culture with civilized people…. [Western leaders] are betraying their people….This is the beginning of end of the Western world if this continues.” Every word was true, even if the guy saying it was a despicable creep – but Nielsen’s only comment was that Pesach “denies that this sounds like Nazism.” Similarly, Koran-burning Florida preacher Terry Jones told Nielsen that “if you follow strictly the Koran, the Medina version, that does lead to violence” – a statement of pure fact from which Nielsen cuts directly to Mark Potok of the Southern Law Poverty Center lamenting how much “disinformation” is out there.

Other Bad Guys were raucous groups of English Defence League, Norwegian Defence League, and Danish Defence League protesters who were shown at street demos, waving flags and placards and screaming about Islam.  Lots of people with lots of hate, but behind all of them, Nielsen said, is a small group of ideologues who spread their “hate propaganda” to the multitudes via the Internet.  Not only have these ideologues influenced all these Bad Guys; they’re also responsible for creating the baddest Bad Guy of all, Anders Behring Breivik.  We heard a good deal about these mysterious puppeteers, these shadowy instigators, before the names of a few of them (including Brigitte Gabriel and Geert Wilders) were finally mentioned.

And only then, in the big reveal, did Nielsen actually show us a couple of these Satanic creatures, live and in person, addressing a street rally in Stockholm late in the summer of 2012.  Their names: Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller.  Nielsen, in voice-over, described them as “right-wing extremists” who are “strongly tied to Israeli extremists.” We saw them making their presentations in Stockholm, while cops in riot gear struggled to subdue a mob of violent protestors who were screaming: “Fucking racists!  No racists in our streets!” Gesturing toward the rioters, Spencer said calmly: “That’s the force we are fighting against.” Such people, he said, employ violence precisely because “they cannot defeat us intellectually or morally.” Spencer made sense and didn’t look dangerous, but Nielsen assured us he was: both his and Geller’s “propaganda,” Nielsen said, “is described as dangerous by those who monitor the anti-Islam movement.” Nielsen spoke about Spencer’s “propaganda” as if it were hidden away on clandestine websites with top-secret passwords, rather than published on a widely read website and in New York Times bestsellers.

Arrayed against Spencer and his armies of hate were a handful of Good Guys.  Norwegian Bishop Gunnar Stålsett murmured PC platitudes about brotherhood.  Matthew Collins of the group Hope Not Hate (whose magnificently mendacious Counter-Jihad Report I wrote about here) compared the EDL to the Tea Party, which, he pronounced, is “as dangerous  as any Islamist.” Nathan Lean, author of The Islamophobia Industry, said that Breivik took the writings of Spencer and company “to the logical conclusion…They weren’t the ones who committed the acts of violence, but they certainly were the ones who shaped the way he viewed the world, the way he views the Muslims, the way he viewed Europe.” Lean added that “people like bin Laden and people like Spencer are mirror images of one another,” saying that instead of fearing “stealth jihad, and creeping sharia…we should fear these groups…that promote and produce an environment and an atmosphere of hate.” Potok also linked Spencer to Breivik: “Words have consequences….If you say that the dirty Muslims are coming to rape our daughers and destroy our society…you can’t be shocked when somebody like Anders Breivik starts to murder people.  You have some kind of responsibility for that.” (As if to assure us that the SPLC is the voice of truth and virtue, Nielsen prefaced Potok’s comments with a montage of uplifting images from the civil-rights movement.)

At no point in the program was there so much as a hint that anything Spencer or any of the other Bad Guys say about Islam is true.  Lean did mention the film Obsession: Radical Islam’s War against the West, but instead of actually examining its content, he used it as an example of the Bad Guys’ determination to “provoke Muslims” and to “advance the fear of Muslims.” While he talked about Obsession, we got a quick glimpse of You Tube clips from the film on a computer screen: a church being set aflame, an imam preaching takeover of the West.  But none of this material was discussed.  It was as if the contents of films like Obsession, and of books like Spencer’s, were all sheer Islamophobic fantasy....

