AROUND 150 Muslims have demonstrated outside the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh calling for a ban on offensive material such as the anti-Islam film which has sparked protests around the world.

Demonstrators waved banners reading “No religion is allowed to insult any other religion” and “We demand international law to stop religious hatred”.

The amateur film Innocence Of Muslims, made in the US, has sparked international unrest which has claimed lives including US ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens.

Protest spokesman Akeel Umar said the demonstration outside Parliament is peaceful, while likening those involved in the violence elsewhere to football fans who get carried away on match day.

Police removed a bystander who shouted at the protesters: “20,000 terrorist attacks since 2001. How do you justify that?”

Mr Umar said the protesters come from a range of local Islamic organisations.

“We want to raise our concerns with the Scottish Parliament so that some necessary changes can be made with reference to Ofcom and the regulators to stop promotion of any hateful media clips,” he said.

“Perhaps the laws need to be looked at and reassessed.”

He said Muslims in Edinburgh are “more hurt than angry” about the film.

“The video itself was made by a director who conned some of the actors,” he said.

“The purpose of this video does not appear to be positively motivated. It appears to be a very negative, very poor piece of filmed documentary.”...

Nasserdine Menni Nasserdine Menni will be deported after he serves his sentence

A Glasgow-based asylum seeker has been jailed for seven years for helping to fund a terror attack in Sweden.

Algerian Nasserdine Menni was found guilty of supplying money to Taimour Abdulwahab to help fund the suicide bombing in Stockholm in 2010.

Abdulwahab, an Iraqi-born Swedish citizen, targeted shoppers on 11 December 2010. Two passers-by were injured when he blew himself up.

Menni will be deported after he has served his sentence....

During the 11-week trial, the court heard how Abdulwahab intended to kill himself and others on the busy pre Christmas shopping streets of Stockholm.

He bought a second hand Audi car and packed it with petrol canisters, gas cylinders, and a "pressure cooker" type bomb which was filled with nails, ball bearings and explosives. Despite setting fire to the vehicle, Abdulwahab failed to detonate the devices inside....

A mobile phone was recovered from Abdulwahab's body, which he had used to make two calls earlier that day to a mobile in Glasgow.

Within days, Menni - who was known to some in Glasgow as an asylum-seeking Kuwaiti called Ezeeden Al-Khaledi - had been identified as the owner of the phone.

He was placed under surveillance and the subsequent investigation revealed extensive links between the two men.

The court was told that Menni is believed to have come to the UK in 2005. According to police, the two men became close after meeting in Luton and were in contact on a daily basis.

Abdulwahab is said to have became radicalised and his views caused concern among others at a mosque he attended in Luton.

It is thought that Menni also became radicalised in early 2009. In April that year he left his job in Dunstable in an apparent attempt to distance himself from Abdulwahab.

After surfacing in Liverpool, he claimed asylum using the identity of a Kuwaiti Bedouin called Ezeeden Al-Khaledi.

As part of the asylum dispersal programme, he was sent to Glasgow where he lived in a number of locations around the city.

During this time he used a number of aliases to fraudulently claim benefits. He also managed to save money from various jobs.

Police later discovered that Menni had a number of bank accounts in various aliases through which he transferred cash to Abdulwahab to fund the terror plot.

Menni deposited amounts totalling £5,725 which helped pay for Abdulwahab's trips abroad for the "purposes of Jihad" and the Audi car used in the bombing.
'Accomplished liar'

Another £1,000 was sent intended for Abdulwahab's wife after his death.

It emerged during the trial that Menni and Abdulwahab also had access to an email address with a password that included the figures "911" - thought to be a reference to the Twin Towers attack in New York.

It is believed they would discuss tactics with each other in messages saved in the account's "drafts" folder before they were deleted. This meant no emails were ever actually sent between them, leaving no trail....

Menni, who was described in court as an "intelligent, but accomplished liar", claimed to have no knowledge of the suicide bomber....

