Jihad Watch Board Vice President Hugh Fitzgerald recently gave us ten good reasons to stop the jizyah to Egypt. Here’s another.
Tiny Minority of Extremists Update, “Egypt: Love USD, Hate America, Israel, and the West,” from Israel National News, with thanks to Romy:
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has spent years convincing world leaders of his commitment to peace – and winning millions of dollars in foreign aid from the U.S., says Palestinian Media Watch.
Despite his bonhomie, however, a television series produced by the government-owned and controlled Egyptian Radio and Television Union and shown on the PMW website tells a very different tale of how Egypt really sees its role in history and world politics, and that of the U.S.
“Man in the Era of Globalization” is a popular Egyptian television series that recently finished its second season on Palestinian Authority TV. Video clips from the program are available on the Palestinian Media Watch website. Its name belies its intent, however. The series presents, in a sitcom setting, a dialogue of distortions and outright lies which are calculated to create negative images of the United States, as well as Israel, in the minds of the viewers.
The U.S. is depicted as a leader of imperialist forces in the world, leading the viewer to blame America for the serious problems that plague the Arab world today. Israel is shown as a world-class terror group, with a clever dialogue that has a boy raising the question of whether “the Zionists” were responsible for the attack which destroyed the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, murdering more than 3,000 people in less than an hour’s time. Dialogue response to the question: “It’s not impossible,” says his father, thoughtfully.