No, Nielsen plainly wanted us to understand that if people are getting worked up about Islam, it’s because they’re confused and ignorant.  “The world is changing rapidly and people are frightened,”  volunteered Potok.  Lean, for his part, noted that some people “argue that Muslims don’t constitute a race,” but maintained that this is just “a convenient way to avoid addressing…the civil rights issue of our time” (from which Nielsen cut to the Lincoln Memorial and that new, Chinese-looking statue of Martin Luther King, Jr.).  The director of the Rosa Parks Museum counseled that when people fear, “they just lash out and attack,” even though many of them don’t even know what they fear, and end up discovering that their fears are “completely unfounded.” The program concluded with a musical message from Gatas Parlament, a trio of white Communist rappers who are famous in Norway for (among other things) putting up a website a few years ago in which they offered a bounty for the head of George W. Bush.  Dancing in an Oslo street, the three men sang into the camera: “Are you sure that your prejudice makes sense?…Stop tolerating intolerance!” This, indeed, should be the bottom line when it comes to this topic: stop tolerating intolerance.  But the obvious agenda of Nielsen, and of his masters at NRK, is to turn the reality of all this – the reality of exactly who, in the West nowadays, is tolerating whose intolerance – upside down....

Read it all.

Nothing to see here. After all, Christian priests and ministers threaten to kidnap and murder politicians on a regular basis, now, don't they?

"Mullah Krekar to Face New Terror Charges in Norwegian Court," by Mikael Holter for Bloomberg, July 11 (thanks to Pamela Geller):

Mullah Krekar, an Iraqi cleric residing in Norway, has been indicted on charges of encouraging terrorism and seeking to influence a witness, prosecutor Marit Bakkevig said.

The terror charge covers threats of kidnapping and murder, targeting former Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik and the Norwegian people as a whole, she said by phone from Oslo today.

Some of Krekar’s comments were made during his own trial in March, when he was sentenced to five years in prison for death threats against people including Norwegian opposition politician Erna Solberg. The new trial is set to begin in Oslo on August 7, Bakkevig said.

“He doesn’t acknowledge guilt and will come to court well prepared,” Krekar’s lawyer Brynjar Meling said by mobile phone. Krekar stands by his comments and will argue that they were taken out of context and have a different meaning to the prosecution’s interpretation, Meling said, without commenting further.

This is a short addition to the Jihad Watch article "Norwegian man" trained by al-Qaeda, poised to attack the West. Translated from Norwegian by Nicolai Sennels, VG, June 27: "Terror trained Norwegian connected to Bhatti":

In their official threat assessment for 2012, the Norwegian Security Service (PST) writes that "We expect an increase of young Norwegians supporting extremist Islamic ideology." ... PST are keeping several Muslim converts under surveillance.

What an intriguing report. One wonders how it is that European security officials know so much about this Muslim, but apparently are not in a position to apprehend him. Note also that AP, like all mainstream media sources, and probably taking their cue from those Eurocops, thinks that the most salient detail about this al-Qaeda-trained Muslim, the one to put in the headline and lead paragraph, is not his Islamic faith, although he himself would point to it as his motivation, but his Norwegian nationality, although it is utterly irrelevant to his actions.

Meanwhile, yet another convert to Islam misunderstands his new, peaceful faith. And yet Muslim groups in the West have done nothing -- nothing -- to keep new converts from misunderstanding their new religion in the same way. Now, why is that?

"Norwegian trained by al-Qaida, awaiting orders to attack," from Associated Press, June 25 (thanks to all who sent this in):

STOCKHOLM — European security officials say a Norwegian man has received terrorist training from al-Qaida’s offshoot in Yemen and is awaiting orders to attack the West.

Western intelligence officials have long feared such a scenario: a convert to Islam trained in terrorist methods who can blend in easily in Europe and the United States and travel without visa restrictions.

Officials from three European security agencies confirmed Monday that the man is “operational,” meaning he has completed his training and is about to receive a target. All requested anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case.

One official described the man as a Norwegian in his 30s who became radicalized after converting to Islam in 2008. He spent “some months” in Yemen and is still believed to be there.

Jihad Watch has been reporting about the problem several times: "Western Muslims' Racist Rape Spree"; "Islamic cleric misunderstands Islam, issues fatwa permitting jihadis to kidnap, imprison, and rape infidel women"; "Stavanger, Norway: Nine out of ten rapists are 'men from minority groups'," etc.

