The jihad against education continues in southern Thailand. “Two teachers killed, set ablaze in Thailand’s Muslim south,” from AFP:
YALA, Thailand : Suspected Islamic militants have shot dead two Buddhist teachers and then set their bodies ablaze near a school in Thailand’s restive Muslim south, police said.
The charred remains of their bodies were found 100 metres (yards) from the school, near the still-smouldering wreckage of the pickup truck that they were driving when the militants attacked, police said.
One of the victims, Chamnong Koopathanaphong, 59, was the principal of the elementary school in Yala province, police said.
The second man, 52-year-old Manoo Sornkaew, was a teacher at the school.
Police said they believed the two were dead before their bodies were set on fire.
The deaths of the teachers followed another killing late Thursday in neighbouring Narathiwat province, where a 24-year-old Muslim man who belonged to government’s volunteer defence forces was killed in a drive-by shooting.