What? Who ever heard of a jihadist or Islamic supremacist being an "intelligent, but accomplished liar"? It's..."Islamophobia"!

GLASGOW, Scotland, July 21 (UPI) -- A man who lived for more than a year in Scotland as an asylum-seeker was convicted Friday of using illegally obtained benefits to finance terrorism.

A jury in Glasgow found Nasserdine Menni guilty of sending money to Taimour Abdulwahab, who died in a bungled suicide bombing in Stockholm Dec. 11, 2010, The Herald of Glasgow reported. The verdict after an 11-week trial was "not proven" -- a verdict unique to Scotland that is legally the same as not guilty -- on a charge that Menni conspired to kill Swedish citizens.

Menni, who was also convicted of benefit fraud, is scheduled to be sentenced in August.

"Thank you very much, my Lord, for the justice in Scotland," he said as he was led out of the courtroom, addressing the judge.

Menni, an Algerian, and Abdulwahab, a Swedish citizen born in Iraq, got to know each other while working in an auto parts plant in Bedfordshire. Menni was living under an assumed name with false papers that identified him as French, investigators say....

There will be more and more honor killings in the West until Western authorities have the courage to address its root causes, but that day may never come, but Islamic teaching contains a justification for the practice, and no one dares speak against something that is taught in Islam.

A manual of Islamic law certified as a reliable guide to Sunni orthodoxy by Al-Azhar University, the most respected authority in Sunni Islam, says that "retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right." However, "not subject to retaliation" is "a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring's offspring." ('Umdat al-Salik o1.1-2). In other words, someone who kills his child incurs no legal penalty under Islamic law.

The Palestinian Authority gives pardons or suspended sentences for honor murders. Iraqi women have asked for tougher sentences for Islamic honor murderers, who get off lightly now. Syria in 2009 scrapped a law limiting the length of sentences for honor killings, but "the new law says a man can still benefit from extenuating circumstances in crimes of passion or honour 'provided he serves a prison term of no less than two years in the case of killing.'" And in 2003 the Jordanian Parliament voted down on Islamic grounds a provision designed to stiffen penalties for honor killings. Al-Jazeera reported that "Islamists and conservatives said the laws violated religious traditions and would destroy families and values."

"Father tried to mow down his daughter after boyfriend proposed to her," from STV, April 12 (thanks to David):

A father attempted to mow down his daughter because he did not want her to marry her boyfriend.

Tariq Hussain, 51, drove his Honda at Saheer Hussain and her partner Adeel Abriham after he asked for Ms Hussain's hand in marriage.

He chased Mr Adeel out of the family home on Westfarm Grove, Cambuslang, before making after the couple in his car.

Hussain was convicted by a jury at Glasgow Sheriff Court of a breach of the peace and attempting to hit the couple with his car to the danger of their lives.

Defence advocate Paul Brown told the court on Thursday that Hussain was a family man and "pillar of the community", Sheriff Sam Cathcart said he could deal with the case "other than by means of custody".

Hussain was ordered to carry out 300 hours unpaid work in the community, the maximum amount that can be imposed, and meet with a supervisor over 12 months.

The court heard previously Mr Abriham went to the Hussain's family home on March 1, 2011, to ask for Ms Hussain's daughter's hand in marriage after they had been dating for a few months.

Hussain did not want his daughter to be with Mr Abriham after making some enquiries about him.

Mr Brown told the court a number of references were given by people Hussain knows. He said: "It seems he is seen as a pillar of the community. All of them describe this conviction as being completely out of character."

He sounds like a decent fellow.

A BRUTE who murdered a gran has converted to Islam behind bars - so he can avoid work.

Evil David Millar - who stabbed frail 82-year-old Lucy Marshall to death - will skip his duties in the laundry because of his new faith.

He will be excused from work on Fridays so he can attend prayers.