The jihad on "uncovered meat" has just begun. Norway distinguishes two kinds of rapes: rape and attack-rape. In rapes, the rapist and the victim know each other beforehand, while an attack-rape is when the two do not know each other before the rape. In Oslo, 100 percent of the attack-rapes are committed by non-Western immigrants with a "view of women" that makes them rape, according to the leading police officer, Hanne Kristin Rohde.

With 76 rapes during the first 91 days of 2012, the number of rapes in Oslo has increased by an alarming 69 percent compared to the same period last year. Translated from Norwegian by Nicolai Sennels, Aftenposten April 16: "Alarming rise in reported rapes in Oslo":

Last year, the number of reported rapes in the Norwegian capital rose by 30 percent. 2012 has only gotten worse.

- Overall, in the first quarter, there is an increase of 69 percent in reported rapes and attempted rapes. There are 27 more cases than in the same period last year.

Police Inspector Hanne Kristin Rohde does not like the stats she has extracted on sexual crimes in the Oslo police district.

- Very ugly numbers, she concludes.

- Is this a real increase, or are there others who choose to report rape?

- We do not know. But there has been a lot of talking about rape in the public, so we think that the increase is a result of people's willingness to report rapes to the police.

During this year's first 91 days, Oslo police have received reports on 76 rape cases, compared to 45 during the same period last year. The so called attack-rapes were included.

Translated by Nicolai Sennels, VG Nett, April 1: "Still more often visiting radical Muslims":

PST makes contact when they are worried that a person is flirting with radical opinions. In 2011, PST used preventive methods more than ever since they were allowed to in 2005, a EOS-report concludes.

Preventive methods are, for example, that an employee at PST knocks on the door, introduces himself, and tells the person that PST is aware that he is flirting with radical opinions.

It has been confirmed to VG Nett that the increased use of such methods is because of an increased focus on radical Islam. 'We do it because the threats that we are aware of makes it necessary', says spokesman Trond Hugubakken of PST.

VG Nett: 'Why did you use these methods more often in 2011?'

Hugubakken: 'Because of the type of threats.'

VG Nett: 'Is it because there are more radical Muslims?'

Hugubakken: 'Particularly the last two years, we have seen an increase in threats from radical Muslims', says Hugubakken.

This is how the PST itself presents its work:

Hugubakken: 'An oft-used method for the prevention of terror is simply to talk to people. A preventive talk happens openly. This means that the PST employee presents himself as PST when he makes contact with the person he wants to talk to. All talks with the PST are confidential. This means that the PST does not disclose the identity of the person it is contacting.'

Excusing death threats by referring to Islamic principles doesn't work in Norway.

JihadWatch posted about Mullah Krekar back in February 2012 when the trial started. Translated from Danish by Nicolai Sennels, Jyllandsposten March 26: "Five years in prison for radical Islamist":

The militant Islamist Mullah Krekar is sentenced to five years in prison by Oslo City Court for making death threats to ministers and other named persons in Norway.

The 55-year-old Mullah Krekar, whose real name is Najmuddin Faraj Ahmad, is founder of the Islamist Kurdish group Ansar al-Islam. He has lived in Norway since 1991 and has regularly been at loggerheads with the Norwegian authorities.

The district court found him guilty of making death threats, and for having encouraged terrorist activities against known Norwegians.

Mullah Krekar comes from Iraq. One of the four people he made death threats against is the leader of the party Højre (Conservatives), Erna Solberg.

As Attorney General she signed a deportation order in 2003 against Krekar, who at that time was considered to be a threat to Norway's domestic security.

Krekar, who is on the UN and U.S. terrorist lists, however, has never been expelled from Norway. The reason is that Norwegian law does not permit deportation to a country where the person's safety is not guaranteed, or where the person will be facing death penalty.

Krekar is also guilty of making death threats against three named Iraqis in Norway who have burned parts of the Koran or otherwise offended Muslims or their religion.

Mullah Krekar appealed the sentence. He acknowledges that he has made death threats, but claims that he merely referred to 'Islamic principles'. Besides the five years in prison, Krekar was also ordered to pay 100,000 Norwegian Kroner in compensation to the three Kurds that he threatened to kill.

