He wasn’t involved in terrorist activity, he said. He just threw a bomb at a bus full of Israeli civilians, that’s all.
“Collierville resident will be deported,” from the Memphis Commercial Appeal, with thanks to RN:
A Palestinian-born Collierville resident, who admitted to flinging Molotov cocktails at Israeli civilians and soldiers 17 years ago, is getting kicked out of the country.
Bassam Darwishahmad pleaded guilty in federal court in Downtown Memphis Tuesday to one count of making false statements in a petition for permanent resident alien status.
In an agreement between federal prosecutors and his attorney, Mark Mesler, Darwishahmad agreed to leave the country immediately.
When asked by federal agents whether he had ever been associated with any terrorist activity, he said he had not.
Later, he admitted he was recruited by an arm of the Palestine Liberation Organization and was part of a conspiracy to bomb an Israeli police station in Nablus, in the West Bank.
He also admitted to throwing a bomb at a bus full of Israeli civilians and throwing Molotov cocktails at Israeli soldiers.