And he's told pals he'll not have to do chores during the holy month of Ramadan.

The 28-year-old will also receive special halal meals such as curries at Dumfries prison.

One jail source said: "He works in the laundry but wants to use his new-found faith to get out of it.

"He's told a few of his cronies he won't have to work for the whole of Ramadan, which us basically like getting a month off his duties.

"It's so see-through."

Jail sources claim Millar - who was just 14 when he knifed Lucy in a Buckfast-fuelled frenzy in 1997 in Cowdenbeath, Fife - showed no previous interest in Islam before his conversion.

But it's believed the fitness fanatic thought a Muslim diet would aid his weight training.

One guard said: "It came out of the blue.

"But we're duty-bound to help once a prisoner decides to become Muslim."...

What took them so long?

GLASGOW’S Muslims are boycotting the city’s main airport and choosing to fly from Manchester because of perceived harassment from counter-terrorism officers, it was claimed last night.

The allegations were made at a public meeting called to discuss concerns held by parts of the Asian community that powers held by police, ports and immigration officials to question travellers at travel hubs were abused, with travellers singled out solely on the basis of their race or skin colour.

The schools proposed here would seek state funding; issues that should be raised immediately in response are those of curriculum and oversight. The design of an "Islamic" curriculum promises a minefield of problems including advocacy for a state governed by Sharia (now part of the measure of "extremism" in Britain), and the issues of women's rights, the rights of unbelievers, and Islamic supremacism in general. There is also the question of how well the standard British curriculum would be upheld: literature, art, and social studies included.

High-profile horror stories about the lack of meaningful oversight of private Islamic schools in Britain are cause for serious concern regarding these schools as well, as educational watchdogs have been accused of whitewashing reports about what goes on in Islamic schools, where inspectors linked with "radical" groups rubber-stamped their approval. The appearance of oversight has been no guarantee that all is well.

Muslim leaders are planning to break away from the Scottish education system and create their own schools because the current curriculum does not include enough about Islam.

The Sunday Express has learned parents are angry their children are not being given schooling according to their religious beliefs and claim teachers are even promoting “unIslamic principles and behaviours”.

Some have even threatened legal action to force councils to open state-funded faith schools at taxpayers’ expense.

Others want the “relatively affluent” Muslim community to take matters into its own hands, starting with Scotland’s first Islamic high school.

Parents and supporters are being rallied on an Internet chat room called glasgowmuslims.com. One father explains the plan is to “form a steering group of individuals who wish to contribute towards the creation of an Islamic Secondary School for Girls in Glasgow”.

The anonymous man – TariqM – adds: “I have spoken to a number of Imams representing the primary Masjids (mosques) in Glasgow and in principle everybody agrees the ideal solution to education for Muslims would be within an environment that has at its core an Islamic ethos.”

Another member proposes legal action over the city council’s refusal to fund an Islamic state school, stating: “There is a case to be made by the Muslim community against Glasgow Council claiming religious bigotry and discrimination.”

Sajid Quayum, president of the Glasgow branch of the Islamic Society of Britain (ISB), said he was aware of the group and its plans.

“Education is something close to the heart of all parents,” he said. “They are venting their frustration over not being able to ‘play the system’ as other religious groups have in the past.

“There is a lot of disagreement in the wider community whether having an Islamic state school is what we want. Some say it would be a good thing but others say there is enough separation from the main community as there is.”

Mr Quayum, a TV producer, also claimed children of all religions and backgrounds are not learning enough about Islam in school.

He said: “A lot of teachers are a little bit worried about trying to cover Islam because it has so many social and political issues.

“We have set up a teacher training programme called Islam Information Scotland. When we have approached RE teachers, they say they will often focus on a particular religion for a year, such as Hinduism, but it will rarely be Islam because they are worried about offending Muslims....

Damned if they do, damned if they don't. Just ask Gary Smith, the religion teacher who lay unconscious in a hospital for two days after being savagely beaten for teaching about Islam "incorrectly."