Mullah Krekar was also accused of incitement to kill American soldiers in Iraq. The district court acquitted him, however, on that particular indictment.

Alternate headline: "Norway seeks 'asylum' from Mullah Krekar." An update on this story. "Iraqi-born Islamist cleric in Norway terror trial," by Bjoern H. Amland for the Associated Press, February 15:

An Iraqi-born cleric pleaded not guilty in a Norwegian court Wednesday to charges of making death threats against politicians and encouraging suicide bombings.

Prosecutors said Mullah Krekar, a 55-year-old Islamist who came to Norway as a refugee in 1991, faces several years in prison if found guilty.

Since his arrival, Krekar has made frequent trips to Iraq where he founded the Kurdish Ansar al-Islam, listed as a terrorist organization by the United States and other nations. It is suspected of organizing suicide bombings against coalition forces in Iraq.

In 2005, a Norwegian court declared him a national security threat and ordered him deported, but later postponed the move because of concerns he could face execution or torture in Iraq.

Prosecutor Marit Bakkevig told the court Wednesday that Krekar had violated Norwegian terror laws by making threats that "were meant to cause fear in society" and force officials to halt the deportation order.

"The statements appear as persistent threats," she said.

Two years ago, Krekar told foreign reporters in Oslo that if he were deported to Iraq and killed, Norwegian officials would "pay with their lives," according to a transcript included in the indictment presented in court.

Charges also include comments Krekar made on NBC's news program "The Wanted" in 2009. He said America deserved the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, and condoned suicide bombings against Americans in Iraq. He is also charged with making death threats on various websites against others.

Krekar's lawyer, Brynjar Meling, said his client stands by what he said, but he had not broken the law.

"It should not be looked upon as threats," Meling told The Associated Press on the eve of the trial, adding that it would be "a test case" for drawing the line between Norwegian terror laws and freedom of speech.

The trial is expected to last three weeks.

The Islamic Spring is spreading its message. Translated from The World Today, January 23: "Iranian converts stabbed in Norway":

Two Iranians who converted from Islam to Christianity was stabbed by masked men in Norway Haugesund last week. The attackers shouted "kuffar" -- an Arabic invective for unbelievers -- during the attack. The attack occurred on Tuesday evening when the two Christian Iranians were out for a walk in Haugesund. They were attacked by three masked and knife-armed men, who reportedly shouted "kuffar" as they stabbed the two. ...

The two assaulted men want to be anonymous and have not spoken out afterwards. They have lived in Norway for several years. One of them has become a Christian in Norway, the other left Islam and became a Christian in Iran and fled to Norway a couple of years ago after being beaten and imprisoned for his Christian faith in Iran. Both are involved in a mission church in Haugesund.

A pack of about 40 Muslims gathered in front of the Norwegian parliament, shouting "Allahu akbar" while the bearded speaker, a known criminal named Arfan Qadeer Bhatti, in perfect Norwegian told the Norwegians:

We therefore demand that Norway immediately decide to withdraw her forces from Afghanistan before the war comes back to Norway. ... The Norwegian people should also know that their security will continue to be threatened as long as the Norwegian government continues its aggression against the Muslim people, and takes part in the occupation of Muslim countries. If security is dear to you, dear Norwegians, you should collectively demand that the Norwegian government withdraw Norwegian forces. And I stress: this is not a threat; it is a warning for your own good. (Crowd cheering 'Allahu akbar').

Let us see if the Norwegians will blame these Muslims' manual for terror as much as they blamed anti-jihadists for Breivik's murders. Translated from Jyllands-Posten, January 30: "Seven years in prison for terror plans against Jyllands-Posten":

The case has been called historical in Norway, because it is the first time that someone has been convicted for planning terror.

The Chinese Uighur and Norwegian citizen Mikael Davud was the main man behind the terror plans against Jyllands-Posten's premises at the Town Hall Square in Copenhagen. So he got a sentence of seven years in prison.

"The Court finds no doubt that Davud took the initiative and that he also was the main man. He was himself responsible for the implementation of the terrorist attack," said Judge Oddmund Black Berg.

