For awhile it looked as if the banning of Jihad Watch by various organizations and net filters had been successfully reversed. Then last week I started to get emails from readers again, telling me that suddenly Jihad Watch was no longer accessible at their place of work, and showed up as being banned for promoting “violence,” “hate,” “racism,” or some variation of those things. There is considerable evidence that this is the result of a campaign targeting Jihad Watch and other sites and trying to get net filtering services to ban them.
I don’t know what is the motivation behind this campaign, but whatever it is, it isn’t truth. Jihad Watch doesn’t promote violence, hate, or racism, and I doubt that the companies that have banned it really want to be on record as approving of jihad violence, the forcible subjugation of religious minorities and the denial to them of equality of rights, the commodification of women, and the other elements of Islamic supremacism that we are working against here.
So far the main problem comes from Sonic Wall, a popular net filtering service. Many people whose employers use Sonic Wall have contacted us in the last few days to tell us that Jihad Watch is no longer accessible. We have appealed to them to change their designation of the site, but to no avail so far. Also currently blocking Jihad Watch is SurfControl, and SafeSurf.
If your company uses any of these filters, or if you are just concerned about the ability of a few malicious individuals to smear and censor the work we are doing here, please contact Sonic Wall, Surf Control, and Safe Surf. Write to them politely and ask them to remove the designation, explaining that this site stands in defense of the dignity and rights of every human being, and those who insist otherwise generally resort to outright lies about what I have advocated here in order to make their case.
And please use the “Contact Us” box you’ll find on the left-hand column to keep me posted as to what kind of a response you get.
Hearty thanks to all who can help with this.
