Ah, but he meant jihad as a spiritual struggle, doncha know. And that part about equipping a holy warrior, that would be with a nice leather-bound Qur’an. Al-Arian update from AP, with thanks to Anthony:
TAMPA, Florida (AP) — A former Florida university professor accused of aiding Palestinian terrorists was seen on a video Wednesday exhorting an Islamic audience “to adopt the choice of jihad.”
It was the second video shown to a federal trial jury in which since-fired University of South Florida engineering professor Sami Al-Arian called on a Muslim audience to engage in religious warfare. Another speaker asked the crowd to donate money to equip “a holy warrior.”…
The video shown today was made at a September 27, 1991 event in Cleveland. Al-Arian is introduced as president of the Islamic Committee for Palestine in North America, an organization he founded that prosecutors say supported terrorism.