It was ruled that the preparations were characterized by professionalism, but that the attack was not imminent. It appeared that there would only have been a small bomb, which probably would not cost lives. The defenders demanded acquittal. ...

According to the indictment, Mikael Davud was acting on behalf of Al Qaida. He admitted in court that he received bomb training from a terrorist group in Iran. The prosecutor argued that Davud instead traveled across the border into Pakistan, where he trained with Al Qaeda. Mikael Davud acknowledged that he had contacts with Al Qaida, but not that he was on a mission for the terrorist network. He acted on his own, he said. ...

The Iraqi Kurd Shawan Sadek Saeed Bujak has argued that the goal was Jyllands-Posten and Kurt Westergaard, a goal that both he and Davud allegedly agreed on. And this was the charge that the court found was proven.

Muslim men rape Muslim women because they do not dare to go to the police out of fear of their family's "honourable" reaction.

Muslim men rape non-Muslim women because it is their right.

Not only the women are hurt. Islam also perverts men's sexuality and destroys their ability to experience true love, which is based on equality. Violent frustrations and sexual perversion might often be the result.

In Oslo, Norway's capital, 100 percent of rapes are committed by 'non-Western' immigrants. As a result, the female staff at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Oslo has received training in martial arts, and all female employees are wearing alarms -- basically to be able to defend themselves against Muslim rapists.

The latest news is that in Stavanger, Norway's 4th biggest city, nine out of ten rapes are committed by 'men from minority groups'.

The amount of reported rapes in Sweden has increased 186 percent from 2001 to 2010.

He may have thought he was legally safe keeping it in terms of divine wrath, and that undoubtedly will undoubtedly be argued in court, but the lack of specificity actually lends itself to incitement.

The suspect has apparently not restricted it to, say, brimstone falling from the sky, but leaves open the possibility of a Muslim believer making himself the vehicle of Allah's wrath against unbelievers. The direct identification of specific figures in Norwegian politics and imagery of bombings and casualties -- of human acts of violence -- further supports the impression that he is urging a hit on specific people. "Suspect arrested over Islamist threat video," from The Local, January 20:

A 21-year-old man will face a remand hearing on Friday following his arrest on suspicion of having posted a hateful video to the internet calling on Allah to destroy members of the Norwegian government and royal family.

The suspect will appear in front of Skien district court in south-eastern Norway at 1pm on Friday.

The man, a Norwegian citizen with a Central American family background, was arrested at his home in the town at 11pm on Wednesday by officers from the Telemark police service and the domestic police intelligence agency, PTS.

He faces preliminary charges of threatening state officials and incitement to terrorism.

The suspect’s lawyer, John Christian Elden, said his client admitted to being behind the video but did not believe it contained any threats.

“He was not previously known to police, and he doesn't think he has done anything illegal, even though he admits that he’s the one who posted the video,” said Elden.

A link to the video was posted in the early hours of Tuesday morning in a Facebook group with 1,600 members called ‘Demonstrasjon: Norske soldater ut av Afghanistan’ [Demonstration: Norwegian soldiers out of Afghanistan]. The group’s aim is to gather protesters for a rally outside the Oslo parliament on Friday.

The number of group members has dropped to below 1,300 since the video appeared there.

In the video, images of Crown Prince Haakon, Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre are accompanied by a song in Arabic that contains the words: “Oh Allah, destroy them, and let it be painful”.

The clip, which is just over four minutes long, also features pictures of Norwegian soldiers and injured children. It ends with the sound of an explosion and a picture of a Norwegian vehicle in flames.

One of the staples of attack pieces on me by Leftist and Islamic supremacist hate groups is something I wrote in 2005: "‘there is no distinction in the American Muslim community between peaceful Muslims and jihadists. While Americans prefer to imagine that the vast majority of American Muslims are civic-minded patriots who accept wholeheartedly the parameters of American pluralism, this proposition has actually never been proven." More is made of this quote than is actually there, since all I meant was actually that there is no institutional distinction, so jihadis move freely in Muslim circles among those who oppose them and claim to do so. In other words, there are no "Islamic supremacist" mosques and "moderate" mosques. There are just mosques, and there are peaceful Muslims and jihadis in them.