If they want to form their own schools at their own expense, that's one thing -- but true to form, they are going farther than that, and want the kuffar to pay for their Islamic schools. That "30-year-old man" again. One might suggest Peter King drop his "strange obsession with Islam" and simply "not trust anyone over 30," but again, the actual bomber was 28. A 30-year-old man has appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court in connection with a suicide bombing in Sweden.

Ezeedem Al Khaledi, described as a Kuwaiti national, faces three charges under the Terrorism Act and five others under immigration laws and banking regulations.

He made no plea or declaration and was remanded into custody.

Two people were hurt in two explosions in Stockholm in December. A man with an explosive device was later found dead.

The Stockholm bomber was named as 28-year-old Iraqi-born Taimour Abdulwahab al-Abdaly.

He had settled in Luton with his wife Mona, with whom he had three young children - two girls and a boy.

He previously attended the University of Bedfordshire.

The attack was believed to be the first suicide bombing in Sweden's history.

Police raid

Detectives have been investigating whether Abdaly was supported by others or acted as a lone attacker.

Mr Khaledi was arrested following a police raid on the 19th floor of a block of flats in the Whiteinch area of Glasgow on Tuesday 8 March.

A convoy, flanked by armed officers and watched from a police helicopter, escorted him to the private hearing in Glasgow Sheriff Court.

Proceeding were translated into Arabic for him.

The first charge against him alleges he provided money for Abdaly.

He is also accused of possessing money and bank cards which could have been used for terrorism, and with entering into an arrangement to provide money for terrorist purposes.

Mr Khaledi also faces a charge that he falsely claimed to be a Kuwaiti national so he could claim asylum and benefits in the UK and of fraudulently opening bank accounts.

He is expected to return to court next week under conditions of high security.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested in Glasgow in connection with a suicide bombing in Sweden.

Police detained the foreign national under the Terrorism Act during an intelligence-led raid in the city's Whiteinch area at about 0605 GMT.

Two people were hurt in two blasts in Stockholm in December. A man was later found dead with an explosive device.

The Stockholm bomber was named as 28-year-old Iraqi-born Taimour Abdulwahab al-Abdaly, who lived in Luton.

He previously attended the University of Bedfordshire.

The attack was believed to be the first suicide bombing in Sweden's history.

'Well planned'

Detectives in Britain and Sweden have been investigating whether Abdulwahab was supported by others or acted as a lone attacker.

Officials said at the time the bombing appeared "well-planned" and worked on the assumption that he was helped by others.

The man detained in Glasgow is suspected of "aiding terrorist activities outwith Scotland".

With its frosted windows, CCTV cameras, and tightly monitored security entrance, it is going to be one of Aberdeen's most secretive business enterprises.

So, you could be forgiven for wondering if the shop has something to hide.

Well, it does - its customers. Or rather it is the customers who want to remain hidden. For this is Scotland's first 'halal hairdressers' - a beauty salon which conforms to the strict rules of Islam; a place were Muslim women who wear the veil or headscarf can be seen uncovered without the risk of the gaze of men.

Discreet Creative Hairdressing, scheduled to open in three weeks, is the brainchild of 21-year-old Mahida Iqbal and her husband of nine months, Fueb Mieh.

The salon will be a 'man-free zone'. The frosted windows will stop any inquisitive men passing by from gawping at the clients. No-one can get in without passing through a secure buzzer entry system with CCTV. All this means that the Muslim ladies who have come for a new hair-do can remove their headscarves safe in the knowledge that only other women can see them....

"It is somewhere where customers can feel comfortable, feel pampered and relaxed, knowing that no-one is going to come in and disturb them," Iqbal added. "Muslim husbands can feel relaxed knowing that their wife is safe, where no man is going to be able to see them, and then they can come home and show their beauty. Muslim clients have never experienced this ever. It's a great feeling."
