Don’t hold your breath, Steve. From Reuters, with thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist:
WASHINGTON, Oct 31 (Reuters) – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas must crack down on Palestinian Islamic Jihad in the wake of the suicide bombing in Hadera, Israel, last week, White House national security adviser Stephen Hadley said on Monday.
“Palestinian President Abbas earned the trust of his people when he was elected on a platform of peace this past January. Now the Palestinian Authority must make good on that promise by fighting terrorism,” Hadley said to a pro-Israeli group.
“We have made it very clear to him, especially in the wake of the vicious attack in Hadera, that he should begin by acting promptly and forcefully against Palestinian Islamic Jihad,” Hadley said in prepared remarks for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee National Summit 2005 in Los Angeles.
He should “begin”? He should have been doing this already. His illustrious predecessor should have been doing it. But instead, both have made abundantly clear which side they are really on, to anyone who wishes to assess the evidence realistically.