Meanwhile, non-Muslim authorities continue to assume that every Muslim who is not an active member of a terrorist group is a moderate who rejects the premises of jihad terror. Here is yet another story that illustrates how unwise that is.

"Norwegian ‘His Majesty the King's Guard’ Dies as terrorist," from Norway News, November 10 (thanks to Benedict):

Norwegian friends found the ‘Norwegian-Somali’ man to be a model soldier. This ‘model soldier’ ended up traveling to Somalia to fight for Allah.

Without notifying friends or family, the Norwegian-Somali man traveled to Somalia and joined terrorist organization, “al-Shabaab.”

This startling information appears in an unpublished report prepared by the Defense Research Establishment (FFI) and accessed by VG. The report is authored by Stig Jarle Hansen, a world leader in Somalian matters.

PST (Police Security Service) confirmed to VG that the former soldier in His Majesty the King's Guard was killed in combat in March of this year.

PST knew the soldier was killed earlier this year while fighting in Somalia. “There is reason to wonder why a seemingly well-integrated Norwegian citizen would travel to Somalia to join a terrorist organization,” says communications director, Trond Hugubakken of Police Security Service’s (PST).

The 27-year-old is the first known Norwegian citizen who has been killed fighting for a terrorist organization. He died in March this year, allegedly in a battle with Somali government forces.

In 2005 and 2006, he served with the military service of His Majesty the King's Guard.

“We have informed the media that a named civilian has been killed in Somalia. We are also aware that he - like many others - has completed their military services training in the Armed Forces a few years back,” said Lt. Col. Bent-Ivan Myhre, spokesman of the Armed Forces.

Transformation

VG Nett has been in contact with family members and acquaintances of the Norwegian-Somali shoulder. They tell of a sudden change that began after he came in contact with the so-called Tablighi community while traveling. They are extremely conservative Muslims.

“He was a real GodGunsAndGlory. He played football, was well liked by everyone. He had many Norwegian friends, said a school friend.”

Family shocked

The father of the late Norwegian-Somali replied to VG that it came as a shock to him and others in the family that his son traveled to Somalia to join al-Shabaab.

“He traveled to Ethiopia last year to visit his mother. From there he went to Somalia, but he told me little about it. It is terrible to think that he is dead, I cannot get it out of my head, said the father. He has five children behind in Norway.”

-Was he contacted by PST after he died?

“Yes, I have talked a lot with the police. What we talked about is a matter between me and them, but you can imagine it yourself.”

- I guess they were interested in knowing why your son chose to join a terrorist organization.

The father nodded, pulled another drag on his cigarette and his eye went blank.

Overgrown beard

In 2009 that the young man suddenly changed. He began to walk in long ankle-length robes and let his beard grow.

Then, the young man went to Africa. He had not been to Africa since he first set foot on Norwegian soil in 1994.

He landed in Ethiopia and stayed there for a while. Then he must have crossed the border into Somalia. From the war-torn country, he called home from terrorist-controlled Beled weyne.

In Somalia, he was responsible for training and passing on the knowledge of His Majesty the King's Guard to young terrorist recruits.

The family did not hear from him, again. Not until an unknown woman called in March 2011.

“Hey, I'm his wife. He has been killed,” was all she had to say.

Now the family wants to know who fooled the young happy boy into believing he would go to paradise if he martyred his life to the Somali bloodshed.

“Why? I want to know,” say a family member. He explains that the young man was a role model for his brothers, sisters, nephews and cousins, before suddenly enlisting into to the radical Islamist movement.

Who could have fooled the young happy boy into believing such a thing? Could it have been...Allah, who guarantees Paradise to those who "kill and are killed" for him (Qur'an 9:111)?

Warning

Somalia expert, Stig Jarle Hansen, wrote the report in which the unique story unfolds. He warns it isn’t only young misfits and frustrated men who are attracted to participate in the terror war.

“This shows that it is important to have a deep and broad dialogue with the Somali community.

It is important not to be blinded by the danger of lies. This man was apparently well-integrated, played football and had Norwegian friends,” says Hansen.

