Will they mention that non-Muslims are not allowed, on pain of death, to get anywhere near the actual Kaabah? Somehow I doubt it. From the California Aggie, with thanks to Skeetstreet:
For the first event for Islam Awareness Week, the Muslim Student Association at UC Davis created a replica of the Kaabah in Mecca on the West Quad to educate the campus community and fight stereotypes of Islam and Muslims, according to junior Rabia Khan.
Rabia said the Kaabah is a symbolic representation of Islam and Muslims.
“Muslims face the Kaabah when they pray five times a day,” she said. “It is the one structure that unites all Muslims.”
Along with the Kaabah exhibit, the event featured Islamic art, artifacts and food….
Yasmine and Rabia said they hope that this week will dispel some of the stereotypes surrounding Islam and Muslims.
