Thailand Jihad Update. “2 public school teachers shot and killed in Thailand’s restive Muslim south,” from the Associated Press:
BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) – Suspected Muslim insurgents shot dead two public school teachers Tuesday in Thailand’s insurgency-wracked south, police said.
Now, that’s much more descriptive than “restive.”
At least two attackers hidden in the brush stepped out on to a narrow village road in Narathiwat’s Rue So district and shot the two teachers with pistols while they were riding motorcycles home, police Lt. Col. Thanapol Meechai said.
The two had been part of a group of six teachers guarded by a village defense volunteer, which is normal practice in the south. But the two who were attacked had fallen behind the others, he said.
Thailand’s jihadists have established a distinctive pattern of targeting teachers. For additional examples from this year alone, see here, here, and here.