SAIH-plakat-2011.jpg

Sympathy for the devil. "Press release: - We defend students' free speech," from SAIH (Norwegian Students' and Academics' International Assistance Fund), October 14 (thanks to James):

SAIH annual campaign has created reactions. This year's campaign focuses on the students' role as critics and democracy builders. Students throughout the world experience to be censored, monitored, persecuted and imprisoned for their social commitment. The campaign is fronted by a poster put up on all Norwegian university and college towns. The poster shows the dictators Adolf Hitler, Muammar al-Gadafi, Robert Mugabe, Kim Jong-il, Joseph Stalin - and the Ayatollah Khomeini who flee from the protesting students. This poster made the Iranian embassy to react.

- Unfortunately, the poster contains a picture of our great late leader Imam Khomeini, next dictators like Hitler. You have offended the feelings of a great nation, says the email that SAIH has received from the press chief of the Iranian Embassy in Oslo, Mohammad Javad Hosseini. - The Embassy of The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly protests against this action and wants your organization to remove this picture as soon as possible; it is further stated in the email from the embassy.

Anette Remme, president of SAIH, finds the reactions from the Iranian Embassy to be both provocative and unacceptable.

- The embassy is asking us to remove the poster, and this illustrates the problem. All over the world critical students who struggle against oppression are being censored and threatened. We defend the students’ rights to assembly and freedom of speech. It is not our intention to demonize Iran or other states, but it is clear that the embassy does not respect our freedom of expression when they ask us to remove the poster.
- We have been told that the image of the poster now has begun to circulate among students in Iran. I hope that this gives the Iranian students the feeling that we stand together, and that it can provide inspiration in the struggle for justice.

SAIH is aware that images are much stronger than words and understand that this can lead to different interpretations and reactions.

- Our message is not about individuals in the photo, but about a range of undemocratic leaders. They all have human rights violations on their conscience and they have felt threatened by students as opponents. It is important to note that the students on the poster only threaten them with books and words, not weapons. While students who try to protest by peaceful means and free speech, are in fact often met with weapons from dictators.

Reactions have also come from Iranian students in Norway, both from those who go against and those who defend the poster. One of those who reacted against the poster is the Iranian Hatef Khaledi Alidoosti, studying at NTNU in Trondheim. On the Iranian blog kharchangzadeh.com he has written a post. - It is stupid and ridiculous to put Khomeini in the stall with brutal dictators from other countries. This is an insult to me and other Muslims, writes Alidoosti on his blog, which has now been removed from the web. Most of Iranians who contact SAIH congratulate and welcome the campaign, but many do not want to speak publicly in fear of reactions from the Iranian government....

A society that accepts death as retribution for cartoons is morally, intellectually and ultimately materially impoverished. That is what is at stake in upholding freedom of speech against violent intimidation. An update on this story. "Norway charges three in terror plot over cartoons," from BBC News, September 27:

Prosecutors in Norway have charged three men with conspiracy to commit terrorism in connection with the 2005 Prophet Muhammad cartoon controversy.
The three are accused of planning to attack Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard and the newspaper Jyllands-Posten, which published his cartoons.
The men - of Iraqi Kurdish, Chinese Uighur and Uzbek origin - were arrested in Norway and Germany in 2010.
They had allegedly acquired bomb components and tried to buy a gun.
The three are expected to be tried next month.
They were named as Mikael Davud, a Norwegian of Uighur origin, Shawan Sadek Saeed Bujak, an Iraqi Kurd residing in Norway, and David Jakobsen, an Uzbek also living in Norway.

After having watched "Achmed, the dead suicide bomber" quite a few times, it is often difficult for me not to smile when a Muslim says "I kill you!" But this is quite serious:

Tortured in asylum center

At Hå asylmum centre, "Ali" had boiling water poured over him after converting to Christianity and not fasting during Ramadan. Now he and other converts fear for their lives.

"If you do not return to Islam, we kill you," was the message "Ali" got from other Muslims at the Hå asylum centre. He does not wish to have his face or real name published, out of fear of the Muslims at the centre. If Afghan authorities come to know about his conversion, he risks the death penalty by stoning if he is sent back to his home country.
