More Bali-style jihad attacks coming?
I have supplied in brackets the reportorial omissions in this AAP story. “Police find ‘suicide bomb’ backpack,” from AAP, with thanks to JE:
INDONESIAN police have found a suicide bomb backpack similar to those used in last year’s triple Bali restaurant bombings, confirming fears that [Islamic jihadist] militants are poised to carry out more attacks, possibly targeting Westerners.
The find was made as police continue to scour Java for master [mujahid] terrorist Noordin Top, who escaped as early morning raid on Saturday in which two aides were killed.
Deputy national police spokesman Brigadier-General Anton Bachrul Alam said officers found explosives hidden in warehouse unit in the East Java town of Temanggung.
They were almost identical to those used by a trio of [Islamic martyrdom] suicide bombers to attack three crowded Bali restaurants last October, killing four Australians among 20 innocent bystanders….
The explosives were found in a warehouse belonging to a [Muslim] militant named Jabir, who was killed during the raid on Top’s suspected hideout in Wonosobo on the weekend.
The Malaysian-born Top, nicknamed the “Moneyman”, had fled the house in Binangun, Central Java, before elite anti-terror police stormed the building.
Jabir was a senior aide to Top and was the cousin of another senior Jemaah Islamiah (JI) terrorist, Fathur Rohman Al-Ghozi, who was killed in a battle with Filipino troops in 2003.
