“A total of 1,985 women died from domestic violence in last two years, which makes almost three women a day“, Sebahat Balci, a Social Service Expert, said, adding that “in Europe more than a woman per week dies due to the violence from her husband or boyfriend”. “One-third of women are exposed to physical violence by her husband at least once in Turkey and domestic violence increases as the income increases and it decreases as education increases,” Balci declared. “Another research revealed that 89% of women are exposed to psychological violence and 39% are subject to physical violence, while around 30% of women are victims of domestic violence during their marriage when they are pregnant”, the expert revealed.
